For a major hotel chain, this was wildly disappointing. In general, it has been so sad to see what has happened to "hospitality" since COVID. More like a Days Inn, this hotel has way too much DIY to be considered 4 stars. We checked in on a Thursday for a 4 night stay. When I checked in, I told the staff I had received a medical delivery. They asked if I wanted to go up to my room and THEN come back for my box. Mind you, both my husband and I are visibly disabled and this is a 20+ lb package, half the size of me. I kindly asked the staff (there were several people at the desk) if they could bring it up. Which.... Used to be something hotels did. After 20 minutes in our room, my husband and I went down to retrieve the box ourselves, and found the entire staff standing at the counter talking, with no guests in sight. Someone begrudgingly got a cart and assisted us with the box, after we said we would carry it ourselves since it was urgent and we couldn't wait any longer. The room was fine. We had an adjoining suite but the layout was odd and the decor was random and dated. For an ADA room, it was minimally accessible, the only feature was an accessible bathroom. Other than that, the bed was of average right and my husband couldn't even navigate the other bathroom. In both bathrooms the water in the shower took at LEAST 10 minutes to heat up and there were towels with stains on them. One morning I went to make coffee and realized the tray to our coffeemaker is missing, rendering it unusable. After I told the front desk this, it was still never replaced during the remainder of our stay, and nothing was done to remedy this situation. Housekeeping did not come until we requested it after three nights. I know since COVID, places have had different policies, but we were never informed of these or given an option to opt in or out of having our room serviced. The most wild thing about this hotel is how it is basically a food desert! It is in a prime location and advertises a restaurant and a Starbucks, which is partly why we picked it. Well, the "Starbucks" closes at 11 a.m and doesn't use the app, and when I ordered breakfast the woman working acted like she was being bothered even though at that point it felt like we were the only guests in the hotel. This morning I tried to pay in cash and was informed they didn't have cash to allow me to pay with a $20... as a coffee shop. The "restaurant" that is advertised as some sort of seafood tapas is literally the hotel lobby with the bartender waiting on you. We ate here the first night and it felt like we were on an SNL skit. Half the things on the menu weren't available including.... tapas. Barbara the bartender is wonderful and clearly the only woman running the show (she does make a great mocktail once they come). After we realized that experience was $80, we sustained on delivery the rest of the trip. Of course there are no microwaves in the rooms either, which would be at least helpful if you're expected to provide your own meals. The good thing is, the hotel is accessible to lots of places to order from, because from 11-5 all you have access to is overpriced chips, cookies and soda. How that is allowed by Marriott standards is beyond me! All in all, this stay has been comfortable but very underwhelming, for the lack of service and amenities, I'd probably stay at another Marriott or a holiday Inn to save money. It surely was not worth what we paid and a prime example of how the level of customer service sure didn't get upgraded along with the building! So sad Sheraton!

Renovated full-service Sheraton in Chapel Hill right on 15/501. We did a staycation and booked on a whim using Marriott Bonvoy points. The hotel is renovated with modern and fresh decor in the lobby and rooms. The lobby smelled really clean as well and they have a bistro area and restaurant in the lobby area. There is also a club lounge for members and if there is low occupancy, they give you vouchers to use. Most king rooms have showers and the majority of the rooms with tub / shower combinations are queen rooms. We had a comfortable stay and everything was clean. The location is great to be close to 40 and access to Franklin street or major destinations in Chapel Hill or Durham. We got takeout dinner from the shopping area nearby with the Trader Joe's (Chipotle, Chopt, Shake Shack, etc).

Spending another night in Chapel Hill on a UNC basketball night, were able to book a room using our Silver Elite membership points. The hotel was completely remodeled in 2022 and it shows. The lobby, bar and restaurant are tastefully decorated and the furnishings are quite comfortable. We arrived at 8:00pm and were quickly checked in. The hallways are a bit dark and our room, 202, was a long way down from the elevators. Once we opened the door though, wow. We opted to have a light dinner in the bar downstairs and make it an early night. The bedroom was beautiful and very comfortable. We will definitely stay here again.

