I had to take my car in today for service due to a check engine light. I was bothered by the disruption to my normal routine, but was confident that my protection plan would cover most of the service being done. Well, much to everyone's surprise, Car Shield / American Auto Shield, denied the claim based off of a very ambiguous contract. So now I have a very high, unexpected expense that I have to deal with in an already extremely stressful time, but there was one thing that really made a difference in my attitude about this whole issue, and that is, Amy Lopez, the service advisor that has been overseeing this service visit. She, despite all of the issues that have arose from the warranty company, has been extremely nice, helpful, acknowledging my frustration in a way that validated she could relate and understand my position. Amy, has been great about keeping in contact with me the entire time, and has even been so kind to help me work though some this mess by letting me take some time to figure out how to handle this with the warranty company. She is a top notch service advisor and needs all the recognition a star employee like, Amy, can do to make a difference in the way someone else responds to unexpected bad news. She did a great job trying to work with the warranty company, and appreciate her help through this time. She definitely needs a raise and praise for helping make a negative experience a positive in some ways. If you need a service, I highly recommend you make your appointments with Amy! Shawnee Mission Ford does a great job in keeping my Escape in tip top running shape. They get my vehicle in when I need to, and I've never experienced any lengthy delays with the estimated time it will take for it to be ready. I drop it off and come back for it same day...easy. The Works for $50.36, including tax, is a good deal. Oil change, tire rotation, full vehicle inspection, and more. It leaves me with no worries or concerns about my vehicle when I'm out on the road. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. When the time comes, I think I'll be looking for that next vehicle here. They seem to have a good selection of vehicles, and I value Andrew's opinion and Yelp review. Plan for an updated review when its time to trade in the Escape about a year or so from now. read more

Brought my vehicle in for scheduled service and was extremely disappointed that not even half the staff were wearing masks during this pandemic. It didn't appear to be mandatory for employees or customers. I felt very uncomfortable the entire time I was in the waiting area. With a government mask mandate, it sure seems like the company would at least be making the masks required for customer-facing associates and encouraging masks for all customers who are in the waiting area. I bought my car here in 2014, and it came with 9 free oil changes. As a result, I've been coming here ever since. In the past, I'm done in an hour or so. This time I made an appointment, and it took over two hours. For an oil change and inspection. After an hour and 45 minutes, I finally went to see what the hold up was. I was told they would "investigate". My free oil changes "expire" in February, and I will HAPPILY find somewhere else to take my business, because this is absurd. 15 minutes later, my car is magically done. Should've asked sooner. Unsure if Shawnee Mission Service department treats just female customers poorly - or all customers. I am a FORMER fan of Shawnee Mission Ford having purchased a vehicle, had frequent services performed and several body shop visits (teenagers!). A few weeks my wife asked to have the service dept check her steering while doing an oil change - SMF missed doing this. She then had to make another appointment to ensure car's steering was safe. On 12/14/21 she learned it was a rack and pinion replacement issue. Should have been simple to diagnose . Was charged $165 plus $34 "shop supplies" for $218.00 for diagnostics. Asked to apply this to another service - but SMF said no. Really disappointed at diagnostics fee, high estimate to fix and overall poor service. Estimate was double that of other estimates I received since then. When we picked up car, I noticed the rear wiper was not put back on. I also noticed a headlight was out - missed on any inspection they did. Car was in much worse shape after the visit to SMF. We are now in market to purchase a new vehicle (and we informed the service rep of this) but we will certainly NOT use Shawnee Mission Ford. REALLY disappointed with customer service, price and overall experience at SMH. Normally, I give 4 and 5 stars. SMH definitely provides poor service and is 1 star at best. Had an appt to have my ABS system looked at, at 8 am. By the close of business I hadn't heard a word from them. That's 10 hours. I went to look at a specific vehicle, after a test drive and some haggling we come to an agreement. That's when they asked me to fill out a credit application. I said I already had the money. AFTER we made an agreement they retracted and said they'd only do it if I financed through them or they were going to jack up the price. These people are lying con men with no integrity and will milk you for everything. I now have a new vehicle and they STILL have the one they tried to rail me on. HA! Horrible service! Scheduled an engine issue for a Saturday telling them what the chheck engine code was reading and not wanting to drive it to cause more damage. They call me at 1pm on that sat to tell me they don't have diesel techs working on Saturdays as well as they have no body shop guys working that were to address another factory issue. After making arrangements to drop off on a Friday night, get the call on Sat at 1pm to tell me this. Should I not have got the call iedieately in the am as I was first in line at 7am? They ask me to leave it for the following week and I tell them I cant as I work out of the truck and ask for a loaner vehicle and he say no, we don't have an y loaners? What kind of business is this? My entire experience has been negative from scheduling to service. Major improvements needed at this dealership as seen in all of the reviews. read more

