While Kenji Lopez-Alt is driving/cycling around Seattle and trying every teriyaki joint, I am doing something similar with shawarmas. As something that started as my favorite after clubbing late night snack, it's still something I enjoy eating on a regular basis. Shawarma Man recently opened up, and as it is located on my commute between my home and office, I definitely wanted to give it a try. And I would say, the results were fantastic! The chicken shawarma was one of the best versions in Seattle - very fresh, not heavy, good proportions so that it's easy to eat. The place is clean and spacious and the service was warm and welcoming. Loved the logo on the wrapper as well! Overall, a great addition to the neighborhood, bringing a strong contender for shawarma of the year. Will try their falafel and platters next!

I just picked up dinner from this new place. I got an amazing Falafel sandwich and a delicious plate of Hummus. Both dishes were so delicious and the food was prepared by a professional Palestinian Chef that spent his life working in restaurants. I look forward to their full opening to try other menu items.

Update: Returned and enjoyed the falafel sandwich and side of hummus. Very tasty! Pics of menu added.

Very friendly service! Food came out quick and was delicious! Ordered the shawarma platter

We love Shwarma restaurants and we just drove by, noticed and stopped. We were not disappointed. It's very casual, unpretentious. It appeared to us that its owner and friends operated. They were very busy, yet earnest, friendly and helpful. Lots of activity with take out orders being picked up, which is a very good sign. We ate in. Love the creamy hummus with added Calamata olives, a delicious Zhug on top that added flavor to the hummus. The fried falafels were perfect, moist inside and not dry. The Babaganoush was delightful (again with added Zhug on top for extra flavor). All-in-all worth a stop there anytime.

The outside is very unassuming and I you wouldn't guess there was a decent establishment but you walk inside and you are immediately greeted. The person at the register is ready to take your order. There were quite a bit of options! I don't know why but I didn't expect that. I decided to get a Brown Sugar with milk since that's my favorite and it was good! Nice and sweet with not too much ice. The inside is small but they did alright with the space available. There was a little video game corner that I was tempted to stay and mess around with but I was busy. I'm interested in what the other menu options are like and am likely to return!

There's also a small gaming console at one of the corners as well. Going inside, the menu is at the front wall, and they serve tons of things from your regular boba and banh mi sandwiches to some specialty drinks to some pretty loaded vermicelli bowls and even bubble waffles. I was actually overwhelmed with the choices and took a while to decide what I really wanted. For this visit, I got their lemonade galaxy and three egg rolls with fish sauce. Lemonade is really tasty, and there's also a bunch of peach bits inside as well. It also has butterfuly pea flower, which is mild and not too sweet to begin with. Perfect since I didn't want something too strong to go with my egg rolls! They weren't piping hot like I wanted them to be, but I loved that there was slightly more meat than filling and that it wasn't overstuffed with taro unlike some other places I've had back then. I'm sure I didn't get the full experience here given I didn't get the stuff I always see on their IG page like the watermelon slush and banh mi sandwiches, so that's what I'll do next time I come here. Looking past that, I highly recommend this place, which feels like a hard-to-find hole in the wall! You'll want to rely on street parking to reach here if you're going by car.

It's located in the same spot after many decades in Seattle's Wedgwood neighborhood. Since there's several cafes along this stretch of 35th NE, as point of reference, it's two doors south of Wedgwood Broiler. It shares a huge parking lot and adjacent to a Metro bus route. It had a nice autumn hue from the overhead lighting and interior decor. The local art for sale adorning the walls was a nice added touch. Upbeat, welcoming staff. It was full right at noon and brisk walk-in takeout traffic. Nice overhead music to chill, dine, and/or do laptop stuff. They offer the usual bev menu, as well as, breakfast & lunch items, soups, salads, modest pastry case (from Alki Bakery), merch, and coffee roasts from Zoka. The 16oz mocha was well crafted temp wise & good balance of espresso, steamed milk, and chocolate. I also opted for the roast beef panini without the horseradish. Generously filled with roast beef, havarti, mayo, and red onion on savory focaccia. It was provided with au jus and I selected potato salad versus chips. The au jus was not salty, so after dipping, I also sipped the hot broth. Very flavorful and filling. The other panini half I'll have to take home. Thanks to fellow Yelp Elite All Star, Will L for a compelling post. This was a pleasant detour for lunch.

Oh, and a vodka lemonade - you can get cocktails delivered via DoorDash! Everything was super good, especially the chili cheese dog. They were really generous with the chili (a full cup of it) and it was delicious. The lemonade is made from scratch and I really enjoyed that, as well - not too sweet. When we did takeout, we each got a sandwich, and we also got a Chicago dog, "chum bucket" w/ tots, and a handful of cocktails. I'd had kind of a bad week and was basically like, I don't even care, let's just get whatever we want even if it's an insane amount of stuff, haha. They do single serving craft cocktails for takeout in little cans, which is pretty cool. And they were SO GOOD (all with very clever nautical-themed names). I think our favorite was the "No Ship Sherlock" seasonal Moscow mule. The Chicago dog was amazing - based on this and my previous chili cheese dog, I can say without hesitation that their hotdogs are 100% 10/10. The "chum bucket" tots were also really good, and again came with a very generous full cup of chili. I hate to say it because everything else was so good, but the sandwiches were pretty disappointing for the price, we both thought. I had a tuna sandwich and my bf had a veggie sandwich. They used fresh, quality ingredients, but both sandwiches were kind of bland, and a lot smaller than we were expecting for $14 apiece. That's the only reason I dropped a star, but aside from that, they are 5 star all the way. So, we would not revisit the sandwiches, but hotdogs and cocktails HELL YES YES YES!! Anything involving the chili is also highly recommended. And although I didn't really go into detail about it, chicken tenders were good, too (there were more in there than what the photo shows) - crispy and well-seasoned, and more than what I was expecting.

First thing to mention, kudos for their longevity. They are coming up on their first decade next summer. The cafe decor also held up pretty well, including the large glass fixture from the ceiling. Seattle Sunshine Coffee also outlived Ventoux that I had mentioned in my prior post. The barista and I compared my 2016 stamp card to the current design, just had a few slight different nuances. This indie cafe had folks onsite, but not packed. There was still room available whether seated along the sidewalk, main seating area, or the upstairs mezzanine. Some convos to be had, but most of the cafe clientele were on their laptops or reading. Pastry case was well stocked with the wholesale variety from Macrina, plus the usual bevs and cafe fare. I enjoyed my near two hour onsite visit. The only thing I wished is that I had brought a hoodie. The AC was jacked up. and of course, I had savored an iced mocha. Hopefully my next cafe detour won't take nine years though between visits.
