Traveling through on a bike tour. Decided to eat here since it was walking distance from the hotel. The Chicken & Pimento sandwich was fabulous, obviously a home made or modified pimento. The chips were good but we ordered a side of fries also and they were fantastic! My husband had a grilled cheese and he said it was a "man cheese sandwich". Local beers are always a good thing to encounter on travels. Zero Gravity's Conehead has become my husbands favorite IPA! read more

Went here for Easter brunch. The food was excellent. The service a bit slow which I think might be because of the holiday. I was excited about the bloody Mary bar. Lots of great ingredients (bacon!! And lots of great accessories including 2 types of bacon!!! And so much more). Less than 5stars for the bloody Mary mix. I am spoiled by Gladstones in Malibu for what was for me the best...would recommend upgrading the mix. I will come back I realized the bloody Mary mix should be basic, and it's up to me to customize my drink. There were many addons that I missed. Need to experiment more! read more

Do. Not. Bother. First beer was room temperature and a bit flat. Second the same. Apologies given. Then told the tap system was amiss. Next beer was Cold but totally flat and tasted horrible. We actually wondered if the waitstaff did this on purpose because we complained (graciously we believe). Burgers overcooked. Chips over salted. Fish portion small and fried to a crisp. Me and my boyfriend ordered dinner the other day to go and it was not the best. I ordered the food and gave them 40 minutes till the time of pick up and figured that was enough time for a salad with grilled chicken and a fried chicken sandwich but apparently it wasn't enough time. when my boyfriend got there to pick it up at that point it was an hour and it still wasn't ready. he got the food after waiting 20 minutes and then once he got home his sandwich was super soggy and they forgot the cheese that i asked for to be put on the sandwich that they charged us for. he ate 3 bites of the sandwich and had to toss it because it was not that great at all. The way the sandwich looked when he brought it home was like it was ready when he got there but they just forgot to give it to him and instead they let it sit there for a while. We are just not impressed at all with this place and don't think we will be going back there any time soon. read more

Really solid choice in the middle of Shelburne. We are staying nearby, so we've been a few times. Whether you go to the bar for a drink and app, or sit down for dinner, can't go wrong. Great pub-like food with a fancier flare, there's also healthy options when you want to go light (like bowls or a beet-burger). Nice beer selection and specials. The only drawback is the menu is kind of small, not a ton of variety for dinner options. Also, can be busy in the evenings - a testament to the local popularity! read more

Been here twice and both times have had some highs and lows. Overall, great place to go to not have to worry about a wait. We had a group of 8 and we were seated right away. The atmosphere is nice and for a small place, was not overly loud. Our waitress was great and good about keeping our drinks full. Slow on paying the bill though. Food order was the beef brisket, ribs, Mac and cheese, chicken and biscuits and fries. Those who had the brisket loved it. Beef was very tender and wonderful flavor. The beans were the low point of the meal. They were way undercooked and crunchy. The chicken and biscuits were good and the Mac and cheese was very large for the price. The ribs are not good. They are rubbery and lack flavor. This menu item needs to be reworked. Overall we had a great time but there are small details to each meal that could made this place better. read more

