In short, I think it is a company with no real ability. I can not give it even one star. A technician came , checked the error code on the screen, wrote down the facts from the technical manual, and charged $250 for the inspection. That is all the technician for me. Still, when I asked for an estimate the repair, he said he'd send me a detail estimate via email. Then, two days passed and still did not hear from them, so I called the office and a female employee said she would send it soon. Then I confirmed my email addressagain, and another day passed and there was no reply. I never want to see them again. read more

The plumber came for one hour and charged $625! He identified a leak but did no work. I didn't check before I paid as I as I was working and never imagined the bill would be so high. When I called afterwards the woman answering the phone said it was their hourly rate. When I called again, she said it was their hourly rate in DC only, as their "trucks get broken into." The big problem with this is that they should have BUT DID NOT tell me this on the phone when I made the appointment, nor did the plumber tell me this, nor did the woman on the phone until I called back twice to get more details. I am a customer and have yet to write a review of any service contractor. That said, we have had a water pressure issue for years. We believed due to WSSC and/or aging pipes-house is 20+ years. We have had other plumbers come to assist to no avail. Shary's was recommended and spent considerable time with me on the phone to diagnose. Ultimately a plumber, Carl, was dispatched who was nothing short of outstanding. He suggested multiple ways to skin the cat before what would end up as a last resort-digging up the front yard and driveway. He solved our problem without needing to go to this last resort and our pressure is like it was when the home was built. He even called that evening to check on us. In a time when many do not seem to care much, Shary's was flat our excellent and has attained a customer for life! You will be glad you made the call! read more

I had high hopes for Shary's Plumbing, as they were recommended by the company that did the mitigation work for our basement toilet overflow from a main line clog. My initial conversation with them went well and I scheduled a time for them to come out and evaluate my situation and give an estimate. I spoke to them on a Friday, on a Monday to schedule, and then Tuesday morning to confirm the timing of Carl's arrival and everything seemed great. However, midday on Tuesday (Carl was supposed to arrive between 11am - 2pm) I received a call from their scheduler who seemed a little frazzled due to a busy day (understandable) who, for the first time, informed me that it was going to be $295 for Carl to come out (never mentioned before) and that he likely wouldn't be able to do much that day anyway. They essentially recommended that I should just let things be, and not worry about it until my toilet overflowed sewage again. Needless to say, this change in tone, addition of price, etc. came completely out of left field. I had stayed home from work and arranged my day to be present for this scheduled appointment and estimate. When I calmly communicated this, I was basically told that I was SOL, the owner would not make any exceptions and something about them being a smaller company. I am disappointed because I am still trying to find a trustworthy and reliable and reasonably-priced (the initial plumbing in my home was done by Roto Rooter) plumber to advise me on whether my 50-year-old cast iron pipes should be hydro-jetted or descaled or if I actually need to replace any pipe, and to do that work. I am apprehensive about this happening again as the mitigation was expensive and I have 2 young children and 2 dogs in the house. This review has nothing to do with their knowledge or quality of work, I liked Carl when we originally briefly spoke on the phone. But, the customer service, which I think is essential for this type of business, was extremely disappointing. read more

Recommend 100%. I had a main water line failure. Within a couple of hours, Carl had inspected the problem, drawn up a plan, secured the permit, coordinated a team for the next day, and called Miss Utility to mark the dig. So what they did was use a compression sleeve to fix a leak. Instead of cutting the pipe at the leak, cleaning the two pieces, putting on flux then soldering, they cut the compression sleeve lengthwise and fit it over the leak. Any self respecting g plumber would have NEVER done that. Well the "repair" did not hold for obvious reasons. Now we have tons of mold and will need the entire ceiling removed and redone. Shary's was the subcontractor on our house and I have no recourse against them unfortunately. Run and don't let them near your investment. Another fun item they did in violation of code was to use a non potable water expansion tank. I had to pay to have it changed as well. Who knows what else is lurking from their willful shoddy workmanship. Notice the corrosion from not cleaning off the excess flux. Plumbing 101-always wipe of excess flux. These pipes were filthy with corrosion. read more

I have used Shary's Plumbing twice in the past year. I've been exceedingly impressed, as I felt sure I would give them a job too tough to handle both times. I failed. Whether installing a new Delta kitchen faucet, replacing stuck or corroded aerators, fixing a backed up bathroom sink, or repairing a stubborn drip on a utility faucet, there is no job too large or small for the skilled master plumbers at Shary's, who are responsive, professional and polite. Moreover, their billing is exceedingly fair, done on an hourly basis, so if you have multiple tasks, they bill their customers on a straight hourly basis, rather than per task. So I got 3 jobs done in 1 visit, and felt like I came out well ahead, as compared to what I've been billed by other plumbers. Highly recommended. read more

