Cozy pub vibes right in the heart of Syracuse! My boyfriend and I stumbled upon Shaughnessy's Irish Pub on a Sunday night when most places nearby were already closed--and it turned out to be a happy accident! The pub was quiet when we arrived but quickly filled up, giving it a great energy without feeling too crowded. We shared the nachos and a mix of wings--both delicious, with the perfect balance of flavor and crunch. I had a glass of white wine (nothing extraordinary, but still tasty), and my boyfriend ordered a Guinness and immediately noted how perfect the pour was--exactly what you'd hope for at an Irish pub. All in all, a great spot with solid food, a relaxed vibe, and friendly service. Would definitely recommend if you're in Syracuse and looking for a cozy place that stays open a little later!

This was my second time since my last review here. Two things I've observed since... the servers are incredibly friendly but it is pretty slow in there, a good thing to keep in mind. They do make great drinks. The nachos were okay, they came with chicken which wasn't on the menu description. The menu is limited before a crunch game, nachos were listed at $11, which I ordered. When the tab came I was up-charged $6 for chicken... I didn't order. Definitely not ideal, but the location is fun, servers are friendly so I will happily give them another shot!

I am here for a conference and this pub is conveniently in the basement of my hotel. Service was fast and friendly. I got the 8oz angus burger with fries. The fries were very good. The burger was also good but a little rubbery. It's a fun place to hang out!

Stopped by for quickly for some drinks and a snack. We shared the nachos and we got martinis. They were both made perfectly as ordered. The staff was nice and the food came out quick. Nachos were yummy and I would get them again nice option in the lower level if the Marriott with late hours.

Traditional(ish) pub menu so not the best choice if you want "lighter fare" but swell if you want quesadillas and sweet potato fries (waffle cut!). Quesadilla was filled with chicken and bacon so nicely savory - sufficiently filling that (with those fries) I left a 1/4 behind. For a reason that defies logic, it was served with (homemade?) tortilla chips as a side... why? A friend ordered the fish and chips but subbed in onion rings - huge order, looked good. Service was great. Live music at ~5:30 made it hard to talk. We were able to secure street parking (Flowbird).

I was really unhappy here but the food was really good, so it makes up for it. It took around 15 minutes for someone to take our drink orders and over an hour to get our food. We asked for no lettuce on a wrap and it almost seemed like they put extra on it!!! My quesadilla was REALLY good though, I almost feel like it was worth the wait.

    Limp barely salted fries.

I ordered the fish and chips and it came in this Etsy styled fry basket with what looks like food safe paper printed like newspaper. The fries were on the bottom, and the fish was on the top both fresh out of the fryer. The problem was the fish was crispy on the top side, but because they stacked everything in the basket, all the steam and moisture from the fries, softened the underside of the fish and made the fries limp. It was probably the worst fish and chips I've ever had. They should auction off all their fry basket trinkets and buy bigger plates and just plate up the dang food. They're not serving the stuff out on the street like London is and it's not newspaper so don't try to be something you are not.

Typical sports bar / pub food. So not surprising I wasn't wowed. Got nachos and chicken noodle soup. Sat at the bar. Service was good though - bartenders were nice and attentive. We were there on a Wednesday too so trivia started at 7pm which was fun!

It was a perfect time for a Saturday night....not too busy when we arrived but it was getting full by the time we left. We were on the dining room side and it's quieter than the bar side, which was nice for our dinner. The bar side is so much fun and they have music sometimes. Our server was busy....the outside tables make for lots of running around, but our service was very good. My friend had the Espresso Martini and said it was excellent.... good flavor and nice and creamy. She also really enjoyed her beet salad with a grilled shrimp "add-on". She asked for the oranges to be left off, (she has an allergy) , our server made a note for the kitchen and the salad came out perfect. I ordered the Irish Meatloaf which is made with lamb and beef, it came with potatoes, vegetables a delicious creamy cabbage sauce and brown bread with butter. We were too full to order dessert this time but next time we're going to try the Bailey's Cheesecake!

Live singing was nice (we sat in the back and that was the right volume). Food took awhile to come out. I selected Irish breakfast, while my friends got sandwiches. White pudding: saltier than Ireland. Otherwise reasonable, but definitely wouldn't pass muster across the sea. My friend's champ (mashed potatoes) looked promising, but turned out to be pretty bland. His wife liked the brisket, but the sandwich wasn't served on bread remotely Irish. Ratings: 4 for ambiance, 2 for food, 3.5 for service minus 1 star for the inappropriate hostess. And then she came back and did it again. "Were you on Wi-Fi the whole time?" And slapped me on the shoulder. The manager Alexis was very nice and apologetic about it, but even the beer omitted from the receipt doesn't change the quality of my experience. Sorry. Do not go here.

After a evening of shopping, it was time to wind down so considering the options we chose Coleman's. Place was packed as always. The band was setting up to start to play in an hour. We got a table out back. Hankering for a shepherds pie that is one of the premier meals here. But before that we got ourselves, some spinach and artichoke dip. I haven't had this in what feels like decades. It was pretty darn good. Plenty of chips and plenty of dip. So much so, that I brought the leftovers home. So both of us did go with the shepherds pie. Both of us really enjoyed it. It came out, piping hot, with the mashed potatoes on top, covering up the beef, sauce, peas, onions, and whatever else they put in this thing! Dropping from 5 to 3 stars for the horrible customer service. I was in the area visiting friends and they took us to Coleman's for dinner and a concert. What a fun local spot! The food was great, everyone enjoyed their meal. I got the guinness beef stew which came out steaming hot in a bread bowl. I loved the gravy, if anything wish there was a little more meat but the flavor was delicious. The service great, our waitress was a nice young lady who was attentive and helpful. Afterwards we went outside for a concert and drinks. The band was playing older and newer covers until 10pm. Was a really fun end to our night, highly recommend.
