Let me first say that the attitude of the owner is not good at all. I have taken my car in a number of times and each time the problem remained unfixed, and something new was broken. This last trip, which was to be my last visit to this establishment, yet another part, near where they were working, was now broken. On top of that there was grease all over my door and a greasy rag was left on my seat, and my car was out on the street unlocked.....I'm done! read more

My husband and I used to take all our cars here. Never again!! Please read before taking car there!!! If you know what is wrong with your car and just need someone with little mechanical skill to replace parts, great. They are part replaces at best. If you require ANY sort of actual mechanical work DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!! I took my Camero here for a window motor replacement...Shaw's verbally said he "was not good with electrical but he would try" (mind you I replaced my own window motor previously on the driver side by myself no problem I was just busy, didn't want to do it myself so I figured I'd pay him to do it) so I get my car back over a week later and I am experiencing electrical issues with my alarm system. I take it back to him...again it sits for a week before his young employee gets to it. Then he calls me saying "uuh so the reason your car won't start is because it doesn't have a battery" I said, "it had a battery when we got it towed to you..." he goes " oh let me look around the shop, I'll call you back" Calls back saying that his employee call out sick after putting battery on charger and he apparently has no idea of the goings on within his shop. Then he has the audacity to charge me money for putting in a new battery and is arguing with me that the battery had to of been the issue ignoring all logic. So whatever I payed him for a new battery and apparently a finders fee for putting the battery in which I could have easily done myself. No my car is having the same electrical issue WITH THE NEW BATTERY. His shop possesses zero mechanical skill. If you are a women he WILL treat you like you are dumb. I used to work in a classic car shop and have a decent amount of car knowledge especially with my Camero and he acted like I had no idea what I was talking about turns out I was right the whole time. Maybe he needs to go back to school, take some refresher courses and actually learn to work of cars instead of just replacing parts and hoping for the best. Or hire an ACTUAL mechanic instead of some underpaid kid who calls in sick. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. read more

I went to Shaw's because I saw all the wonderful reviews. I paid around $1500 for tie rods, 2 window regulators, and a window panel and within a few months, everything started breaking and it was obvious that work that they said was never done. I paid to get new regulators in two windows and within a month both of the windows started having issues and eventually stopped working. It was obvious to me that new regulators were not put in the windows as they were behaving exactly the same as my previous regulators which makes me think they greased up the old ones and put them back in and charged me. My door panel started coming off, my window got stuck and I had to tape it up, wait a week to be seen, so I could bring it back. He fixed the door and reset the window, but he obviously didn't put in a new regulator and told me that it's fine. He didn't want to check the other window but I told him it's broken. He reluctantly looked at it and told me he'll get a new regulator for it, which, is proof that it was never done the first time. I also paid to get suspension work done. I got tie rods done on each side on the front end and also a boot. After I left the shop and took it to get aligned, the technician informed me that I needed new tie rods on the front end. I told him I just left the shop from getting tie rods put in on the front end and that's why I'm getting the alignment. He told me that they didn't do all the tie rods and that they needed to be done. Within a few months I started having all of the same problems that I initially took it in for. They stole around $1500 from me and he told me that he put in a bad part in the suspension and that he'll reimburse me for the part and I can pay him $500 to fix it. Now you know and can make an informed decision on where to spend your money. read more

I live in Modesto but I went to Shaw's to get my car fixed, then smogged because my friend lives in Oakdale. Anyway, what I wanted done to my car was pretty simple. I just wanted them to take out a bad part and install a new part I bought. They were pretty reasonable with the labor costs. They charged me $40 even though they had to spend some extra time making the part fit correctly. My smog appointment was for the next day and I was in & out of there in 15 minutes. The smog was a bit pricey, it was $45 & I know I could have found somewhere else to do it cheaper but I came back because they did such a good job fixing my car the day before. read more

recommended this place by a friend for some work done on my car. they had a few hours to fix the problem and when I called to see if it was done, they told me it would be a few minutes, they left parts inside my car and felt that they rushed the work just to appease me. I also found some issues with my car due to their negligence or trying to persuade me to bring my car back for more repairs. Not very impressed with owner's demeanor or how he treats customers. I went to this place looking for a smog check station for my car in my hometown. I walked up to Rich and asked if I could have my car smogged. He said sure, but not today. His tech was gone until the following week and to come back then. I told him I couldn't and I had to get it done that day somehow since it was already late as it was. His quip: "I have an idea. How about you start earlier next time." Taken aback, I told him that would have been nice if I could have afforded it at an earlier time. He told me he didn't know what to tell me and walked off. I guess I was looking in the wrong place for a technician to smog my car, not a comedian. Apparently I am much better off going to another business that actually values me as a customer. I will never trust this business with my car, even if it was the last one in town. I don't see how they stay in business with shoddy customer service like that. I wouldn't even rate this place one star but I couldn't post this review without it. read more
