Are they open? It's one of those places where you really need to call first before heading there. I've been disappointed more than once. Food is mediocre, but OK. Value for the money is on the low side. Ambiance is good, but speed of service is just not a thing. 90 minutes to get a breakfast of eggs and toast is not OK. And that has happened more than once. Second visit. Really worth the time to go so as to support live music. Made a reservation, but it was unnecessary. Greeted quickly and seated quickly. Party of four and we agreed the wait service was awkward and uneven. She took our drink order immediately, but a little slow to come out. Our food order was quick to come out. Too quick...as conversation over a drink was mot possible. Our friend had the lasagna and was quite satisfied. Our other halves had the strip steak and both were satisfied. I had the prime rib and it had excellent flavor, but was not hot. Waitress did not try to sell us a second drink or dessert. We enjoyed the owner who visited our table and "She Sings." Stay away!!!Service was nonexistent. Waited 40 minutes for our check while the staff seemed more interested in chatting at the bar than actually working. The place was half-empty (probably because word's getting out how awful it is), yet they still managed to lose our order twice. Lake views? Sure, if you like staring at water while your stomach churns from bad food.Food? Absolute garbage. The "farm-to-table" menu is a joke. My breakfast sandwich arrived cold, soggy, and tasting like it was microwaved from last week's leftovers. The eggs were rubbery, the bacon was burnt to charcoal, and the "fresh" fruit looked like it had been sitting out since the place opened in 2024. Prices were ridiculous--$18 for that slop? I've been here twice. Both times I was pleased. I had the same waitress, super friendly lady. I've had the chicken sandwich and the tuna sandwich. I've brought my kids. And it was approved by them. We waited for the end of season to try this place. Old Dicks /Chautauqua Harbor House in a new wrapper. The updates to the interior, ceiling, tables, etc have certainly brightened up the space and feels clean. It took awhile to get our order in considering only 3 tablets were seated. I ordered breakfast and my wife the lunch special. Coffee was good and strong, breakfast was fine. My wife felt the same about her chicken & Biscuits meal. We came here for breakfast after visiting the Chautauqua Institute. I ordered steak and eggs. I asked for medium rare steak - it was extra well done and not seasoned at all. I think it was microwaved and grilled briefly. The "steak" was more like a deli slice of roast beef than a steak. Wait staff did not ask if it was cooked properly. Asked for scrambled eggs and they came out more like a folded omelette than scrambled. The potatoes were definitely old and recooked. My wife got the Cowgirl omelette and was not happy it. Someone in our group got fruit and the melon was not even cut up. We had no spoons on the table to mix creamer or sugar into our coffee. Food is drastically overpriced for the poor quality. read more

Went here for music and a drink a couple weeks ago, visited for the band that was playing. Weird energy as the band took their break, and the owner starting playing the piano instead of the band. Music was oddly quiet from the band like they kept having to turn down. Seemed like everyone was enjoying their songs. Great story, but unprofessional to play while other people are playing. What a find! Don't miss an opportunity to dine at She Sings. Warm atmosphere with nice lighting and inviting bar. We were with a large group for dinner, which they handled with ease. Attentive staff! Dinner for my husband and I was an excellent smoked Gruyère meatloaf with a nice red wine. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals as well. Thank you Chef! And yes, She Sings! This place is terrible. The good we were served was freezer burned and tasteless. We contacted Owner privately to be nice. She Sings cafe Is a great place to go to for not only a meal but also some music. The owner is a wonderful host, and if you're lucky she'll play a little piano! I have gone to this cafe twice, one with my family and friends for dinner, and one with just my family for brunch. For dinner I recommend getting the fish and chips, where they give you a good healthy portion of fish, and on the side, some fries and tartar sauce. For breakfast, my favorite was the chicken and waffles, which is like a sandwich with chicken in the middle, and even though it's different it's still delicious. Breakfast here was so disappointing. The potatoes tasted like they were old and just re-fried. The omelet sucked and was so wimpy for the price. The waitress never brought the coffee I asked for or even a water. And she never stopped back to check on us so I couldn't even remind her about the coffee. We had to take all the condiments, sugar, etc from another table since we had none at ours and never had the chance to ask our waitress. Overall, very disappointed in this experience and will likely not be back. read more

The food is delicious! Highly recommend the fish fry. We were in town visiting and stopped in on whim and we were glad we did. If a larger party definitely will want a reservation as the restaurant was busy! Maya was our server and although serving many tables and the bar, she was great and attentive to us. What a wonderful cafe-restaurant. A beautiful, bright, spacious, water side room, with ample parking, a warm welcome, and awesome food and drink selections. The fish and chips were awesome, and the wine too. The owner is a musician and it shows. It's not often you walk into a restaurant with a grand piano and a fine sound system. I understand she is curating excellent live music performances, and while I was there she was happy to respond to a request by a just married couple to perform the jazz classic "Misty" for them. This was a welcome break en-route to Canada and well worth the 15 minute detour on quiet roads through rolling countryside. It must be a very welcome addition to the local community. The next time I'm passing I'll plan a longer visit to see the town of Mayville and maybe stay the night. read more

With comfort food, upscale, healthy options, new items to taste, signature cocktails, wines, coffees, and desserts, I have been back several times with more and more friends. Favorites include: The prime rib, fish fry, breakfast menu, and salads. We also have so much fun, relax, and enjoy the music every time. Somehow while running a new restaurant, Rebecca, the owner and classically trained, professional piano player, guitar player, songwriter, and singer gives back to the community in several ways, one of which putting on such an impressive show adding fun sing-alongs and requests with no door fee. She even graciously welcomes performers to join her, take some time of their own on the mic, booking various artists to have their shows there. It is a family where everyone knows your name and you meet new people every time you go. I find the positive aspects of the big cities I have lived in with the comfort of home in the beautiful, special town that we all love at She Sings. What a magical combination. It has been perfect for birthdays, holiday celebrations, and events. I can't wait to go again! read more

Food is okay, nothing special. Takes at least 30 min from order to table even for breakfast. Open for dinner, only ever been there for breakfast and lunch. Renovations from the old Lighthouse cleaned it up nicely. Staff is friendly but seem to hide in the kitchen and don't keep an eye on their customers. A couple of times, customers had to go to the counter for coffee refills. Updated technology should make orders fly, but seriously, 30 min for pancakes and 2 pieces of French toast? Prices are reasonable considering the current economic state. read more

What a wonderful addition to Chautauqua! The former Harbor House has been transformed into a beautiful place with fabulous all home made food. I highly recommend "Rebecca's Fave" which is the best spinach tomato and feta omelet I've ever had (and I've had many!) Equally as wonderful as the food is the atmosphere. Such a happy place. The staff is very good and very pleasant. You can tell they all love their jobs! read more

The former restaurant has been completely redone. You would not recognize it from the outdated Harbor House Restaurant. Very bright and cheerful, as are the waitresses who truly seem to enjoy working there. The booths are roomy and comfortable but there is also a choice for a table. I loved the breakfast wrap which comes with either ham, sausage or bacon. Was pleasantly surprised to discover that it comes with a really great fruit cup - huge red raspberries, black berries, strawberries and blueberries. The warp was huge, enough to take half home to enjoy the next day. Mayville is fortunate to have this new restaurant, especially since others have closed. We understand that they will soon be open for the dinner hour as well. read more
