David and Jerrod were great hosts to welcome us in. They provided some excellent insight into the town of Burney. Since we're hiking and heading out early, we just ate at one of their recommended spots, Art's Outpost, which is right next door. Solid place to dine for dinner or grab some local beer & bar eats. Would definitely come back. The room was very clean and has a fridge and microwave in it. Ice machine outside. With the level of service we received, we would gladly stay here the next time we visit Lassen. Pro tip: PCT visitors currently get a discount. My stay here was AWESOME! Jared, the manager, is so very nice. The rooms were very nice, neat and very clean. The best part of staying here was the very comfortable bed that I slept in. It was the best sleep that I have had in a very long time. The staff was very knowledgeable and they recommended great places to eat. Jared and his staff were so very pleasant. A very awful unfriendly business negotiation. Made a one day reservation on May 6 for 3 people through Orbitz. Since check in time is early PM, we planned to do hiking around the beautiful Burney Falls. Unfortunately, my sister in law had terrible fall, fracturing her ankle that required a visit to hospital. Instead of staying the night at Burney, we decided to go home. We immediately notified the hotel and Orbitz of the same day cancellation and asked if they can at least refund all, some or any part of the $147.00 due to unforeseen medical situation. The staff at hotel advised us that they can't cancel or refund our reservation since they need to do it four days prior to check in. They don't even listen or care what the reason for cancellation. This is really bad business. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL. read more

If you value your peace and overall health do NOT stay here. I highly suggest staying at a different place even if at a slightly higher price. Just FYI: Burney is tiny, all motels are the same distance from the outdoor activities, there is no downtown, just one road where everything is located about 1/4 of a mile. I had the unfortunate experience of booking 4 nights here to get away from the city and I was gone after 3rd nite. Walls are paper thin (to be expected) but... management is gone after 8 pm so if you have loud guests next to you... you will not be able to sleep and it will be up to you to solve the problem. "Guest" next to my room actually works at the hotel and she repeatedly stayed up with company until 4 am or later. It was as if a herd of elephants inhabited her room. I tried reasoning with her, I spoke to hotel concierge next AM... absolutely pointless. I wasn't even allowed to change rooms. The agony continued for the rest of my stay forcing me to end my getaway early. If you are looking for peace... this is NOT it. Housekeeping is nonexistent, you maybe get 2 bath towels. The smell of smoke coming from other rooms is unbearable. The rooms are very small with faulty fixtures and sandpaper lines. If I can save one person from this hell, my mission in life is complete. read more

Very nice clean and friendly motel in Burney. Nothing fancy but super clean and comfy motel if you are in the area. Nice newish windows to let the breeze in. Their "hot" breakfast is actually 3 different types of breakfast burritos in the reception area as well as coffee. Next time we are in this area we would stay here again. read more

This place is ok. It's close to Safeway and McDonald's is just across the street. We stayed in the newer building. It was a decent size room with two queen beds. The sheets looks clean. The bathroom was clean. Good size tv in the room. It's a $1 for extra coffee pack. There's also a mini fridge and a microwave inside the room. The only thing missing in the place is a pool. It would have been nice because it's a 100 degrees outside. There's a picnic area and some bbq grills. I don't know if I'm ever going back to Burney but if I do I might stay here again. read more

Ok, so it's not the Hilton, but it is a decent hotel in a very small town. What they lack in amenities they make up for with service and location. As a hiker it was perfect. With no car myself and fresh off the trail, Jessica offered to come pick us up from the trailhead. This is always a welcome and often needed accommodation that hikers greatly appreciate. The location is perfect, close to several restaurants, Rite Aid, Safeway, VFW, and Chevron. The room was a little "used," but again, it's a $60 hotel in a small town so that's ok with me. The bed was soft and the shower was hot. There's free coffee and burritos each morning in the lobby and the staff is always available to assist with anything. Overall a good stay and would recommend. read more

