I stopped at this spot from several recommendations I got from people in the Dearborn area. I had pretty high expectations since this place seemed to stand out amongst the many Arab spots. There are three locations, two on Michigan Avenue. I went to the smaller one on 13919 Michigan Ave, which caters to standard dining. It accommodates a good number of people without being super crowded. The 22048 Michigan Ave location accommodates both standard dining and larger groups. I noticed that Yemeni cuisine differs quite a bit from the many types of Middle Eastern food I've eaten throughout my life. The menu was pretty simple consisting of many lamb-based rice dishes and stews. It can be hard to narrow down specific entrees to try, since many descriptions can sound similar. The food lends itself well to family-style dining. We ordered the Sheeba For Four platter and an additional Sheeba Garamish Salad. The Sheeba For Four was impressive; each came in generous portions with fresh and high-quality ingredients. It includes the Fahsah stew containing shredded lamb and stewed potatoes. It came with fresh flatbread which was thinner but flakier than a regular pita. The platter came with both Lamb and Chicken Haneeth over Zorbain Rice. I typically don't like stews, so I was surprised how much I enjoyed the Fahsah. The lamb had the consistency of braised meat without being too gamey. The flatbread was delicious. I was very satisfied with the meat portions that came on the rice platter. Many restaurants load up platters with tons of rice to skimp on meat portions. All of us had decent portions of both lamb and chicken with plenty of leftovers to spare. We concluded our meal with the Dates Fatta Dessert. The bread in this one was crumbled, as opposed to the sliced presentation we were used to. It's not your typical sweet and decadent Arab dessert; the Dates Fatta has a lighter texture and hint of sweetness that can conclude a heavier meal. Overall, I enjoyed Sheeba much more than I thought I would. As an Arab, I can quickly get bored of the various meat and rice dishes available at Mediterranean spots. Sheeba's Yemeni cuisine introduced me to a new and enjoyable avenue of Middle Eastern food. We were also very happy with the service throughout our meal here. Headed here after visiting the Henry Ford Museum. It's a surprising large place with super comfortable seating. Service was quick and attentive. So many wonderful food choices on the menu! Since it was our first time eating here, we asked for food recommendations. The server asked us if we wanted dishes with meat or vegetarian and we chose lamb. She then told us what she would recommend for our meals. Her suggestions were excellent! We ordered the family platter to sample a few dishes along with a veggie platter. The lamb soup that comes with most meals was a spiced rich lamb broth. We also got a cup of the lentil soup and I recommend both as starters. When the platter came out, there was a large portion of lamb placed on a bed of rice. The lentil soup was watery and not good though! We Laos tried their adani tea and expected to be served in those littLe tea cups but were served in to go cups and we didn't love it but it was okay! Now, the reason I gave it 3 is because the food was good but the place was dirty, the table wasn't cleaned well, the water was served in plastic cups, the chairs were broken and in bad conditions, the whole atmosphere was not presentable enough for a sit down restaurants! We were really impressed with our lunch at Sheeba Restaurant. This was our first time having Yemeni food and it was great. Our friend, whose wife is from Dearborn, recommended this place to us. There are two Sheeba Restaurant locations in Dearborn: this one on Michigan Ave which opened in 2015 and the original, I believe, on Dix Ave which opened in 2013. This location shares a building with 360 Lounge, a Lebanese restaurant. It's unassuming from the outside. Inside, the space feels clean and relatively new. The dining rooms (there are two; one can presumably be reserved for large groups and private parties) are spacious and simply decorated with colorful paintings and a touch of Yemeni design/architecture. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. During our lunch visit, the interior was naturally well lit. I felt quite comfortable. The restaurant serves both Yemeni and Mediterranean cuisine. The menu has a decent selection, from breakfast dishes like foul (ful; fava beans), fasolia (kidney beans) and lamb, beef, and chicken galabah (minced meat sauteed with onions, tomatoes, and Yemeni spice) to traditional Yemeni entrees like lamb/chicken agdah stew (with okra, carrots, potatoes, onions, and green peas) and zorbian, a Yemeni staple, similar to biryani (mixed rice). They also offer desserts like fatta (fatteh) and beverages like juices, Adeni tea, and shanina (buttermilk) yogurt drinks. Expect to spend about $11-23 each for most individual dishes. For family-style dining, group platters and trays are available and they do catering too. My fiancee and I ordered from both the special lunch menu, where most entrees (with rice and salad) are under $10 each and most sandwiches (with drink) are under $6 each, and the regular menu. Here's what we went with: * Lamb haneeth ($12.95, lunch portion) - Sheeba's most popular