Shelby Donuts is local gem. We love the diner feel and service is good. Food is prompt whether dining in or take out. They have a very small selection of unbearably dry donuts. They are also over priced. I got one round glazed donut and a cinnamon roll with maple frosting. My husband Ty, 93 years old knows every 4 star donut shops in the tri-county area. One of his favorites is Shelby Donuts. April 10 he dropped me off at Beaumont Troy to have a blood test and said he was going to get coffee. He had his donut & coffee at Shelby Donuts. it was 2:00pm and they were closing. He left the shop and discovered he did not have the key to the car I did. The lovely lady who was cleaning up saw that he was having a problem unlocked the shop and ask if he needed help. She called her husband and the two of them took my husband to Beaumont Troy to pick up me his 86 year old wife. Not bad. Didn't know about this place until we drove by, the custard filled is very good, the donut has great texture, not too fluffy not too dense and the custard is on point, i would of like the chocolate glaze a little bit more on the milk chocolate side, but still very good! I can't get over the price frist off. For two cokes, one omelet and a plate of potato pancakes it costed us over 40 bucks. The food was absolutely unacceptable. My omelet had egg shells in it, to the point that every bite was crunchy. My hasbrowns were soaked in faze which is a artificial butter. Very unhealthy. Potato pancakes were tiny and overdone. Mite as well call them potato chips at that point. The eggs had turned. Most definitely not fresh. If the food being gross wasn't enough. Let's talk about the dirty cups that had grease on them which then coded the top of our pops. The silverware had finger pints all over them. Last but not least. When the server brought our plates over to our table she had her thumb literally in my omelet and put her finger in my mates coke to swirls his straw around for him. My husband and I love donuts, a little too much. We live nearby so we decided to give this place a try rather than driving to Knapp's donuts. Their donuts aren't spectacular but good enough that I would rather go here than anywhere else since it's conveniently close. The donuts are still much better than the chain donut shops but still not as good as knapps or doms donuts. We have gotten their paczki as well and they are delicious with some very interesting flavors. While picking up some donuts for breakfast my husband decided to order some food as well. We shared a western omelet and biscuits and gravy. Half a dozen donuts and breakfast costs roughly $20 which isn't bad at all. The western omelet was nice a fluffy with lots of pieces of ham and vegetables. The biscuits and gravy was delicious. I will definitely return for their breakfast and donuts. read more

The donuts seemed to be Atleast two days old very dry no fluff they charge 18.99 for a dozen of donuts and 9 for a half dozen so you save zero money getting a dozen it's cheaper to get less they have no card minimum they charge you extra on card no matter what and the lady at the register explained it was becuase they have to pay for the card machine so they make the customers pay I don't think they understand everyone pays for there care systems in restaurants and no one else charges they also stacked my donuts on top of each other in a small box instead of using a larger box so now my blueberry donuts are in top of my chocolate frosted donuts and don't get me stared on thrre coffee they have the same machines speedway has and charge as if is Starbucks DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE your better off getting Dunkin' Donuts or Tim hortons!!!! read more

I really love this little place. My wife and I have been coming to this spot for a few years now and the quality of the food, cleanliness of the restaurant and service are always great. We really enjoy coming for breakfast on the weekends. All of the regulars from the surrounding neighborhoods come and hang out at the bar. The walls are decorated with sports memorabilia, some older toys and other great pictures. I really like the feel of this place. The food is made by a short order cook in the back. They serve mostly breakfast and lunch stuff considering they are open around 4am and close after lunch. I really enjoy the food here. The 'Egg in a Hole' is one of my favorites. They serve an over-easy egg in the middle of a piece of toast (they cut a hole in the toast to fit the egg in). They throw some shredded cheese on top and serve it with some delicious sausage gravy. It really is great. The place has "Donuts" in its name...so how are the doughnuts? I'm gonna tell you: the doughnuts are so good that Chief Wiggum would give up eating at Lard Lad Donuts and fill up here when he got a hankering for delicious fried dough treats. I was told that the doughnuts are homemade in a nearby kitchen and delivered to this place every morning. All of the doughnuts I have tried have been superb. The blueberry frycake and the dutch strawberry are my top two. My son loves the chocolate doughnuts and my wife's fave is the apple fritter. Shelby Donuts has that small town appeal with an incredibly friendly staff as well as awesome food. Just be warned, since they do open pretty early, make sure you get a head start on your day if you want those delectable doughnuts. If you show up around 9am, there won't be much left to choose from. I used to go here all the time, but my two favorite waitresses stopped working there (Shelby and Angel) and I became bothered by the fact that "the doctors" is on TV with volume everyday.
