The only thing this Shell station has going for it is the gas, and thankfully, that still works. But aside from filling up your tank, I would not count on much else at this location. This is one of those Loop Neighborhood Market spots, and I usually stop at these all over the Bay Area for three reasons: gas, fountain diet soda, and a car wash. I even subscribe to both the drinks and the washes. But here, only one of the three ever seems to happen. You get your gas, and then you get out. Let's talk about the car wash. As others have mentioned, they rarely seem to have soap in the system. It finally happened to me a couple of times too. You wait in line, roll in, and get what feels like a polite splash of water. It is less of a car wash and more like your car got caught in a light drizzle. Then there is the soda fountain. For the last four months, every time I stop by, usually once a week, it is always out of order. On the third month, I kindly asked if they could please fix it, and the response I got was, "Sorry, I cannot help you with that." So now I just walk out with sad, empty hands and a subscription that feels more like a monthly donation. To be fair, the staff inside are friendly, and I know it is not their fault. But it really feels like management gave up a long time ago. Honestly, this place might need a time-out from being part of the Loop Neighborhood network until things are sorted out. So if you are here just for gas, you are good to go. If you are here for anything else, lower your expectations and maybe bring your own soap and soda just in case. read more

This isn't a traditional moving track car wash, u follow the instructions on pulling in - a movable machine goes around the vehicle. No attendant at the front to lead you or pre-spray your car, receipt printing machine not working. I bought the most expensive procedure ($16.99) and left with my car looking worse - residue from the machine, watermarks from inadequate drying (in the right position, followed the lights). Their prices is generally lower than most competitors around in the SF area. The grounds are a bit on the grimy side with random pool of liquid , trash on top or around the gas pump. Two of the pump wasn't working so I had to move my car twice: the definition of Goldie Locke Syndrome. Oddly enough my Apple Pay didn't work despite they've updated the hardware. So it's either credit card or paid inside the convenient store. The store is a bit cramp but it has all your to-go options ready. The staff is usually helpful. My friend and I were driving an hour and a half to SF last night when we got a flat tire. We stopped here to refill her tire with air but had no clue what we were doing. One of the employees kindly helped us out and refilled the tire for us (in the middle of a storm too). We forgot to get his name, but this happened on 11/22/24 around 8:30pm. BE CARE OF THE CAR WASH, the car wash machine damaged my auto body during the wash, and the giant female manager said how you prove it is not damaged before entering the car wash, so rude and not respectful, the damage is brand new with paint damage on it. RATING BASED OFF OF VACUUM: Waking up to the sound of an alarm is rarely ideal, especially when I didn't set one. So one day when I woke up to see my car broken into, I was especially shocked and had no idea how to deal with the problem. My back windshield had been shattered and the officer that helped me out with my problem suggested that I go to this Shell! The workers were kind enough to tell me that the vacuum at this location can indeed vacuum up shards of glass. It ended up being pricier than I expected but it worked really well! They don't have any covers for the windows though, contrary to belief, so if you're driving afterwards make sure you get all the pieces so none are flying around. read more

Literally was told by the employee, who was smoking a cigarette outside, that he couldn't open the doors for me to pay for gas because it was closed because he was on his lunch. The pumps rarely work and most times you have to wait in a long line to pay. The whole place looks like it's falling down.

Open 24 hours. Really? No, not really. I went here at about 10:30PM and a weirdo, shaggy headed cashier wearing sunglasses informed me they just closed 30 minutes ago. I asked him what's he still doing there? Why are the lights still on? No reply. I went back to the pump thinking I might insert my credit card into the pump to pay for my gas. The screen was already shattered by a blunt force impact - unusable. I looked ahead to the nearest pump and noticed the pump hose lying neglected on the ground. This entire event was witnessed by a smiling street person wheeling himself around in his wheelchair. As far as I can tell, this gas station is just a well lighted place for street people to beg for change. Who knows what the cashier does. Consistently poor in all categories. But the substandard and out of step with the quality of other Shell Store locations is the car wash. Management and staff are fully aware that neither of the top two tier price points of the wash do not complete thier cycle. Therefore, Management and staff knowingly sell a service they do not provide -- for nearly a year now. Complaints bring only language barriers where non had existed before. Beware! This gas station & car wash are terrible. The credit card reader doesn't work most of the time. The car wash is pathetic. The air "dryer" hasn't worked at all well for over a year. Leaves water spots all over the car. Gave it another try today, but same sad story. When I tried to explain what happened to the manager, he dismissed my complaint, telling me I must have moved the car during the wash, that basically it was my fault. On a second visit to this station, yet again the pump card reader didn't work - after repeated "please re-insert your card" and trying two cards, I gave up, and went to the attendant to leave my card for a fill-up. This is my go to for gas because it near my office in Soma, has a rewards program, and the best feature is the car wash which is not easy to find in SF. I never seem to have to wait although certain hours can find the pumps quite crowded. You may be asked for spare change from some folks, but they're all harmless and often ask to clean my windshield. read more

I sometimes visit this station because it's one of the only automatic car washes in the city. That's the only reason for any stars. Once again today multiples pumps arenot working, today I had to try three stations before I could fill my tank. Calls to an attendant were not answered. Warning - the drive thru car wash does not properly work and will not rinse the harsh soap off your vehicle! Protect your car. Even after pointing out the two service attendants and station manager (Cesar) that the rinse feature is broken, they denied anything was wrong with their car wash and they all told me it was my fault because I moved my car when the green light flashed to move through the dry cycle. I've never experienced such a lack of compassion and decency after requesting to rinse the soap off my new SUV. They were just awful. They even have a camera in the car wash area recording everyone who drives through. After watching the footage they claimed I drove through too fast. WHAT? Camera aside - the soap does not get rinsed off. THE RINSE FEATURE OF THE CAR WASH IS BROKEN (poorly timed out) AND THEY HAVE NOT INTEREST TO FIX IT EVEN AFTER SHOWING THEM ALL THE SOAP ON MY CAR. Their lobby is very clean, their shelves are always fully stocked, their restrooms are fully functioning, but their customer service skills and competency are severely lacking. I asked the man behind the counter about the differences between two rewards programs, and instead of him making an attempt to answer my questions, he rudely and openly told me that the information was there on the back of the pamphlet if I cared to look.
