The ordering part was a bit confusing at first maybe because I was not very clear or maybe because the truck person's first language was not English or probably both, he heard 2 chicken shawarmas without tomatoes. When my order was ready I was confused when he started handing me two of the same thing. He then realized the confusion and was nice enough to refund me and also compensate me with delicious baklava. Food Cart~Lamb Arabi with fries was so good. I believe it's a shawarma that cut into 4's and French fries were piping hot/seasoned very well. Chicken Plate~we didn't care for it lacked flavor (chicken was dry) but, the hummus-(soft warm pita bread) side salad and tzatziki sauce was the star of the dish. Everyone palates are different but, this is my honest review. Service~The owner was very nice and, answered all of our questions. It was the first time trying Mediterranean Food and, we plan to visit again to try a few other items that sounded really good. Ambiance~it's several wonderful food carts to choose from but, we had only one in mind. We were on our way to an actual Mediterranean Restaurant when we looked over to our left. Not as flavorful as other places I've tried. The rice was very bland and so was the hummus. Good portions compared to other locations. I love the beef shawarma pita. It is HUGE! And the beef is super flavorful. The pita is always super soft, I love their hot sauce on there. It's definitely a value for the price. Shawarma Express is a food truck in a unique food truck dining area called "Core, collective Oregon eateries." The dining court is well maintained and has clean, attractive, and proper restrooms. Now back to Shawarma Express . . . The operators were friendly folks who did things right. Unlike many food trucks, they had a picture menu for every entree (see pic), which I found very helpful for finding what I was looking for. I had the Lamb Arabi, a tasty burrito-style wrap of lettuce, tomato, onion, feta cheese, tzatziki sauce, homemade garlic sauce, and a side of fries. The Lamb Arabi was tasty, and the fries were okay. They were above average but nothing to write home about. Overall, it was a great food truck options and one I wouldn't hesitate to revisit. read more

This Shawarma Express cart is located in the new CORE pod on se 82nd just south of Powell and is the cart closest to the indoor seating hall. The man operating the cart was affable and very friendly. We ordered a Falafel Plate, Kebab Plate and Baklava. The plates came with generous sides of humus and Tzatziki with a dolma. The falafel and meat was served on top a nice portion of rice and salad. The kebabs looked nothing like the menu photo which showed 2 pieces of grilled koobideh kebabs. The meat was all fallen apart and placed on a heap on top of the rice with tahini squirted on top. (See photo) The ground meat was succulent and flavorful however did not resemble kabobs in any way. The falafel platter came with 6 falafels which were all very tough to bite through and very dry. Located in a block of just food trucks, Shawarma Express reigns supreme in terms of most Yelp reviews and highest ratings out of all the nearby food trucks, so I decided to try this place after making a complete "circle" (it was more of a square) around the block. I got a delicious Chicken Shawarma Plate for a flat $7 (gotta love no sales tax in Oregon), and it tasted almost as good as Halal Guys, and that's pretty darn good. A lot of the food trucks on this block are probably hit or miss, but you can't go wrong with Shawarma Express! read more
