The coffee shop was very cute and simple. The area that the shop was in was nice, the entrance was covered in lovely greenery. The menu was expansive and had lots of yummy looking food and pastries on it along with coffee. I got a coconut milk latte with sugar free vanilla flavor. I pondered getting one of the vegan muffins that looked super tasty, but decided against it. They did look delicious though. I was very happy with my latte! read more

Why 4 stars? Because it's a great option for coffee on SOBE, but be prepared to wait. --- --- --- The morning after attending my first SOBEWFF event, I was desperately in need of some caffeine. I pulled up the Yelp app from my room at Hotel Chelsea to find that Shepherd was probably the closest place I could find the drug that I needed. A 0.2 mile walk was all that separated me from the good stuff. Unfortunately, the wait in line to order took much longer than my round trip walk to/from the hotel. There were only a few people ahead of me, but because this is a small place, the line went out the door. And the pace of the line was probably best described as a slow crawl. Once I was finally able to order, my double-shot of espresso took a fairly long time to appear. As for the coffee itself, it was great! I'm not sure if I just caught them on a bad day, but I see others citing similar wait times. And for the record, it wasn't awful, but you also wouldn't think coffee would take that long. However, options are limited within a few block radius, so this might be your best bet! read more

Cute little coffee shop in South Beach. I got just a basic iced coffee which was good, but I especially liked that they have different flavors of banana bread. We got a strawberry bread to share and it was sooo good. It's also fun to take a seat at one of their tables outside and just people watch everyone that is walking by. read more

The coffee: It was a darker roast. The cortado was a bit bitter and watery. I asked for a double shot and it came out in the smallest glass I've ever seen a cortado served in. It looked like it would barely hold a single shot, and if you add the foamed milk I have no idea how a double was supposed to fit in there. It wasn't good or bad, just very average coffee. The shop: It was a small and cute shop. It had a very European feel for some reason. I would like to sit and chat here, especially outside in the front. The happy hour: I would come back for their happy hour. You can get two drinks for $9. They aren't particularly strong drinks, but the mojitos at least were very refreshing. read more

Stopped in Shepherd Artisan Coffee on a hot summer day to get an iced coffee. Ordered a vanilla iced latte with macadamia nut milk. Latte was good. Not too sweet. Love the macadamia nut option. Only complaint was the latte did not seem to be mixed very well. Most of the vanilla syrup flavor settled on the bottom and the top half was the coffee flavor. The drinks were not well balanced the vanilla tasted off and to make matters worse each drink was $10. And I know I was in a tourist area, but I still think that's a little bit egregious. The service was friendly and much more efficient than my previous experience. I ordered the Green breakfast that included two eggs, avocado toast and a side salad. Good alternative for Coffee while in South Beach While I was walking around South Beach, I was craving that smooth taste of a perfectly brewed coffee. Luckily, I stumbled upon Shepherd. This is a small coffee shop in the heart of South Beach, walking distance to the beach. The space it self is quite small, making it a bit difficult to have a full coffee shop experience if the place is busy. But most importantly, the smooth coffee I was looking for, was there. I tried both an iced coffee and an espresso, both were good, made with a very balanced flavor. In addition, the pastries available are also good. (For those wondering about the price, I found it to be very competitive with "high end" coffee shops). We ordered the egg breakfast which was $10 for 2 eggs any style, a bagel, a side salad, and a coffee. The coffee was small but strong. The bagel was very obviously a "Thomas's bagel variety". The side salad was a few pieces of lettuce, tomato, olive oil and pepper. Simple yet delicious. Overall pretty filling and reasonably priced given Miami standards. We stayed across the street from this cute coffee shop during a recent visit to Miami. It's convenience trumped all the negatives. First and foremost their coffee is a little weak, specially if you get a latte. My recommendation would be to get a Cappuccino instead if you prefer bolder flavors. They do have a decent food selection but it ain't cheap. I could live with all of the above, had it not been for the disrespectful attitude of one of their male employees (shorter, Asian/Latin). I didn't catch his name or else I'd be happy to be specific since one of the other male employees (taller, skinny) was super nice. Without getting into an long story, in a nutshell this gentleman was rather arrogant, rude and disrespectful as if he was doing his paying customers a favor. This place showed up as #7 for breakfast and brunch near my hotel in south beach. They claim an all day breakfast but were out of what I wanted to order. My friend got an egg white omelette that ended up being runny scrambled eggs. I got the green breakfast, which used store bought guacamole. The salad in it was bland and the dish was overall flavorless. The worst part is the iced coffee I ordered. It tasted like Lysol or some sort of cleaning solution was mixed in to it. We ended up leaving and going into Rosetta next door. I got a couple pastries and an iced coffee from them and the difference was night and day. If you come here, I'd recommend you check out Rosetta first, it's right next door and the food/staff/coffee are superb. :) read more