My car was in the collision shop for an entire month. A lot of the time, my calls were ignored. They would give me a date of when I could pick it up, but it ended up being another 2 weeks. They left trash and pieces in my car. It smelled like cigarettes. My car was at 30 miles left until E, and when it was returned at 0! (Which I don't understand considering it was body work. It doesn't take 30 miles to move it in and out of the garage.) They didn't even warn me, so I barely rolled into a gas station. Then to top it off, I get ready to leave this morning and my ice scraper is no longer in my car! It wasn't a cheap one. I recently took my vehicle here for a minor issue, and I had no problems with the service. They fixed the issue and I thought everything was great. Unfortunately, there's no way I'll be able to return to Shawnee Mission Ford due to the constant harassment I have received since my visit. To date, I have received three phone calls, one voicemail, a text message, and two emails asking me to fill out a survey rating my experience. I'm sure this isn't the end of their "outreach," either. I don't know how the owners can possibly think this is good customer service? If I had issues, I would have brought them up when I paid for the services. It's unfair to continually pester paying customers in this manner. If this unwanted contact continues, I'll be forced to file a formal complaint. SM Ford always takes good care of my SUV and car. Today they are fixing the gas inlet on my SUV that is stuck closed preventing me from gassing up. Ricky is my tech and he has always been super nice. He was ready when I arrived 10 mins early for my appointment and they did the work quickly and expertly. He also cut the price for me from $300 down to $200. I went to Shawnee Mission Ford in early May. I purchased a vehicle from them for 24,000 and was shown a clean carfax at time of purchase. I About a month later I took the car to Olathe Subaru to see about a trade in. They told me they wouldn't even have sold that car to me for half of what I paid...they offered me 11,000. When I inquired as to why, they said look at the car fax. I looked at the carfax and they showed me that an accident was reported to car fax just 1 day after I purchased the car. The car fax shows the accident was reported in 2015. Ford stated they would not do us any favors or fix the issue. Ford also stated the reporting is always delayed on carfax. Horrible. Don't ever take your car there expecting it to be fixed. I told them there was an issue with the computer and they noticed the problem, got the specialist there to look at it, the one time that he tried it, the issue didn't happen, so they called me and told me they can't fix it because it didn't malfunction for the guy on the first try, and then told us to pick it up and tried to charge me $100 when I have a full warranty. So I bought this beautiful 2016 Ford Explorer for my fiancée and the kids and everything was fine happy buyer at first, then about a month later I observed there was a popping noise whenever I would back up and do turns. So right after that I made an appointment and got it checked out because I was under the miles warranty they gave ,but they just did a quick drive and didn't give it a diagnostic like they were suppose too and left at that and said it was probably due to the turbo. Which I have other pals with turbo and none of their cars sound anyway like I described. So recently the cracking noise got worse took it in last week, didn't ever get a call back to find out what's going on with my vehicle had too call and call about what was going on until I finally got to an answer and told me I had to pay out of pocket 800$ for something I completely told them about when I had the warranty available and noticed it. I have been calling about it and keep giving me the run around and still have my vehicle in the service area haven't done a thing to it. My best guess is be-careful and have them really inspect the vehicle you are buying because I would hate for something to happen to my fellow people just wanting a better life like it's happening to me read more

A disappointing experience today at Shawnee Mission Ford Service Department. Arrive 10 minutes early for my scheduled oil change and routine check on my daughter's car while she was home visiting from college. Upon arrival the service rep confirmed my appointment at 0830 and said it would be about 45 minutes to an hour and showed me to the waiting area. 90 minutes later no response or update so I proceeded to inquire on the delay. Between the lack of communication between the billing clerk and the service rep it was determined that they had not even started on my car? This was even more alarming as I asked the service rep about the tire senor going off and he said it was all good to go but in reality was never checked! How can this be validated if you have not even started service on the car?WTF! Service rep apologized and said they were short staff? I reminded him about my appointment but apparently that's does not matter as 30 cars were checked in and being worked on in the order they arrived. We all surely have had similar experiences but to lie about an alarm issue with the car is not good business and does not reassure a father that his daughter's car is safe to drive. It is time to find another dealership who puts customer service and integrity above $$$$$. read more

