I stumbled here on accident after visiting the military museum 10 minutes south of here. I was impressed with how great the plate of food tasted. The amount of chicken they have was very generous and none of the pieces were overcooked. They were moist and the skin was a bit crispy. It was spicy and savory. The rice and veggies were also tasted great. It was portioned just right to have multiple delicious bites of food. The food here tastes way better than naf naf. We were planning to have super at a different Middle Eastern restaurant nearby but entered Shawarma House by mistake. It has a larger menu than the other restaurant, so we decided to try it. The two of us each ordered an entrée (Sheesh Tawook and Beef Shawarma) and shared a couple of side dishes (Falafel and Pickle Mix). The meats were flavorful and tender, and the falafel was quite tasty. I personally like pickled vegetables, but the pickled cucumber, carrots and daikon in the mix were too salty for me. There were some customers who were obviously from the Middle East, which is a good sign for me. Overall, I consider the restaurant to be of good value. read more

Shawarma House is delicious! I've only done takeout so far (twice now), but both times were excellent. I tried the beef shawarma plate, which comes with beef shawarma slices over rice, tomato, onion, and their delicious garlic sauce. I always get the chicken shawarma plate and it was okay this time around, but not what it used to be. Still love the garlic sauce, though. This place left much to be desired. The cashier was rude, I assumed it was because it was late at night, but his short remarks and negative demeanor made for an unpleasant experience. The wait for the food was a bit long, but the food was not worth the wait. The lamb chunks were massive, chewy, and not the best with the salad soggy and not great. They also charge a 3.5% card fee, but no signs are posted saying this and I could have sworn this is illegal to do on debit cards. That alone warrants a 1-star review. My and my friend ordered a beef and chicken sandwiches. I confirmed the order before taking a seat, and when the food came out the cook didn't get the order right and by mistake and put the fries with a different sandwich, no big deal, but the fact the server didn't wear any gloves makes me think he just moved them from one plate to another behind the doors, in addition the cook didn't have me the extra pickles with my order. Next point is that the Beef Shawarma is super thin, for the same price as competitors but also completely dry, not even $1 garlic sauce can save it, I had to throw half of it out because it was just inedible. Chicken shawarma was alright though for the same price you are guaranteed to get 50% if not x2 the size of the Shawarma. And that's on that. read more

My second hole-in-the-wall today. Ordered Lamb Kabobs and tabbouleh. The tabbouleh was a bit "wet" for my taste but quite good. The lamb was INCREDIBLE. Perfect texture and flavor. Not greasy or dry. For starters I want to say I'm absolutely obsessed with the Shawarma House chain. However, the Oakland location is lacking.. there has been multiples I've tried to call ahead and there has been no answer and then when I show up there's no one here. Today I ordered two things and they only made one of the things I ordered. If I had to give advice I'd say stick to going to the Brookfield location where they value service. I stopped here after finding several places in the area that I wanted to try were closed. Parking was easy right in front of the place with a sign saying crazy deal Gyro platter for $6.49 so that was not what I was thinking but that sounds good. I ordered the Gyro platter to go which took about 10 minutes and I was off on my way. The gyro platter looked terrible like someone shook the whole container because the onions were everywhere on top of the frys under the frys. I went to Walgreens across the street to return Redbox so I thought I would just eat in the parking lot and I noticed that they didn't give me any Tzatziki sauce, what gyro place doesn't give sauce with the gyro because that's what makes a gyro a gyro. So I walk across the and ask the guy if I can have a couple gyro sauces and he stares at me like how dare you ask for sauce with your gyro and turns to the kitchen with out saying a word and hands me 1 sauce, seriously. I tasted the gyro meat by it self and it was on the dry side and pretty mild for gyro meat. The platter came with batter frys which were hot and crispy with a soft center. The gyro platter came garnished with onion, tomato's and feta cheese and a pita bread. The gyro was not very good compared to the other place down the street that is very popular. read more