dish; slow-roasted lamb, seasoned and cooked, served with mandi basmati rice * Saltah ($7.95, lunch portion) - fresh assorted root vegetables combined with whipped fenugreek, served bubbling in a hot clay bowl * Shafoot ($4.95) - chopped tanoor bread soaked in labneh yogurt, mixed with cucumbers, green onion, and chutney * Hot tanoor bread ($1) All of the food was delicious. It was very satisfying and comforting and really hit the spot for us. Yemeni house salad, which comes with the lunch entrees, was served first. This was a pretty simple salad consisting of chopped iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes with a wonderful dressing. I'm not sure what the dressing was, but it was light and vinegary with appetizing flavor. The vegetables were fresh, cool, and crisp. The lamb haneeth was outstanding. The quality of the lamb, served bone-in, was excellent. The portion size was generous/reasonable. The meat was tender and flavorful. There was a mix of consistencies including charred outer edges, moist meat, and chewy tendon. The lamb was served with mandi which is a Yemeni rice dish. It's not too different from other basmati rice dishes I've had. Along with lamb, the plate contained some chopped potatoes and carrots. The saltah was great. This stew was hearty. It had a thick, savory, "meaty" broth even though there is no meat in this dish. Both the lamb haneeth and saltah were served with a side of what I call Yemeni "salsa." It resembled a tomato-based Mexican salsa. If anyone knows the name of this sauce, please let me know. Our server told us the sauce contained tomato, mint, onion, and peppers, among other ingredients. It was a cool, light, yummy and fresh-tasting sauce with a little bit of a kick to it. I'm not sure which dish it came with. Our server told us it was meant to be eaten with everything. The shafoot was tasty. This dish is pretty much a salad. It's served cold with many chopped up ingredients mixed up and served together. I loved the different, fantastic flavors in this dish, though I can see some people getting turned off by either its texture (soggy, soaked flatbread) or temperature (cold). The hot tanoor bread was huge. It was served in a basket. There was more than enough bread for the two of us. It was essentially like naan; doughy, puffy, and oven-baked with charred bubbles. Service was super. Our server was friendly and our orders came out from the kitchen in fairly short order. At the end of our meal, we received warm, wet hand towels and our receipt was served in a cute little wooden treasure chest with Sheeba-branded mints and individually-wrapped toothpicks. It is a Yemeni restaurant and I find their food to be more flavorful and not as dry as typical Arabic food. I'm not usually a fan of lamb but their lamb is so delicious and cooked perfectly. The other day my friend was craving some middle eastern food and instead of going to our usual place we settled on trying the food at Sheeba Restaurant. Let me start off by saying that our waiter was fantastic when he found out that this was our first time he immediately started with a few recommendations and making sure we had no questions about the menu. He was very attentive to our needs and overall he made the experience for us. (I just wish I could remember his name) The food was amazing my friend ended up getting a small chicken salad with a shwarma sandwich. The salad she ordered came out and it was a decent size for a small and went above her expectations and mine. I ended up getting the Sheeba Galabah which was made with lamb and some kind of tomato sauce served over a bed of rice and the lamb soup. The soup came out first and it was delicious. When the waiter set the soup down he asked if we wanted to try it with their house sauce. He said "it will add to the flavor of the soup and it's highly recommended." I had to try it out so I did and he was not wrong it really added to not only the flavor of the soup but also the texture a little bit. The Sheeba Galabah was fantastic very rich and savory and the portion was huge I had enough for three meals so I was not mad at the price tag of $19.95. Overall the experience was fun and unique and this was my second time going out since some of the restrictions where lifted. They even brought us out hot towels to freshen up with that where fragranced with perfume and oils. It was an awesome way to end the meal. I was so excited to try these place as I never had a Yemeni food before. Went there for Dearborn restaurant week, drove 40 minutes just to be very disappointed with the total experience. The only best part of the meal was the bread, it was amazing. Service was one of the worst I ever had, our server was not fully aware of all the items included in the lunch meal, and of course when the food arrived there were missing items, so I had to request them. The worst thing was the waiting time, from the moment we ordered, the food arrived to us after 40 minutes!!! There were many other people that arrived much later than we and got their food sooner. At one point another server came to our table and asked if somebody took care of us, so I explained that we ordered food like 30 minutes ago. She went to check in the kitchen, the food arrived about 10 minutes later. I thing our first server simply took our order and never gave