In addition to some of the specifics mentioned in my previous review (see below), there have been several instances where Ankers could have just recommended the more expensive route to fix something, but chose to allow us to make an informed decision by trying alternatives or doing things incrementally so that it could be determined if a smaller fix would suffice. All this without sacrificing the integrity of the car, though. It is such a relief to know you are going to receive competent and honest work on one of the major financial investments you make: your vehicle. I can't recommend them highly enough.

But there's nothing negative to report! This place has helped me out with everything from minor (and cheap) concerns to body damage and engine issues. They always give me a fair estimate (I've shopped around) and the work is always done surprisingly quickly. The past two times they even threw in some work without charging me (like a tire rotation or free diagnostic for a check engine light). And they were great at dealing with my insurance company and helping things to move smoothly and quickly after an accident. It's got that family business atmosphere, and you always interact with the same people, which helps with the trust-building. Even my uhaul rental experience was overly positive! There's the cutest little chihuaha hanging around, too. I highly recommend Rich's for any mechanic work or uhaul rental. I brought my 2009 Chevy Malibu in for an estimate because I wanted the frame addressed, the windshield repaired/replaced as appropriate, and the affected area repainted. J Smitty Automotive provided a preliminary estimate with a Grand Total of $3,985.17. For context, I purchased this vehicle for approximately $6,000, so being quoted nearly $4,000 for the repair was not reasonable to me. What left the interaction with a bad impression was that there was no attempt to recommend a more cost-effective path forward or explain alternatives - only a very high estimate. I then obtained another written estimate elsewhere for the same problem area ("Front Windshield and Frame") totaling $375.00, which I found far more reasonable. To avoid any confusion: the repairs shown in my before - and - after photos were NOT performed by J Smitty Automotive; they were completed by the other shop after I declined this estimate. Days after its in the shop, they call me and tell me THEY broke a bolt and that they cannot finish the work until I paid for the new part myself. They then OFFERED to put back in the BROKEN part if I did not want to pay for the new part that was "covered under warranty". Awful Customer Service, Corey the "Part Owner" shows no sympathy nor intellectual thinking. AWFUL business and a terrible way to retain customers.