    Mr. Sanjog and myself!

It was nearing midnight, but still Friday January 10th. I was driving for Lyft and the weather couldn't be worse. Snow turned to sleet and then freezing rain. I was 1.5 hours from home trying to make sure I could get as many people home safely as possible. The temps were dropping and it was frigid. When all of a sudden my van started losing power. I knew right away it had to be the alternator. I looked for a spot to pull off the highway as the roads were already treacherous. As I turned the corner there it was sitting on a hill like a beacon of hope, and answered prayers. But before I could make it into the parking lot the worst struck. The van went completely dead and I couldn't move it nor could I leave it as it was a danger to others who may come up on it and not see it in time. I had many guarding angels looking out for me that night. Most working right here in this magnificent hotel. And guest who were complete strangers but with stood the elements to help me in my time of need. Mr Tracy was the first friendly face who I met, he is the head of maintenance for the Hotel and was so kind to come out and give me a jumpstart so I could safely move my vehicle in the parking lot. Once inside as I tried to arrange for my room I was met with a bevy of problems all of which were my own and not on the Hotel. So the very sweet and talented Cindy who was working the front desk went above and beyond to make sure I was able to get my room and ultimately much needed rest. As I waited nervously a man sitting next to me while I was at the bar showed me the up most respect and words of encouragement as he must have read the anxiousness on my face. It turned out that man was none other than the banquet manager Mr Sanjog. Through out my stay he continued to check on me and make sure I was good. I can't thank all these people enough. They will never truly know the profound difference their generosity made to me in a very dark and difficult time in my life. I may be just another face to them in the future but they will forever remain heroes to me in my time of need. Please if you come by and thank each one of them again for me, and enjoy the great service that is Sheraton - Chapel Hill.

Nice redo to the property, the staff upon check in has their nose in the air and the bartender has a horrible attitude (while pimple popping and having personal conversations on his phone while serving customers). I reported this to corporate afterward and NEVER got any follow up. Nice hotel but they need to hire some quality folks.

    TVs are somewhat small.

Let me start by saying the expectations were quite high given that Priceline claims this to be a 4 star hotel. This is the second time I've been burned by Priceline's rating system. My advice - ALWAYS check Yelp first before booking to get a real rating of the hotel. I booked a 2 night stay at this hotel in order to fight some food poisoning I was having and couldn't continue driving. I booked through Priceline. Upon check-in I was greeted by Sandee, who I assumed was going to be a friendly person. Not so. I continue to experience poor service from these "high end" hotels when I book through Priceline. I'm not sure if they are looking down their nose at Priceline guests, or what, but it appears to be more true every time I check into a hotel like this. Keep in mind, I'm a working professional, not a low end customer. I had requested a king room from Sandee - knowing ahead of time they were available - she said they were not. So the dishonest was a big turnoff. Next - to state that this is a 4 star hotel is a reach. When it first opened, probably so. It is beat up, deteriorated and in need of renovation. The lobby furniture has tears and holes, the elevators are marred, nicked and in bad condition. The furniture in my double room is also in bad shape, with wood chips and nicks all over the night stand's legs. I've stayed at 2.5 star hotels that were better than this Sheraton. That's not an exaggeration by any stretch - some of the newer Comfort Inns, La Quintas are nicer. As other reviewers state - this place is nowhere near the quality of a Sheraton 4 star hotel. I found a long black hair on my refridgerator tray which was kind of nasty. The desk is full of scratches as well. The televisions are quite small given the viewing distance from the beds. There were coffee stains on the wall in the bathroom - so obvious, how a housekeeper didn't see them is beyond me. I can only assume the housekeeping manager is not staying on top of the housekeepers rooms when doing checks. The bathroom tiles were so poorly cut you can see the subfloor by the bathtub. The upside was the pressure was somewhat decent from the shower head. The maid service still had not arrived by 2:30pm - So I just cancelled it and asked for No Service. I needed to work in my room and get things done. I left my room at 9:45am and returned at 12:30pm thinking the room would have been taken care of by that point. I called the front desk to inquire about a guest laundry - nope. No guest laundry at a "4 star hotel". A bit absurd. You have a fitness center, a pool, a restaurant, but you don't have 20 sq feet for a guest laundry. Initially I was going to check out right away and get a refund from Priceline but I was too tired and it was too late in the evening to jerk around finding another hotel. This hotel like many high end hotels is on a downward glide and doesn't appear to care about the guest experience or the upkeep of their property. The management should probably be fired to improve the property and the guest experience.