My wife and I went on a last minute trip up to Burlington yesterday to spend some time shopping and eating. After a cold night on Church Street we were driving out of town and trying to decide where to eat after many smaller establishments had shut down. On a whim, we decided to try the Shelburne Tap House and we weren't disappointed! I have to admit, it was hard to see the restaurant from the road because it's located in a small plaza and the sign was covered by ice. Luckily we found it, parked, and went in. We were met by the door by a kind gentleman and promptly sat down at our booth. The interior is a typical bar scene but not dirty or overcrowded like some other sports bars / dives. We sat at a nicely sized booth and ordered some drinks. They have a decent beer/wine selection and everything tasted great. After sitting for a few minutes, my wife and I ordered both the appetizers and our entrees. We were both pleased by the subtle variety the restaurant had both with original dishes and classic bar fare. I was surprised to see a tuna poke bowl on the menu, so I ordered that as my appetizer (I was dying for some fresh fish!), and as you could tell by my previous statement I ordered the fish 'n' chips for my entree. My wife had decided to try the cauliflower "wings" as her appetizer (I snuck one or two as well) and as her entree she ordered the Montreal steak and poutine. The "wings" came out first and they were just okay in my opinion. We both noted that we are used to the cauliflower "wings" being breaded and fried but instead they decided to fry/cook the cauliflower as whole florets and presented them as such with the house buffalo sauce slathered over top. The taste and presentation on this dish were both a 6/10. My appetizer came out with my entree and my wife's entree. I'm not sure if this was in error by the waiter or if he assumed I wanted it as an entree as well. It's nothing I'm holding against the restaurant but I've seen other reviews saying the same so I figured I would mention it. I personally didn't mind. When the entrees arrived they looked and smelled delicious! The poke bowl was really beautifully arranged and smelled really fresh as did the fish 'n' chips. My wife's Montreal steak poutine looked really appetizing as well. We both dug in and were really taken back - the food was fresh, tasty, and very satisfying. The only complaint I had with my entree is that the breading on the fish 'n' chips had a hard time staying on. It was very crispy though. I would rate my poke bowl as 9/10 for both presentation and taste and my fish 'n' chips would be a 6/10 for presentation and 7/10 for taste. If I could guess, I'd say my wife would rate hers 8/10 for both presentation and flavor by the way she was talking about it afterwards. We had a great dinner with great service. We were both really happy - and full - when we left. I would, without a doubt, go back and get that poke bowl again. The fish 'n' chips would only be a repeat dish if they improved the quality of the breading. My wife would also attest to her entree as being really, really good. This location has been a tough one for the previous establishments that have occupied this spot. Will this place be jinxed as well? I was eager to try it after the recommendation of a friend because I always want to help a neighborhood place make a go of it. Maybe the chef/owner/operated place would be the right combination to make this iteration a winner. The first 2 times in we were pleased. To be fair, our expectations were quite low because of our experience with the failed offerings that preceded this Tap House, but we came away with a positive experience, enjoying the food and service in a relatively quite atmosphere. The 3rd time we were in - not so much. Our server was inept. To whit, she brought me a martini and, without provocation said, "the drink only looks small because it's in a big glass." Huh? It wasn't presented in a birdbath. The drink was a typical conical vessel known as a martini glass. Strike one. Then, I tried to enjoy my dwarf-martini only to notice they must have forgotten to add the gin. Blech - strike two! When my entree arrived (concurrent with my appetizer I might add) it was cold. I had their signature dish, the brisket, and it was cold! Strike three, and I'm outta there. Now, you might say, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Well, this isn't a Meat Loaf song, and my money and I won't soon be parted again at this place. There are too many other fine options up and down Shelburne Road that I would go to first. If you go, I hope for your sake, and that of the restaurant, that you will fare better. As for me, once bitten, twice shy. read more

The staff was very friendly and attentive, and the food was very good (nice spice level on the shrimp-n-grits!). Draft Fiddlehead IPA was great. Only thing I will say is that we were seated near the front window and it was cold, so maybe a heating element there would help. read more

