    Seattle dog

Lunch review: This is the food service attached to the Octopus Bar. We had the tots with nacho cheese and two hot dogs. Wow so good, that homemade cheese sauce was excellent! Spicy but not in a hurt you later sort of way. I had the plain dog on a gf bun with ketchup and the hubs had a Seattle dog. Both were awesome, great grilled flavor. Now onto the Octopus Bar, this place is massive but at 2 on a Monday there were only a few people. The waitstaff were excellent, so nice. I really loved it here and will be back. Also loved the $11 beer/shot combo. Great value in Seattle.

I straight up goggled Tuna Melt Near Me and this place popped up in the list. The description of tuna, capers, mayo, celery and onion on Macrina bread with cheddar and tomato = Yum. Right now (during Covid) the place is a walk-up window, but I'd love to sit in the Octopus Bar once it's open. It looked like a theme park. The sandwich was good and that crust will really make you use your teeth when ripping off a bite. The tots were well cooked and the spicy aioli was nice too. I liked the little carry box and the newspaper print tissue paper liner. They also included a lil' treat of a dum dum and under-the-sea gummies. Be forewarned, just like it's namesake - the food is salty!

When The Octopus Bar closed last winter, I was so bummed and couldn't wait to see what was to come next. Just down the street (literally 1/2 block) The Octopus will soon reopen, but their food window The Salty Shack is ready for customers. Sandwiches, hot dogs, sailor themed drinks all bless this menu with a kind, masked worker behind the counter. I got the Chicago dog with crisp onion, pickle, sliced tomato and red peppers. Delicious with a good spicy kick. Washed it down with a takeout White Claw for a perfect evening treat! Excited to try all the things on the menu and eventually inside The Octopus Bar this winter!!

I haven't been this excited to see a Seattle dog on a menu since 2019 (pre-covid when they were on every corner)! Sooooo happy Octopus Bar opened this quick pit stop, making us all feel one step closer to going to back to bars and restaurants care free!

I ordered a Veggie Hot Dog and discovered at home that it's only bread + sausage. I believe they do have other options on their menu that aren't quite as minimalistic. Next time, I'll be more precise with my order, but I wish someone had asked. Apart from that, the sausage surprised me with great texture and great flavor! I find decent vegan sausage to be quite rare so I'll be back for sure.

My daughter ordered a Shark Bait Wrap for me. I was excited to try their "Super Secret House Made Tuna Mix". I feel bad she had to spend $14 for a tasteless and dry wrap! I guess the super-secret mix it's just a dry tuna from a can. Also, there was no cheese...disappointed

Really pleased with this spot! Saw it while waiting for TNT across the street and had to come back another day to try it out. The menu is easy to read and had a lot of good options for sandwiches. The staff were friendly and our food came out fairly quick. The presentation was really nice with each meal in its own individual carry out box. They even threw in a goodie bag for each of us with some candy and a sticker! I got the Lady Luck sandwich and tater tots and was really happy with my choice. The tots were nice and crispy and the sandwich was fresh and light, but still filling. Can't wait to go back and try out a hot dog!

We ordered an abundant spread, and every dish impressed. The clear crowd favorite was the Singapore black pepper prawns - fragrant, perfectly spiced, and completely addictive. That black pepper sauce was hands down the star of the meal: rich, peppery, and deeply flavorful. It was my favorite and could easily be eaten on everything. The Mala curry crab and XO crab were both outstanding; layered with complex, indulgent flavors. The Thai green chili clams and saus mentega clams were vibrant and comforting, while the crab fried rice had generous morsels of crab folded throughout the dish. We also really enjoyed the Indonesian chicken wings, which were crispy and flavorful, and the stir-fried vegetables, which added a fresh, well-balanced contrast to the seafood-heavy menu. Everything traveled well, was thoughtfully prepared, and made for an unforgettable catered meal. If you're considering catering from Marimakan Crabhouse, I can't recommend it highly enough. Get the black pepper sauce! Amazing from start to finish, and Chef V or Rachel is lovely to work with.

The bagel itself was smaller than a typical bagel and had some capers and a small amount of cooked (not smoked) mashed up salmon in the center school lunch cafeteria style. The bagel was chewy but lacked any crispiness on the outside. Basic, not generous, amount of cream cheese. The salmon had barely detectable flavor if any, while most of the flavor came from the capers. Overall, I felt a bit like I had been scammed. The chocolate chip cookie was actually pretty good. Not great, but good enough. Note about the service: I walked up to the counter to order and asked if they would bring it out--the person i ordered from said yes--so I tipped accordingly. I took a seat in the main seating area on the patio and poured myself a glass of water from the self service station. After around 20 minutes of waiting and looking inside to see if anyone was coming out i walked in and asked one of the people preparing bagels if someone was going to bring my order out. He looked confused, pointing to a row of bags on the counter, one of which was my order. Now, I tip generously for service, but more often than not i don't tip when I order and pick up my own food at a counter. Again, I felt a bit scammed. There are much better bagel options in Seattle, and certainly ones that don't ask $16 for such an unremarkable one that I had.

