Extremely rude vet assistants and vets themselves, the veterinarian cut me off as I would answer his questions and had a bad attitude in general. Assistant also seemed to be having a bad day constantly shaking her head because of my pet acting up(only being loud not physically moving) but it's extremely unprofessional to just shake your head almost in disapproval in front of the owner. They always try to get you to purchase a medicine regardless of it's needed and even when you turn it down they still tell their front desk receptionist to give it to you and they mark it up to around 500% compared to Amazon. Their only redeeming quality are their front desk receptionist who have always been nice and gave me no trouble explaining what was added by the vets, but sadly since the place is a veterinary and the focus is on the vets and the pets their hard work doesn't shine through as much. read more

I have been bringing my dog, Roxie here for about 6 years now. Today I took my dog for her shots and cat, Molly for a checkup. We saw Dr. M. Martinez. She was very warm, knowledgeable, helpful and super friendly. She gave us some good advice on my cats behavior issues. I will now start requesting for my animals to see Dr. Martinez. The only thing that's stopping me from a 5 star review is the wait time every time I bring my baby's in. It gets packed and from my experience, I usually wait a little over an hour. My dog was diagnosed with Acute renal failure die to Dr. Bernstein "professional" opinion. This "doctor" doesn't care about your animal. She never even bothered to tell me any side effects on these two meds. This office is all about money! I am a great customer and my dog likes the docs there, but what was done to my dog is irreversible. Due to this negligence, my 6.5 pound dog was under 3 days of IV. And she administered the same dosage for a dog that is 5 times larger than mine. I guess its standard practice right? When asked about this situation, I was told it is impossible that this happened from the injections. I was told, there is NO SIDE EFFECTS. C'mon, give me a break here! It's medication, of course there is something that is a side effect right? NOPE! Dr. Bernstein again told me she asked the other doctor at the clinic and they both agreed on that there is not a single side effect. WOW very BELIEVABLE! The following research was sent directly to the office inbox:  Lyme Vaccine Side Effects The side effects of the Lyme vaccine mimic those of the actual disease because of the proteins within it that pets aren't typically exposed to. Experts have found this vaccine to cause arthritis, problems of the heart and nervous system, skin problems, and sudden kidney failure. Many veterinarians have reported that pets given the Lyme vaccine display all the symptoms of Lyme disease, but blood samples taken from the pets showed no evidence that the pets contracted the disease itself.  Research from Cornell University Veterinary School however lists long term effects from vaccination as rheumatoid arthritis to "all the symptoms of actual Lyme Disease to even death via acute renal failure". Today, I left my house and found a very young sick kitten at my doorstep with a broken tail. I, of course picked her up, gave her food and water and immediately took her to find a vet. I walked into this place and was "greeted" by a receptionist with a ton of attitude. She was continuously sighing and I asked her what to do and if they could take it. I told her "Even if I have to take it back with me after it's well, can you please help it?". She went to the back and talked to the vet who never even came out just to look at the cat for a second and he/she would've clearly seen it needed help. She then says "We can't take it, if you want to pay for it, it's going to be $74 just for the exam and it will obviously need more treatment." She said "So if you can't pay for it, well I mean you can just put it back out on the street and maybe somebody else will pick it up." I told her that's an awful thing to say, thanks for nothing and left. I would highly recommend anyone going this place "NO". That the only interest that facility has is money and do not employ an animal loving staff. I would have been fine taking it somewhere else but I'm appalled that they would tell me to put a sick and injured animal back out on the street either to die or for somebody else who can pay them to help. The kitten is 1 to 2 months old. I understand they are a business and not a charity organization, however there was other methods to either help me or send me away without your "animal loving staff" implying me to leave it back out on the street. Wow, I wonder if the doctors are aware of their incompetent front office staff? I have been here twice and the doctors are good. They do try and upsell testing and medication but you can tell them you can't afford and they back off...it's not a hard sell. I made an appt on Sunday to have 2 of my 4 cats come in for dental work. I was able to get a 9:00am appt on Tuesday. The girl on the phone asked an odd question. "Do you want them to have physicals first?" I figured I'd deal with the doctor about this. Anyway, Tuesday came and for some reason, I decided to call and confirm before I left the house. My appt was for 9:00am and surprise, they don't open until 10:00am. So glad I called first, not easy transporting 2 cats. Because of this incompetence, the doctors have lost what could potentially be thousands of $'s. All 4 cats need dental cleanings and possibly extractions. I'll keep looking for a neighborhood vet that employs staff that know what they are doing. read more

