My son had to come several times for retainer fitting because they couldn't get the mold just right (he was gagging and close to vomiting); and they also booked and confirm appts for me they later say were done in error. Couldn't they have informed me before I pulled my son from school, showed up, and sat in the waiting room? More unnecessary visits than I'd like!

She then remembered the stellar orthodontic work she had seen on another patient and recommended Dr. So who was closer to our home. As soon as we walked in to the office I was a happy parent. The staff has always been super welcoming and Saral the office manager, is the absolute best (explains what your cost will be and happily answers questions for you). Have I mentioned how fantastic Dr. So is? Well, let me share. My oldest son has been a patient for quite a while (his teeth needed a lot of work) and then my youngest son started his treatment so we've been patients for over 5 years! Dr. So is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and honest. Most importantly, my boys have always felt at ease going in for appointments and have never complained. I highly recommend Dr. So!!!

From the very first consultation, we felt confident in our choice. Dr. Koo was extremely thorough, and the treatment coordinator took the time to explain all of the different payment plans and options in detail, which made the process much less stressful. Charlotte was nervous about getting braces, but the entire dental team has been so kind, patient, and caring with her that she quickly felt at ease. Scheduling appointments has also been a breeze--I never have to worry about timing or conflicts with my own schedule. Overall, Tri-Valley Orthodontics has made what could have been a stressful experience into a very positive one. I'm grateful for the professional care and warm environment they provide. Highly recommend!

I previously had some pretty traumatic experiences from a prior dental experience at another dentistry, and I knew a lot of my anxiety was coming from that specific experience along with a few sensory sensitivities I had. Thankfully, my journey here has been amazing, and such a healing journey emotionally and physically! Initially I was going to need a root canal but after seeing that there was a more conservative route we can take to preserve my tooth, a different plan was recommended for me. I also got 2 silver fillings replaced where they had cracked & needed adjustment.I love the subtle cosmetic enhancement it gives my smile while also protecting my teeth. From red light therapy to ozone injections, I was impressed with how much 1:1 attention, care, and intentionality went into my health plan. They don't see you as a one size fits all, they take their time to understand the problem and see what the options are. Their transparency, honesty, and genuine patient care manner was such a breath of fresh air. my husband and I were relieved we found a dental provider who listened & took the time to give us a thorough understanding of what our teeth needed. Even when I mentioned I was nervous, Dr. Mark took the time to ask me what made me nervous, gave me reassurance before starting any work and that alone helped me leave feeling lighter. For my sensory sensitivities, I did bring my headphones to listen to music but they also gave the cutest menu where you can select items to make you more comfortable so I chose a lap pillow lol. All of the assistants were amazing & so sweet, very professional & kind. The receptionists were also very professional, very thorough explaining invoices & procedures. Office is very clean, they made my crown the same day-amazing! There is a parking lot with plenty of space. Great location too, easy to find. Overall, I'm happy we chose Castro valley family dentistry for our dental needs so if you're looking for a new dentist in the east bay area then check them out.

I cannot overstate how much I appreciate the care I've received from John and Jeannie. In the past several years, while living out of state, I noticed a significant drop in the quality of dental care--when I could even find a dentist who accepted my insurance and was taking new patients. Many dentists complained about my insurance plan, saying they planned to drop it because it no longer paid enough, or they were relocating their practices to states with better reimbursement rates. This was with one of the big two carriers. The care I received from those other dentists often felt rushed, like they were just checking boxes to bill my insurance, rather than truly caring about my oral health. At my last visit to Castro Valley Family Dentistry, John took the time to explain that he had made the difficult decision to no longer be in-network with my insurance provider. He said he hoped I would continue to be a patient. I told him I wouldn't go anywhere else unless I absolutely had to. Honestly, it didn't matter to me--even if I had to pay 100% out of pocket (thankfully, the difference is only about 10% between in-network and out-of-network). I recognize that not everyone is in a financial position to make that choice, and it's a privilege to be able to decide where to spend your healthcare dollars. But for me, continuing to be a patient here--where I know they genuinely care and the quality of care is far beyond anything I've experienced elsewhere--is worth every penny.
