In addition to the front desk, the team of veterinarians & vet techs is complemented by 2 excellent onsite groomers. I had the best service from Sherlock Bones! I'm new to town, so before I moved, I searched for a Veterinary clinic that would be close to home. Sherlock Bones was highly rated, so I contacted them, sent my little guy's records, and hoped I wouldn't need to see them for a while. I did end up needing flea prevention, so I called them and they set some aside for me. They even reminded me to come pick it up, which I appreciated.. because it slipped my mind. Then, my little guy got sick. I could tell something was wrong the night before because he was restless. Then, he threw up all morning. I called as soon as they opened and they got us right in! They treated us with kindness, patience, and respect. My little man ended up getting a shot and some subcutaneous fluids. That, along with lots of rest for the next 24 hours and he's back to normal. I'd absolutely recommend Sherlock Bones and am so happy that I found them. read more

My daughter went on vacation and left her dog, Clarabelle, with me. She had scheduled Clarabelle for surgery with Sherlock Bones, so that she could recover at my house without any other dogs. Evidently, my daughter pays a monthly fee to Sherlock Bones for some sort of package that was to cover her procedure. She had already set up everything ahead of time and even boarded her other dog with them. The morning of her surgery, my husband drove her from our home, 20 miles south of Indianapolis, to Carmel, to be dropped off at 7 a.m. I wake at 8 to several missed calls from my husband and a text to call him immediately. He tells me that when he got to Sherlock Bones, they presented him with a very high bill that had options/choices that he needed to make. He said the woman told him they had absolutely nothing on file for Clarabelle and that we had until 10 a.m. to call with a card to bill or come pick her up. Otherwise, no one could pick her up after surgery without paying this crazy high bill. I call; the woman confirms what my husband has said, and I tell her I'm on my way. I know my 21 year old daughter, on vacation...there's no way she's getting out of bed before 11/12. Nice way to wake up. Oh yes, I also had my 1 and 2 year old granddaughters that morning. So I had to make a mad dash to change diapers, get sippy cups, breakfast, the kitchen sink and 2 toddlers loaded up in to the car for the hour drive to Carmel...all of us in our nightclothes still and me with no coffee. The women at the desk were rude. The tech who went to get Clarabelle and brought her back to me was really sweet and pleasant. I just wanted to get the dog and get back home and put clothes on. Sure enough, my daughter wakes at 11:30 and gets my message. She calls Sherlock Bones first, and the receptionist blamed my husband and I. Like blatant lie that made absolutely no sense. After talking to her father and I both, she calls back and talks to someone else who admits the mistake was completely theirs and asks my daughter to reschedule. I have to say, between working in rescue for 5 years now and being a lifelong animal lover, I've been in a LOT of vet offices and paid many vet bills. I was completely floored when my husband gave me the copy of the bill they gave him. Honestly, I have yet to find a vet in Carmel that doesn't charge nearly double what vets in other areas charge. And Sherlock Bones definitely fits that bill. read more

I have used Sherlock Bones Animal Hospital as my veterinarian for years. We had the pleasure of being foster host to a 1 year old Black Lab and the team at Sherlock Bones fell in love with Dallas. They still ask about her and her Dad in Chicago. This week we had Rachel Smith the groomer give our fur baby Landry and spa day. She did an amazing job on him. He looks great and is feeling sassy. This is a team that holds your pets care like every client is their own pet. Our Synagogue had a pet parade and Sherlock Bones Animal Hospital stepped up and donated pet treats for us to hand out. I am on my second dog with Sherlock Bones and I love the vets, the staff and Allsion the groomer. I first tried Bones in 2005 when my Airedale terrier was just a puppy. We left the area for 5 years but when we moved back we choose SherlockBones again. You dont realize what you have until you leave. I am a proponent of pet insurance, both the daily and supplemental/ catastrophic type. Bones offers an inhouse insurance plan that is great and reasonable, and you can add the supplemental through an outside vendor if you choose. Not only is the vet staff great but Allsion the groomer is top notch. Grooming is no more expensive at Bones then anywhere else (at least not for a large sized dog) Allison has loved and treated both my dogs as if they were her own. I highly reccomend this practice. But like any doctor or vet YOU must be proactive and communicate with the staff. read more

I tried this vet clinic as my current vet was 30 minutes away and I wanted to find another place closer to home. Initially, I was very happy with the service. They get you in the door with a free exam but I have found that after that, it really felt like a money grab. This place is overpriced. The ran extra and unauthorized tests to run up the bill. I had exams where the doctor didn't note what we talked about then forgot. I sent previous veterinary records the vet didn't even review. Although customer service was good during my initial visits, the last year the front office staff was rude and not helpful. Nobody ever called with lab results, I had to call them. When I see inconsistencies, I am suspicious and this place is real good with marketing and putting on a front but I saw red flags..... Like including the lack of attention to detail such as no notes about the meds my dog was on during the January exam-no calls about results of blood work-and lack of helpfulness that make me not trust this place. Where there is smoke,there is fire and with the lack of attention to detail on record keeping and dishonesty, no way would I trust my dog there-they simply don't put the dogs first and are in it for the money. read more

