Our problem was a significant water leak under the kitchen sink. Peddicord Plumbing was very responsive; they came on Monday, the 1st weekday after I first called on Saturday (they do not provide services on weekends). They sent two people, a seasoned veteran and what appeared to be a trainee. They correctly diagnosed the problem and were able to fix it within the first hour. Not having had to use a plumber for quite a few years, I thought their fee for the visit was reasonable. We were very pleased with their overall service and result. No estimate was given before work was started. I called Peddicord Plumbing and made an appointment for my laundry sink backing up terrible debris. I waited a week to get an appointment. Their plumber showed up and told me the line was cleared. They charged me $729.00 which was extremely high. In less than 5 days the laundry sink started backing up again. I called Peddicord plumbing and was told they couldn't come back for almost another week. I spoke with their manager Patricia and was told that even though I just paid $729.00 they were too busy to come out and fix a job that wasn't completed . I am a senior on a fixed income. I called WSSC to come check the county lines which they came right out. They said the lines were fine and that Peddicord plumbing did an incomplete job. I was also told that The plumbing company should submit an Off-Property Report Request for my Address. I feel like I was taken advantage of when the Peddicord Plumbing Manager Patricia told me they would have to send 2 plumbers and other equipment and charge me more money for the same work they didn't complete. I paid $729.00 for incomplete work. I was also told they don't guarantee cleared drains but never told me that or the cost before they started the job. They advertise that that have a workmanship guarantee. Seniors beware of this company. Really anyone should beware of a company that in less than 5 days they won't honor what you just paid for and paid a very high price for incomplete work. read more

Will not use again. They replaced my water heater at a fair price, but when the work crew was installing the new water heater they said one of the valves they needed wasn't up to building codes, but they could rig something temporary and would come back later to replace it at no cost to me. When I followed up by email and asked for the replacement valve, the office staff ignored this oral promise and insisted it was new work, and I would have to pay "$95 per half hour, plus any materials used." When I complained by email that they were reneging on their promise, they harangued me at home with a pointless call that bizarrely suggested I was somehow at fault. Very unprofessional behavior. Even apart from reneging on the oral promise, the estimate they gave me for the work was faulty. I went back and checked the other estimates I received and some explicitly included the work Peddicord wanted to charge me extra for. Peddicord's estimate looked much better because they hadn't included all the work that was needed. Apparently they think it's the customer's responsibility to pay when they give a bad estimate. read more

Looking for a great plumber ? I found one, from a neighbor, who told me about her experience with an "Eddie" (Roberto Lara, Jr., who is with Petticord Plumbing Svcs. (301-774-1227; P.O. Box 1804, Olney, MD 20830). I had a problem with the "flushing action" re my toilet, which I've had for years. I don't have plumbing skills. I looked up online re the name of the toilet I have (a "flapperless one") and ordered a part (one of only a few shown for the type of toilet I have (a Niagra Conserv). I called the 301-774-1227, made an appointment, the plumber named "Eddie" came over, I watched as he showed me what he was doing and he fixed it (it doesn't have any "flushing action problem" now, that;s for sure. He got the job done well and quickly and was delightful to have in my home, being friendly and personable and he left no mess at all; he even brought his shoe covers in with him and removed them when he had to go back to his truck so as to track nothing inside. If you don't mind spending WAY over typical rates then Peddicord is your man. They quoted a job to replace 46' of poly pipe with cvpc for $1295. They then called and said it would be an additional $990 for a total of $2285 so they changed their "fixed" rate which amounted to a rate of over $300 an hour just for labor. I protested to this crazy high rate for a plumber. He then did some calculations and said he would charge me $1460 for labor based on time on the job and $500 for materials. I then said there was no way he had $500 in material, he then said $400 and he would go no lower. So I agreed to pay the new total of $1860. I later looked up costs for cvpc and fittings, etc on Home Depot and saw where this material probably cost about $75, no where near the $400 he charged me. So he marked up his materials approximately 400% which is outrageous. I questioned him on this and he replied that he did have a list of material. I consider that being severely OVERCHARGED. read more

We had our old water heater replaced with an AO Smith hybrid water heater in October. Dan Peddicord was the only person that asked us questions about what we were hoping to get from our replacement water heater to make sure they recommended the best fit (we originally were thinking about installing a gas water heater). They were very professional, showed up on time, the installers were friendly and competent, and the price for the water heater was actually lower than others sold it for in our area. These guys are fantastic. I just switched from another local plumber who was more expensive, and always had a bad attitude. The owner and Eddie, the plumber were both knowledgeable and could absolutely take care of your standard plumbing needs. I had them cut and move a waterline, and replace the sprinkler backflow valve. Technician was great, showed up promptly, confirmed water heater leak, explained in detail the work to be accomplished... awesome up until this point. I received a quote for the job and agreed after technician explanation. Then received a bill for $170+ for 20 minute walk through with technician. You've got to be kidding me! I'm DELIGHTED. I called.... 15 plumbers for a straightforward job to run two water lines to a new refrigerator & freezer columns we are putting in (2 lines). I got quotes from larger companies who could start "that day", but were astronomical for a few hours work. Well enter Peddicord. They took about two weeks to get out to me, but told me that up front. Greg shows up (THE best), I walk him through what we need, he sizes it up, gives me a verbal estimate on the spot (which was in-line with my expectations), then gets to work. Fast forward 4 hours (which is what he said it would take - to the minute) and the work is clean and done. Their corporate mantra - satisfied customer means a great company to work for which means happy employees. A refreshing way to look at things and it shows in their engagement and their work product.