Sometimes it's about expectations. This was a last minute "4-star" Hotwire purchase. If I were this Sheraton, I would want Hotwire to lower expectations to a more reasonable 3 or 3.5 for this property. Isn't it better to have expectations exceeded, rather than not even met? Having stayed in many 4-star hotels over the years, it is easy to expect a lot of a 4-star experience. Honestly, I wasn't sure how this older hotel that I don't believe was ever considered 4-stars even when it was The Hotel Europa could realistically be labeled 4-stars, but was sure ready to give it the benefit of the doubt, and looking forward to our one night escape! First thing we were met with was signs in the parking lot that they weren't responsible for what happened to our cars. Okay, that's nice and friendly...realistic, but didn't know if we should be concerned? Parked anyway, which is at least free, and went in to a very friendly check-in. First impressions were very good. Lobby looked modern and with the friendly check-in we felt most welcome, which is how the staff continued to treat us. This is a staff that CARES. Seriously, they are giving it their all, and it was much appreciated by us! Was asked if we were Starwood members, and I said yes. He was kind enough to look me up, saw that my membership had expired and renewed it for me. Nice! (although not sure what it means) We were assigned a room on the first floor. Haven't stayed on the first floor in any hotel recently, but with the friendly start that included notification of special "Earth Hour" happenings that night, we were pumped about our stay at this caring place. I practically skipped to our room, and didn't even notice at first the signs in the hall, but as soon as we dropped off our luggage in our small, but clean-looking, ok room, with a small patio that overlooked 15-501 (I commented to Husband that I wouldn't be happy to have a first-floor room if I were a female traveling alone, but since I wasn't and the locks on the sliding-glass door looked efficient, it felt okay), we headed back out to the lobby. That's when I saw the sign on the room next to ours that I admit, made me instantly feel like some kind of second-rate person. The sign said "Starwood Preferred Guestroom", which brought up all kinds of questions in my instantly insulted brain. What did that mean that we weren't preferred? What did the preferred folks get that we didn't? Why not put the preferred people on a different floor so the rest of us didn't know we weren't preferred? Or why not put their special sign IN their room, so the rest of us didn't know that we were lower-class? If this is a new Sheraton trend, I haven't seen it before now, and hope that I don't run into it again. Making people feel special at the expense of others is, well, not cool. Especially considering that whoever the "preferred" guest was in the room next to ours ruined most of our night and made sure it was pretty sleepless due to her loud yelling, door slamming and shouting....the latest being at 2:36 a.m. which didn't stop until she must have finally passed out after 3am. "Preferred" meant "disturbed" to us neighbors. That being said, there are some real pros to this hotel. FREE internet. Very rare, especially in 4-stars. FREE shuttle within 5 miles and to Franklin Street. And instant, I might add. We went to the front desk to inquire and were told, okay let's go. When we wanted to return, we called, told where we were, and within 15 minutes, were picked up with a smile. Truly awesome shuttle service, so I hate to nitpick, but I would recommend that the shuttle van get a good cleaning. It smelled like many sweaty sports teams might have ridden it it. (sorry, but it was a pretty strong sweat smell that made athletes come to mind). Another PRO about the service here. After our very lengthy Shula's experience, Husband wanted Tums. We found them at the front desk, and when we mentioned we wanted to break a bill for the drink machines, again the service was wonderful that we were given coins and warned that bills didn't work in the machines. We have certainly been in hotels in the past, where they could have cared less whether drink machines worked or not. Again, every one of the staff members we came in contact with here were top-notch caring. That being said, this is not, imho a 4-star hotel. It's a great 3-star. It's an okay 3.5 star. The bed was pretty comfy. The bathroom had an old tub, the sink plumbing leaked, and the bathroom products were the usual 3-star "Shine" lotion, shampoo, conditioner and bar of soap. Paint on doors & stuff worn. Again, perfectly fine for 3-star. And everything was clean, which is way more important than paint. Am adding photos, so you can see for yourself. Do know that if you stay here, you won't find a more friendly staff. Talented too...the band that performed for Earth hour was very talented!