I absolutely love Sherlock Bones! My golden retriever is scared of hair dryers and I've never been able to have her groomed anywhere successfully until we found Allison! She took her time with our dog and helped her work through her fears. It's not just Allison. The entire staff welcomes us and makes our dog feel very special and relaxed. By the time I go back to pick her up, she doesn't want to leave! This has never happened with a dog with terrible separation anxiety! I would not recommend this place unless you want to pay a lot for crappy service. My cat started to have issues after her spay and they ended up charging me 120 dollars to fix the issue on top of the 400 dollars I spent on the initial service. not an honest company they care more about money than helping animals. read more

We had been customers at this establishment since we got our dog.... and have given them thousands of dollars for their services and would have recommended then to anyone up until a few days ago.... The one day we needed them the most they let us down incredibly.... since their staff deleted my mother's Yelp review... I'll be posting as well and shall keep reposting....did not provide any guidance for my dog who was literally on her death bed, asked to bring her in for euthanasia .... after them knowing that her health was on a clear decline for the past 6 months, explained all her symptoms their response "we do that at the end of the day....you can bring her in tomorrow at 5:30 pm".... explained our dog was extremely suffering asked for medications to ease pains "fine you can bring her in today at 5".... in an annoyed tone while I was in the background bawling my eyes out.... ended up having to call a vet that could come to our house that morning, our dog was in heart failure and had fluid in her lungs...couldn't even keep her tongue in her mouth and they were willing to let our dog suffer 2 days before doing anything about it as If they couldn't be bothered by an urgent situation...even though the website clearly states that they do emergency situations like this in addition to house calls!!! read more

Firstly, we are a previous patient of this office with three dogs on file! My dog was having trouble breathing so my neighbor rushed us to the office. They took my pup to the back and evaluated. The vet came back and said she wanted to do xrays. I said okay, but don't go crazy, just find out what is blocking his breathing without unnecessary testing. She gave me some crap about wheezing in his right lung. (The little guy has been through a lot but NEVER had any issues or diagnosis of this in his 11 years of life)! As she left the room I heard the tech say he had coughed up something. Shortly there after, the vet came back and said "he did all the work, this was blocking his airway and he is back there doing great, and panting". They did the x ray (after the blockage was released) anyway to the tune of $195.00!!!! THEN the front desk rep said well would you like to go get your purse at home? I said, I will just take Woody home, and come back with my payment. She said, NO and that I would have to make payment before I left. (I live less than a mile away)!! So my neighbor GF, ran back and brought it to me. I was offended and very upset that they actually thought I would stiff them on payment, after already having spent +$2000 at that office. She said it was nothing personal....HA! Not only did they do unnecessary x rays to rack up the bill, and treat me like I was a thief or a untrustworthy patient; they also don't know how to run their credit card program....that is another story. It's evident why the place was empty and only 5 patients on the welcome board! Unless, your in dire need, ( and have your pocketbook with you, and lots of available funds) Go Elsewhere! read more

I would not go to this vet. My dog had had skin issues for the past two years and the vet could not give me any indication of how to get her hair to grow back or what was truly causing the issue. I went to another vet, and my dog was diagnosed with a skin and immune infection. I also paid for a blood allergy test and the new vet informed me that the blood allergy test is not accurate testing. The new vet informed me that Sherlock Bones should have been able to tell a skin infection was evident and should have been immediately diagnosed. I now have four antibiotics to give my dog, when Sherlock Bones would not give me one. They are awful. Only good thing are the receptionists. read more

Sherlock Bones is the best! A huge thank you to Dr. Paul and the wonderful staff for taking care of our two beloved pets. They were all so kind and understanding as our pets aged. Dr. Paul talked through all of our options when our dogs needed treatment. When our Clarence was ready to be put to sleep, the office stayed open after hours so our son could be there when the dog passed. They were all SO kind and understanding, and obviously love animals. I had to take my two guinea pigs to Dr Paul at Sherlock Bones Animal Hospital. They both had skin lesions, a couple of them bad, and also needed their nails trimmed. Many vets wont treat GPs, but will only trim nails and file down incisors. I found Dr Paul through Windemere Animal Hospital (its sister hospital)...Windemere is well-rated. I was very very pleased with the entire experience. Dr Paul and his assistant obviously have a strong affinity for animals and handled my piggies and their diagnoses and treatment gently and thoroughly. They both were loving and tender with them and explained the problem and the treatment thoroughly. I would highly recommend them and the hospital...and i am a very picky pet owner indeed! read more
