    Sirloin steak

*Best meal I've had on Nantucket in YEARS!* A tiny tucked away dining room located underneath the ships Inn hotel. The first thing that stood out to me was the attention to detail. Once we were seated by a very friendly hostess we started with 2 "Aurora" cocktails. A perfect blend of tequila and lime and a splash of grapefruit? Garnished with rosemary which hit all the senses while enjoying. The bread came out my favorite was the oatmeal with hints of banana. It was warm and served with whipped butter tasted very fresh. Our server Theo was very professional/friendly, we started with the "sautéed lobster appetizer" and the "poached pear salad." Both home runs... the sautéed Lobster appetizer came with a perfect amount of lobster, sautéed mushrooms, cheesy polenta, chopped Asparagus, and a unbelievable buttery, garlicky, tasteful gravy. The poached pear salad was unbelievable. Sweet, slightly salty, accompanied with a creamy lightly fried goat cheese on a bed of fresh greens, was pieced together with a lemon vinaigrette. Not a huge salad guy but this was not an ordinary salad (must get). After ordering another round of Aurora's is was time for the main course... there's not many times I've wanted 3-4 things on the menu so it was a tough call... I ended up going with the dry aged sirloin and boy was I not disappointed. Perfectly cooked medium rare, seasoned very well with whole peppercorns and the Demi glaze that was a 10/10... it was served with cheesy buttery scalloped potato's and some small green beans and carrots. One of best steaks I've had ever... The person I was with went with the filet which 9.9/10 times I feel like it's a boring steak this was not... Perfectly cooked medium rare, Tender as could be and topped with an amazing blue cheese glaze. I didn't think I had enough room for dessert but I was glad we did. We had an amazing vanilla layered cake with homemade fudge frosting. This was the cherry on top it was excellent. It seemed like everyone who worked there was very passionate in what they do and it showed. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody. From start to finish they did not miss a beat. Compared to many other restaurants on Nantucket the price's were very reasonable as well. The Owner came over and made a perfect amount of small talk asking how everything came out (attention to detail). Great place for a romantic date, birthday, or just to have a great meal! We will be back ASAP

Creme brûlée - to die for!

Went for the first time last year and after our second visit can guarantee we'll be coming back again. Everything we ordered was phenomenal and cooked to order, i'd definitely recommend reserving one of their famous soufflés as soon as you arrive (they sell out and take ~30 mins to prepare). This visit I got their creme brûlée which was also to die for if you're looking for something a little lighter. The place is very small so a reservation well in advance is a must. FYI - they open booking 1 month prior to your desired date.

    Swordfish . . . Delicious!!!

This was our first dinner on Nantucket Island for our first trip to Nantucket Island, and I must say, we were not disappointed!! Everything was delicious!! The bread was homemade and fresh, the shrimp gumbo was absolutely amazing!!! The sea scallops were the best I've ever tasted!!! I had the Halibut and my daughter had the Swordfish and both dishes were excellent!! Very flavorful and the fish was cooked to perfection!! My only complaint would be the puréed peas, which I didn't much care for, but then again, I don't like peas, and the mushroom risotto that also accompanied the dish more than made up for the puréed peas. My daughter's creamed spinach was really good, and I wish I could have swapped my puréed peas for the creamed spinach, but other than that, Ship's Inn definitely hit the mark!! We will certainly be back!!

Super romantic dinner in Nantucket. Really great personal service, manager or owner stopped by to say hello and chat about my Brown Reunion. The food was fresh, flavorful and nicely plated. A really nice place to take a special someone on Nantucket.

We had a nice, cozy dinner here. The place itself is really cute, since it's an old house. The staff is so friendly. We were seated at a table in the corner, and it was a really nice atmosphere for a conversation and a quiet evening. The oysters were great! The scallop appetizer was also really tasty, but it comes with 2 scallops and one of them was really tiny. The chowder was delicious. We really enjoyed our entrees as well, and the beet salad that came with one of them. A little pricey, but about average for Nantucket and a nice low-key night.

    Bread basket. Nice selection.

Excellent dinner with my wife in this quaint restaurant. Had a craving for some Halibut and was not disappointed. The halibut was cooked to perfection moist and flakey with potato risotto and Porcini mushrooms absolutely delicious. If you can't get good seafood here you can not get it anywhere. My wife really enjoyed the Rigatoni with Duck Bolognese topped with ricotta salata. My granddaughter enjoyed the leftovers the next day. The dinner was capped off by a delicious soufflé which we shared. We wished we had ordered two. It was as light as air. Great dinner on great island.

Special soufflé each day. Today: raspberry.