Very disappointed on this plumbing companies. They flip flop on appointment and the costs on the day of my appointment. Hourly rate is high already then on the appointment day they called and said they would be sending someone else at a different time along with a helper so I'll be charged not only for the plumbers rate but also the helpers rate. It's bull shit. They flip flopped three times within 4 days (including weekends) on the time of my appointment and who would be coming. Find a different plumbing company if you can. read more

I've used Shary's several time before and they've always been on-time and helpful. I initially used them upon the recommendation of a local build/design firm. I was surprised that the overall rating was 3/5 because that has not been my experience after more than 10 years and probably 5-6 visits to the house. I was having an issue with the water pressure and lack of hot water from the kitchen sink. Over the summer I had a plumber come out to attempt to resolve the issue and he said I needed an all new faucet set which for our remodeled kitchen would of cost hundreds. I'm glad I got a second opinion, Shary's Plumbing technician's Sean and T.J. had the problem fixed in less than 20 minutes. Couldn't be happier with the work these two performed. read more

So, I had Shary's fix my tankless water heater about three weeks ago. The unit was leaking, and the plumber said that a bad valve was the source of the issue (unit is out of warranty). So, the plumber ordered a new valve and came back out to install it. Not wanting to have a plumber come back out to work on the unit in the near future, I had the plumber do any routine maintenance on the unit that needed to be done; the plumber said he did this (and charged for it). Total cost for all this was around $1200 (~4 hours of service plus parts). Fast-forward three weeks later, the unit is leaking again (from a different place), so I called Shary's this morning and explained the issue, and they refused to even come out look at the unit without charging (i.e., minimum couple hundred dollars). So, in short, I have now paid $1200 for a water heater that still leaks. I am now going to Home Depot to get a new hot water heater. read more

They charge you $40 for gas, $130 an hour for the plumber AND $65 an hour to pay a mechanic who tags along. ????? I didn't need a mechanic but was told I HAD to pay the guy anyway. I have used Sharys 3 times recently ;-( I have found them polite, efficient and generally able to come out same day or within a very short time frame. They are more expensive than most but after wasting money on cheaper plumbers and not having a satisfactory result, I'd rather spend a lot more and know the job is done well read more

The representatives had to come three times before identifying the problem with my thankless water heater and charged for all three times even though they had missed the malfunctioning part. Initially they stated that the additional times would be a "continuation" charge, but that did not hold when they presented us with an enormous bill. When we asked for clarification their admin person raised her voice at me for half an hour and never addressed the real question, which was why the malfunctioning part was not identified the first time. Subsequently, the technician illogically stated that the fault was of the manufacturer. I would not recommend this company at all. read more

A few years ago I had a very bad experience with Shary's Plumbing. In the end, I had to call Len The Plumber plumber to fix Shary's Plumbing's faulty work. I then requested a refund from Shary's but they refused. Making matters worse, Sharey's started calling and emailing me earlier this year threatening legal action if I did not pay them. In 2012, I had a leaky faucet. The technician determined that the only thing that could be wrong was the faucet itself, so I ordered a new one. This visit cost more than $230. After the faucet arrived, Shary's did a second repair with the new faucet at a cost of $277.50. After this repair the faucet leaked worse than it did prior to the repair. I then asked the technician to come back. He came back free of charge in September and applied a large amount of silicon below the faucet. This did not improve the situation, so I asked him to come back. Shary's refused to fix their work. I called multiple times, and gave up. With my faucet still leaking, I called Len the Plumber, who repaired the faucet at a cost of $191 (base charge for visit). The plumber showed me in the first five minutes that the main connection tube was not clicked into the faucet, causing a large leak. He apologized for the large charge for such an easy fix. I called Shary's requesting a refund on their faulty services, and they said they needed to talk to the owner. After multiple follow-ups, and calls unreturned, I gave up, frustrated. What really blew my mind is when, earlier this year, Shary's contacted me again, saying I owed $242.50. I didn't understand, and thought that, if anything, they owed me money. After months of calls and emails, including me having Len the Plumber fax over their invoice (twice!) as proof of the work, I gave in and paid the invoice. Just another example of a Contractor that doesn't do what they say they're gonna do. It took 2 1/2 weeks and half a dozen phone calls by me to finally get a simple estimate that should've taken a couple days tops. After i finally received their estimate it was an absolute joke.....tried to charge me over $2000 more than 2 other quotes i already had for apples to apples work.
