After a nightmare of a range anxiety experience with my F150 lightning, my wife and I decided to look at the GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1. While returning from an overnight work trip, I impulsively stopped by Sheehy GMC of Hagerstown and was promptly greeted by the amazing Wanda Bennett. I was in my two-day old work clothes: a green "Ocean City, MD" hoodie, a dusty black puffer work jacket, with a beat-up trucker's cap, didn't exactly meet the profile of a Denali buyer. I explained to Wanda of my predicament. She took the time and care to listen to my every word and guided me without the stereotypical high pressure sales. I also met her manager, Chris, who also displayed same calm, professional demeanor. He gave me his best price up front, suggested his professional expertise in regard to my two truck trade-ins. I also informed them, that this was my first stop, and I had three other dealerships to check out. No stringing along, no non-sense. Chris and Wanda wished me luck and promised to follow up. After bouncing from dealership to dealership, my final stop was at a dealership where I last purchased my current truck. To my surprise, I was engulfed in the dreaded stereotypical "car buying experience" at my "own" dealership! They tried to guilt me, humiliate me, contradict me into buying theirs over Sheehy's. In the end, they did offer a very competitive offer for my trade-ins but not without leaving me with a horrible taste of disgust. I left without buying. Next morning, when Wanda followed up as she promised, I initially told her I was going to wait. After mulling over ourselves back and forth, we decided to sell our trade-ins on our own and to go ahead with the purchase. Sheehy GMC of Hagerstown was the farthest from my house, over an hour an a half away. While other (much closer) dealerships were willing to match Sheehy's offer or even beat their trade-in values, we couldn't help ourselves from driving back with delight, back to Hagerstown. The warmth of family, professional courtesy, and no hassle buying is very real at Sheehy GMC Hagerstown! From the finance manager who kindly explained the contract without trying to hard upsell (I did end up buying the Sheehy VIP pass), to Wendy, the evening manager that night who really took care of me when we hit a minor hitch, to Steve, a neighboring salesperson, who kindly struck up a conversation and voluntarily showed me how to operate the truck while I waited, this had to be my most memorable, pleasant car buying experience in my 50 year old, 25-year veteran-salesperson's life!! I bought a truck from Kevin O'Conner which was a huge mistake. I never even received any sales papers from Kevin until a month after I had the truck. He would not respond and has very poor communication. There's damages to the truck I did t notice until the snow was gone and I went to wash the truck. Not even expensive parts or anything. But Kevin keeps blaming the transport guys and me for the damages the truck came with. I've continued to try and resolve the situation but Kevin refuses to make it right. It has absolutely nothing to do with money here. It's all about the principle. I purchased a truck cash. CASH. I have been leasing vehicles since I was 24 years old and this is the worst experience I ever had returning said lease. First of all, before returning the lease we made a phone call to this dealership to check about process. So the next day my husband took the vehicle in to speak to the man he was recommended to -which was the manager. He was told that he was off for a few days and that my husband could take our car and drive it to Frederick and turn it in down there. Unbelievable! My husband was not going to do that so he then waited 45 minutes outside in the heat -due to this corona epidemic . Then a sales person came out ...not the manager and collected some information and went and looked at the car . He then came back and said "what happened to the bumper?" - very accusatory as if we were common criminals. Then the sales person wanted my husband to sign a paper that verified there was damage to the bumper. My husband did not sign anything because there was no damage. Then all of a sudden the manager -who is supposed to be off -shows up outside to come talk to us. Which by this time my husband has called me to come to the dealership because there was a problem -and I had to leave work early. The manager also wanted us to sign this paper -we both refused and I said "I'm not paying for this- there's no damage " and he said "well we're not paying for it either" then after he went inside and came back out he said "well there is no accident report on the vehicle" -as if we were lying about bumper damage previously. We had already purchased another vehicle and just wanted to turn this in and complete the transaction and be done .So reluctantly we just signed so we could leave. Then the manager left and said he would be right back and he never returned ,but sent out a lackey to give us a copy of paperwork . Then he started to walk away and my husband stopped him and said we would like to take our tags and return them to the DMV- can you take them off for us? Ridiculous , unprofessional car experience ever. I would not recommend Sheehy Hagerstown to anyone. Just got the final GM financial statement which shows NO DAMAGE (as we had stated previously to the people at Sheehy ) and we just paid the disposition fee. read more

Poor service department!!! After paying to have the cabin air filter replaced all the parts that were taken off to install it including the glove box assembly were never put back on. All the clips and parts were left laying on the passenger side floor board. I did not realize until after arriving home I went to out receipt from service work in the glove box and it literally fell off!!!! read more

Fast, friendly service. Clean, neat waiting area with free coffee and donuts. Was going to buy seat covers when the parts salesman ask the type of vehicle I drove? When I informed him of the make and year of my vehicle he advised me that my seats had side airbags sewn into the seat and the leather covers I had selected would hinder the air bag deployment, something that was not written on the box the seat covers were packaged in! I live in the Annapolis area and I have purchased 2 vehicles from this dealership and always bring my vehicles back for service due to the friendly and helpful employees and the way I am treated. read more

