We go here every year, and wouldn't change a thing. Perfect for kids, with games, a gym, a pool table, and a separate adult pool for nights without the kiddos. The staff is so kind and accommodating, they always go the extra mile. I just can't emphasize that enough! The rooms are gorgeous. It's expensive, my only complaint, but it's Nantucket. The location is great too, so close to the beach AND the city. I can take a morning walk to breakfast in three minutes and to the beach in 15.

Service service service. Excellent hotel. The entire staff goes above and beyond and are all so genuinely kind. My son loved the freshly baked cookies every day of our stay and the hotel restaurant was fabulous. Kids club, kids pool and adult only pool, pet friendly, clean, we loved the dvd library as well on the first floor... the list goes on. Fabulous hotel can't wait to come back.

In a word -Delightful! From the moment you arrive till the time you leave, every person, every point of contact is pleasant, friendly and focused on you. We were their for a corporate event. We were met at the doc by a friendly outgoing driver who set the stage for customer service. We were greeted by a front desk staff that wanted to help! Each day we stopped by, for a question, directions or even on the timing of when the newspapers would arrive, they had a genuine smile and offers to help. We enjoyed the continental breakfast each day and we loved the deck and the fire "pits". The bike's easy walking access to town and local beaches made this a perfect get-away. We loved our room and amenities in the room and the downstairs gym and playrooms were clean and bright. We need to go back when the weather is warmer so we can enjoy the pool!

Wow, this hotel is the definition of a 5 star review. From staff and customer service to the hotel itself and our stay, this was a hotel that all of us enjoyed and plan to return to if we were to choose a hotel in Nantucket to stay at. The room itself was very spacious and clean. Depending on the room you book, you can sleep a good number of people. One of our family friends (group of 2) got a room that could sleep 7! The front desk was super friendly and helpful. They even gave us recommendations on biking to Sconset Beach and we were glad we took their advice. You can arrange for shuttle pickup from the ferry dock which is recommended because you won't want to haul your stuff from the ferry dock to the hotel on the cobblestone. Breakfast was included with our stay which was eggs any style or pancakes. Check out was at 10 and I wish it was extended until at least 11. The only thing I regret from this trip was only staying 1 night. We should have done 2 at least! Overall this is your hotel to stay at on Nantucket, it's worth shelling out the extra bucks for this great hotel!

I can not say enough good things about this place. No stone was left unturned , every detail was thought of to guarantee an outstanding vacation experience for their guests. This has to be one of the best if not the best vacation experience I have had, from the 1934 vintage Ford bus which met is at the ferry dock, the careful handling of our bags, the speedy check in which included beach buckets filled with goodies for our three grandchildren, free lemonade and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and delicious chocolates waiting for us in our well appointed suite. The suite was large and comfortable with a kitchenette a full size refrigerator microwave and full set of dishes and utensils. The living room had a large flat screen TV and a well stocked library with some excellent reading for adults and children. We had three large bedrooms and three large well appointed bathrooms. The unit also had a washer and dryer with detergent and fabric softener. Beach chairs and full size golf umbrellas were also provided with pool towels. The hotel had a very nice off lobby game room stocked with a full library and dvd's for guest use. They also hosted an excellent wine and cheese party there. The lower level had a pool table and the spa and gym which had everything you could want. The grandkids enjoyed the Kids Club each morning from 9 to 12. They took them on trips to the beach and aquarium and had a number of games and activities. The lap pool and main pool were heated and had a number of things for the kids to use. The hot tub and sauna and large cabanas were enjoyed by the adults. At night they hosted a S'mores party for the kids,we enjoyed them also. The staff here does not seem to have "no" in their vocabulary. Every request was promptly responded to. The grands were looking forward to the daily three pm fire truck ride, but the battery died. No problem they got the bus and gave everyone a grand tour of the area. Everything here exceeded my expectations. Thanks to each and every member of the staff from the general manager to the young people who took such good care of the grandkids each morning to the servers in the restaurant who knew all our names and supplied a delicious breakfast buffet each day. The berry selection was outstanding. This was a truly special time that I hope to repeat one day.