I have been here four times now. The only thing bringing me back is the good coffee and mostly the friendly staff. The employees are wearing masks, but the owner, who has been there each time, does not. That wouldn't be a problem, if she wasn't coming in and out yelling and ordering her employees around. Once, I sat outside. She ordered her employee around telling her to pick up tiny pieces of paper on the ground. I get that you want a clean business, but, there is a right way and a wrong way to ask your employees to do things. Today, was my last visit. The employee in the back making food was wearing a mask, but the owner coming in and out yelling defeated the purpose and the employee messed with her mask then made the food, touching between the two at least four times. Shepherds was located in a great spot and served up some great tasting coffee I came in there around 8am on a Saturday and the place was already 85% full. The atmosphere was really chill and had a hipster kind of vibe to the place. The food took a little bit to make, but they were cranking out orders for a lot of folks. Service was pretty solid and the server was really diligent about answering questions for other folks. I wish I got his name but kudos to him! I ordered an iced coffee black which went down really smooth. I normally need milk or sugar to mask up the bitterness of most cheap coffees that I drink but this one didn't require any additions! The Shepherds breakfast sounded like it was going to be too much, but it really wasn't. I got it with a croissant and eggs over easy. The salad was dressed well and the tuna was a great protein to go with it. The eggs were cooked well and I was able to dip that buttery croissant into the runny yolk for a tasty bite. It was the perfect amount of food. I went back again later with some friends once they rolled out of bed to get another coffee later! My only regret was not going here earlier in the trip so I could have had their coffee everyday. read more

I ordered an iced Americano with another shot of espresso that took about 20 minutes for it to come out (which is fine. I get it. They're busy). They gave me drink hot and lacking a shot of espresso in it. At this point I thought it was no longer worth adding to their frenzy and asked for a cup of ice to make it cold myself, and when I asked one of the baristas, she looked at me with mild panic and just pointed at what seemed to be her superior to resolve my issue. While on vacation in Miami for a week, I visited this place a total of 5 times. My review is for my overall experience over the entire week. //SERVICE: The staff was friendly and helpful. Service was a bit slower than I would have liked but it was totally bearable seeing that I was on vacation and wasn't really in a hurry to get anywhere. The cashier was patient with me as I asked questions about teas, even with a line out the door of anxious folks waiting to order. //FOOD: Drinks - I tried the Iced Chai Latte and Lemon Mint Iced Blend drink. The Iced Chai was a on point, not too sweet or too bitter. The Lemon Mint Blend was really refreshing and was a perfect treat after being at the beach most of the day. Eats - I had the Breakfast Croissant each morning, with ham and Mozzarella cheese. Each time the sandwich was delicious and the perfect portion size. Although I didn't have a chance to try most things there during my trip, they had a large selection of food and drinks either ready to take or made to order. //AMBIANCE: The cafe sits in the heart of SoBe on Collins Ave, in between a discount beach shop and a few party hotels. With that being said, it had a quiet, classy and relaxing feel that almost made me forget that I was in the heart of South Beach Miami. Indoor seating is very limited, and there are a few outdoor tables available if you're lucky and get there before the rush. Initially the cashier was very nice. They gave us an electronic buzzer to know when our food would be ready. 15 minutes later, the buzzer rang only to go pick up coffee. Barista said that we'd be called when the food was ready. What seemed like the owner came around checking the numbers on the electronic buzzer thing and just grabbed it and tossed it back on our table without saying a word. Waited 25 minutes in total for food and when I went back in, my food was sitting there with no sign of us ever being notified. Same rude owner walked past it several times.
