I was simply looking for standard color coordinating materials, whether that be booklets or other SW materials. When I asked an employee for help I was told, "I cannot answer any questions about color choice due to lawsuits. SW has been sued too many times by unhappy customers so we no longer provide color suggestions." This was the opposite of Benjamin Moore who literally sent an employee out to my home FOR FREE to look at the offending color and make thoughtful suggestions. Guess where I bought the 100 gallons of paint needed? I went back again (shame on me) to buy a SW paint sample. I'd narrowed it down to two colors and wanted to test it in situ. Walked in and asked for the color by name and a paint sample. The first thing I was asked with much disdain was whether I'd pre-ordered it. No, I had not thought to pre-order a sample size paint, and I'd need it mixed. With even more disdain, he asked if I should just go get the paint chip. No, I said, I wanted to put it on the wall and would need the sample. With much huffing and puffing, he began to fill out an order form, which seemed unnecessary, but it's not my process. He began to explain that their samples were made of recycled paint and wash off with soap and water. I said no, I don't want it to wash off, I just want a small container of paint, and asked if they carried small sizes of paint. He told me that I should just go with the sample unless my color choice was final. Huh? I'm not sure if this was because I was a woman or if he treats all his customers as if they have no idea how paint works, but it turns out I know my own mind well enough to know that I wanted to buy a small sample size of paint. I said I would just like the paint if he would sell it to me, and he again tried to tell me that what I really needed was the soap washable color in the most patronizing, condescending, eye rolling way possible. Guess who walked out and went straight to Lowes? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me I guess, but I'll never be back, that's for darn sure.

They simply did not want to take the return because it was a different location. That is unprofessional and not how business should be done.

I had heard that there was a color consultant at Dunn Edwards that helped in selection of paint color. I made an appointment with Vanessa (who had been recommended by a previous contractor), and was totally impressed with her expertise and ability to help me. I brought in samples of my cabinet, countertop, and floor tile, and she initially narrowed the selections to 5 possibilities that could work. Then one by one, we together discussed what and why one selection would fit my needs. Her professionalism, knowledge, exceptional customer service and courteous and friendly demeanor helped make what could have been an arduous task into an enjoyable one. It is part of the customer service offered at this particular Dunn Edwards. My contractor highly recommended Dunn Edwards paint over what is offered at big box stores.
