I have been going to these guys for years and they are in a word: awesome. Incredibly fair, honest, and talented. In my Family's three cars over the years, they have diagnosed and repaired a myriad of problems and been very honest about what repairs are truly essential for safety and reliability and what repairs can be delayed. We have a 2016 Ford F150, an old 2005 Volkswagen Passat manual, and a 2009 Toyota Sienna. They keep us running great. They are often pretty backed up and so it takes a couple of weeks to get service but a couple of times when we had emergencies they took care of us right away. I try never to ask for rushed service but once or twice that I have needed it they have come through for me and him working extra hours to keep me on the road. Sherwood Auto recently replaced a turn signal bulb for me. After the repair I noticed the audible alarm reminder to remove the key fob would stay on indefinetly until I exited the carand shut thedoor. Previously it would beep a few times and stop before I left the car. Also the headlights were staying on 5 minutes or more. After 8 days of this nusiance I had enough and called the shop. The owner told me bring my car in and they woul take a look. One of the mechanics took one lookand noticed the setting for automatic operation had changed. He reset it to automatic and all was back to normal. Kudos for such excellent service and old fashion custoer service. My family has brought their cars to George for 15+ years. I will continue this tradition and do the same. I know nothing about cars and they explain everything and don't rip you off! I've had things fixed for very affordable prices and they've looked at my car for free when it is determined to be a non-issue. Seriously great auto shop. I've taken my car here several times for work, following the recommendation of several friends who swear by them. The quality of the work is great but almost more importantly, they are honest. I've been dicked over by other auto shops before, so I'm suspicious of anyone holding a wrench. I usually have friends (who indeed know what they are doing) diagnose my problems and tell the shop I bring it to exactly what I want done. I'm that guy. I'm not sorry. Recently though, an unsettling noise came up in one of my wheels and my usual car wizards were busy. I brought it into Sherwood telling them "Car make scary noise. You please fix." Before they told me they'd take care of it, they had the tech who'd be working on it take a ride with me so that they made sure they knew which noise they'd be checking out. I was bracing myself for a new rear armature or corroded piston whistles but it turned out to be a pretty simple fix. Every time they've worked on my car their prices have been absurdly fair and I always know what I'm paying for. Trustworthy & competent with reasonable prices. Do it. read more

I first brought my car to Sherwood because a friend of a friend works there, but I've been returning ever since because of the thorough and honest service I have consistently received. In fact, I just got a call from George because he realized that I should have gotten a rebate for a new muffler the last time I brought my car in. He wanted to let me know that he was filling it out for me so that I could get some money back. Does your mechanic do that? Didn't think so. read more

I don't understand all these glowing reviews. I followed those reviews last year and took my car to Sherwood. George, the owner, was charming, and I got good service the first couple of times. But since then... not so much. I had a mixed experience last time I took the car there, and then today it was terrible. I took my car in because it had an engine light on and a rough idle. The Sherwood mechanic called back to say that the car needed a new catalytic converter, and said that new one would cost $2000+ (just the part), so he found me a used one for $950.... plus $300 labor. First I called the VW dealership and was told that a brand new catalytic converter is $1100, not $2,000. Then I called another nearby mechanic and was told they could get me a new one for $600, with $200 labor. To top things off, when I called Sherwood, George was anything but apologetic when I told him about the bad information his mechanic had given me. Then, when I came to pick up the car to take it to the more reasonably priced mechanic, George was aggressively unpleasant. So buyer beware at Sherwood Auto. read more

After years of going to this shop, I just recently had to take our car in, and very quickly felt less like their long term customer, and more like another source of income. The quotes I was given seemed incredibly high, so I asked about using my resource for parts (which had never been an issue in the past), only to be told that they make a certain amount of money off the parts too, and that if they aren't going to be making that money, then it isn't worth them doing the work for me. I know I shouldn't take it personal when it came to business, but I did. This has been my mechanic since I owned my first car, and now even my 5 year old daughter knew him by name. Do not get me wrong though, I will not say a negative word about the work they do, as everything they fix for us, always works like a charm when they are done. And I understand he needs to run a business, but I need to support a family. So after those quotes, I sadly had to take my business elsewhere. read more

Superb service in every way. More than that, it was above and beyond. Our Fiat needed a part. The dealer failed to deliver on Friday when promised. Would you believe that they drove to the dealer on Saturday, when Sherwood is not open to pick the part up! George wanted to have the car ready for is as early as possible on Monday morning. We had several calls keeping us updated about the delay in Friday. The work was excellent and the price very reasonable. This was our first visit to Sherwood, but will not be our last. We are very happy new customers. We can most definitely recommend Sherwood Auto highly. read more

They have never attempted to up-sell me and they have actually given my car back to me without doing any work when they have found nothing wrong with it. Not only is George an honest, hard-working small businessman, but also, he has a great instinct for hiring people. He doesn't mess around. He and his team are efficient, knowledgable, and will keep you & your car safe without charging you a penny more than they need to. They are excellent at what they do, and they provide respectful customer service. They will explain things in ways you'll understand even if you don't know a thing about your car.
