Unfortunately, I can't give too much of a positive review. The atmosphere of this place was great, you can tell it's a lively place. However, we were sat at 5pm, our order wasn't taken until 5:30, and our server didn't come back until around 6 with only waters -- no verbal interaction, no drinks from the bar, and no update on food. Great place for food and drink the nachos are huge for a small order and great choices of beer. The floor of this place is really cool it came from the old stadium. I really have to thank the staff at Shaunghnessy's for being not only being patient but really fun. After my wedding we had everyone come down for an after party here and legit had a blast. I'm sure we were so loud and obnoxious which is why I have to thank them for hanging in there and being great and accommodating. Such a great location and the drinks are wonderful! Really nothing Irish about the place , non descript, no Irish food or beers. Stick to Kitty Hoynes or Coleman's if you are looking for an Irish Pub .Didn't help that service was awful , only six other people in the bar. read more

we're in town for the su game. got to the bar about 1230 and ordered buffalo wings and putine no silverware was given so my wife grabed a roll from another table. the "manager" mean muged her for a bit than said, in the loudest most unnecessary tone, " all you had to do is ask". i let it go. then i bit into a raw ass wing. and i said to the manager" all you have to do is serve cooked chicken wings" she said "you dont have to be rude". i said " you dont think you were rude yelling at my wife?" then she yelled for the bartender to come over and take the wings off my bill. no apology. just figured $12 was what i wanted. i gave the $12 to the bartenders hey theres plenty if good places to eat in syracuse and everyone is beyond hospitable. shaughnessys pub isnt one of them amd this "manager" is uninployable. read more

Great atmosphere and great food! Came for dinner around 5:00 and we seated immediately. Our servers was super nice. The menu is small but has some great options! The burgers were amazing. My wife and I went here on a Friday night at 12:00 thinking since the bar is open till 1 it would be ok. We walked in at sat at a very noisy bar, which is fine, and waited for a bartender to come over and take our order. After a few minutes of waiting the woman walked over to the POS terminal in front of us and didn't look up just kept tying and said "did you decide on anything?" Not even saying hello how are you? I came here with a few other ladies for our monthly dinner, and it was good, but not great. It was unbelievably loud, but that could have been the crowd (there was a bowling convention in Syracuse). There are lots of beers on tap and some good mixed drinks... our favorite was the Orange Mule. We got several appetizers.... loved the nachos, shrimp sliders, and pretzels. If you are going with a super casual loud group of your own, you might love it... it just wasn't for me! read more

Meh. He pretzel pups were good, but they over hyped the Reuben big time (if your looking for the best, won't be found here). It's a cool atmosphere, decent beer selection. The fries have a ranch seasoning on them, but they aren't as tasty as normal pub fries (more like Applebees). For a hotel restaurant, it was okay. read more

Love this place. Came here with a coworker for lunch and we both plan on returning. Menu was right-sized; and everything we tried was delicious. Beer selection was good, and portion sizes were large! Service is terrible - bottom line. The manager on shift appeared annoyed and was seriously borderline rude. This place was so bad, I decided to take the time, create a Yelp account and talk about how terrible this experience was. To paint the entire picture, we did decide to come here on 2 March 2019 and it was the night of the local Syracuse Crunch game. We knew the place would be crowded, so we arrived 2 Hours before we had to leave for the game. My Wife and I are from the Fort Drum area and have never been to the place, so we went on a recommendation from a friend. We were seated fairly quickly so no complaints here. And this is where the problems started... We ordered very quickly, and waited 30 minutes- come and go. The waiter stated the food will be out shortly. 45 minute mark, no food. We finally cornered the waiter for the last time and said - You keep dragging us along, if you don't tell us in the next 5 minutes what is going on we are going to have to leave - His response - "Stuff Happens" (really?) And sure enough, our food finally arrives. The kicker here, the food was normal bar food, burger ...club....fish and chips - Nothing fancy at all.. And the other kicker is, - the food was cold . So that was it, we decided to talk the manager that was border line rude 2 hours prior, and to his credit - he did apologize and offered to close out our drink tab. I did not want him paying for myself and my wife's drinks, but he would not take my money. I believe he also gave some other friends some coupons for some lunch stuff. I didn't want any of these either - because I will never come back to this place, and its a shame because the atmosphere was great and we really liked the setup. As a small business owner, I can honestly say, neither the Manager or the server, I would ever have on my team and this is why. #1 When you are greeted by the manager and he is disgruntled - he represents the establishment. Even if he was having a bad day/moment, he needed to keep that in his lane, not bring it in ours. #2 The server could have solved all this mess and just been honest with us, he forgot about us and then rushed the order in. Then he left the food sitting out. I am sure, all of us at the table wouldn't have been too upset, waiting almost 2 hours for bar food - if the food would have come out warm/hot... While I give it a 1 star, its 100 percent for costumer service and to be fair, the manager did try to make thinks right at the end. And to show you how honest I am, the food actually looked good, its a shame, but there appears to be a ton other places around Syracuse ...that value the customer! read more