I can honestly say that I wholeheartedly disagree with any review of this clinic that is under 5 stars (and this is coming from an obsessed pup owner). Finding a good veterinarian for your kid is a tough job - it will almost always seem as if no one cares for your animal as much as you do. Sheepshead Bay Veterinary Group truly treats my shih tzu as if she's their own. My incredibly timid pup even runs into the arms of Dr. Bernstein (no bribery of any treats here!). The staff is always kind, no matter how many questions I have during my visit and my arrival is always greeted with smiles. The doctors here are incredibly knowledgable and friendly. On top of this - they have hands of gold! My pup typically gets a little bump under her skin after any type of shot. This hasn't happened once in the care of Dr. Bernstein. My shih tzu has dealt with allergies her entire life. Dr. Bernstein successfully placed her on a healthy alternative diet and prescribed her a delicate cream to calm any inflamed spots. To sum it up - I wouldn't trust my baby in the hands of anyone else. read more

Terrible experience ! My cat gets a prescription food and on the 12th month after his previous visit with the dr, the office said we cannot get anymore food until we come in for another visit. Fine, however , i asked if we can come in in a month because of a very difficult schedule. I basically begged for them to give my cat food until i can come in, but they would not work with me! They said no food until you come in. I was in disbelief , they d rather my cat starve than give me a month to get to appointment . All money driven!!! Terrible. Took my records and left. By far the best veterinary hospital I have ever been too. Dr. Sheynberg is very thorough and caring. He rocks! I drive from Staten Island to Brooklyn just to go to this animal hospital. I have been bringing my cats here for at least 5 years. I had to bring my very ill cat to be euthanized and Dr Sheynberg was more upset than I was. This tells me he is dedicated. The prices are reasonable as well. On Staten Island I found prices to be higher. When we bring the cats for their regular check ups our office visit fee is waived because we come from Staten Island. I love the support staff as well. Much nicer than what I have found here on Staten Island. I was referred to this animal hospital from my physician... He takes his cats there. read more

I give these vets 5 stars because they are good at what they do, and it seems like they know their stuff. The reception staff are pleasant as well, so they get 5 stars. My family brought our cat here several years ago because our cat could not urinate. The place kept our cat at their place overnight, gave it some sort of iv drop and a catheter bag, and charged us 1000, which was really steep, especially since we weren't told clearly what was wrong with our cat and what was done by them to fix it. But i give them 5 stars for fixing the problem and saving our cat. After the procedure, the doc put our cat on "prescription" diet and said that the cat will have to be on this diet for the rest of its life. Again, not an issue, because ever since then our cat has been fine. We bought this "prescription" cat food from this office ever since, for about 5 years. Here is where my problem comes in. One day we come to this office to buy the food as we usually do, but they refused to sell it to us because the doctor has to "inspect" our cat first to make sure that the diet is appropriate for it before they can sell it to us. How is that the case when the doctor told us that the cat will have to be on this diet for the rest of its life?? The exam they wanted to perform was gonna cost us couple of hundred dollars before they can sell the food to us again, and they would require this exam in the future every couple of years. What a ripoff! For that, i give these vets negative 15 stars. Never bought this "special prescription" food from them again when i can easily buy it online without any strings attached. Wanted to share my experience with this office, specifically Dr. Anna. I had been driving 40+ minutes to vets (bay ridge and manhattan) in the past because I had bad experiences with a couple of local vets in sheepshead bay. After getting a recommendation from a friend with a dog that required vet visits often, I decided to try Dr. Anna. I could not be more pleased. What I appreciated most was 1 - her genuine care and love of dogs, which is the first thing i notice about any vet. 2 - her honest treatment and recommendations. Dr. Anna was so honest with what she thought my dog needed rather than pushing unnecessary medication/ treatments. She is now my go to vet and the vet of 3 other family and friends cats and dogs that I've referred. We're all thrilled and will continue to be loyal patient. read more

