I thought maybe it was because it's an Asian restaurant and there are so many different ingredients and foods being prepared, so I didn't think too much about it. We sat down, and someone showed us where the meats and vegetables were, along with the menu and the prices. This is where I felt the restaurant was a little overpriced for what the hot pot actually consisted of. Unfortunately, this was not one of my favorite hot pot places. The meats and vegetables didn't really impress me, especially with the presentation. They reminded me more of what you would find at a regular Asian market rather than what I expected from a restaurant at this price point. The soups and sauces, however, were really good. We did enjoy our meal, but overall, I just didn't feel like the experience was worth the price. One thing I thought would be fun for my kid and family was the robot that comes around the restaurant. The problem is that during our visit, it only came around once, so it wasn't really much of an experience. I'm glad I finally tried this place since it's so close to me, but based on my experience, I probably wouldn't come back. There are other hot pot places I've enjoyed much more.

Our server, Sylvia, was very kind and told us she would ask the manager if an exception could be made so our friend wouldn't have to go without eating. Shortly afterward, the manager, Kareem, came to our table and simply stared at me without saying a word. I politely asked whether Sylvia had passed along our request, and he responded rudely by saying, "No, this is the policy, and if you don't like it, you can leave. That's life." To be clear, we understand that businesses have policies, and we respect that. What bothered us was not the decision itself but the hostility and lack of professionalism. I was polite throughout the interaction, and had the response been delivered respectfully, we would have gladly stayed. Instead, we decided to leave without eating. I also want to emphasize that Sylvia was extremely kind and professional. Unfortunately, the interaction with the manager left a very negative impression. Both savory and sweet. Another obsession is the asago dessert which is a tapioca pearls, black beans, fruits and jelly in a sweet coconut milk. Bashu Hot Pot had the best broth -- we always get the Sichuan Spicy and the Beef Tallow, and have never been disappointed. The pots have a little sectioned off area that holds the peppercorns and other aromatics, and the longer the broth sits, the more those spices diffuse into the broth. My husband nearly died when he ordered the Extra Spicy and learned his lesson by the end of our visit. But, the broth is so good, we always come back for more. The selection of meats, seafood, and vegetables is fresh and varied! We've brought some picky eaters and everyone is always able to find stuff that they like. The sauce bar is also great.
