I have to admit, I'm a Sherwin-Williams paint fan, but, the service at Village Paint, a Benjamin…read moreMoore distributor, is worth betraying brand loyalty. (Ben Moore paint is high quality, it's just a preference.) Keith, Pam, and the whole staff are attentive, knowledgeable, and above all: patient. I typically come in with at least 2 of my 4 kids in tow, and it doesn't even phase them that I have to stop mid-sentence to grab my kid who is trying to escape to play in traffic. I'm really impressed with Pam's color coordinating service-we wanted a big change this year when we had our exterior painted and she was up to the challenge of finding something eye catching and a little out of the ordinary while also matching 2 slightly different roof colors (we have a detached garage). She's honest about what doesn't work! She won't just go along for the sake of it-she really wants your house to look nice. I really appreciate that. Check out Village Paint next time you need some paint instead of the big box stores where the folks behind the counter may or may not have ever picked up a brush or a roller in their life.

There were 6 salespeople sitting at desk. One finally came up and told us we would have to talk to a salesman. Took us back and the salesman told told him that he would have to call the company to get a quote. Went back to the showroom and he told one of the other men that he did know how the "f" to do that. He did not abbreviate that as I did. He did not know we heard him. A female tried to help but she also said we should come back when Brendt was there. Brendt only gave us the booklet I have never seen such bad customer service. I know Douglas Lumber was sold. They are getting a bad reputation when they always had a good one. Went directly to Coventry Lumber and they could not have been more professional! Guess I will be going to them from now on.

They gave him the run around about special orders and blamed Anderson. So I called spoke to Dave who said a manager will call me back. 3 days later no call back. So I emailed the owner Steve Carlino. The return was 2k on 50k orders AND I probably KT would have done my kitchen and floors with them for the house we are building. He instantly read my email. He forwarded my email to his GM (gotta love email tracking tools). 3 days later STILL not a peep. I call back "o yes the owner got your email he will be reaching out to you". 2 days later STILL no reply . One more call, one more left message. Finally, Steve gets back to me with a BS answer same as his team gave my builder. BUT he did offer that if I spent another 75k (do my kitchen or floors with them) he'd give me a 2k credit. And then I could sell the windows on Craigslist. So I replied ...... and as expected received no reply. Hello Steven, I'm sorry to bother you on vacation and I hope the weather in Florida is as good as we had in Juno beach a few weeks ago. I tried contacting the management at Douglas and when I spoke with someone (Dave?) he was going to call me back and never did. I then took it upon myself to reach out to you directly over the weekend. A few more calls (3 to be exact) with the same results this week until your email now. The customer service experience so far has been lack luster to say the least. I'm pretty firm with our return policies too and sometimes we go over and above the polices when it makes sense to satisfy a customer, especially a new customer. It's pretty disappointing to hear the solution is: spend another 50k with Douglas then we will credit $2,000, which is something I'd likely get the sales rep to give me anyways in normal negotiations and "builder" discounts and so forth. Also I'll strap these windows to my roof, drive them home, and as you said go sell the two windows on Craiglist to a stranger. Maybe I'll invite him him to meet the kids and play with the dog. If it is your final decision to not put the product on your "Boneyard" Close-Out & Discontinued Items section and not refund or credit my builder or me the $2,500 for the two standard double hung santone windows then so be it. I will share my unpleasant experience with Douglas Lumber with our community and social media to let people know how my customer experience has been. Maybe me being a customer is insignificant to you (seems the way it is) and while margins are low as you say, they aren't that low. Even at a low 20% margin, which I am sure you make north of that, you still make 10k and minus 2.5k still leaves 7.5k on the bone, makes a customer happy, and likely would get repeat business for flooring and our kitchen. Don't bother setting up a store credit as we likely won't be purchasing anything else from Douglas Lumber. There are so many other companies who provide the same or similar products, the real differentiator for any non-OEM is customer service. Enjoy the rest of the vacation time.

Lisa, spent a good deal of time with us answering questions and providing recommendations to our project. She gave us lots of information to digest and she was great letting us know about a sale that would start the next day and would last over the weekend. At almost $70/gallon of stain, any sale would be welcome! The Sherwin-Williams company dates from 1866, when Cleveland bookkeeper Henry Sherwin invested in Truman Dunham & Co., a paint distributorship. After the partnership dissolved in 1870, he formed Sherwin, Williams, & Co. with Edward Williams and A.T. Osborn. For its first factory, in 1873 the company acquired a cooperage in Cleveland from Standard Oil. Sherwin-Williams was incorporated in Ohio on July 16, 1884, two years after Osborn sold his interest in the company while retaining the retail operations. The company grew through acquisitions and expansions in the late 19th and early 20th century. In the early 1920s, the company became the largest coatings manufacturer in the U.S. Sherwin-Williams experienced a downturn in the 1970s, and Gulf and Western Industries unsuccessfully attempted to take over in that time. The company recovered by fending off the raid and undergoing a series of acquisitions in the 1980s and 1990s, as well as divesting its non-coatings businesses. The company operates more than 2,500 stores worldwide.