Dr. Sheynberg and Dr. Olga are terrific veterinarians. I have a four year old french bulldog that means the world to me and my family. The first time we ever used their services happen to be out of emergency. Our dog was not doing well and was puking up bile. The vets on Ave x failed to do anything to comfort my dog nor ease our worries but didn't fail to charge us an arm and a leg. When we came Dr. Sheynberg was extremely prompt on giving us a peace of mind. Audrey was diagnosed with two herniated disks and soon enough we were prescribed progesterone and lots of rest and snuggles. He was also very good at updating us and checking up on his patient. At 5pm we were brought into the exam room saying the doctor is almost done. We waited until 550 and decided since no one told us why it's taking so long we left. When asked the receptionist why it took so long and why everyone else was seen before us she replied "we were backed up". Well I guess I'll save my $72 for this visit and go see a Vet who would actual care about wasting our time. If someone asks me about this doctor I will def not send anyone there. Dr. Olga is fantastic! She has a good manner with your pets. I am glad to have a good vet so close to me and the two cats like her. Not that I look forward to taking my pets in for shots/procedures (I am sure they are not too enthusiatic about it either, no matter how cute and perky the doctor is), but knowing that they will be safe and sound eases me (I am one of those 'nervous parents' when it comes to them). The downside is that they wind up overbooking, as walk-ins are the norm. People know that they will not turn you away for not having an appointment, but the constant questions and drama that they bring pushes my wait time further. Since it's not on them, technically, I will not count it as a minus. After all, there's always a time when you are 'that person'. read more

I took my pup here for a check up and the doctors gave her an eye infection in both eyes, she started developing redness and later that night couldn't open her eyes. When I called later that day and told them about it -- I was told that they left some cream (without even looking at her or properly diagnosing what they had gotten into her eye) for me to pick up. that it was it. Nobody ever followed up with me regarding her eyes. Her bloodwork wasn't disclosed to me until much later. The staff is rude and unprofessional and obnoxious. I did not feel safe leaving my best friend here. There are so many great places, find a vet that cares and will do everything to protect your animal!! Reading some of the negative reviews on here, I'm actually getting annoyed. People complaining that after years the vet will no longer provide you with prescription food or medicine your pet needs until you bring them back in for a check up. I have 6 cats and had a dog, Gucci, that we lost to cancer and they all go for yearly checkups because they are suppose to. I'm sure these people complaining take themselves to the doctor at least once a year. Shame on you. Thanks to those yearly checkups we caught my dogs cancer early and was able to enjoy months longer with her. Dr S saw something very faint on Guccis spleen after taking an X-ray and asked us to come back in 90 days. Coming up on the 3 month mark she became quite tired and seemed uncomfortable so we brought her right in. What he had seen had grown and it was cancer and she was even beginning to internally bleed. He told us that we had a choice. We could spend a few thousand dollars on surgery that may or may not give your dog another 6 months at best (That is if the surgery is a success, it is never guaranteed.) The second choice is he can prescribe steroids that will relieve the dogs symptoms and pain and we will have a few weeks with her as her normal self (not sickly or suffering). It's a few weeks give or take because once the dogs system adapts to the steroids they don't don't work as well anymore and symptoms to resume. As a doctor who took an oath he gave us every available option. We then asked him his opinion and he told us that the cancer is aggressive and she will not survive. It's a matter of how much you want to spend to prolong the inevitable and if it's worth all that money for maybe a few months. If he was a "scam artist" I highly doubt he would suggest a simple $20 medicine to make my dog comfortable rather than a $3000 surgery. My mother and I were distraught and we are always given plenty of time to make difficult decisions like this. We didn't want to see Gucci suffer and become lethargic as she had already. Despite him being incredibly busy at times he makes time to sit and talk with us and also calls our home sometimes up until and after 9 pm to discuss my pets(we have cats too). We have been to many vets and I have yet to see one do this... Hell my doctors don't even do that! read more