We were really excited to try this new place and I'll put it out there-it's still new, so it could get better? Not too busy, plenty of seating. Nice location. However, with that being said. When we asked our waitress if we should have the pulled pork or the brisket, she responded she hadn't had either and really doesn't like pulled pork so order the brisket. Let's just say that was a bad start as we'd hope ALL the staff unless they started that day have tasted the whole menu (unless allergic, vegetarian, etc.). We ended up ordering a brisket and ribs. Food came quickly and looked nice, however the taste was very blah. The mac and cheese side was boring but good and plain for our 10 month daughter. As a cole slaw lover I was very disappointed in the flavor and when we shared with the waitress that is was so-so, her response was "Everyone makes cole slaw different." WHAT??!?! You don't say?!?!?!? The brisket was tender and nice. It wasn't bad but not awesome either. The ribs my husband have a "1" on a scale of 1-10. We were both very bummed this place wasn't a hit as there isn't much BBQ in the area and it's kinda sad that Dicky's a franchise in Plattsburgh is the best in the area. Other feedback: -Our water was never filled up -We had to ask for a plate for the rib bones -We had to ask for wet wipes for the ribs (didn't come out with ribs) -We were never asked if our daughter needed anything or if we needed anything for her i.e. cup of water, napkins What a bummer. We were there .last night for a birthday party for our daughter, her spouse and their 4 year old. We could not have selected a better. Our waitress was personable and engaged us in helping the 4 year old to order. We dined for two hours if you can imagine. Fabulous appetizers. Cauliflower hot wings was a surprise and delicious, yummy nachos, big huge pretzel sticks, deep fried mushrooms. We had it all and didn't need dinner but we did anyway. Fabulous again huge fish fry, huge fried chicken sandwich, hamburgs supreme, a pasta special with a beef rib, mushroom and gravy and of course me with my aloha poke bowl. It was so good. I was so glad I ordered it. Check the menu for everything that is in it. Only one thing was a problem and the entire staff and owner solved it. We stopped here for takeout. We had wings, burgers, mushroom fries, and Caesar salad. We had Buffalo and salt & vinegar wings. Both wing orders smelled terrible. The salt & vinegar (our favorite) rub was far too salty to eat. The breaded mushroom fries were also too salty. Then they forgot the Caesar salad dressings. The one takeaway from this place is they really know how to ruin food. We will not be eating here again. read more

Just left the Tap House and had another great meal. The atmosphere is very nice, staff is attentive and the food was very, very good. The specials menu even includes drink specials. Fine, but not worth the price point. And you'd think a place that calls itself a "tap house" would have more than half a dozen taps? (4 pales/IPA's; one porter; one lager.) Soup of the day this night was Turkey Chorizo Chili; it was mostly tomatoes, with some ground meat and no chorizo flavor. The wing special was Salt & Vinegar. The wings were piping hot and crispy, but vinegar is a very subtle taste, and I regretted not getting something spicy. Shrimp & grits/polenta was very tasty and spiced right, with plenty of Andouille. I recommend getting a side dish as a break from the monotony, extra grits/polenta if possible - everything on the plate was so saturated with sauce, it was hard to find palate relief. Wine, cider, & full bar in addition to beers. Service was great. Two beers, and the three dishes named above, came to over $70 with tip. Just not feeling the quality was there. read more

We waited over an hour for our food with not one SINGLE check in to see how we were doing or to say that (perhaps?) our food was on its way. It's a small place. Should be easy to make eye contact at least, or check in, apologize for the delay, maybe comp a drink-SOMETHING! Customer service is so basic. Check in, be nice. That easy. (I did wind up tipping our hostess because she was running all around busing, and putting out what I assume was a fire at every table). The one star is solely reserved for her. read more

Under new ownership - food is overpriced, menu items leave much to be desired, food quality is all over the place, and service is slow. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this place as a good neighborhood eatery. What a great find! I just ate here for the first time after seeing a recommendation on Facebook from a friend who is in the restaurant business. The food was excellent!! I had the sirloin tips....they were as lean and tender as a filet! Mashed potatoes and gravy were as good as any i have had and the roasted vegetables, (green beans, Brussel sprouts, broccoli) were done to perfection. Tender crisp and caramelized beautifully. My husband had the beef stroganoff and was just as impressed. The atmosphere is casual and cozy, the service was very good. We will definitely be back! read more

The taphouse is right up the street from my house so it's very easy to stop in. I was a little disappointed in the beer selection especially it being called the tap house. They had no beers from the Alchemist, also there were other local beers that they do not have on tap that should be. Such as frost out of hinesburg. Anyway. Other than that it wasn't bad read more
