We have never once had a good experience at this Ford location. We have continued to go there due to convenience of location but we will not be back. This last experience was the last straw for us. We took our truck in due to a recall, we also asked they complete the 100k service. When we were notified the truck was ready, we asked what the balance was. The person who called us would not give us this information over the phone. Michael & Greg were who we dealt with. The balance was $2,200. They did work we did NOT ask for OR approve. HOW IS THAT OK? Recently took my vehicle for repair service for an oil pan leak. After it being there a few hours, the technician determined it would be a couple days to fix so provided me with a loan car (which is why I gave it 2 stars) and very much appreciated that. However, 5 days later, I hadn't heard anything - called, no response. Day 6 I called and was told they would check into it and see if they could move it forward (seems other cars waiting on parts were taking up the stalls). Day 7 I called again and was told it would be atleast another 2 weeks before they could get to it due to the technician being gone now. I pulled my car from their shop and took it to another dealership the next day - they repaired the leak in less than 45 minutes. My business is now with them. read more

They didn't start the oil change until 4:30pm. The whole process took 90 minutes for a simple oil change. When I expressed concern about how long it was taking, all I got was excuses. Took my husbands truck to Shawnee Mission service department. We didn't hear from them all day (7am appointment) so we called left a message and got a call back one hour before they closed stating the repairs would be $1,700. Told them we'd call back so we could discuss the issue amongst ourselves. We determined the cost was much higher than anticipated. We called back to let them know we would need to pickup the vehicle, no answer. We go in to speak with them and they let us know the vehicle is not ready to be picked up because the truck was "taken apart" in the back "just in case you wanted to proceed with repairs" yet they also told us they wouldn't be able to get to repairs for a week. We ended up getting the car the next day and taking it elsewhere. It was a 200$ repair. Not happy at all. Feel like we were lied to. Communication there sucks. read more

Took my car in because I had a maintenance package; each time I took it in there was a fault with my car: - Alignment - Tires - Brake pads - Battery Took my car to another garage and they told me "don't know who told you that, but they blowing smoke up your behind" I have paperwork to prove this as well. Insanely bad customer service! Called to set up 2 recalls and a couple of oil changes I had for two of my family's cars, during the process of setting the appt up they even put me on hold for about 4 minutes to verify with the parts department that they had the parts for both of the recalls, came back and said everything was all set. Set the appt up for two days later first thing in the morning and would drop the cars off the evening before. Literally set up the appts for 7:00am and 7:15 am for that day. The night before we dropped the cars off at 5:00 and the cars were brought in right away and the rep did all the paperwork and he even verified the parts were in stock for the recall. Did the obligatory upsell of the 30k and 60k tune ups for both of the cars. (just fyi that was over $600for the 30k and $1200 for the 60k.) Jump to day of the appt finally get a call at 10:30 saying they were just now getting to the first car. It suddenly need over $1000 of brake and axle work(brakes were just replaced about 6 weeks ago so seemed a little odd). I said no just do the recall and the oil change I asked for. I then asked the status of my other car and he said they hadn't had a chance to look at it yet (even though the appt was for 7:15 in the morning and it was now 10:30) I asked him about this and he said they handle the waiting customers first and an appt time is just a time the customer gets to speak to a rep(?!?). I asked for a call back to let me know how long to expect to wait. To his credit he texted back in within 5 minutes saying my 2nd car was being looked at right then. Jump an hour later so it is now 11:30 the guy calls me back and says they don't have the part for the recall on my 2nd car and it would be a couple of days to get it. I advised him that I was upset at this point as two different people had already verified the parts were in, he just went silent on the phone. After about a minute of dead silence, he said "uh, sorry?" like it was a question for me! I've had two instances within a few months where work was to be done and it was not done right. So, I had to take more days out of my schedule to accommodate the service mistakes. Also, I can never seem to get anyone to answer the phone in service when I call. I bought a truck there and about one week later (1200 miles on truck) the motor blew. They replaced it but the GM of the dealership never called to check on me or say sorry etc. I think it took like 30+ days to replace motor. I want to write something positive but each of my dealings with them have been bad. I could not in good conscience recommend this dealer. It's bad. Simply bad in my opinion. read more