Beware of this dealership! They recently sent out a mailer to intentionally deceive people into believing they won a prize. The mailer lists a claim number to call prior to visiting the dealership and they confirm that you won ($750 cash) and you must visit the dealership to claim your prize. When I got there, I encountered 2 SMF employees that were rude and short with me. There were several of us discussing this scam and everyone was upset that it was a complete waste of time. It's scams like this that continue to give dealerships bad names. I was planning on test driving the Raptor that was on the lot but another dealership will get my business. Do yourselves a favor...treat your customers right and they'll be repeat customers. Gaining business through deception is unethical and unfair for the consumer. After having my business van serviced, I noticed the two new lights were on. The oil can and wrench light. I called Shawnee Mission Ford to see if I could get my van back in to make sure there was nothing wrong like some lid loose and spewing oil all over my engine, or perhaps an oversight of not resetting the buttons. I scheduled an appointment for first thing in the morning to bring it back (which was an inconvenience to begin with). I ended up having to leave the van all day. At the end of the day I called to see if it was ready and was told they never got to it. Why make an appointment for 7:45 a.m. and not even have your vehicle looked at all day. So because I needed my van for work, I had to make another appointment, which I did. When we dropped the van of we specifically asked if it would be done that day and they said they "couldn't promise" it would be. This is a work van, a vehicle I depend on to do my job. The fact that they allow you to make an appointment for a specific day and time and not even bother to get to it is beyond the poorest customer service ever. Why bother? Do they not think I have better things to do. The bottom line is if there is a problem because of these lights being on after my van was serviced, Shawnee Mission Ford will be responsible for any and all damage or replacement of this vehicle. I requested a manager call me to discuss this and I never heard back from them. When you're there to buy a vehicle, they are all over you. When you need to service your vehicle, they just don't care. I took my car in for service and when I got a it back the arm rest and steering wheel was dirty. I called to let them know and they returned my call immediately and were so apologetic. Over all I love them for service and so does my husband. They had a little hiccup and made it good. This should be called "Nightmares Cove in Mission". I've been here before (yes, that's my own fault, I'm an idiot) and there's never been an enjoyable experience, but I always gave them the benefit of the doubt (again, my own fault). But this time it went way too far. Came to service my Ford Fusion for what they call "The Works", which is simply an oil change and multi port inspection. I patiently waited for TWO hours (emphasis on the TWO) before inquiring about the status of my car (I know, shouldn't have waited that long, but hey! ) only to find out that they didn't even know where the hell my car was! Finally they found it parked in the back of their lot and brought it in for service. I was livid. All I got was (and I quote) -"All I can say is I'm sorry, we'll get you out as soon as I can"-. No empathy, no real concern, simply a "I don't care about how you feel, it is what it is". Let me tell you that if for some life or death reason you have to go to Shawnee Mission Ford, PLEASE at all costs avoid the "help & service" of old "I do not care" man JOHN METZGER or you will regret it, and your kids will regret it, and your spouse will regret it, and your dog and cat, and everyone and everything that gets on your way after dealing with this individual. I obviously asked to talk to the Service Manager and was (after another long wait) introduced to KEESHA MASON, whom by the way, has the Tittle, but a complete inability of doing anything, so yes, she's the "Manager" but as helpful as a spoon when you're trying to eat steak. I've have had really bad and shadowy customer service throughout my life and I know that it's something that comes and goes like the ocean tides, but this was by far a freackish nightmare which ruined my day and the people around me. Be Careful. I recently bought a car from this dealership. My very first car for that matter. Long story short, I knew what I needed for a payment per month. The second to last offer was close, but was still off from where we needed to be so I told them no. After going back and forth at the dealership for 2 hours (which is not unusual) we finally got the numbers and interest rate to where they needed to be. I signed the papers that night and picked up the car 2 days later. After a week of driving the car, I get a call that says we needed to come in and resign paperwork. When I asked why, I was told that the interest rate they promised and that we signed paperwork on was not going to work. Turns out...the interest rate and the monthly payment that they had for me now was the second to last offer that I turned them down on. When asked if there was anything they could do to honor the monthly payment agreed upon, they said no because they had to remove dents and fix the visor that needed to be fixed regardless of if I was buying it or it was going onto the lot for another week. So not only was the AGREED UPON rate and monthly payment never an option...they just told me that to get me to sign...but they also threatened to not pay off the difference of my trade in and take the new car back. On top of it all...the car is already having issues. The bluetooth system gives out and the whole sync system freezes and one of the windshield wiper fluid spouts doesn't work. So to the point of my rant, make sure if you buy a car from these people, that you hold them to their rate they offer and let them know if it is going to change in a week, that you are not going to accept it. Make this dealership be honorable. Shame on you Shawnee Mission Ford for taking advantage of a first time car buyer. Shame on you. read more