Will never return. I left this place almost in tears, I was so angry. I called to get my cat with a cold in for antibiotics. I got an appt next day (I would find that this says a lot) which I was very thankful for as I called four other vets that were booked out. The middle aged receptionist is great but can not be any less happy with everyone else I interacted with. Sheynberg is a rude and absolutely disrespectful human. Do not let this money hungry man see your pet! I'm very upset about the way he man handled my cat. I almost scooped her up and left within the first minute of him touching her. He didn't explain what he was doing and when asked was given confrontational answers. There is no professionalism here at all. The initial vet tech before seeing the doctor hardly asked any information and then brought me a quote trying to upsell procedures that did not need to be done. I was left waiting while staff was loudly swearing and socializing in the back room. Things are just not run efficiently. On top of this the medicine I was given was clearly something they mixed up themselves and put into a generic dropper bottle without a label. This is one of the worst experiences I've had with any type of doctor. Everything was going fine until Dr. Moreno entered the room. Upon entering the room there was no initial interaction of hello or introducing herself. She went straight into telling me that she was going to administer a distemper shot with lepto. At which point I responded that I specifically asked for without lepto. She then strongly insisted on administering lepto, pointing to a poster about leptospirosis. I then mentioned how the breeder has not given her any shots with lepto, nor has she ever given her dogs lepto. I didn't feel comfortable with this and told her that she could always speak with the breeder. Wow, that was not what she wanted to hear. She abruptly turned around and started speaking to me as if I was her child, telling me that she was a doctor and she did not speak to breeders. I then got up and walked out telling her I needed to speak to my husband. After speaking to him we both agreed that we no longer felt comfortable taking our puppy to this facility and weren't going to stand for someone speaking to me in that tone. I've worked in healthcare for 15 years and have had to deal with a lot of doctors of various specialties over the years. I don't care who you are and how much schooling you've gone through, no one should speak to someone that way. This is common sense. You want to feel comfortable with your doctor and that is something I surely did not feel right from the start. I hope others don't experience the same thing I did and if they do they should always know it's their choice. read more

We came to Sheepshead Bay Veterinary in February with our dog. Our vet in NJ didn't even respond to us even though it was an urgent situation. We drove to see one of the doctors there because they didn't refuse to see us. Dr. Sheynberg examined our dog and diagnosed him with conjunctivitis. The drops he prescribed not only helped our pet with this condition, but also resolved an issue he's been suffering with for years (due to his condition his skin was always wet under his eyes/face and couldn't heal and the face hair couldn't regrow anymore). After two days our dog could open his eyes and we could see big relief. Thanks to Dr. Sheynberg our dog is again healthy and happy. The most important is that the veterinary group would't say no to your pet when it needed the help. Than you again Dr. Sheynberg!!! read more

We have been using this vet for 8 years now and they are so amazing. My dog has had terrible vet anxiety since we adopted her and they always take time to socialize with her and get her comfortable before proceeding. She has had 2 hematoma surgeries (one on both ears) in the past and they healed amazing and they stayed late just to do her surgery last minute. The facility is always so clean and the staff are so friendly. It's truly a pleasure to go there. Currently they are enforcing strict social distancing, limiting and protection measures for Covid-19 and I feel safe going. I cannot sing my praises enough for this vet! read more

It takes a lot for me to ever write a bad review but this place is horrendous. Maybe it used to be good, but it has changed for the worst. I brought my special needs cat there because we found blood in his urine, I also have another cat so I wasn't 100% sure it was him but 90% sure. A urinalysis takes no more than 1-2 days to come, I haven't heard a word from them on the results. Whether he's fine or not, I should have received a call as soon as they got the results, because if the blood wasn't his, it may be my other cat! I called twice before they closed and they told me that the doctors make calls even after hours (this was said with an attitude)! It's an hour past after hours now and I still haven't heard from them! I'm left here worried sick after spending over $200 on just a visit, a urinalysis and antibiotics, which they only told me to give him after they give me the results! Thank god I decided to start it the same day anyway since my sister in law is a vet tech and suggested we do so! They didn't provide me with any details on what to look out for or what to do, didn't even suggest that I separate the 2 cats. Dr. Moreno seemed like she hated animals and wanted no parts, didn't have any empathy or kindness in her voice! I'm beyond disappointed and they better hope nothing is wrong with either one of my cats because they will be hearing from my lawyers if there is! read more

I trusted dr. Sheinberg for 10 years with both of my dogs. When I brought my miniature dachshund for a checkup before neutering him, 3 vets were doing rectal exam. The last person was in there very deep, and my dog screamed so loud that I still hear it. He started bleeding profusely from his anal canal. They referred me to see a specialist the next day. And they just let me go with a bleeding dog, saying it's ok. I took my babe to VERG in Brooklyn right away. He had an emergency surgery for raptured anal canal. He's been in ICU for 5 days already. They suspect there is trauma to his bladder as well. The vet bill so far is $11,000!!! I'm just praying every day that I'll bring my baby home soon so he could start his recovery. Dr. Sheinberg didn't have a decency to give a courtesy call to find out how his patient is doing. I'm devastated! read more

Very bad experience in this clinic specially with Dr. Sheynberg. He is extremely self centered, unprofessional, egotistical and full of himself. He is very rough. We spent 2 hours in line, 5 minute with assistant and 2 minuts with doctor Sheynberg. Finaly it was almost $200 and no help. read more