This place is awful. We checked in around 3pm. The employee is friendly enough, but some of the policies were pretty surprising. 10:00am checkout? $500 charge if they detect smoke in the room or find you with a pet. Luckily neither applies to us but still an outrageous fee. I returned almost immediately to the office to ask for two extra pillows. The employee told me she couldn't give them to me then, and could probably give them to me around 7 or 8 pm. The motel was pretty abandoned (as in, we were the ONLY car in the whole place) and a short walk to the ice maker lead to an interesting interaction with a homeless man on a bike. Quite sketchy! The room itself was VERY small. The shower floor was stained from dirty feet (don't recommend walking around or showering barefoot here!). Two single flimsy towels provided. The shower wavered between polar ice temperature and fires of hell on a hair trigger. The single cup coffee maker spit out tan water (NOT coffee). We used both coffee pods provided trying to make a single cup. Additional pods could be purchased for $1.00 a piece so nevermind! I went back to the office at 8:30pm to ask for an additional blanket but was told they don't provide those. When I asked if they could take one from one of the many vacant rooms, she said she would then have to pay the housekeeper to redo that whole room so no. This morning as we were checking out, the same girl who checked us in was doing the cleaning herself so I guess laziness prevented her from helping us out. A few more things... the bed was one of the most uncomfortable I've experienced. I woke up with a sore back. Also, despite being almost completely vacant, she checked us into the only room with a completely cracked window. I don't know what I expected for a $70 per night roadside motel, but the other local motels were at the same price point so it's not like we picked from the bottom of the barrel to get a deal. read more

This place deserves NO STARS but that isn't possible... The man behind the counter was incredibly rude and condescending - he canceled my reservation because he said my credit card was declined (the same credit card I had been using all day without issue). He said he tried to contact me via email and phone - 1) the motel is on a mountain with little to no service, so I did not receive any contact from him; 2) he used the wrong email address (verified by him); 3) he used the wrong phone number (also verified by him - who uses the country code when dialing within the same country??). And of course he blames me for it all because he "just uses the information that I put on Expedia." To top it off he gloated that all the rooms were booked on the mountain, so I ended up having to drive over an hour away to find a room for the night. This place is not worth your patronage - rude customer service in the hospitality industry should never be tolerated or supported with your hard-earned money. This person sucks. read more

My husband and I stayed there and got bitten by bed bugs, the place was not clean, there was not enough towels, they didn't clean the room properly and there was an old laundry bag from the. Let me start By saying this place does not deserve a one star however you have to put at least a one star but this guy would be a - negative 100 stars!!!! The owner is EXTREMELY RUDE and AGGRESSIVE!!! I was checking out and mentioned the problems I had in the room which were internet, tv & ceiling fan...none of those items worked at all!!!! His attitude went from RUDE to SCREAMING at me!!! He told me there was a maintenance guy 25 feet from my room that would of fixed everything if I called. When I informed him I did call, he informed me that I was suppose to leave my room go to the office get the phone number off the door instead of dialing "0" from my motel room. I guess I'm suppose to have ESP since this is the ONLY motel that calling 0 from your room doesn't get you to the front desk. He then told me "GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY MOTEL and NEVER COME BACK". My friends heard him screaming at me from outside and came to the door, as soon as I told them to come in to witness his behavior he didn't say another word. I really hate to leave a bad review but this was just bad and to warn others of this place. Terrible experience. Didn't even step into this room, and the owner wouldn't give a refund. It was a late night for us and we had forgot to ask if they had a; bath tub, complimentary breakfast, wifi, and laundry, NOT ONE of the things we REALLY REALLY needed. What a waste of money, especially for the price. Plus, the customer service was just the cherry on top. It was like, we got your money and we don't care if you aren't happy. When we checked into this motel, we chuckled at the brochures on the desk where the picture of a pool is crossed out with a marker. I guess we won't be swimming. The rooms were clean enough. Be sure to request a room in the remodeled, newer section of the motel. Our room had a mini-fridge and was fairly spacious. Our cousins' room with the king-sized bed had a sofa instead of a table, which makes it difficult to play Apples to Apples. Art's Outpost Steakhouse is within walking distance, right across the parking lot. Clean, comfy enough and cheap. Not a bad choice for Burney. read more

We reserved this place because of a last minute hiking trip and it came up as the cheapest spot for a 2-bed Queen on hotel.com. The staff is very friendly. The grounds are clean and easy to find right off of the 299. The rooms are very clean and depending on the suite size the bathroom is quite large. For the single kings, the bathroom is small. Beds were AMAZINGLY comfortable I slept very well. The owner told me that the beds were all replaced a month ago. Rooms come with a fridge and microwave and coffee. First off, THERE IS NO POOL! Their website still says that they have a pool. Do not trust this, as there is nothing but some picnic tables and canopies in it's place. They used to have a pool but no longer do. Second of all, THERE IS NO WIFI! now this is somewhat of an over-exaggeration on my part. They do offer wifi. However, it is so weak and minimal that you might as well have nothing. I was unable to use the Internet my entire stay. Aside from these facts, this place is a great place to stay. The room was very spacious and extremely clean. The TV was great, being an HDTV and having a hefty selection of channels. Toilets and showers were very nice. The beds were also clean and extremely comfortable. I got great sleep here. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 4 stars is because their website shows them having a pool when they definitely do not have one. Overall, its a great place to stay even with the lack of wifi and pool. I would definitely stay here again, but next time with different expectations. read more