This is probably the most bland food I've ever had. $17.92 for the chicken shish tawook platter, the sides of hummus and salad were a third filled. The chicken had zero seasoning and same for the rice. They also charge 1.00 extra for a small container of garlic sauce which should be included with the meal.. I don't mind paying a high price for something good, but the lack of seasoning and small portions killed it for me. If you want to eat here, I recommend ordering the sandwich and not the platter. The only difference with the platter is $7.00 and a few tablespoons of a side dish. read more

Best Mediterranean in Milwaukee thus far for me. (I have super fond memories of a place in Michigan that got 5 stars, and Shawarma House just doesn't quite top it for me yet, so it's a 4. But a very solid 4) Since it's covid-19 days, I'm just making a mental note on the grubhub delivery service yelp uses - me no like. I don't get food delivered often, so I don't know if this is the norm, but there are some serious up-pricing going on with the service. Then they charge you a delivery fee. Then they want you to tip the driver. One entree was priced $18 on the yelp site (via grubhub, I assume), and it was only $14 at the restaurant. Check my menu pictures as of May 2020 if you're sensitive about this stuff. I'm glad we picked up ourselves. Called the restaurant and ordering was easy enough. When picking up the food, noticed cashier wasn't wearing a mask, but had a nice smile. At least I had a mask on. The food: KEFTA KABAB WRAP. I didn't know you had the choice of the wrap (they have regular pita or shrak), and they just made me one with shrak by default (it's $1 more than regular pita). But I would get the shrak in any case - it's really good. The menu says this is ground meat, but it's like gyro meat - maybe ground, and then packed in together? So it's not crumbly. Very tasty. LAMB SHEESH KABAB. The lamb meat was tender and perfectly cooked. The smell wasn't overpowering like I've had in other places, and that was a plus for me personally. The dish comes with Jerusalem salad (eh, not my favorite), a choice of hummus or baba ghannouj (went for the latter, which is roasted eggplant cream - oh wow, so delish. I think I'm going to ask for more of this instead of the salad is possible. It is so good, with a smoky flavor hard to mimic at home), and one pita bread (which was so so). I wanted to try their tabouleh, but they didn't have that. Sad. Oh, and it also comes with rice... which is so good.... I actually would be happy with just their rice and baba ghannouj. Mmmm. So overall, happy. I'm going again. And this despite the rope? or something like rope I found buried in my rice. Got me grossed out, but I had already eaten over 2/3 of the rice when I found it. (See pix) I seriously have no idea what it was... Maybe something like the rope that holds a roast chicken together? Although this is my first review here, I've had their food many times through the years, and had never had this kind of a problem before. So I'm noting it, but not reflecting it on my rating. May as well start writing delivery reviews. Granted I've ordered from Schwarma House a few times over the years before we went completely through the looking glass. I've always found their food solid and reliable, portions a good value, and delivery on time and not missing items (the last one not always under the restaurant's control). But wait until you're sick of sandwiches and pizza, and Schwarma House is kind of the bomb. I got the All Inn Grill plate with extra tahini and hot sauce and it was one of the most flavorful--not to mention photogenic--meals I'd eaten in awhile. The kebabs were great, the rice perfectly seasoned. I got a shrak bread on the side because shrak bread is awesome. But the surprise on the plate was the baba ghanoush. It was smoky and acid-y with perceptible chunks of eggplant, which I promise is a good thing, even if you're not an eggplant partisan. If you live on the east side I'd recommend Schwarma House be in your late-night delivery rotation, though it makes a mean lunch too. read more