There are not words sufficient to cover the incompetence of the staff of this Ford dealership in the handling of my vehicle and the return of the vehicle to me. I was charged $1132 instead of the $300 deductible for a warranty on engine as allowed in paperwork. The car was returned filthy, with leather seats ruined due to coffee spills in car and only 9 miles left to empty on tank as well as tires all at 36 to 38 lbs of pressure as well as the battery in key fob clearly stated almost dead on dashboard. While no one would explain all the extra charges to my vehicle above 300 dollar deductible, why not put a battery's in fob and gas in tank and tack onto bill you have already tripled without permission by adding these necessary items. My tires were all under where they should be in tire pressure and car was filthy as well as drives like a tank instead of an SUV. The car was held from February until June to replace an engine that was under warranty. I provided the dealership the information on warranty and was told I needed copies of all oil changes etc which I then spent time looking for records. I was then told my Shawnee Mission Ford there was no warranty tied to vIN number and I called myself and it took me 5 minutes to prove I had a warranty and that the car was covered. It is unfortunate that I am here visiting Saint Luke's for follow up to a major surgery, chemotherapy and a host of other issues. This put me into the bed for over 6 weeks due to stress alone. I tried to get cooperation from the dealership and got none. The lack of compassion, lack of ability to complete even the simplest of tasks and the lack of professionalism has been documented via 3rd parties and recorded phone conversations. This is definitely a BBB matter as well as a direct Ford complaint. For those of you who wish to overpay and be treated with no respect, this is the dealership for you. If you expect an accurate accounting and professional staff, search elsewhere. read more

I called to get my 2014 Ford fusion checked out I got hooked up with the guy name Anthony Robinson as I was explaining my situation with my car. The first thing he said was to throw the whole car away and come in and get another one all that was fine if I was able to get approved, we started going through the application and he started saying things like I'm gonna put you down as lead to make your application sound better. I informed him that it's just me and my child that live in our household and he put down that I do not pay rent that I live with a family friend, he also told me that if I showed up that same day, I could drive the car off the lot which I never took the car off the lot because then he claimed I needed to have insurance. The whole place is just a scam. Do not go there. They will help you lie on the application to get you approved, then when you come out of pocket on some money, they will not help you out. I asked to get out of the contract even though I already traded my car and put 500 down and they flat out said no I have to come get the car but I don't see why I can't get out of itbecause they have not lost no value on their car. DO NOT BUY A CAR AT SHAWNEE MISSION FORD! I was looking for a new car and SM Ford had the one I wanted on order, they offered me a good trade value for my car, so I put a deposit down on the new car. I confirmed the pricing for the new car and trade value with Jeremy (sales manager). When I got to the dealership to pick up my car there was $3840 in "extra" charges for what the salesmen (Chris and tall Chip) said were standard on all the new cars they sell, even though at other dealerships they are optional. I told them I did not want the "extra" which included door guards and re-install seat protectant. I was told I had to pay for these extras as they were put on all cars at this dealership and they were already on the car. Come to find out the door guards, which cost $2175, were not on my car and no one told me this. I have a feeling they were never going to tell me that these were not installed, even though they told me I had to pay for them. I asked for my money back, which of course they say is not possible. During this whole process they have been difficult to get a hold of as voicemails are not set up, full, or they just don't respond to messages. I brought my F150 here to be serviced in October of 2022. I was told the part was on backorder but they would periodically check in with me and let me know when they got the part in or give me an update on when they thought they might get it in. I never received a call, had to call and leave several messages that went unanswered, and finally walk in to speak to someone in person to get any update between October 2022 and March 2023. They told me in March that the part was still on backorder and had a stop order on it because the parts Ford was shipping out were still faulty. The part being on backorder is of no fault of Shawnee Mission Ford, but their poor customer service/communication is. I had gotten a company vehicle so I didn't need the F150, so with no delivery date on the part, I asked if Shawnee Mission Ford wanted to buy my truck. I was put into contact with a salesman, Jim Beadle. He took my information and called me later and offered me $20k for the truck. I accepted and told him I would be in the next day to fill out the paperwork. He immediately called me back to tell me that they could offer more if I were to trade it in and buy another vehicle. I told him I would think about it. I came in the next day, provided all of the information and filled out all of the paperwork and Jim then goes to get approval to write the check. He comes back and tells me they can only offer me $19k for the truck because they thought I was trading in and buying a vehicle. I told him I was offered $20K and agreed to $20k. He then went to notify the manager (Sonny Gibson) and he came in to tell me the same story about thinking I was trading in which completely contradicts the second call I got from Jim telling me they could offer me more than $20k if I traded in. Their service department customer service could be better, but they 1 star rating is earned for lying to me over the phone, lying to my face, and wasting my time by having me fill out the paperwork based on a sale price of $20k only to pull the rug out from under me at the end. read more

