One other person mentioned to just make it a day trip to come here but I think it really depends on your interests. This is a really nice resort that would be much more expensive in a more populated location or easier to get to destination. If you don't golf, they have pontoon boats with a captain you can pay for to explore the surrounding river, kayaks, canoes, atv's, and bikes that you can rent, tennis/basketball on site, walking trails, and a really nice pool and hot tub. There's also a spa but we didn't try that. There's a few waterfalls within 20 minutes for some short hikes but we didn't get to see them. It's a beautiful area but relatively small area without much to do outside of the resort. They also have some winter sport options. If you do golf, the 9 hole course is easy and short. It's pretty well maintained, and if you time it right it's pretty cheap. They have an off-peak $19 nine hole rate for Monday's and can also give you clubs to borrow/rent. Food wise they basically have one nice restaurant and one bar restaurant. They both have stuff for the kids, and the food at breakwaters (the bar) was surprisingly good. I'm not a huge boneless wings fan but the sauce was nice and the Cajun seasoned chip shaped fries were great. We also tried the four seasons burger with the salted caramel sauce which was awesome as well as the classic cheese curd side. We finished it off with a shared slice of rich and delicious chocolate sin cake. The bar also has bands on the weekend (ice cream parlor on site also opens up on the weekends) and it gets very busy here with locals, especially for Packers games. Breakfast was boxed probably due to covid. It was just ok with the sort of pre-packaged items you might expect in a continental breakfast minus a waffle/pancake machine. Coffee wasn't great (pre-ground bag style with watery, weak result) and this part of our stay did not match the rest. The room was very comfortable with large beds and plenty of space. Salt water, heated pool was great for the kids and hot tub perfect for adults. Our kids really enjoyed this and we had the whole place to ourselves. I would recommend coming late summer or early fall as we did although winter could be fun too if it's not too cold. We paid a similar price (sub $200) for the comfort inn in Marquette but this is a better value higher level stay.

The casino was clean, and we noticed no smoke odor. And they have a no-smoke policy, including vaping. Also, the staff was amiable and helpful throughout our visit. The friendly security guard greeted us as we entered the casino, which was a positive sign. The gift shop is only cash; sadly, most items are made in China. They offered some things by Pendleton Woolen Mills at $53 wallets to around $300 for coats, but it's pricey if you're insisting on cash only, but that's my opinion. Most importantly, the casino has no taxes because you're on the Menominee reservation. So, it is what it is. They had photos along the wall close to the gift shop. As someone with Menominee lineage, I wish they offered more history of the area and told the story that many books need to teach about the Menominee nation.

It was all decorated in the Northwoods rustic style, the kitchen had dishes/cups/silverware/spices/coffee filters, a regular microwave, full size fridge/freezer, and regular drip coffeemaker (not some ridiculous hotel coffee maker, I hate those things). We were very lucky to get this place for a night in between reservations and were sorry we couldn't stay longer. It's just a few miles outside of town, where you can (and we did) get groceries and some terrific fish fry easily. The owners are just across the driveway and were very friendly. They have a couple of dogs - the collie came over and visited us a few times (this was 100% okay with us, my middle son *loved* having a doggy friend for a day). Oh, there's a firepit and picnic table outside, too. This place was amazing. Just a little more than a hotel room, but with space to move and the sound of a babbling brook just outside the front door.

I came here for the first time with my extended family last weekend and have really mixed feelings…read moreabout our stay. The good: staff was friendly and helpful. Prices are competitive. Our campsite was nice and we had a nice view of Bear Lake. The main restrooms were cleaned constantly throughout the day and were well stocked. There's a nice big playground in the middle of the campground that my niece just loved. There were a lot of families there and I get the sense that this could be a place where people just love to come; it certainly seemed that way based off how many people had seasonal sites super decked out. The cons: The sites are all identified with their numbers, but I think they could be a little more clear. Both myself and my in-laws accidently set up in the wrong sites because of the way that we were instructed to drive in; the identification markers were after where our site was. So we had to be one spot over from where we were, but we actually both accidently set up in the sites just after where we should have been. It really wasn't a big deal and clearly it was our own fault, but it could have been more clear. We were excited to maybe play on the mini-golf course, but there was a lot of debris on the greens and the grass all around it really needed to be cut. The decorations around the grounds too look like they could use some TLC. We checked out the (tiny, super tiny) sandy beach area and thought it could have been cleaned up a bit. We went down right away one morning and found garbage on the ground & random dirty beach towels where towels don't belong. Later in the afternoon when we went back down there to see what was going on we saw the same pieces of garbage and towels in the same spots. We thought surely by then someone from the staff would have come cleaned it up. We were looking forward to getting in the water and possibly renting some of the water equipment they had at the campground (which would have been so nice), but we heard from several people there was swimmers itch in the water. What a letdown! Not the campgrounds fault at all, but our experience was less than what it could have been. I think this place has potential to be really fantastic, just needs a little more TLC.

Overall it's a nice campground. However do not expect to bring your drinks and snacks to the beach…read morefor a beach day. Not only will you need to buy to stock your camper for your stay you are also EXPECTED to buy drinks/food from the bar/camp store/tiki bar. It has everything from hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, rafting, ATVs, you name it... The campgrounds are set up for small/individual groups to larger groups. Volleyball, hammocks a basketball hoop and other fun things are all around. The cabins are very clean and nice, AC/heat, private bathrooms and showers with nice hot water. Comfortable beds and linens. Then there is the awesome bar and restaurant. Order the Pizza or flatbread, it is excellent, and being from Chicago we know pizza! Eric is a fantastic cook and anything on the menu will taste great. The bar offers all sorts of beers and any other drink you want. Eric and Tom run this place, they know the area well and Eric is an expert on just about anything outdoors. Very friendly place and people. The mountain biking is awesome and if you are a mountain biker you MUST make this trip. The trails in the Nicolet National Forest are some of the best in the Midwest. Beautiful, single track, a bit technical in places, boulders, and the scenery is always beautiful. You may even see a black bear. Trails are well marked in the Nicolet. Rafting the Wolf River is exciting too, or you can kayak it as many kayakers come from all over the Midwest to kayak here. We are rafters, we love it, usually see a bald eagle or 2, lots of turtles, and just a great time. We like to go to Herb's Rafting which works out of Crab and Jacks, a bar/restaurant where a lot of motorcycle riders stop. It is always fun around Memorial Day when there are tons of kids camping at Bear Paw and then rafting the river. They get out at Crab and Jacks where there are numerous Harley Davidsons and riders watching all of this. Quite the different groups of people doing what they enjoy. Thanks to Eric for being such a great guy and Tom with some stories....oh boy, get Tom to tell you some stories... he loves that .... Some photos of the Bear Paw Tracks we came across in May, 2019 in the Nicolet National Forest on the way to the single track. We were lucky enough to see the Mama Bear and her Cub one of the days too--I was thrilled and scared to death! Thank you Eric and Tom Sue and Patrick Morton Grove, IL