The room generally looked old, worn, and dirty.

First, what attracted me to it was its great location, just at the point where Chapel Hill and Carrboro meet. So it's more or less within walking distance of the Old Campus of UNC, the main part of Franklin Street and also of Weaver Street and other parts of Carrboro. Plus, it's right across Main Street from Gourmet Kingdom, my favorite Szechuan Chinese restaurant in the state. As a Hilton Diamond and fan of Hampton Inns, I appreciate being upgraded to a junior suite and getting free parking, instead of having to pay $12. Speaking of parking, it's a little confusing. Hampton has two floors (think it's the fourth and fifth) of a public garage that serves a small shopping area. There are also six Diamond spaces near the entrance to the hotel on the first floor of the garage, but they were occupied when we checked in. The parking lot is free to shoppers but costs most Hampton guests $12 (again, Diamonds excluded), which is a little weird. In most ways, this is a standard issue urban Hampton, with good, if the usual limited service, and clean rooms. I must say this Hampton is showing just a little wear and tear since the first time I stayed here about five years ago. Nothing serious -- just little things, like a tear in a sofa and worn buttons in the elevators. The A/C struggled to cool the oversized room completely. One other small complaint: The TV is a little on the small side (this in 2019, not 2010 or 2015) and the channel selection doesn't include TCM or any of the Hallmark channels. Prices are slightly on the high side for a Hampton. With taxes we paid nearly $170 for king double regular room, although we were upgraded to a queen junior suite, so I can't complain. Breakfast was the usual Hampton buffet. One new addition was smoothies, in a couple of flavors. All in all, though, I recommend this Hampton Inn & Suites for its great location and solid delivery of quality/value.

I am a Diamond member and he is Silver, but our status didn't seem to make any difference in the quality of the stay or how our concerns were handled. The AC never kept the room cool, even running continuously, and by the second night it was so hot we chose to leave early rather than try switching rooms. The mattress was completely worn out, the curtains were literally falling down, and despite requesting extra pillows, none were provided. Overall, the room felt like a typical college‑area hotel that's been heavily used and not properly maintained. On the positive side, breakfast was good, and the location is very convenient if you need to be close to the university or medical center. However, when we informed management at 1 p.m. that we were leaving early due to all of these issues, we were told there would be no refund or even a discount for the second night. Given the uncomfortable room temperature, poor maintenance, lack of responsiveness, and the fact that loyalty status did not seem to matter, I would rate this stay 2.5 stars at best and would not recommend this hotel unless proximity to the university is your absolute top priority and you're willing to overlook comfort.

The Rizzo Center also had a full-sized gym, complete with two stationary bikes, a rowing machine, a peloton, a cable machine, a couple of treadmills and machines, and full dumbbell sets. They also provided a guest pantry, which was open 24/7, and stocked with ice cream, soda, coffee and tea. They also had several laundry machines on each floor, free for guests to use. The complimentary breakfast on the first floor was great, and included oats, grits, fruits, yogurt, pastries and hot foods (frittata, scrambled eggs, french toast, sausage/bacon, etc.). Definitely recommend staying here when visiting the RTP area.

