Cons: Very scammy pricing This is a slick organization, and by slick I mean kind of corporate and slimy. The plumber that came out was nice and fine, came at exactly the scheduled time and was done with the work quickly. No problems there. But the business operation is very scammy, and "discount" it is not. If I had it to do over again I would have trusted my gut after the first phone call and moved on to try to find a local, independent plumber. I used yelp to find someone to fix a broken garbage disposal, and literally less than a minute after submitting my request I got a yelp message, a text, and a phone call from Discount Plumbers. On the phone was a friendly fellow offering to schedule a free appointment to look at the problem and give me a quote. It didn't take long for me to realize the guy on the phone was AI. That made me realize this was a large, corporate organization, not a local plumber. In spite of my misgivings, and because I didn't want to waste a lot of time, I agreed to the appointment for the next day. As I mentioned, the plumber arrived right on time and was very nice. As I had already determined via my own investigation, he told me the disposal needed to be replaced. He tapped some things into his iPad and came up with a quote of almost $700. I asked him for a breakdown of parts and labor, and he was unable to give that to me, trying to make me feel fine that the amount would cover everything. I asked him what brand disposal he would be using, and I looked it up online to find that it could be purchased for $150 at home depot. I asked him how long he thought the work would take, and he said 2 hours, which I figured meant the labor charge would be around $250/hour. As it became obvious I was skeptical, he offered a 10% discount. Since I didn't want to take the time to find someone else to come out, I just went with it. The work took 30 minutes. I just paid someone $1000/hour to replace a garbage disposal and feel pretty stupid. The icing on the cake was when he showed me a broken O-ring and said he would be giving me a new one for free. Ya think???

I don't really know too much about water heaters but I do know that my old one lasted me a long time and I wanted to MAKE SURE to stick with the brand. John stated that they don't usually sell that type of water heater but since I was dead set on it he would make it happen just for me. And he came through and delivered. When he came to my place, he was respectful and was very careful when taking out the old one. He pretty much treated it like his own home. Then he was even more careful placing in the new one. AT LAST! Hot water again! The following day I got a call back from the owner asking how the service was and how John was. I obviously only had great things to say. But it was still nice to know that the owner is involved in the business and that he actually cares how each job was handled. The issue was no hot water coming out of shower of my tenant's apt. As a property manager that has dealt with this issue in the past, even I knew what the problem was. So Alex came out and said I had to not only replace the cartridge but the valve system as well bc it was rusted. Tenant thought it looked fine. Plumber gave an estimate of 1900.!!! I immediately said NO WAY! I think with the rest of the reviews maybe they took the estimate at face value and not knowing about plumbing issues just paid for it and was happy with the service! My experiences made me question that estimate! I hired another plumber and I told him the exact problem to repair saying I had this issue before on other apts I managed. And they fixed it for $ 385.( which is reasonable but still slightly higher, but I was tired of getting another estimate). So see the BIG difference I save over 1500.!!! So just a caveat, don't go with your first estimate blindly. Second, I ONLY go with FREE estimates, pay by the job and not the hour mostly.
