This was our first time trying Shawarma Loca and unfortunately the cashier wasn't very welcoming nor helpful in guiding us to any recommendations. Fortunately, this wasn't our first Shawarma experience so with ordering on our shoulders, we decided to try a variety of items to see what hits. Break it down: We placed our orders and found our seating while we waited for our order to be called. From the tables you have a view of the grill, and how that view does a great job at building your appetite LOL. Not more than 15 minutes later our order was called. Perfect. Pick up your food from the counter? Ok, but, why wasn't there any napkins? They didn't even place the food on a tray to carry? No So with bowl in hand, wraps placed on top of the bowl, sauces in the other, I walked grateful to have the hand-eye coordination to juggle everything back to the table. What did we order? - Loca Fries(bowl): 2/5 Stars Very dry. Nothing special about this, don't waste the space. Dry dry blah. - Chicken Garlic Wrap: 4/5 Stars This was nice. Juicy chicken very flavorful, delicious. - Shawarma Beef Wrap: 3/5 Stars Edible, decent flavor without sauces. With sauces it's closer to being 4/5. Overall, Shawarma Loca could use some much needed improvement in the common sense department just to get themselves to standard level of service. As for the food, while the chicken was delicious, the beef dishes were simply too dry and lacked any depth in their flavor profile. Returning Customer? Unless I happen to hear that service and quality of food have drastically improved. It's highly unlikely I'll be returning. I'm always honest when I write any of my reviews. This one that was a little bit hard for me. I always see it on social media and everyone always talking about it. Now keep in mind we went on a Saturday in the afternoon. We were the only people there. I was surprised to find out the place opens till 3:30 in the morning!! The place can use a little bit of extra cleaning on the tables and the floors. The food is really good! I feel like it's overpriced, that's just my opinion. The chicken Shawarma salad is pretty big no lie! It was really good. I wish they had it in a different kind of container where it wasn't so flimsy. A can of soda was $3.25. Just a can! No cup no ice the soda was cold though. It was nice to see the Meat cut outside. Will I be back probably not. I hated seating there listening to the music that was pretty religious. I finally made it to Shawarma Loca after hearing so much about it a year or so ago. I went with my family and as we entered we were told Cash only! We didn't have any cash on us but decided to stay only because I was looking forward to trying it and we had already driven all the way there. So off to the ATM we went. After getting cash we went back in only to find some very unenthusiastic customer service. The tables were dirty, and even though we were the only ones there we had to ask them to clean the table we were seated at. Windows were so dirty as well. The vibe was off at the place. It felt like no one wanted to be there. The food came out quickly and it was just ok. I had read the reviews before going and I don't know if the place was having an off day or what but I will never recommend this place to anyone and I will certainly not return. Great shawerma but be prepared to wait! The shawerma here is great and halal and its usually always busy for a reason. I usually get the chicken loca and I try getting the 24 inch since its a better value, but that leads me to price where this place is quite pricey for a shawerma wrap. Food here was awful! Service is non existant. Theres a self serve kiosk that doesn't really explain what your dish comes with, you can only add what you don't want. It's just terrible. Menu is confusing. Extremely overpriced for what you receive. There's no hummus or falafel or anything that you'd expect from a standard typical Mediterranean food place. The soggy fries were terrible. The place was empty but our two plates still took 20 minutes to come out. The combo plate comes with fries, garlic sauce, mixed pickled veggies and coleslaw. I really liked their boom sauce the most. As for the wrap, I would get the chicken again. The beef was also flavorful but I preferred the chicken. I wish their garlic sauce was more garlicky since it was a bit bland for my liking. My cousin also got the boom boom cocktail. I think the base is a banana smoothie since that's what it tasted to me. I loved the fruit toppings it came with aong with the nuts and cream. I've had their shawarma on 3 occasions, once at the storefront and twice at their food truck. So far I've enjoyed the beef shawarma wrap, chicken shawarma wrap, and chicken boom shawarma wrap. The quality of the meat has been excellent everytime. Sauce wise, i prefer the boom sauce to the original garlic. The wraps can get a little messy towards the end with the sauce and juices gathering and leaking out at the bottom, but a small inconvenience for a delicious meal. It was a straightforward instruction that was blatantly ignored. Beyond the incorrect order, the quality of the food was subpar. The sandwiches were overloaded with vegetables and lacked sufficient protein. The ratio was extremely unbalanced, with very minimal chicken. At over $15 per sandwich after tax, I expected a fair and proportionate serving of meat. Instead, I received what felt like an overpriced vegetarian wrap with traces of chicken. Had this been a budget eatery, I might have understood, but given the pricing, the quality was unacceptable. 2. Customer Service and Sanitation Issues The more concerning issue lies in the service. This restaurant does not offer access to a public restroom. This raises serious questions not only about basic hygiene but also legal compliance, particularly regarding ADA regulations and local public health standards in Anaheim and the state of California. I asked a staff member (a male employee with curly black hair and glasses) if I could use the restroom simply to wash my hands before eating. I made it clear that I wasn't asking for full restroom use--just access to running water to wash my hands before eating a hand-held sandwich. I was told, "The restroom is closed," and was pointed to a wall sanitizer instead. When I asked how employees wash their hands if the restroom is out of order, he said, "There are sinks all over the place." I then politely asked to use one of those sinks. He declined. Minutes later, as I continued to request access to wash my hands, the employee handed me a half-consumed water bottle--a completely unacceptable and unhygienic solution. This gesture felt deeply dehumanizing. In any setting--restaurant, home, or even prison--access to clean water should never be denied. Offering a previously opened water bottle for handwashing was not only unhygienic but also degrading. I would have gladly paid for a sealed bottle or access to a sink had I been given the option. The lack of a restroom isn't due to it being "out of order"--it's due to the staff's unwillingness to allow customers access. This is a recurring issue reflected in many reviews. In fact, a review from just 21 days ago claimed the restroom issue had been resolved. Clearly, it hasn't. Conclusion Between the poorly prepared food, ignored dietary requests, and appalling service, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had. I genuinely felt disrespected and diminished as a customer. No person should be treated as less than human--especially not when they are paying for a service. I would never return to this restaurant, even if it were the only place open. I'd rather skip the meal entirely than subject myself to that treatment again.