My wife just went in today after a receiving a "you won $5000" scratch off in the mail from this dealership. We were not dumb about it, we read the fine print and even Googled it to check the legitimacy of it. We knew it wasn't true; it was just a scam to get you to walk into their doors. What the scratch off actually means is that you won "A chance to win something", totally not at all ambiguous, right? Still, even knowing this, my wife wanted to go anyway because she wanted to look at a new family car that she had in mind. When she got there, of course she didn't win anything. The scratch off is a flat out lie, a scam, and should be entirely illegal. I seriously doubt you even have the chance to actually win anything--the fine print shows the odds, but like I've said, it's completely ambiguous to how the board in the store that you have to check you number against even works. Is it refreshed hourly? Daily? Monthly? This would invariably change the odds of winning, and that's assuming the odds of winning actually exist at all! But you know, it's like I said...we knew this was a scam before she even went in. She truly just wanted to look at a new family car, the scratch off was just a "what if we can at least get a few hundred bucks off?" kind of thing, to go along with her. So how did her experience go? Terrible. God awful. The moment she got there she was ganged up on by two employees, one of them was apparently a manager. She said they were both completely rude to her, and almost came off as bullying her. They told her the car she wanted was not available because her credit was bad (It's seriously not), and that she would need to buy an older model, that somehow cost more. They wanted $340 a month for this thing! They couldn't even provide it in the color she wanted. This is called a bait and switch, they don't want to sell her a newer model when they have the older ones in the lot and need to get rid of them. It's a scam. Everything they do is apparently a scam. Her credit is not bad. It's not fantastic by any means, but it's not bad. Compared to most people, her credit is great. I've read online that it's quite common for car dealerships to work this sort of credit score scam, too. They tell someone their credit is bad in order to belittle them, and make them freak out that they won't be approved. Which then makes them want to take any offer the sales guy says he can do. Again, this should actually be illegal and result in jail time. The world is already horrible enough without people like this. Also, she tried to trade in her truck. An older dodge that has admittedly seen better days. We looked into pricing online and we know that we could at least get $2000 for this as a trade in, minimum. They wanted to give us $1000. That's downright insulting. I wasn't with her, but I'm sure the increased price of $340 a month for the new car was also a scam. They were willing to give her $1000 for her truck, but then in turn raised the price of the new vehicle to secretly match what they were giving her for the truck. Basically, they were getting a truck for free. Their online pricing is also an absolute fabrication. So don't look at their website and say "Whoa, only $240 a month?!", because it's a lie. Everything. They. Say. Is. A. Lie. I cannot possibly stress that any more than I have already attempted to do so. I'm writing this review in the hopes of helping at least 1 person. Best hopes, is that I can help at least 1% of people. If it's any more than that, even better! Do NOT go here. These people lie about everything. Their goal is to give you absolutely nothing you want, and give themselves everything that they want. EDIT: We also just found the exact same car she wanted in Butler Missouri, for $6000 less. When I initially displayed interest in one of the vehicles at this location, I was contacted immediately to set up a time to come look at it. When I went to look at the car everything seemed okay minus a few bumps and bruises. There was no negotiating of the price. The salesman insisted that the price was "unbeatable" and "a great deal". The vehicle had only 1 owner and low miles so I just went ahead and made the purchase. The fact that the vehicle was owned by a rental agency should have been my que to walk away because shortly after buying the vehicle I found out that it would randomly decide not to start. I got it checked out by a mechanic in addition to the one of the dealership. Both told me there were multiple fault codes in the transmission and went ahead to fix them. Even after having the issue fixed twice, I opted to try and get a different vehicle. I didn't want my money back. Just another car. Of course I fought for several weeks to make this happen and not until the very end did I get to talk to the manager. He cowardly came out of his office once I mentioned reporting their dealership to the Better Business Bureau and in no time I was in a different vehicle. Later down the road I looked to sell my vehicle as I was going to NY and needed an suv. All I needed was some information about the extended warranty I purchased from the dealership when I bought the vehicle. The finance manager was nothing but rude and disrespectful to me. He danced around giving me the information because he knew that the yet to be paid off extended warranty was about to lose him money once I sold the vehicle. Never again will I do business with a staff made up of disrespect and immature tactics to try and hold onto sales. