What an amazing experience with Mark from Lyons! 5+ stars for service, quality, and value. My husband asked several plumbers for quotes, and Mark was the first to reply, right away. He gave us a fair estimate based on the problem description and scheduled a visit immediately. True to his word, he quoted the exact cost when he arrived. During his first visit, Mark was thorough, answered every question, and explained everything clearly. He fixed half the issue on the spot and returned the next day to finish the job. Because the old valve was badly installed and the surrounding "box" cracked when it was removed, Mark went above and beyond. He replaced the whole box and the new valves, a service that would normally cost an extra$200, but he didn't charge us a cent for it. He tested everything before leaving, and when I mentioned our weak‑pressure shower, he instantly diagnosed the cause, explained what caused it, and showed me the issue, and fixed it at no additional cost. Had a an L shaped pipe leak due to pinhole caused by corrosion at the joint; called a 10+ vendors most of which could not come out for days. I won't hire any other plumber other than Lyons. Had a leak at my water main shutoff. Reached out Dan and explained the issue to him and requested for him to send one of his guys out asap. He verbally quoted me a ballpark estimate to fix the issue but also gave me step-by-step instructions to troubleshoot & resolve the issue in case it was something very minor. Turns out it was and I was able to clear up this issue with Dan's help over the phone. Side note: turns out I did hire Lyons in the past for an issues with our bathroom plumbing in which they did a phenomenal job, were very punctual & communicative, and were reasonably priced. I also learned about some mistakes I made in trying to DIY the issue. Seems like the whole Lyons team are not only pros at their trade but also great teachers who are genuinely there to help. Giving 5 stars for Dan's professionalism, ability to detect my sense of urgency (a little desperation too, probably), and willingness to help a customer even if didn't help his bottom line. Amazing job for a very tricky problem. The plumbing in my upstairs (2 bathrooms side by side) backed up for the second time in 5 months. The first company I hired to come out to fix it needed a full day. They were very clearly stumped by the issue and could not figure out why they were not hitting the clog. They tried multiple times through one of the toilets, through the roof stack and finally tried hydrojetting it which cleared it but they charged me $1800. It was clear they did not understand what the problem was or how to address it. When I spoke to Dan on the phone, he immediately identified the problem and had some solid ideas on how to fix it. He sent out Kevin, his brother, and Arvin, Kevin's helper to snake the drain. It took them 10 MINUTES total to clear the drain and get the water flowing again. Major props to Kevin as his experience and knowledge made all the difference between an 8 hour job and a 10 minute job. Can't say enough good things about Lyons Plumbing! We just bought a house in Hyattsville, and immediately had a problem with our basement bathroom. The first company we called came out, charged us $2900 for an escalating series of "fixes," and failed to fix the problem. Not only that, but they wanted $5300 to dig up our yard in yet another fix attempt! We decided to get a second opinion, and thank God we did. We reached out to Lyons through Yelp and were soon on the phone with Dan Lyons, the owner. He was good-humored and knowledgable, he took the time to understand our problem, and we were immediately at ease. Next morning, he sent out Kevin & Brad, who *actually* fixed the issue for just $500. Kevin thought there was an issue with our sewage ejection pump, so Dan sent out another employee the next day--but it turns out there wasn't a problem, and they didn't charge us for the visit. Big shout out to Dan and Mark for allowing me to check one item of my Honey Dew List! I looked up Plumbers on Friday and received multiple quotes. Ultimately Dan's responsiveness and clarifying questions to fully understand the job at hand, made me comfortable to move ahead with the scheduled appointment on Monday. Mark, the plumber who arrived to perform the job, came earlier than expected, which I had no problem. He came to the door with his mask on, and I met him at the rear of my house. I previously cleaned out the cabinet so Mark could have the best, as possible, area to work with. My original faucet came with the house when I bought it. Between my kids and wife's need to turn the faucet on at full blast each time of use, water was leaking below causing rust and corrosion on the connections. Mark, said, "This is going to be difficult." He walked out to his truck, came back to saw off the original faucet, and the new faucet was on in what felt like 15 minutes. Mark informed me the hand soap dispenser that came with my faucet could not be out on because my dishwasher is taking up the last hole on my sink. No worries, we didn't use it anyways. I tried to schedule a consultation and estimate with this company. I called, described my issue, and told the guy my town, to which he replied, "What neighborhood in that town?" We requested their help for what we thought, initially, was just tightening up a faucet so that it wouldn't wobble anymore. What it actually turned out to be was that, to summarize, the components under the sink that connected to the faucet were installed and connected so sloppily the first time (our kitchen was redone after an accident), that caused the wobbling. The specific guy who came was very straightforward and told us what was going wrong, and gave us some tips too. We also asked if he could remove an old hose for us, which he did free of charge, and gave us tips on what kinds would last longer without corroding. We paid $120, which for it being same day and the fact that more work would be needed than we initially thought, the value is great. read more