I have been a customer of Shawnee Mission Ford for almost 7 years. I have generally had pretty good experiences working with the sales staff and service department, until today. I went in for brake service and presented a coupon for $179.95. After they looked at my car, the technician said my brake lines needed to be replaced too and quoted me $78 for each side. I agreed to have the brake lines replaced. My final bill came to $931. I protested the amount and the technician said that my coupon didn't apply because they replaced the rotors instead of machining them. The cash register was the first time I ever heard that they did that. I pointed out that rotors don't cost that much and the technician rudely said that if I wanted cheap parts I should go down to Napa. I stared at the bill in disbelief. The technician said that they would give me 10% off for my trouble and proceeded to take $45 off (if you know how to do math, that is only 5%). I was so pissed, I could hardly see straight. I was late for another appointment, so I reluctantly paid the bill and left. A couple hours later, I had a chance to look at the bill and noticed they added $310 in labor for the brake lines that they never discussed with me. I called to talk to the manager about it and told her what happened. She spoke with the technician and he lied to her by saying he told me about it. I was under the impression that the $78 they quoted me was parts AND labor because it was the only number they shared with me prior to doing the work. Apparently, the technician was incompetent, lazy, or dishonest because we never discussed any number beyond $78 per brake line. I asked if there was anything she could do and she said that she would provide a $100 credit to my next visit. I said that wasn't very helpful and that they would be losing me as a customer. She was completely unconcerned about losing a 7 year loyal customer. I went in later to talk in person about it because I felt completely ripped off for paying $931 for something I had only agreed to pay $336 plus tax for prior to the work being done. I was hoping that if I could discuss it with them they would meet me in the middle. I was wrong. The technician pulled out a piece of paper I had never seen and told the manager that we discussed it. I said that we never discussed it and wanted to talk with her boss about it. The technician apologized that "my memory failed me". At that point, the boss came in the room and the manager (Keesha) proceeded to forward on the lie that I knew about the costs ahead of time and mocked me about some of the things I said on the phone with her earlier. Keesha's boss then belittled me for "not understanding". They said if I would've only not paid the bill, they could've "worked with me" on the costs. On what planet does making a payment have ANY bearing on what money is ACTUALLY due???? If its wrong, it's wrong. I know they could've helped me at this point if they wanted to, but they had my money so they were content in completely ripping me off. I have never been so humiliated in my life. Between the humiliation and the fact that I got hosed by several hundred dollars, I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT in Shawnee Mission Ford again. I mentioned that I would take my business to Olathe Ford and the manager couldn't have cared less. I would highly recommend NEVER doing business with Shawnee Mission Ford. read more

Two emotions: 1st one, very satisfied with the service i've received the past three visits. Had the 'Works' maintenance which is very reasonably priced and they performed the service in a timely manner. Brett is a very focused, customer service oriented service agent. I had brought a tire in which had a slow leak due to a sidewall cut. Purchased the triple tire protection when i bought the car and it paid off. New tire and all service labor with zero cost. 2nd: Not at all happy with the cost of replacing a turn-signal bulb. For any minor issues in the future, will not let the dealer fix it. Don't go here. I've bought a lot of cars in my life and this place by far had the sleaziest business practices. They will coerce, intimidate, and leverage you into bad sales, that are most times illegal. Almost every staff member seems like they got their sales practices from "Time Share Selling 101". We were told the dealership "would not allow us" to purchase our new vehicle if we did not purchase the Ford Extended Warranty (read up extended warranties, they are super scammy and a waste of money). This was on a Ford Bronco we had ordered 2.5 years prior, price confirmed, and done all the paperwork for. When I pushed back and insisted it was illegal for them to threaten not selling me my car if I didn't purchase the extended warranty, Marlena Morgan told us the interest rate on our loan would triple to nearly 11% if we didn't get the warranty. She showed us two pieces of paper showing these "numbers" and told us we could have the significantly lower interest rate if we just got the warranty. We were exhausted after 6 hours of them stringing us along and making us wait (a textbook example of a sleazy sales-method to exhaust customers into making bad decisions), and opted for the lower rate with extended warranty. We later got the name of the credit union and called them, asking if they really did change our interest rate based on the extended warranty. The Credit Union blatantly said they do not do that and that it is a common illegal practice from car dealers. Google it, it's called "coercive tied selling" and is a very common manipulation amongst car dealerships. It is illegal. We later called the dealership with hopes to tell the manager, Jeremy, about what had happened -- thinking he would care about some of the business practices occurring at his branch. He was extremely abrasive, rude, and denied everything -- the lack of neutral emotional and professionalism showed me he is aware of these practices. The intimidation these folks go to at Shawnee Mission Ford to pull one over on you are unlike any other. Ford needs to shut them down. They treat people like scum. I'm so disappointed they ruined the purchase experience of my dream car I waited so long for. PS: If you get tricked into getting the extended warranty leverage with a lower interest rate loan you can ask the dealership a few weeks after you have the car that you want a refund of your warranty and they are obligated to refund it, which will take it off your loan without impacting your rate. HOWEVER, I have been waiting nearly 2 months for the Shawnee Mission Ford finance department to send the refund to my credit union. I've called and emailed them and they will not respond. Could not believe I was charged over $8000 for an engine swap to not only have to return the next day for incomplete service but to have it break down 2 1/2 weeks later and find that I still have a broken oil fill up valve cover on my supposed rebuilt engine. To top that off all three catalytic converters were clogged which costs $750 and had to do a tune-up (plugs,wires, ignition coil,air filter,oil change) with replacing the alternator and battery also costing $750. But that didn't get it back on the road until the mass air flow sensor and idle air control valve $600 were replaced as well. read more