The staff were super kind and friendly! I thought it would be a long line and sure enough, we beat the long lines! They did their pop-up at 1pm and surprised there was no line around 12:40pm so we were 4th/5th people in line. Whew! The line did grow behind us so it is popular! They had 4 flavors: - lavender lemon curd - taro mochi - pistachio sesame - passionfruit mango Out of all the flavors, the passionfruit mango was my fave! They weren't super sweet either and the texture from the taro mochi and pistachio sesame was unique! It wasn't just cream based like most donut/brioche places. They seem to rotate their flavors a lot on the season and such so it's not always the same flavors. Their Thai milk tea with sea salt cream was also a highlight! Not too sweet at all and the sea salt cream was perfect! I know they reside in Yakima now but it's always fun to see when they're back in Seattle! Located at the main Fisherman's Terminal building, this restaurant is sunny and open, with larger windows along the walls, letting natural light through to brighten the area. It's a counter service establishment, so ordering is at the front counter. We encountered a short line on our visit but it moved quickly. I think the kitchen was a little backlogged since our food took almost half an hour to arrive. Koji Fried Chicken Sammie ($15) - The menu lists this as $16 but they only charged $15. The fried chicken is seasoned and lightly breaded, resulting in a more delicate type of crisp. It's very flavorful and salted perfectly, creating a bite that's fragrant and somewhat tangy, filled with vinegar and lemongrass essence. It's a rather small piece of chicken thigh, cooked decently, so while not dripping with juices, isn't dried out or tough. Above the fried chicken is a bunch of crunchy shredded cabbage and underneath is a bed of softened red onions mixed with a creamy sauce, which is apparently ranch, but I couldn't identify it as such. Everything is on what seems to be a commercial soft bun. Very wan, not toasted at all. The chicken is much smaller than the bun and much thinner to boot. I'd say the taste profile is excellent, but the value isn't really there; it's a very light sandwich and I felt like I could have eaten two in a sitting. (4/5) Mayu Mac Salad ($6) - They give a really small scoop of mac salad for $6. It's really good though. The pasta is nice and toothsome with still a bit of a bite, and is then mixed with a thick mayo base. It's not runny at all as with many other mac salads. The pasta has plenty of ridges built into the special macaroni for extra texture. There's shaved carrot and cabbage and plenty of shallot for crunch, all mixed into a base that's extremely savory with a bit of saltiness and fragrance that reminds me of Lao Gan Ma chili crisp. If only this weren't so expensive! (5/5) Chili Crisp Noodle ($17) - This is essentially a version of sesame noodles with chili crisp added on top. Unlike the fried chicken sandwich, this dish looks small but is so creamy and rich that it sits very heavily in the stomach. The sauce is really thick peanut butter mixed with vinegar, as is standard, giving a tangy and nutty note. It has almost a bit of a burnt taste for some reason. It's really thick and viscous and it coats the entire mouth in a film while eating. The noodles are nice and chewy. The chili crisp itself isn't too overtly spicy, instead it's decently fragrant, is very peanut-forward, and has the numbing mala sensation from sichuan peppercorns. (4/5) Overall Pidgin Cooperative serves some pretty good food. I think portion sizes are a little small for the price and even with the three items we ordered, we still left a little peckish. Bathrooms - Larger ones with multiple stalls, one for mushrooms, one for oysters.

This most recent time we noticed that the menu had been split into two and there are only a few items on the main menu, with most standout dishes being on the rotating menu. For four people, we ordered: Gyofun fries: came out cold Smash burger: good, would absolutely get again and recommend Beef short rib: doesn't come with rice which is disappointing for the cost and it being a main. Sauce flavor is punchy and delicious, acid forward! side rice: terrible. Undercooked or perhaps not washed well before cooking Kimchi: very fermented if you like that style Sesame chili crisp noodle: noodles were overcooked and became one giant blob with the sauce. We ordered a fried egg on top and that was cooked perfectly. Overall the flavor is really flat and it was mediocre at best. Tuna kinilaw: tuna didn't seem the best quality. Quality of sauce and accompanying herbs and orange was great, very fresh. If this was the only time we had been here I'd be happy to give it another go but between the other three times we've been here we've had: Salmon kinilaw: much smoother and more delicious than the tuna. The portion size was also bigger than the tuna Fish and chips: great portion crispy fried and delicious Mac salad: good Animal ramen: the noodles were so undercooked you could actually see the fire still through the noodles. The hot broth wasn't hot enough to keep cooking the noodles so it was just completely a bowl of undercooked noodles. Disappointing Wok fried rice cakes: good!! Today the food came out in a decent time but the time we got the fish and chips/ramen we waited over 30 minutes for our food and were pretty disappointed given the restaurant was not super packed. Today towards the end of our stay it was absolutely a packed house but the food was coming out in a very reasonable time and service was good. It's very confusing that it's so inconsistent across my four visits but we have decided to not give it another go because we can't tell if we're going to get a good day or a bad day. Hope this changes because the good days are SO GOOD.
