I actually enjoy coming here but this particular time everything seem to be rushed. I arrived home I was missing my french fries and hush puppies. My wife and my children actually wanted the french fries and hush puppies. I paid $51.95 for the VIP expecting to get everything that was apart of the platter. My wife called to see about the missing food because we stay a pretty nice distance from the restaurant. It was as if we made the mistake I didn't like that at all. I really dislike when you have to actually have check your food in front of a host at a restaurant. I expected better service from the company. My wife called to speak with Tanner and it wasn't any apologize it was come back and we'll give you the fries and hush puppies. I'll like for corporate to know about this issue. Bread pudding is bland & nothing to write home about. Gelato (which is served with it) was okay but such a small serving (was put in a condiment sized container) couldn't enjoy for long. Shrimp and Crawfish good as always! We've learned to just grab a seat at the bar so we don't have to worry about the long wait they tell you when coming in. My family and I went to celebrate my niece birthday Saturday, 11/16. We had a party of 16 and only one server. This place was very understaffed. To start off the wait was 50 minutes to an hour, which we didn't complain as much because we went to the bar to wait. The bartender Cici was very friendly but she didn't come to serve us until after 20 minutes of just sitting and looking for help. The service was not prompt at all. It took 10 minutes to get a drink after waiting 20 minutes to be served. It was hard to order additional drinks because the bartender was never around. She came back and apologize and mentioned she was serving a large party. Again there was only one bartender making drinks and serving food on a Saturday evening....not good at all! Once we finally got to our table, the service was not better. We had only one waitress for our large party. Trisha tried her best but the service was slow. We would get drinks and straws would come 15 minutes later. We ordered an appetizer and the plates came much later and our food was cold by that time. Drinks were slow again making the night not very enjoyable. Our food was ok but we spent $176 and I feel like service was 2 out of 5 stars. The food is over priced. I got the Boss which comes with 2 pieces is fish and 8 shrimp and it was $27.99. I could have gone to Pappadeux's for less, with better drinks and service. Not a fan. Don't plan to go back. The boiled pots are deliciously flavorful and juicy. Get the kitchen sink flavor, which is a great combination of all the flavors. There is plenty of food in a pot and enough to share. The food was greasy and tasteless. The sauces have flavor, but it does not make it into the boiled seafood. Honestly... for the PRICE & the WAIT, this was a different experience. Maybe a good spot for appetizers and the sweet tea. The shrimp was okay but the seasoning hadn't had a chance to really get in there good enough. I put my order in and added crawfish and they ended up running out . Unfriendly, aloof manager said that is their "normal serving size" and refused to refund my money. I donated the "food" back to them and left. It's amazing for a chain restaurant this is the type of great you see in the family owned places. You get a huge amount of food in the boil and it taste so so good. We went right after a rodeo and had seafood at around 11. This is the only place you can do that this. You get down and dirty so don't wear anything nice. Now onto the food: The alligator tenders and calamari were hot and delicious. The catfish was bland, perhaps they should use the same seasoning that they use for the tenders and calamari. My only complaint is that the sauce was really thick and salty and I didn't really care for all of that, so next time I'll ask for it light. I found myself brushing off the excess. The hush puppies were good, as was the sausage. I was filled up and only took some calamari home. My waitress was also bartending so she neglected us a little bit when we needed something and she forgot my hush puppies so I had to wait for them but they came out quickly when I bought it to her attention. I really like the hand washing station to clean your hands off after eating but even after two passes, my fingers still smelled a little fishy. But it does most of the dirty work for you. The only place i really go to for a seafood boil. They ar every quick and it's very close to me. I've eaten here a total of 3 times so far and the only time I wasn't please was when I got the fried shrimp and fries. The shrimp wasn't seasoned enough for me and I personally didn't care for the fries. But the seafood boils Are very good ! So flavorful and they give you a good amount of shrimp. First let me say, I love Shell Shack! I love their kitchen sink seasoning (lemon pepper, cajun, garlic) all mixed with medium spice. The seafood is always on point. Fried or boiled! I took 1 stars off because of the new policy for parties of 6 or more! I went for a birthday lunch with a group and was charged the 20% extra service charge and that is NOT for gratuity. You must pay the 20% service charge and tip on top of that. Server made sure to inform the table before ordering though which was really nice. But personally I think that is ridiculous.