Comfortable, clean updated rooms. They need to offer a little continental breakfast for the price. We stayed here on our way south on hwy 89. They were friendly even with our late arrival at 10:30. Great jumping off point for Burney Falls and hiking. Bathrooms and rooms have been resurfaced with tiles, and fiberglass. No air-conditioning in rooms, and it was hot! We opened windows and found it quiet enough to sleep. They have a grassy, shaded picnic area with tables, and a refrigerator in the room, which was important because of the 100 degree temps. Burney has a cafe, grocery and McDonald's. read more

This hotel was perfectly adequate. It was clean, the bed was pretty comfortable, although definitely not luxurious. Within walking distance to a couple of restaurants. I felt safe there. If you are a light sleeper and it's winter, you'll definitely want ear plugs, the heater was really noisy during the night. There also was quite a bit of road noise, so things to keep in mind. RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS MOTEL! Go across the street to Charm, you will be glad you did! We arrived at this hotel only to find a note in the office window "back in 10 minutes". We waited 15 minutes outside in 100+ degree heat, and they never returned. I called their phone# twice, only to get their vm. I left a message 6:03pm asking them to call me. No return call. As this booking was through Orbitz, I called Orbitz to find another room. Orbitz also called this motel at 6:15, only to confirm their was no answer. Orbitz agreed that they would find another room. At 6:19 the rude person from Shasta Pines called my phone (16 minutes after I left my message, and more than 30 minutes from when we first arrived) and said there was a "fire emergency" at the motel, we're here now". I told her that we had to find another room, and she responded with "good luck with your reservation", and hung up. We went to Charm Hotel across the street, where we were treated wonderfully, and the rooms were great. Even the office staff at Charm confirmed that "somethings up across the street, staff are not around much". After our trip, and reviewing my credit card statement, I then find that Shasta Pines has charged me for 8/3/17. We had intended to stay there, but they were not available to check us in. Keep in mind, it's 100+ degrees outside. I called them today, received the same rude person on the phone and asked why they charged my card when THEY were the reason we could not stay at the hotel, and she responded rudely with "We have witnesses that we were back in 10 minutes". She was not concerned about customer service, or bad reviews, or anything of the sort. Now, there are multiple cameras at this establishment, so it would be very easy for one to view the times on these cameras to establish the time I pulled into the parking lot, however, my great concern is their lack of concern for their business and customers. Rather than a statement of concern, her response was "we have witnesses!" Well, so do I. I have call logs (which cannot be altered), and your camera footage as well. I really wish I would have read the reviews of this motel. Charge disputes, bed bugs, mold, and harrassment from the staff, to name a few. I have made it my mission to report my experience to the BBB, Orbitz, and AAA. Now, being a frequent traveler, I know that the establishment will comment below with different facts, that's guaranteed and welcomed, however, my experience is also documented, and this just adds to the reviews noted here on Yelp to confirm this hotel is horrible. My family and I were on a road trip and stopped for a night at this motel. It was a great motel for the area, the room was very clean and our stay went great. Staff was very friendly including management. They mentioned that the inn/motel had recently had a change of ownership so I am glad I took a chance. We also ate at Art's Outpost that was just a few steps away from our room. Very convenient and not bad food especially if you have kids who are picky eaters. If you and your family are traveling to the area or passing through looking for a place to stay this would be the right place! Keep up the good hospitality work! This place sucks. I reserved room 5 weeks in advance. He told me card held room but i could pay however when i got there (wasn't sure which paycheck would pay room but one would) he says he called me at 9:30 but have zero missed calls from him. Arrived at 12:20 for our 10th anniversary, 4 hour drive and a baby. Check in at 3. He gave our room away cause he said he couldn't reach us. Rest of town says he was price gouging for solar eclipse. I picked up an injured hiker Shue (spelling?) from the Pacific Crest Trail. He asked me to take him into Burney. He needed a place to heal. We found Shasta Pines Motel, and the AWESOME manager David at the front office. He met us at the parking lot, and welcomed us in. The hiker is Japanese, and spoke ok English. David was very patient and helpful. David offered a great rate, and some medical tape, and ziplock bags from the "hiker box." Shue was very grateful, and David even took a photo of us for a souvenir for Shue. I would wholeheartedly recommend Shasta Pines Motel and David for any weary hiker or traveler. I'm a PCT hiker and decided to stay at this place on my way through Burney. From the moment I checked in, it totally exceeded my expectations. David and Jared were beyond friendly and welcoming when I got there - and went above and beyond to make my stay great. They both take customer service seriously and it shows. The room prices are affordable and you get a lot for what you pay for. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious - they even have a refrigerator and a microwave. It was a nightmare! After taxes and whatever we paid $90 per night during the off season. Really? We stayed 11/11/16 & 11/12/16. When we walked into the room the first thing I noticed was the musty, stale air & just the smell of "old". Our room was a bit bigger than a postage stamp. Seriously small. The toilet is literally 2 steps from the bed. Really nice if someone is smelling up the bathroom. The shower! OMG The water is either super hot or freezing. Very difficult to adjust. And there is no shelf to put toiletries. I found this to be extremely annoying. The bathroom wall heater did not work at all. In Burney, it is getting pretty cold at night. And there were absolutely NO hooks to hang a towel or a robe on. Then this happened: Saturday morning I was sitting on the bed, thankfully fully clothed and the manager/owner MAN opened my door without knocking. Just opened it up. I was shocked & incensed. How dare someone do that? He said he wanted to get the towels. sheesh. Since when do motel people just open rooms without knocking? I felt very concerned for my safety. He did not even apologize. Just told me that I should have the Do Not Disturb sign out. At 60 years old I have stayed in a number of hotels & I can tell you I have never had that happen to me. Lastly, on Sunday morning I got a call from the office informing me that check out was 10am. This was at 9:56am. I had to bail out of bed from a sound sleep and start throwing things in suitcases and all I had time for was to brush my teeth and wash my face. NO SHOWER in the overpriced room. I will never, ever stay at this motel again. After walking in on me, the management should have comped our room instead of kicking us out at 10am. NO. There is no back story. We were not one time rude or demanding to this motel management. read more