A nice modern pub. It appears to be brand new. Staff was friendly and courteous and both the ale and the fish and chips I had were good. It is a mix between a modern bar and an Irish pub, but more on the modern side with less influence from an Irish pub, which is fine by me. You won't feel weird here pulling up your laptop and working. I'll go here again on this trip but likely not to the Marriott that's above due to the negative experience there. read more

They have a great bar area setup but unfortunately the bar service is god awful. I've been there multiple times now and each time it's the same. Bartenders either ignore you or struggle to be able to make drinks. I can't imagine how it would be if the place is actually packed. They do have a good selection of bottle beers and drafts. My husband and I are staying at the hotel and called down to order food around 930 when the restaurant is open until 10pm. They stated they were closed and everything had been cleaned up, the could offer chips and salsa, given we didn't have a choice, we went down to pick up our food. The bartender was running around throwing things and garbage on the floor trying to rush to get out of there well before they were even supposed to be closed. The rest of the kitchen staff had already left, the waitress who brought our our measly order was very nice and was looking at the bartender about the same way I was, like she shouldn't be there if she was so unhappy. You could tell she was embarrassed. Overall, if you are staying at the Marriott, I would suggest making sure you order a little earlier from another restaurant and don't rely on on Shaughnessy's to be there for you. I don't expect a lot from hotel bars and restaurants...and this one met what I expected. Go to the bar for drinks, not for food. I ordered the chicken sandwich for 2 reasons: 1) I like chicken, and 2) it is often pre done and not hot. This was the case here. Chicken was barely warm and had been cooked way earlier and thrown under a lamp. Fries were also cold. Politely asked for it to be reheated and bartender offered a new meal which was very much appreciated. Unfortunately it was not much better. That said the drinks were well made, local beers are great and bartenders are good. Usual business crowd. If you're not trapped for the night as I was there are plenty of good restaurants in the immediate area. read more

Stayed at the hotel with my husband. For lunch I had the flat iron steak. It was dull and overpriced. Returned for dinner my husband liked his beer and we agreed that his grilled cheese lacked flavor. My fish and chips was the worst. Half my chips were soggy and the other half were burnt to a crisp. My fish was flat in flavor and the crust was soggy in grease. The one thing they should boast about is service, which was excellent. Overall, great place for drinks. I brought 2 Ladies to eat there 2 weeks ago . They are elderly and it took a bit to convince them to go with me to downtown. When we arrived we were seated and greeted. The manager came over and chatted with us, the food was great and the staff even better. The manager walked us to the door when leaving. My 2 friends turned to me and said that's the way customers should be treated. They both loved it there and plan a return visit soon. One lady is 88 the other 78. I've eaten here twice and will not return. First time I had the Shaughnessy, it was fatty and grizzly. Sent it back and it was no better the second time. Decided to give it a second try recently...I love corned beef but I didn't want to take a chance. First time they didn't have the beef on weck but they assured us they had the famous rolls. The beef was extremely overcooked/dry and the roll had approximately 8 carroway seeds and no salt. My side was a garden side salad but they ran out of Italian dressing. Who does that?? read more

Worst experience of my life. My friends and I stopped by after a concert because we were starving. It wasn't crowded when we walked in. The bar tender told us to pick a seat and someone would be over. 15 mins later no one came over, yet waiters walked by us several times. We made our way back to the bar to see if we could be served.. the woman bar tender was very rude. It took us so long to get our food. And even better: when the food came out it was placed at the opposite side of the bar from us so we watched several drunk girls stick their hands in our food and eat it. We were appalled. In the lovely old rehabilitated former Hotel Syracuse. It does not feel anything like an Irish pub inside. There is no warmth or ambience. It feels like a bowling alley coffee shop from the 70's with glass cases sadly displaying old Syracuse area sports memorabilia in a somewhat hodge lodge manner ( a baseball bat is displayed on the top of two "somethings" that are covered with green dinner napkins wound up with rubber bands). Although the menu tries hard to promote the Irish theme, there are only a few authentic items and execution of the dishes falls flat. I ordered a flat iron steak which came pre-sliced and drowning in unordered albeit tasty gravy (there was no mention of the gravy on the menu). The fish and chips were soggy and uninteresting. Was anxious to check this place out. I have to say I will never go back. Way too loud at the bar, couldn't hear anything. Came in on a Saturday afternoon to watch the Syracuse lacrosse game. Ordered the potato soup to find out they were out of it.Really? No soup on a Sat afternoon..Ordered the kimmiweck which was disgusting. Nothing but fatty meat and not very much of it. Bartenders are terrible. Absolutely no personality at all. No interaction with patrons. No one even ask how ours meals were.