I recently purchased a 2002 Mazda Miata from this dealership. During the test drive the car was completely fine. About 10 minutes after i purchased this vehicle i was driving down the highway when the engine started severely misfiring and the cam sensor failed. when the service manager got there with a loaner vehicle i was told they would fix it and the car would be fine. I work in the automotive industry and i know that these problems can cause permanent engine damage. after telling them i wanted to cancel the entire transaction i still felt very pressured to go through with keeping this car. i ended up getting all of my money back but overall it was a terrible experience. i almost caused multiple accidents on the highway when the car broke down at 75mph. 3 days later the car is back up on their website like nothing happened. Highly recommend going anywhere but Sharrett if you are buying a used vehicle. read more

I would advise everyone to steer clear of Sharrett. I am aware of occurrences where they claimed to have performed services on a vehicle, such as tire rotation, and have been proven otherwise. I would not trust them for a minute. My last and final interaction with this business was the worst of all. I recently took my GMC Acadia in for service. Less than a month later I ended up requiring a replacement for a battery which I originally purchased and had installed through this department no more than a year prior. After picking up the vehicle from the battery change, the VERY next time driving it I began having electrical issues that had not once occurred prior to them touching my vehicle. I took my car back the very next business day. I was shrugged off and told there was nothing wrong. I was made late to work and to multiple appointments, including a scheduled surgery, from this sporadic issue which occasionally prevented my vehicle from starting and kept my key locked in the ignition and unable to be removed. I want to reiterate, this was never an issue UNTIL SHARRETT TOUCHED MY VEHICLE. The final straw came the night my lights shut off while driving to the grocery store in the dark when I was almost rear ended. My interior lights shut off, taillights, turn signals and flashers all failed to work with the vehicle in motion on the road in pitch darkness. I immediately turned around and took my vehicle home where it once again left the key stuck in the ignition, yet this time the car was left running and unable to be shut off! After this, even with the vehicle still running it would not go into gear or budge in any way. Once we finally got the vehicle shut off, the key remained stuck and the car would not start for an entire weekend. I took the vehicle back yet another time to explain to them the situation and ended up getting the run around where I was basically told over and over you can't prove we did anything to the vehicle so we aren't going to cover it. After diagnosis I was told it was an issue with the body control module (which we had assumed from the get go and mentioned to the guy, who was half listening I might add). As a side note, from the beginning I asked to speak with someone in charge of the service center and was simply directed to a service consultant because there was no manager available at that time. When I asked what could have caused this problem the only answer I received was "it just happened", no other explanation was given. I even called numerous other GMC service centers to ask if it was possible that changing the battery could have shorted something or caused this issue in any way and was told it was absolutely a possibility. One technician specifically explained in detail how this could have occurred. After being reassured of this, I am convinced Sharrett screwed up my vehicle, yet still refuses to take any responsibility for a mistake which is going to end up costing me double the cost of what I had initially taken it in for. I'm not sure when the customer always being right went out the window but apparently they are so money hungry they would rather risk losing customers than own up to one mistake and fix the problem, they caused, free of charge. Considering the hundreds of dollars I had previously paid them, I feel this should have never been a questionable issue but it especially should not have been drawn out to this extent. Not only have they wasted my time, gas, and money. I have been left without a reliable vehicle leaving me in all kinds of dilemmas. I have more children to haul around than can fit into a standard car, therefore don't have another vehicle readily available to be fooling with all of this nonsense. The most frustrating part of this entire ordeal is the fact that I took the vehicle in for service with minor issues that still left the vehicle in a drivable and reliable state only to be returned a vehicle in an unusable condition, worse off then when it was taken in. I feel this is an untrustworthy business with no care or concern for customers, not to mention total rip offs only concerned with making a big buck. I believe this business is full of negligent technicians and service representatives who seem to have taken "how to b.s. your customer" courses. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. Someone who causes more problems than they fix does not deserve a cent of anyone's hard earned money. DO NOT TRUST SHARRETT!! Save yourself time and unnecessary hassle. Go somewhere else for your vehicle needs. There are other options. Don't allow them to rob you or risk your life. SHARE IT! For those who believe they have had nothing but a positive experience with this place. Who's to say you haven't been charged outrageous prices for unnecessary services? We had scheduled our 2008 GMC Yukon for service in order to check an engine light, fix an arm rest, look at a severed wire on our DVD system and to get an oil change. We had purchased an extended warranty a year and a half ago when we purchased the vehicle from Sharrett. The appointment was scheduled on a Tuesday but the dealership couldn't get us in until Thursday. When we did get the vehicle in on Thursday we were informed later in the day by Ryan Barker, the service consultant, that there was some major work that needed to be done. In all about $5000 worth of work. I felt OK until he told me that we had gone over our maximum mileage that was allowed in the warranty by just 20 miles. My heart sank. I had lost my job a few months earlier and had still found no employment. I remember thinking, what are we going to do. However, without missing a beat, Ryan said he was going to work for us and try and get the warranty company to fix the mechanical issues at the very least. All said and done, Ryan and his service manager, Jeff Braitman, were successful in getting the warranty company to cover ALL of the repairs, even the arm rest and DVD player. To elevate even more stress for us, Ryan even got us a nice loner to use for the entire week while they had our car. Ryan and his boss went above and beyond for us when they certainly did not have to. There hard work was an amazing blessing to us.
