Solid Sheng Kee spot though on the smaller side. I usually go late so not too many options but I get my breakfast breads here! They accept card for +$10 and also gave me a bag for all my goodies. Quick service and yummy pastries. The chicken pie was really good!

Absolutely love this bakery! So many selections from sweet pastries, savory pastries, sandwiches, cakes, this place has it all! Wonderful service every time I come in here! Inexpensive bakery and delicious

My daughter bought some tea eggs for us yesterday. It turned out it's horrible. It was not ready and the store should have sold them.

Walnut Cookie and Mochi Pastry with green tea - September 2025

This store have less selections than the other Sheng Kee Bakery stores. I was looking for the Chocolate Cream Bun but was told that they never have that. Other stores do have it. I do want to say that the lady cashier is not friendly at all. She wears a face mask so we don't know how she looks like. She just stares at you. I would give more stars for my review if she was nicer. Could pay with a credit card for $10 or more in purchase. We like their plain HK Pineapple Bun $2.09 each. It has a good chew to it and not dry. The Red Bean Bun $2.19 each is good but the bread itself is very thin. It does have a good amount of red bean filling. Walnut Cookie is good and not too sweet which we like. Mochi Pastry with green tea is good and not sweet but the green tea has a bit of a floral taste. Would definitely come back for more HK Pineapple Buns.

$5 for this mooncake. Airpods case for scale. It wasn't bad, but the service was terrible. The bakery was empty but I could hardly get anyone's attention to check out.

I was looking for pastries and this was the closest bakery to me at that time. This is located to the right of Marina Supermarket. It is self serve so grab a tray and start loading which pastry/bun you want. I went around 2:30pm and there were still a good selection available. I ordered: - 1 pineapple red bean: 4/5 - red bean was good and pasty - 1 pineapple custard: 3/5 - custard was okay, nothing special could've skipped on this one - 1 pineapple taro: 2/5 - might've been spoiled because the taro tasted a bit sour, ended up tossing it - 1 purple romance (taro): 4/5 - this taro bun was much better then the pineapple taro, tasted fresh The four buns came out to $10.19 - not overly priced. The only downside was most of the buns were flattened on the top because they were pretty much tossed in/stacked.

Solid Sheng Kee branch that offers a lot of the usual Sheng Kee Chinese bakery staples! Grew up stopping by here for hot dog buns and sandwiches. On my most recent visit, I came here because I had a sudden craving for red bean buns. Sheng Kee always hits the spot when I need them to! So glad to see this location is here after all these years.

I had a much better experience here on my second visit. I was able to come by on a Friday at about 5pm. There was only a few customers, and I was able to walk around & see everything. Also, the clerk was much more friendly and outgoing. I was able to get some egg custard tarts, mini cheese cakes, curry beef turnover, and chocolate cream roll cake. So, I'm raising my score to 4-stars. It's still a small bakery as compared to locations like Union City and Milpitas.

I stumbled upon this place after checking out the Marina Market during my visit to San Mateo, and I'm glad that I did. Of the pastries that I tried, they were quite good. I can't comment on the service cause it's a self-serve place, and I also didn't have any questions for the workers. Plenty of parking available, which was a plus for me. Pastries: Pineapple Danish ($2.15): 5/5 Basically the same as a bolo bao/pineapple bun, but I much preferred this version because Danish pastries use laminated dough so you get all the fluffy layers in the dough. Purple Romance ($2.99): 5/5 I'm not a big fan of taro, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this pastry. The taro paste was rich, soft, and smooth. The dough part wasn't dry either. Pork Sung Puff ($2.99): 2/5 This was a letdown for me. It was so bloody dry! Both the filling and the dough were dry. There was only a thin layer of puff pastry; the rest of the dough was regular bread dough. After popping it in the microwave for ~7 seconds, I was able to somewhat enjoy it. Would not get it again. Lava Taro Puff ($3.85): 5/5 Again, not a big taro fan, but I'm a sucker for egg lava pastries/buns (wished they had liu sha baos here), so I was excited to try this. The taro paste was rich and soft like the one in purple romance. I was afraid the yolk part was going to be egg custard. But it was indeed lava-like, albeit a tad bit too thick in consistency. It even tasted better after microwaving for 3 seconds. I loved the layers of the dough as well. This was my favorite pastry from here; however, it is overpriced, given how small it is. Green Bean Puff ($3.75): 3/5 The green bean paste tasted good, but it was pretty dry. Even after microwaving it, the filling was still a disappointment. The only thing I liked was the flaky layers of the outside. Would not get it again.

There's seating inside and outdoors. It looks linked to an actual kitchen - guessing that's why it's called Kitchentown. Taste testing done on site in addition to production? If so, that's efficient! The food looked yummy! Ordered: Egg-tine 7/10 The black sesame seeds were good but then the sunflower seeds adding with the cheese in the center, uhh, it was ok. I took off the center - see pic of actual product with the center in tact. That made it taste better. The croissant was my fave part - crispy yet flaky and oh so soft in the middle. Jamon fromage 10/10 Basically, a ham n cheese croissant. This was delish. Unsure if you've eaten at Croissante; but, their jamon fromage isn't that great compared to this. Theirs has mayo, which completely throws off the taste for me. In any case, this was a success. Latte 3/10 Way too milky and not enough flavor.

