It's tough to find a good barber. I'm glad I ran into Sharp. My girlfriend and I needed to go grocery shopping at the Safeway across the street, so I figured I'd stop by to see if they had time for me. I lucked out and was able to be squeezed in. The guys definitely made me feel welcome as soon as I walked in. Aside from the haircut, I'd say one of the great things about them is the consistency in customer service. It seems like it's part of their routine to have a pretty thorough consultation with their customers before they start cutting hair. I for one really like that they push to make sure that both the client and the barber are on the same page about the customer's expectations. I got a haircut by Sheldon and he took a few minutes to hear what I wanted and then described what he was going to do to achieve that. A few moments into my haircut, the barber sitting next to him (I think his name is EJ) had a customer sit in his chair. He went through the same talk with his client about the haircut he wanted. I think that's great. It makes me feel good that I can go to any of them and get the same service. The last person I went to for a haircut kept on insisting that what I wanted wasn't "right" for me. I just wanted a light trim and the back to be a "bald taper". (A new term I learned care of Sharp) Service is a big thing for me and when you push to exceed my expectations, you pretty much have me as a customer for life. read more

After years of cutting my husbands hair, suddenly the business is gone...Annie, where have you gone? My guess is as usual, Lafayette has jacked the rents up so high that Style Cuts had to leave. I called the company who manages the building, he was really strange when I asked him if he knew where Annie went. He told me that she is semi-retired and went back to Vietnam...Well, I called Annie, it was hard to understand what she was saying, but she said that she will return March 5th. Sheldon has been cutting my hair for years (I think 6-7). I have a simple cut as I'm losing my hair, but that doesn't matter to Sheldon, as his attention to detail has always left me feeling like I'm looking good as I walk out the door. He's taken that same attention to detail and poured it into starting his own barber shop, and it shows. It's just getting off the ground now, so I encourage you to walk in and check it out. I met his fellow barber EJ and he seemed really cool as well. The vibe is clean, relaxed, retro. There are 5 chairs so definite room to grow. Beyond the vibe, which is great, you have talented barbers who will welcome you and make you feel comfortable. Ever walk into a barber shop and feel scrutinized or unwanted? Like they don't want walk ins, or like you just don't fit in with the particular culture of that shop? It's happened to me but I assure you that you won't feel that here. My friend referred me to Angelo to get my hair cut. I have tried several different barbers, and I have to say hands down Angelo has done the best job! I was very impressed with how it turned out. Got a below-average haircut the first time I went there. I stopped going there for a few months, I decided to give them a second chance just because the location is close to my residence. The second time was even worse, it started with the wait time. I was seen 13 mins after my scheduled appointment and not a single "we apologize for the delay", "we'll be right with you" or a simple "do you need water or something else to drink". I asked E.J. specifically for a taper and got nothing close to that. No attention to detail at all and was done in 15 mins (when a regular barber takes 25-30mins). During my haircut another client came in (who seemed like a regular) went straight to a chair and was offered a beer literally as he was seating down. That's when I felt like I was not being taken seriously. I know that I don't fit their demographics and I'm ok with that, it's a private business and they can help whoever they like, but it's just disappointing to realize that I was treated like my business there was inferior to others. read more

I made an appointment 3 days in advance, when I showed up for a haircut the barber had already left for the day. He canceled the appointment on me without any notice. Regardless what his justification was; it's just not professional to not be there after confirming an appointment. He could have called me to let me know that he will have to change my appointment to some other day due to what ever reason, and I would have been totally fine with that. I just had a cut with Ann. It was well done and I'd highly recommend her. Usually when I try to explain what I want I can hear myself and even I'd agree I don't make any sense but she understood and offered suggestions and the cut came out like I wanted. The place is small but has a nice clean and calm atmosphere. It's like half way between a fancy boutique salon and a super cuts without the chain store feel. I've known these guys for quite sometime. I am very picky with my simpl cut and line up but EJ takes his time every time to make sure I'm looking GQ everytime I leave. I haven't been back to a supercuts or great Clips since I started going to Sheldon to start, now EJ lines me up. The atmosphere is awesome and they both provide a very soothing experience.