They do have a couple of tables outside, but it was kind of a cool and windy day and not enjoyable to be sitting out. Darn shame. Seafood was alive in tanks. Everything was very fresh. Prices very reasonable. Too bad they do not have a real eating area, not a restaurant, but a place where you can sit, use utensils, and enjoy.

There's a place to park, I can walk in, order a fried fish sandwich, look at some lobsters in a tank for ten minutes (the best part) and be out the door with a hot n ready fried fish sandwich in my hands. On my last visit, the woman at the counter was so happy. I was already happy because I was getting a fried fish sandwich. And then I was feeding off of her energy, and I was just having such a great moment in Sayle's Seafood! Now, I could sit in and eat here and bask in their fishy glory since there are tables, but I have yet to do so. I also love the view of the harbor from the front porch and that it's tucked down that little street and the vibe is so island that it contributes to the over-romanticism of Nantucket that happens in my mind but that's okay. The fish sandwich was really good. The time before that, I ordered the clam strips side, which was a lot smaller than I believed it was going to be. They were small individual pieces and fried well-done, while I do prefer a softer crunch. Next time, I will order the clam strip platter which comes with accoutrements. I also had their clam chowder, which I also thought was pretty good. I will be back for more seafood, and I hope that it is soon!

There was a cute market attached although it was closed when we stopped in, or at least no one was over there. Service was friendly and we were seated inside nearly immediately. The chowder was so delicious, my son nearly licked the bowl. The lobster roll and salmon were both equally delicious and so friendly. Tables are bit cramped - me and another poor woman literally kept hitting each other with our elbows lol, but that's the price you get for being seated quickly! Unfortunately the outdoor seating was booked (party of 5) so we sat indoors. It was quite busy for dinner. The menu is simple and just right. We ordered SO much food! The clam chowder was too watery for my taste. I'm a fan of thick hearty New England style clam chowder. I liked the onion rings with caviar but the batter took on most of the flavor. Caesar salad had a little twist: no croutons and topped with anchovies. It was yummy. Fish tacos were a hit; we ordered fried instead of grilled. The warm lobster rolls were delicious. I avoid gluten where I can so I got the fish sandwich without a bun. It was crispy on the outside, flaky and soft inside. Coleslaw made it whole. The rosemary fries and cornbread as sides were addicting! Key lime dessert was meh. It was busy but we got the attention we needed. The staff was friendly and had smiles on their faces. Definitely good for fried seafood!!!

I seldom write bad or negative reviews, so this one flummoxed me a bit…read more The appetizer was this wonderful cold mussel dish, with spices and a light oil. Just a nice, artisan dish akin to something you'd get in New Bedford or Fall River. Fantastic. 5-Stars. Now their lobster roll. Imagine a hot dog, OK, and now imagine one of those little Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage links for size comparison. The volume of finely shredded lobster meat, that was also warm in that hot dog roll was smaller than the Jimmy Dean link. 0-Stars. My recommendations for a "good" lobster roll is to go anywhere else on island. I'd recommend Sayle's Seafood, The Nantucket Lobster Trap or Stubby's. In fact, I'd just stay clear of the Club Car altogether, it is one of those places for the self-focused New York / Miami new [vulgar] money jet-set that treat the island like their play-thing... you know, you see their empty beer cans in the morning around town. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

After reading the other one-star review, I don't expect this review will get a response either…read more However, I'm posting it so other people are aware and hopefully don't end up in the same situation. I have been trying for almost a year to contact The Club Car about an experience I had. I have called multiple times, left messages, and emailed, but I have never received a response. I made reservations at The Club Car's sister restaurant, Nantucket Tap Room. My confirmation text said my reservation was at The Club Car, so I called right away. I was told not to worry because they are sister restaurants and the confirmation "just said The Club Car." On the day of our reservation, I called the Tap Room just to confirm. That's when I was told I did not have a reservation there and that it was actually at The Club Car. Thankfully, the manager was able to get us a table at the Tap Room. When we arrived, I asked the hostess if The Club Car had been notified, and she assured me the reservation had been canceled. I had a wonderful dinner with my husband and son. We spent well over $400 and left very happy. Then I received my credit card statement and saw a $75 no-show charge from The Club Car. I immediately called and was told a manager would contact me. No one ever did. Nearly a year later, after multiple phone calls, voicemails, and emails requesting a refund, I still have not received a single response. The reservation mix-up was frustrating, but what has been even more disappointing is the complete lack of customer service afterward. I understand that mistakes happen, but charging a customer a no-show fee after your own staff assured them everything had been taken care of, then ignoring every attempt to resolve it for almost a year, is unacceptable.
