Saw the Ad in the hotel folder, and noticed the $1 taco Tuesday. Wife and I took a drive, kinda hard to find, but did...park in the bank lot next door and take the stairs down to the bar/restaurant... Kinda like the Cheers tv show. Very nice woman working , comp chips/salsa...nice touch, had a few beers and a few tacos. Tacos were good, an 8 on a 1-10 scale... I wanted to give it the 5th star, but what started as a really nice visit, got annoying...beer ran out, so the keg needed replacing..took awhile for that, beer wasn't that cold, then when the bill came, I threw my credit card in the Little folder ( half sticking out).. And we waited and waited and waited..annoying.. Still worth visiting...nice little place,

Very cozy and neat place. Very friendly staff. Family run business. Definitely you should check this place out.

It is a very cozy and neat place. Lots of seats and tables inside. Their stuff are so friendly, you get the best smile from them. Food is also amazingly tasty, drinks are well mixed. Service is fantastic there. Definitely will be one of my favorite place in town.

Looking for that place that "know's your name?" Look no further than this welcoming and walk establishment. From friends or family night out - an exceptional place to stop. Great food served by skilled and friendly staff. On my top ten of American cuisine in the Upper Valley.

If you know me at all, and have read my reviews, you know my comfort food is a good burger and fries. I had forgotten how good Black Rock's burgers are! Perfectly cooked and reasonably priced. The fries were plentiful and delicious, and their bottled root beer was also quite good. Our server, Sue, was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. I am happy to have rediscovered Black Rock and first will be my "go to" restaurant whenever I am in the area.

But much like my dreams of finding consistently good Mexican food ever since I moved to the East Coast in 1995, a decent steak joint is nearly impossible unless you want to pay handsomely. Enter Black Rock Steakhouse. They want to be Black Angus, but fail on several points: ambiance, and... well... the meal overall. We got the tomahawk steak (split between two, it was beyond plenty). Thing is? It's promised "on a hot rock" - no hot rock. Also? Never have I ever had a Caesar salad with mozzarella. And the dinner rolls? Not only were they dry as a bone, they were also cold. Same with the Beef Tataki appetizer. Cold. The 'mint julep?" Barely a fleck of mint, no sugar - just watered down bourbon. And don't get me wrong, it's not that the food is terrible, it's not... it's 'just okay.' And if I want a date night with a great meal? Let's just say these guys appear to be thriving on being the only game in town, which is a total bummer, because they could be so much more.

I first heard of Country Girl after watching Chronicle approx. 2 year ago. The whole experience was awesome! We ordered drinks immediately after taking our seats at the counter. I had a pepsi and I had to order a vanilla milk shake to go! My wife had water and coffee. We wanted to get our order in because we felt like the staff was nice enough to let us in that we didn't want to stall them from getting out at closing. My wife had grilled cheese with tomato soup. I had a burger with fries. My wife was thrilled with the soup. She said it was the best tomato soup she has had in a long time! My fries were excellent. home made and tasty! You can see in the pictures that the diner is set up with booths and a counter top. I am told that they are busy year round. I can see why because the food and service is fabulous. The staff was so nice and welcoming! Price: fair Parking: plenty of parking in the lot Vibe: great music...welcoming Would I come back again? The positives: the portions were huge, wait staff was friendly. Apart from it having pretty bright lighting and being a little noisy... the interior is fairly charming being that it's a great old house and you can still see elements of its former life. The less positive-- I didn't care for the food, nor did my co-diners. The meatloaf was pretty dry. The burger looked like it was just a 'bubba burger' or some other mediocre frozen variety. The chicken parm was a huge piece of chicken but the sauce had an odd taste-- almost like it had a bit too much red wine in it or it wasn't cooked down enough-- so it was sort of sour? The soup was ok. It was extra cheesy. We would have traded in some of the cheese for some more broccoli. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great.

The food.........not so much. I started with a salad and while it was Fresh, it was very small. Hardly worth the effort. I ordered a stuffed haddock as my entree and it was delicious. Stuffed with crab and shrimp and really very well made. But the complete lack of attention to the side dishes and vegetables really ruined the experience for me. My baked potato must have been a day old and barely reheated. The butter wouldn't even melt on it. Others at the table said the same thing. And they served Brussels sprouts. I like my vegetables pretty crunchy. I don't overcook by any means. But these were served almost raw. I believe they were blanched but not cooked. And again, it was not just me. One lady in our party collected the leftover sprouts and said that she was taking them home to cook them. The menu had burgers and sandwiches on it. Maybe I would stick to that next time. So the meal was not terrible but it was not memorable either.
