Brittany at the Ballantyne location is so awesome! Have to say that out of the gate. When you walk in you're always greeted and offered a beverage of your choice with a wine, beer, or spirit(s) of the day. The atmosphere is cozy, inviting, and sophisticated while still having espn on but not feeling like a sports centric place. It lacks the cheapness and pandering other gimmicky men's salons typically have. The online booking system is very easy to use. Due to my hectic work schedule I book appointments the day of. I've never had trouble getting a weekday afternoon appointment day of or day before at worst. My head and hair present problems to most barbers both male and female due to multiple growths of direction, cowlicks, etc. Brittany listened to my every request patiently and executed exactly what I wanted on the first try no issue whatsoever. It was stunningly perfect for my head/face shape. I go in about every 3-5 weeks and I don't have to remind Brittany at all what I like, however she does always reiterate that it's what I want to do again before proceeding. When your input is needed she won't make assumptions, she'll stop and ask you how you'd like to proceed. I always defer to the professional and it has always worked out well. So, right up front, this place is 40 bucks. BUT! It's 100% worth it. At least in my experience. FREE beer and adult beverages, coffee, and water. Plus the best haircut of my life. Period. I'm in my mid twenties, so take that with a grain of salt. Ask for Tiffany. She's young but absolutely professional. I gave her a picture of half a haircut and she laid it out perfect. She only works on Saturdays. Sideburns were perfectly even. She did an indescribably excellent job. And kept me comfortable with a relaxed conversation that wasn't overbearing. Nothing forced. Wonderful person. And, I mean, that does matter when you're stuck with a stranger getting your hair cut. This place will make you feel comfortable through out your time there. No stress. The atmosphere was wonderful. You're going to enjoy your time there, promise. They'll take care of you. I've been to a couple of men's salon's over the years and I've become pretty picky. This place exceeds expectations in every way. Every employee here is a complete professional that makes each visit something I look forward to. You are always greeted with a smile, a "can I get your Jacket", and "can I get you something to drink." However; the person who takes this place to the next level is Dana. She's everything you are looking for in a PROFESSIONAL stylist. She takes her time, focuses on every detail, and she's honest. If you want to "do something a little different;" Dana not only knows how to make it happen but she will tell you if it will work with your hair and if it will look good on you. Every time I go see Dana I leave looking and feeling great which is a monumental task considering the canvas she has to work with. I have never been to a salon where they gave me a beer, oiled my beard with freaking ambrosia or something, and massaged my head til I almost nodded off. No rush to figure out my cut and Brittany, the stylist, probably saved me from my own ignorance with advice and explanations like: "We can place the line of your hair lower like you want, but with your cowlicks your hair is going to keep trying to escape your head. If I bring it up to here we can fix that". I need it to be clear that my parents jokingly call me alfalfa and I've needed Brittany to fix the sprigg on the back of my head for the last 20 and change years. No one ever told me you can just buzz that part off. I digress. Experience aside the doo is dope and drops drawers. The staff know what they are doing and take pride in making people happy. The stylist who cut my hair was named Holli, who was extremely receptive and talented in the craft of shaping hair. She is a veteran stylist who will deliver on her promises of giving you the precise haircut you envisioned, all well being a well-versed conversationalist. Overall this salon has a very warm and old western type atmosphere. I recently relocated to Charlotte and was in need of a haircut. Like your doctor or dentist, finding a new hair stylist is a rather important decision. I researched all the top end salons in the area and "Shear Excellence" always was mentioned to be a great place. I then took a chance and thankfully I ended up with Carlie. She gave me one of the best cuts I've ever had. She also educated me on a couple of hair products that I never knew about but now use. Carlie also has a great, friendly and sweet personality. Not my first time to SE but it was my first session with Sarah F. Yes I said "session". She spent 5 minutes just listening to me meander thru details of the last couple months of hair styles and haircut experiences and the look I was going for. Then she developed a plan and talked it over with me before ever picking up the scissors. She took her time trimming me up while carrying on great conversation. I always look forward to my monthly haircut at this fine men's salon. The atmosphere, the people, treatment, all very upscale and pampering. This is the most chill salon I've been to. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly, especially my last stylist, Brittany. I've had some cuts and trims with different people but they're usually not a good fit with my longer hair, however, I've had nothing but pleasant experiences with Brittany. Josalyn is more than exceptional and very skilled/knowledgeable with men's hair styles, and not to mention, very sweet.