This is the most unethical dealership I have ever ever dealt with. We went in to take advantage of their "will pay you $4000 above the trade in value of your car". Our cars' trade in value on KBB is just North of $16K. So, according to their deal, they should have given us $20K in trade in value. Instead, they offered us 12K all in for our trade AND that the car we were buying (with a KBB value of just barely over $6K) they would sell to us for $11,987.00. WAIT... WHAT?? When I politely ask them to pull up the KBB on both cars, they did. And while they agreed to pay S the 20K for our car, they still wanted to charge us 12K for the one we were buying even though it was $6000 above KBB. They then asked us to come back on Monday to complete all the paperwork , citing that the car needed to be cleaned. That was literally the only truth they told. So fast forward to today. Guess who called to say they change their mind and planned to sell that car to an auction? SERIOUSLY THE MOST UNETHICAL DEALERSHIP I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED!!! I URGE ANYONE READING THIS TO SHARE. I drive a Ford and have my vehicle service work done at a Ford dealer. Shawnee Mission Ford has never impressed me but they are close to where I live. I made a reservation 5 days in advance for a typical oil change and when I got there I was informed of a 2+ hour wait for oil changes. No explanation or apology was given. I took off work early for this appointment and lost that time. Because Shawnee Mission Ford is unable to manage reservations, I will drive a few extra miles to better preforming dealers like Olathe Ford, Victory Ford or Bob Allen Ford. read more

Traded in my Ford Fusion over a month ago, which had 4 lease payments remaining. Purchased a new Ford Ecosport, with agreement that they would pay off the balance of the Fusion. Guess what? About a week ago, when my father was literally on his death bed, I start getting calls from Ford Credit about my OVERDUE FORD FUSION PAYMENT. Shawnee Mission Ford NEVER SENT THE PAYOFF TO FORD. Multiple calls to the dealership have resulted in multiple "stories", excuses, and explanations as to how this happened. Just moved to Kansas City from Ohio, where I have been a customer of Ricard Ford in Columbus for years. Shawnee Mission is a big FAIL in comparison. Ford has lost a (once) loyal customer. Ford Credit has been told of the situation by me and supposedly by the dealership, and refuses to place a hold on the account and will proceed with reporting this as a late payment to the credit agencies. I was told by SMF's finance manager, Jake, that they would make the payment before 30 days so this didn't happen. Today is day 30. Did Jake follow through and make sure this mistake on their end didn't affect my credit rating? No. He did not. Buyer beware! This place is your everyday run of the mill dealership. Here are the pros and cons Pros: Everyone has seems pleasant that I have worked with. Sales people, service workers, and management. They offer coffee and a nice waiting area when you are getting thing serviced. Cons: Don't bother making an "appointment" and waiting for you car. Even a regular oil change will take anywhere from 2-4 hours with an appointment! Make sure you know what all has been done to your car before. I have brought my car in 4 times and every time I come in they say something about the RECALLS being fixed. I fixed them during my first visit and I have to remind them it has already been done even though it is all in their notes. The estimated time of completion is no where near what they say. A service I had asked about was said to only take 2 hours. It has now been 5 hours. All in all, the customer service is great but get prepared to repeat yourself and have a rather long wait. read more

I just purchased a 2020 Edge and paid cash with a check. Dealer, Everett Goudeau, was supposed to hold the check for 1 week for a deposit to credit the bank account. Two days later the check was deposited which overdrew the account. Everett was contacted on both cell phone and email and 1 week later he still has not responded. The bank worked with me to to get the account credited and avoid any overdrafts but the Ford dealership never responded to any form of contact read more