    Carriage House

Go back in…read moretime A gorgeously restored Victorian carriage house, this B&B is without question one of the nicest places we have stayed on the island. The location is on a very quiet little side street that feels isolated even in the midst of the summer chaos. The great part is that the Carriage House is still only a short walk to the center of Nantucket. The rooms aren't large but extremely nice and furnished in period style. They serve a pleasant breakfast in the morning and we had some of the best blueberry muffins ever. Perhaps the nicest part of our stay was getting to met the proprietors Haziel and his wife Tomomi. They were incredibly gracious and friendly and not only willing to take the time to give us directions to anything we wanted but also seemed to enjoy discussing environmental issues on the island or aspects of Nantucket history, politics, or just about anything else. This is an absolutely gorgeous place to stay but it was the hospitality of Haziel and Tomomi that made it very special.

The location couldn't be better - a block from the head of Main Street, near Murray's, yet off on a secluded and quiet side street. The bedroom was comfortable and cozy - bonus that the view from my window was of the gold dome of the Unitarian Church. As others have said, this is a great value when compared to other B&B's in the area, which are much more expensive. At Carriage, I stayed in a queen room with a private bath for approximately $50-$75 less than what a single bed with shared bath would have cost me elsewhere. One very small additional convenience that would be nice would be air conditioning, as it can get pretty hot and humid at times on the island. The lack of A/C is actually common on the island however, and I slept comfortably with the ceiling fan.

The restaurant website has a mostly up to date menu, which apparently doesn't change much. Not a single veg main. I lean pescatarian and try to eat healthy and there was nothing. Think cheeseburger, steak frites, sweetbreads, boudin sausage, tempura softshell crabs, swordfish. There was a roast lobster for $75 but too pricey, and no idea if I would have liked it. Pretty sure that I would prefer a lobster roll at Walter's. They have a foie gras app. We all ordered the beet salad, and it was the only time I can remember not enjoying that usually delicious choice. No one enjoyed it. It is served kind of like steak tartare, finely minced beets that were very difficult to eat without making a mess. I really tried and still got a small stain on my white shirt. I love most beet salads. It did not have any cheese, I think it is often served with goat cheese. It did have beautiful, unusual salad leaves on the side. It was bland and other than being healthy, not much to recommend it. There wasn't a single main course that appealed to me. It's not a large selection, 8 choices. Usually I can find things easily so this was not par for the course. I asked if there was a veg main. Our server came back and said the chef could make a risotto. There was a "BLT risotto" on the vegetable sides, and I love BLTs but I don't like risotto so I ordered the fluke which he said came with a Dijon vinaigrette. I had been thinking of just ordering two vegetable sides, but I knew it would make my parents uncomfortable if I didn't get a main, my mistake. I asked the waiter if the fluke came with vegetables, he said yes, zucchini. Well, I would say there is about maximum 1/2 ounce of zucchini, kind of shredded underneath the fish. Unfortunately, imo Dijon vinaigrette on fish is not good. .Seems mains are essentially served without vegetables. One of those restaurants with pricey mains where you need to order sides as extras. I hesitated to order dessert since I had struck out two for two, but ordered the chocolate pot de crème. It was pretty good. Overall though, the experience was not enjoyable, service wasn't attentive or friendly, but for me, the food was the biggest problem. The others got steak frites, it looked good, cooked to order and with a Bernaise sauce. I am not picky and am generally happy with both menus and meals. I like French food, but this menu was just not good for me and unfortunately, I truly did not enjoy the food or the overall experience.

I stumbled onto this place by pure coincidence. A couple on the street suggested late one evening and demanded - yes demanded I sit at the bar. What a stroke of luck! I ambled through the side entrance and down steep stairs to the sounds of conversation and laughter and of those smells of wonderful meals past and present. I was fortunate to be seated at the bar - the hostess checked with the chef - and I joined a bunch of regulars. I had no idea what I was in for. Really, no clue! Our bartender John is a wonderful host. He served me a drink, kept my water glass full, and made the menu easy to navigate. He recommended the specials, warm mushroom salad and the lamb stew - both exquisite! My dear readers I am at a loss to describe all the flavors swirling in my mouth from these magnificent dishes. And thank goodness for the delicious garlic infused bread with soft butter to soak up the sauces! Had to get every last drop. Desert? Seriously??!! With a hollow leg maybe. If D is your thing I suggest sharing and a salad and entree or come just for the dessert which is my plan. Now I only wish they serve breakfast... Enjoy!