I ordered the Vegetarian Friendly Green Plate I called asking if I could substitute dawali for the yogurt salad and they said no, even though I only wanted like 2 or 3 not a full order.... told me I would get double hummus instead which I was disappointed but fine with. upon receiving my food there was NO falafel & NO tabouleh ..... the restaurant didn't call me back, no one informed me they were out of anything else. the chicken shawarma was the dryest I've ever had didn't seem to have any garlic sauce and had a pocket of mayonnaise at the corner end...ew. mainly upset with my plate....like half of what I was supposed to get with it wasn't there. Man, a small shop amongst a bunch of Mediterranean food, but this small shop is spacious, clean and comfortable on the inside, and the food packs a BIG punch! Husband and I had the Sheesh Kabab and the Chicken Koobideh, and they were both very good. The key is the wonderful, soft and chewy bread that they serve their shawarma in - I found myself picking at the bread, craving more of it in each bite. All in all, I'd definitely return to this place for more shawarma! read more

I have ordered take out from Shawarma House a few times now. I've had both the Chicken Shawarma and the Chicken Sheesh Tawook, as well as falafal side. You can make any sandwich a combo with fries and a drink for a couple dollars extra. I'd have to say the Chicken Sheesh Tawook is my favorite, I loved the blend of spices and awesomeness. I've also learned the Shrak Pita is far superior to the regular pita. Th Shrak is thinner, bigger, and actually flavorful. It was recommended to me when I was ordering and being indecisive. The falafal is fantastic. Get at least 6 piece side, you won't regret it. It comes with a delicious dipping sauce. Everything about this side and sauce is perfect! I feel like everything on the menu has pickles in it, but the employees are so mindful of custom orders and everything is made fresh so saying "no pickles" is not a huge hassle. They offer delivery service and I was told online ordering as well. The dine-in area is relatively simplistic but clean and does the job. It's much more casual than the previous restaurant that occupied this space and I'd honestly prefer to take my food to go. Overall, Shawarma house is very good food for the price and I recommend for Arbaic food and late night dining. read more

Stopped in last night after watching the Yelp Volleyball Team dominate. I had beef shawarma on my mind even though kebobs also sounded like a great idea. The format is kind of on the fast casual side. I ordered and paid at the counter. Found a seat and my food was brought out to me. I served myself a beverage from the fountain dn grabbed plastic dining ware and napkins. When I finished, I bussed my table. I ordered the All In Shawarma Plate ($10.99), which includes a bed of rice topped with chicken shawarma, beef shawarma and some shaved pine nuts (alert to those with allergies or a dislike for pine nuts...I don't think pine nuts are in the menu description but they are on the plate). There were also sides of a colorful and fresh salad of diced tomato, cucumber, and onions, as well as a half pita bread, hummus and a falafel, so I was able to try a lot of the menu on one plate. I tasted a couple of pieces of chicken and beef shawarma first because I couldn't wait. The flavors were great. The beef was a bit on the dry side, while the chicken was a little better being slightly tender. I started enjoyed the salad, hummus, pita and falafel first. All were solid. The hummus was the creamiest texture I've had, and the falafel was among the better that I've tasted with a crispy shell and flavorful center. The rice pilaf was moist and complemented the shawarma well. There was so much food on this plate, I barely put dent in the shawarma and rice after finishing the salad, hummus, falafel and pita, so today's lunch consisted of leftover shawarma and rice. It was still very good. So, the beef shawarma wasn't the best I've had in town, but good enough. I will go back to the Shawarma House to try the kebobs and maybe give the beef shawarma another try at an earlier time of day. read more

They have amazing falafel, chicken shawarma and hummus and we often eat here. The service is decent and quick. The ambience is casual and so is the seating. They have sandwiches and platters which are great options to have as you can decide depending on how hungry you are. The platters come with rice, meat skewer or falafel or shawarma. The sandwich will have any veggies you request in a wrap. I like their garlic sauce but have to say it's not the best I have tasted and I have eaten plenty of different ones. There is room for taste improvement there. They are located in a busy area so parking is street parking typically or nearby lots. read more

Atmosphere was great with lovely soundtrack creating good vibes. Baba ganoush with felafel and warm bread accompanied my All in Shawarma - Hit the spot Chicken was tender and flavorful and beef with exotic savory spices (cinnamon?) was moist and super tender.