Food: Passion fruit kouign amann - okay, nice light passion fruit curd in the center with a balanced sweetness and mild acidity, lamination was there but pastry ate a bit dry and bread not much buttery flavor Pistachio Chocolate Croissant - okay, bakery took a chocolate croissant split open and added pistachios creme and a pistachio topping and lightly twice baked, also light on the butter, chocolate flavor was good, pistachio filling wish the frangipane was baked a bit more and blend in more with the chocolate Service was good, quick efficient and friendly. Order pastries at the counter, they ring you up at the register and provided utensils for dine in which was a nice touch. Water was self serve, bathrooms are available in the bakery. Overall pastries were okay, felt a bit stale and flat in comparison to other bakeries in SF. If you like a slight leaner pastry this might be for you. Appreciate the variety available, no line and ample space and seating make this a good option for a snack and getting some work done. Might be an off day so would consider revisit.

She was definitely a drive from San Jose to San Mateo but well worth it. When you pull up to her house, it may be difficult to find parking as other customers are picking up-- I ended up waiting for 1 person to pull out of her driveway so that I could park. The street is pretty packed with cars. Can I first say what a pleasure she is in person? Claire is super sweet and she's the reason I love supporting small business. We ordered the Mocha Crunch cake. Current prices are $50 for an 8". It's cash only so be prepared. The cake itself is on the light side (not as light as Asian cakes but I wouldn't call it dense either). Unlike some other reviewers that found it dry-- I highly disagree as it was not the most moist cake I've ever tried-- But it wasn't dry either. It was right in between and good enough for us. The Mocha flavor was lightly infused in the frosting and filling. It wasn't super overpowering but it was definitely there. The crunch topping was perfect and so unique. The only other place I've tried a crunch topping is in a latte from Kamurocho in Pleasanton. They have a "Honeycomb Latte" that is amazing. We served half the cake at one gathering and we ended up bringing the leftovers to another gathering. The cake was devoured. If you haven't tried Claire's Crunch Cake's yet, do yourself a favor and support a small business and meet the sweetest woman.

We had a party with 10 people and we couldn't finish the cake! The crunch was really good and special, the cake itself doesn't really present the mocha flavor, as a result, after a few bites, the cake became too sweet. We were all hoping the bitterness from the mocha coffee flavor can balance out the crunch but we were disappointed. Interestingly, we then moved onto eating a chocolate cake from Marvel Cake and the chocolate was able to balance out the sweetness and cleansed our pallet a bit. We all felt that a cup of coffee would be perfect with this cake. The cake inside could also be a bit more moist. So all in all, the crunch got the thumbs up but the overall cake not so much.

Super funny that the couple behind me commented that they go here all the time and there's never a line. After about a 40 minute wait, I got to the cashier at around 10:20am. Half the pastries like the ube brioche were already out so I opted for just the lattes. I played it safe and got the Tahitian vanilla latte. I will say that it's good quality coffee. Didn't need to add sugar. It didn't come super hot though so as I took it away, I downed it pretty fast! I got my mom and aunt the ice latte version of the black sesame and the brown sugar. Sounds like both were good as well. The black sesame wasn't sweet, which was to my aunt's liking. Inside, it's very clean and not crowded. What helped is that there is a sign that tells the people in line that only 6 people at a time should line up inside. If I have the time, I'd line back up. 4.5/5 stars, but I'll round up.

There was a sign that said only 6 ppl could wait inside to order, but I already counted 8 so figured they weren't enforcing it yet. Unfortunately, right when it was my turn to order, they ran out of beans and had to dial in a new batch. That alone added at least 30-40 minutes between waiting to order, and waiting for the coffee to come out. We got the caramel miso latte and the black sesame latte with an ube brioche. Can't say I loved either latte, nor the brioche. Everything was just decent. I was more impressed with how many ppl came here! I did enjoy seeing the baristas at work though. I'd say if you got here at even 850am, be prepared for a long wait. Can be even longer depending on whether they need to dial in new beans. Definitely not a good place to get a quick coffee before work.

I'm also not a huge frosting person, and I believe the cream was buttercream, which was probably the biggest downside for me. It wasn't overly sweet, but the consistency was just too thick for both my husband and me. I even tried leaving it out for over an hour to see if it would soften, but it remained dense. I do wish there were more fruit in the filling. It was mainly cream and a few berries. We sliced the cake on Saturday, and by Monday the exposed part of the cake from where it was cut had become pretty dry. I ended up cutting off the dry outer layer, but thankfully the inside was still moist, so I was able to enjoy the rest of the cake. Ordering through Square was easy. I ordered the 4-inch cake with a marble design, matcha cake, strawberry cream, and strawberries. One thing to note is that if you order the 4-inch cake, there wasn't a section to add custom text. You'll need to email or call them with your order number to let them know what you want written on the cake. Overall, the highlight of the cake was definitely the cake itself. The moisture and strong matcha flavor really stood out and were my favorite parts. If I were to order from this bakery again, I'd probably try a different filling and cream because the buttercream just wasn't for me, but that's more of a personal preference.

The commitment to the elegance of French culture and modern creativity were evident in every luxurious pastry and cake on display. Maison Alyzée is an order-at-the-counter establishment, so we made our purchase with a friendly staff member at the register. Unfortunately, we were told that espresso drinks were no longer available that night since the staff had already begun cleaning the machines. Ok....I never understand businesses that start shutting down things before closing time. This just shows customers that team convenience of closing shop quickly takes precedence over customer experience, essentially omitting availability of items from the menu while they are still open.