As one who frequents this small town for work, this is the BEST place to stay at in Burney. The rooms are decent but most importantly they are clean. Also the motel owners and staff are polite and treat you like family! Being away from home can be tough but being away and in the care of such a warm group of people makes all the difference. The motel advertises on its sign that it is a AAA approved establishment with a 2-Diamond rating. That is completely false, as I learned when I contacted AAA to complain about the service I received. I sent AAA a photograph of the fraudulent sign as evidence and strongly suggested they should take some action against the owners. read more

The manager is rude. The first morning at 10:02 am, he called my room, yelling at me, to pay up, or get out in 5 minutes. So I hurried up to the office, to pay for another night. He asked for my drivers license again. Next morning at 9 am, maid was calling my room for the manager, saying pay up or check out! I replied, checkout is 10 am, & Im leaving! At 10:02 am, manager came into my room, tearing the blankets off my bed, saying again, I'm stupid, that my Drivers license was left in his office, so i helped him take my pillow cases off, and he said he would meet me in the office. A moment later, he denied having my ID, but held up, 4 other peoples ID! Then he called the Sheriff on me, saying I was trespassing! You also only get two coffee pods, for two cups of weak coffee. If you want more single pods, they charge you $1 more. Rooms are not vacummed, nor the bedspread, changed, between customers. read more

Cute throwback to the 50s motel but it was not a cute experience. The comforter had the remnants of a woman's "monthly visit", the drains in the sink were clogged and the bathtub drain was so clogged we were standing in 12" of water at the end of a quick shower. As we were walking out of the room, my husband threw our son a sock that he had left behind-problem was that our son did not wear socks that weekend! For $117 a night the motel was a huge disappointment and pretty nasty. read more

We drove through a few other motels that looked like people were living there, but this motel only had some PH&E workers from out of town and a few other people. I often travel to Burney for work. I've stayed at Shasta Pines about 2 dozen times. The new building has large rooms. They are always clean. The "King bed" room comes with a TV, microwave, fridge, little sofa and seating area, desk, and King size bed. The heating and A/C work well. The toiletry accomodations are slim (shampoo, soap), so bring your own. The owner, Gary, is very nice and remembers returning patrons, which is appreciated. When he knows I'm coming in late, he turns the light on in the room for me and makes sure the temperature is decent. The landscaping and parking lot is always clean. They were upgrading the WIFI when I was there (adding more wireless routers). The motel is walking distance to food and drinks. In recognizing this motel for what it is (a clean, nice motel in a very small town, NOT a luxury resort), I give it 4 stars! read more