I really enjoyed my recent stay at this terrific mid-priced hotel in the heart of Chapel Hill,…read morewhich welcomes guests with a distinct college sports theme that celebrates the town's Tar Heel heritage. From the Dean Smith and Michael Jordan guest room artwork to the basketball court play area on the third floor, the whole place feels like a giant pregame pep rally. My standard balcony room was clean and cozy, with a comfortable queen bed and a decent-sized bathroom. Parking is conveniently located in an attached two-level deck that's a bit tight but gets the job done. And the convenient West Franklin St location, just a short walk from the UNC campus, makes the Graduate an ideal spot for anyone visiting the university for a ballgame, a student tour, or just to check up on your Tar Heel. There are a number of restaurants and bars within walking distance, including the Crunkleton, He's Not Here and Carolina Brewing. Don't want to leave? There's also a small restaurant and bar right off the lobby. Reservations can be tough to secure on gamedays and graduations, so book early. But if you can manage to score a room here, you might just discover your new favorite lodging spot in Chapel Hill.

If you need/want a comfortable stay at a hotel, this is not it. This is not it…read more I'm writing this review at 5 AM after having had very little sleep last night due to the super uncomfortable mattress. I honestly feel like sleeping on the floor would have been as comfortable as this mattress in this room. And for what I paid for this room I expected much more, much better. Checking in downstairs I was greeted by a beautiful spacious lobby, a fresh scent in the air, and the check in reception desk staff was friendly and super competent. I chose to park on site because it was freezing outside and I didn't want to have to walk too far as I'm traveling by myself. Parking below the hotel is available for a cost. Getting down under the building in a larger vehicle can be a little scary. But I managed to easily find parking and hopefully later today when I leave, I won't have any issues. I took the elevator from the parking lot up to the fourth floor where my room is and easily found my room. But when I open the door to my room, it smelled like dirty sheets. Like dirty hair that needs to be washed. It did not smell like the fresh scent of the lobby. The decor is very masculine and uncomfortable. The couch that I sat in started to unfold itself as I'm sitting in it is the best way I can describe it. It's like it can turn into another bed in the room, but it's so poorly made that while you're sitting on it the bottom cushions start to slide out like it's going to turn it into the bed. Very uncomfortable and hard. The actual king size bed looks like it's going to be super comfortable. It's got nice, fluffy sheets and pillows on it however, I cannot get comfortable in it as it is hard as a rock. My hips are killing me and my right arm keeps falling asleep. I cannot find a comfortable position. There is no alarm clock, so I have to check my phone to check the time. Good luck figuring out the light switches. I spilled some water and there are no paper towels, so I chose to use a washcloth to wipe it up. Thefloors are laminate so wiping it up should've been easy and I expected the washcloth to be virtually clean when I picked it up, however it was filthy. So when was the last time these floors were mopped? And then I started looking around that's an area rug and there are several dark stains on the area rug. I had to turn the heater on because the air conditioner was running and the room was freezing. I mean outside it was 33°. The heater was so loud. I called downstairs and they offered to send someone up, but I was already in my pajamas so hopefully after I check out, they will check it out because it sounded like a freight train was in the room every time it came on. The walls are pretty thin and I know this is a college town and there was a concert here tonight. I knew that I would hear sounds from the street, but it was the sounds from the hallway and the rooms around me that was super annoying. The iron never heated up enough and water spilled all over the clothes I was ironing. Had to use the hair dryer to remove the water. Some previous yelpers said the water pressure in the shower was light. I found it to be perfect. But the hotel provided shampoo, conditioner, and body wash all had a male-centered fragrance. Overall, I'm very disappointed in the stay. I have a pretty long day ahead of me with a lot of driving and I got basically no rest. And my back is stiff.

We had seats at the bar and got to observe the Great Angela at work!!
