The inspiration for Beresford Manor came from the owners trips to France where they embraced the phrase art de vivre which translates to English as the art of living. The shop opened in 1993 and they have been in business for 30 years in downtown Lake Worth. As soon as you open the door you feel welcomed in both English and French. I came in looking for a birthday gift for a friend who loves lavender. I found the perfect item on a cart filled with bath items made with lavender from Provence. The narrow store is long and there are several rooms of linens, kitchen items, accessories, folding umbrellas, and personal care items from all over France. The melamine serving trays and bright colored placemats were especially pretty. They had a great selection of dish towels too as well as gorgeous fabric and wall paper so you can give your home the French country look. Prices ranged from a few dollars to much more. Service was top notch and friendly. I'll be back to shop for some Christmas presents.

The showroom is beautifully and professionally designed, making it easy to imagine pieces in your own home. What originally drew me in were their Instagram posts. They do an amazing job highlighting new arrivals and current sales, which makes it impossible not to stop by. Beyond furniture, lighting, and rugs, they also have the cutest gift shop with so many unique and creative gift ideas. My dad decided to drop me and my mom off to check out the store while he looked for parking. It's a full store with tons of items on racks, in cases, and on shelves. You really have to scrub through to look at everything. I saw a mix of brands like Dior, Chanel, YSL, and more throughout the store. Spotted bags like the tote bag from the Chanel Surf collection and it was reasonably priced, apparel from different brands, and accessories. Prices varied on the items based on brand and condition. The gentleman behind the register was friendly, but let us shop on our own for the most part. I think his wife was working there too and she was helpful as well. She noted they do not have a dressing room, but said if you needed to try something on, you could go into the room with special occasion dresses and try things on, as there are no windows or areas where anyone outside the store could see you changing. I did try on a crop top, but wasn't sure about buying it, due to some small holes and I questioned if the brand noted on it really ever made something like that. They are super welcoming and nice and will help you with whatever feels foreign to you once you're in there. Such personalized attention even though they were incredibly busy. I went after I got off work, which is around 11 AM. There must've been 30 or 40 people that all came in the door separately and on their own within the first 30 minutes I was there. They were absolutely slammed, but they made time to get to know me, even though it was my very first time in there and they didn't know me and there were clearly many longtime customers there. Everyone was cheerful and upbeat, and everybody got help with their projects. It is a very well oiled machine. The selection is so much fun! The staff is friendly and helpful and makes great recommendations. I had a 30 year-old project that I hadn't touched literally in decades that I wanted to revive and they helped me through every step of the project and made me feel like it was the most amazing thing they had ever seen, even though I started it when I was in my teens and I know it isn't. I just think we are so lucky to have a business like this in Palm beach! They also do finish work, which is outstanding and I will definitely be back again soon. This was such an unusual and oh so interesting store. And based on its name, I was expecting a…read morebookstore. Instead, this was like one of those intriguing and quaint museum shops with an eclectic mix of fascinating items. The store itself is off the beaten track -- literally -- as it is in a warehouse building across from the actual railroad tracks and north of 10th Avenue North. The location alone had us question if we were in the right place. They are only open on Saturdays plus during a few special events. And on Saturdays, it's only open from 11 am to 4 pm. You'll see a black and white sign out front (it says, "open today") indicating if they're open or not. If you like different things, specialty foods, and artisan goods, then this place is for you. As it was the beginning of January when we stopped by, they still had a bunch of their Christmas items --ornaments and gifts, nutcrackers, creches, etc. on display. We loved browsing through everything. And John and Seth, the owners, were more than happy to answer any questions. We were told that each item has its own story, if we were interested. There was a lot to look at and admire. Here are some of the things we saw -- and please note that the "stock" changes -- vintage cards, European foods and candies, jewelry, spices, ornaments, gifts, hand embroidered linens, chocolates, figurines, scented soaps, candles, toys, herbs, teas, potpourri, and even a few books. I'm sure I've missed some of the items. You could spend a lot of time just looking at everything. And it's all in two rooms. I'm so glad we stopped by. We got to taste some chocolate. We bought some lavender candies, and I got a lovely moon broach pin that I just adore. If you have time some Saturday, do stop by. They have some great gift items for that special someone or just to treat yourself, as I did.