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I made an appointment for recall work and was told at the time of making the appointment the work would take 4-6 hours. Upon arrival at 7:00 AM I was told there was a chance my car wouldn't be done today. When I scheduled the appointment I was told loaner cars are not available but I could rent one through Enterprise. I chose not to pay for a rental, this is recall work, not my choice...I shouldn't have to pay for a car. When I was visibly upset that the car may not be done in 4-6 hours they told me they would check about a loaner for the day...so wait, if I'm upset you can provide a loaner?! Upon checking, they were not able to provide a loaner. I scheduled this appointment last week and was surprised how quickly they could get me in. They clearly over-schedule their service department. Just know that making an appointment doesn't really mean your car will be serviced at the time of your appointment. The only good thing I can say is at least they told me at 7:00 that they were behind and it may not be done today. They need to make realistic appointments. I called Bob Allen Ford when leaving and was told they couldn't get me in until October...oh, and they have loaner cars! read more

DO NOT GO HERE. My elderly mother purchased a car here a year ago. After her purchase it was in the shop for various serious problems 8-10 times during the year. We finally were able to get them to purchase the car back from her. The 2012 Ford Focus, VIN : 1FAHP3F25CL115744 is again for sale on their website. The AutoCheck they provide is extremely misleading. This car has been in multiple accidents and, at 48,000 miles, has even required an engine replacement. This is not reflected on the AutoCheck. My mother was even coerced into filing an insurance claim for some of the work that was done on her car because they told her she caused the damage. Later their own auto mechanic told her that the damage was caused from the accident of the previous owner. In addition, when her car was in their "shop" for most of November 2015, her handicap placard was stolen and the 2016 registration sticker was stolen off her license plate. It is interesting on YELP that when you go to read the SM Ford reviews all the bad reviews are in the "not recommended reviews" section. I'm sure that is where this will end up also, but hopefully someone reads this before they too are totally ripped off. SHAME ON SHAWNEE MISSION FORD for taking advantage of people. This place should be investigated by the Kansas Attorney General and shut down by the Kansas Insurance Commissioner. To see that car on their website a week after we returned it infuriates me. It should have been totaled a long time ago. I pity the person who is CONNED into buying it. read more

I have been going to SMF for 20+ years. The one story that I refer to most is about a Ford I didn't buy at SMF but took it there to be diagnosed. The vehicle I owned was bought back by Ford on Lemon Law. The truck would die or idle erratically and no one could figure it out, not even the guys in Detroit after 3-4 months. I bought it from a dealer in Smithville for a really good deal for a 1 ton dually with V10. After several months of owning it the truck started acting up. I didn't think it made sense to take it to SMF if Detroit couldn't figure it out. But, a buddy told me that SMF has some of the best big truck mechanics in the country. So, I took it to them and it took them a few days but they found the issue no one else could and fixed it. It was a wiring harness that was very time consuming and involved to change. I recently had a car worked on at this dealership. On top of labor, and the price of the part, I was charged $24.99 for "Supplies." I questioned them on this charge, and was told there is always a supplies charge and you are billed a percentage of the total labor charge. The issue is that my requested service did not require any supplies to be used. They said no matter what, there is always a supplies charge. So if you would like to pay an extra 25% for supplies (whether they are used on your vehicle or not), continue going to this shop. Otherwise, I would recommend looking elsewhere. I will not bring any of our 2 Ford vehicles back to this shop again. read more

I bought a vehicle here over the summer. The second week that I had it, it did this weird thing when I had slowed down for a red light but the light turned green before I was completely stopped and when I hit the gas it jerked really hard and felt like someone had hit me from behind. I chalked it up to maybe I was too harsh on it but since then it has happened 4 more times. I started researching it on the internet and found that it is actually an issue with this particular vehicle and that Ford has a Technical Service Bulletin out for this exact problem. I also read that if it isn't corrected that it can cause the transmission to go out prematurely. When I went in for my first oil change I brought this up to them and was told that it wasn't in warranty so it would cost $800-$900 to repair. I could understand them making me pay for it if it was an issue that had developed while I owned it, but this problem is one that the vehicle has had since it was built and that it had when they sold the vehicle to me. When I purchased this vehicle, I had reason to believe that if I am paying $18k for a used vehicle that they wouldn't sell me one that has a non repaired preexisting manufacturer defect. I will not go back here for my service again and I will never buy a car from them again. Very unhappy with this place read more