it to the kitchen... at this point we were so irritated, we just wanted to eat and leave. So now to the food. As I mentioned earlier, the one and only highlight of all the food we got was the bread. Fahsah - was so greasy we barely touched it, also the flavor was not good. Chicken Haneetha - the chicken looked more like cooked other than broiled and it was also very greasy. Rice had no flavor, mushy and bland. The veggies that were on that plate also very bland. Hummus was just regular, nothing special, so was the falafel. Overall, not impressed at all, we left very disappointed and for the next 2 days we had a stomach ache after that greasy meat. We got there bit after lunch, so lunch service was over and they just turned over for dinner service. We walked in and the place was empty. After a while, we were greeted and seated and reviewed the dinner menu. We went with the following items: - Lamb Haneeth - Chicken Haneeth - 1/2 order - Shish Combo (Shish Kabob, Kafta and chicken kabob) - this is what I ordered For the first two dishes, you get a choice of soup or salad and for the shish combo, you get either rice or fries and soup or salad. We all went with the soup, but the waitress never asked me if I wanted rice or fries with my order and when the dish came out, it was served with rice; so if you want the fries, make sure you request it - but I would recommend you stick with the rice, you won't be disappointed. Both the lamb and chicken were cooked well, the meats came off the bones, juicy and moist. I would definitely order those again, but if I had to choose between both - I would go with the lamb. As for my order, the combo - I like that you get to try all three options in one plate, the only draw back - the lamb and chicken kabob's were burnt and the chicken was dried. Overall, I was bit disappointed with my order, especially with two of the kabobs being burnt and the chicken being dried out. This is the reason for 3 stars for this review. Hands down my favorite restaurant of all Detroit/Dearborn so far. I went to plenty of places but this one stole my heart. Yemeni cuisine is flat out one of the best I've ever had; definitely a top 5 now for me. This restaurant has lots of space with good amount of seating. Their service is attentive and efficient. I started with their lentil soup and fresh slices of lemon wedges on the size to provide a citrus bite. I then ordered their popular Fahsah which is shredded lamb in mashed potato and placed in this clay pot that's sizzling. You can see the stew bubble up every time. The lamb is tender and easy to slice apart. This dish is excellent especially with their tandoor hot bread to pair up with. It's almost like a naan to stew comparison. For my main course, I had their Lamb Zorbian which is marinated lamb cooked along with the basmati rice and flavored with parsley, onion and scallions. All together, this was delicious and fulfilling. The lamb just melts like butter and the rice is cooked to perfection. The dish comes with this 'salsa' which is finely blended tomatoes and other spices. Pour that on top of the Zorbian and BOOM! You're in Yemen Heaven. This spot was awesome. I shared a platter for two and had both the Haneeth and Galabah served over rice and a size of mixed vegetables is a sauce. The Haneeth was their most popular dish essentially slow roasted lamb that was super tender and easily pulled off the bone. The Galabah was minced lamb and beef in an onion and tomato based sauce. All in all a very hearty meal that probably could've been shared between 3 or 4 people with the amount of leftovers I took home. They do have quite the number of vegetarian options as well which is great as one of the members in our group was vegetarian. Also forgot to mention that our platter we ordered came with a side of soup or salad. I ended going with the lentil soup with was a bit on the thick side but also hearty and delicious. Also loved their fresh made tanoor bread for $1 per order. Generous in size and excellent for dipping into their hummus or baba ghanouji or just about any left over sauce on your plate. My brother and I visited Detroit for the first time this past weekend, and eating authentic Middle Eastern food in Dearborn was at the top of my list of things to do while in town. It wasn't busy at all (being a little late for breakfast and a little early for lunch, I imagine), and we were seated immediately. I decided to order breakfast, while my brother decided to eat lunch (they brought both menus to the table for us). I got mathlooth - foul, fassolia, and eggs mixed in a clay bowl and topped with olive oil and tahini sauce. (Foul is mashed fava beans with sauteed onions and tomatoes, while fassolia is kidney beans sauteed with onions and tomatoes.) I loved this dish. It was simple but really delicious. The portion was on the larger side, so (sadly) I couldn't finish it. But it was a hearty, delicious breakfast that I would eat again. My brother ordered shrimp galabah (little shrimp sauteed with onions, tomatoes, and special seasoning). He loved it. I'm not super into those little baby shrimps, but the dish had great flavor. I think I would have loved the lamb or beef version of this dish! We also ordered the fresh bread, which was amazing. I also got Yemeni tea which was like a very sweet chai, but very good.
