Food was ok. I had the chicken shoyu ramen, squid karrage and takoyaki. I really enjoyed the takoyaki however the octopus in the middle was quite small. Ramen was fine. Broth was good but minimal flare for the price. Everything, like even an egg, was at an added on. I did not like the squid. It lacked flavor and was greasy and chewy. Just not for me. Came all the way to Kent from Bonney Lake because there's absolutely no ramen restaurant nearby. I Love Ramen in Federal Way was closing in 30 mins, so I obviously couldn't make it then. I decided to drive to Kent for this restaurant because of the enticing food photos. I came in and was able to be seated right away. I ordered Karaage Chicken and Pork Tonkotsu. The items were delish! The portions were very generous. As bonus, I also got pork fried rice as well for to-go dinner for my husband. I think there was only 1 waitress for the entire restaurant on Wednesday evening as it wasn't very busy. Anyway, she was still working her best ability to serve everyone. read more

Spot 12/52 in my NY resolution to try one new (to me) local spot every week! I went out to Shibu Ramen with one of my best friends for a late birthday dinner. When she suggest ramen I was puuumped because I had been craving it for a while! We went on a Friday night and there was no wait. Service was kind. They are doing a good job of adhering to Covid regulations, i.e. masks, gloves, and socially distancing everybody. We were given menus and told to press a call button in the middle of the table when we were ready. I love this! We didn't feel rushed, and the waitress didn't have to keep coming back multiple times to check if we were ready. More restaurants should definitely do this. I got the chicken wings for an appetizer and the Spicy Garlic Tonkatsu Ramen. The chicken wings were good, but I wish they came with some sort of sauce? I was expecting them to be tossed in something, but it was just fried chicken. Good, but needed more to it. The Spicy Garlic Tonkatsu was DELICIOUS. I'm pretty dedicated to my usual ramen spot, but Shibu does serve up a tasty bowl of ramen. It was just spicy enough to make me cough a few times, but not too spicy where it eradicated the rest of the flavor. If you're on a hot date, maybe skip the Garlic Ramen, because the taste and smell lingered on me for a WHILEEE. So worth it though. I was very excited to try a new-to-me ramen joint and a friend chose this spot for their birthday dinner. Between the lot of us we tried a number of things - chicken karaage, geso karaage, wings and the pork baos. On top of the share plates I also ordered the miso tonkotsu for my ramen. We all shared the same feedback that the appies, although fresh and served with good portions, were otherwise all lacking in their respective flavours. The two types of karaage and wings were not well seasoned and the pork belly in the bao was bland. We found ourselves dunking every bite in the sriracha mayo that was served alongside the karaage. The miso tonkotsu was definitely better - I enjoyed the creaminess and salty umami flavours in the broth, as well as the spice paste they used. My one gripe with the ramen is that the seasoned egg was cut in half upon being served, which dried it out considerably - it was closer to hard boiled than soft boiled. My husband also ordered the curry katsu and had to ask for a new side of rice because his came out cold, dry and crispy. It may have been an off night for the kitchen but I do want to share that the servers did their best - they were attentive and very kind throughout. My friend introduced me to Shibu Ramen at Kent Station. I had a bed experience ramen shop many times at famous place and hadn't eaten ramen for a while. I ordered same name of Shibu Ramen and chosen Spicy one with Chijire noodle: spicy rich pork broth, pork chashu, straight noodles, egg, kimchee. My friend ordered Miso Tonkotsu Ramen: rich pork broth, pork chashu, corn, straight noodle, egg. All ramen includes menma, bean sprouts, green onion and yu choy I enjoyed Shibu Ramen Spicy one. I'm glad, not salty soup, good chigire noodle (is a curly noodles), egg and chashu...everything made me happy. My friend miso tonkotsu also good miso and tonkotsu soup and not salty. This place is perfect for a rainy, cold day. No, it's not the best ramen you'll ever get in your life (we aren't in Japan lol), but it really hits the spot if you're looking for soup and noodles. My boyfriend got a side of extra noodles, and this place is one of the places that actually gives you a good amount of extra noodles for the price. We ordered a geso kaarage which was a little oily, but delicious.. I love fried anything. The broth is good, but isn't as rich and flavorful as broths you would get from higher end ramen places. The noodles were also a little softer than I like, but again this isn't a high end ramen place... so don't expect that when you come in. A good experience for ramen at Kent Station. The broth was flavorful and best of all no wait to be seated. The only disappointment I had was that their standard ramen noodle in all of our full size orders was a thin straight noodle and not the typical chewy wavy noodle. Oddly enough, the keiki (kids) ramen did have the curvey noodle which I much prefer over the thin straight noodle. The straight noodles really took away from my experience. It tasted a bit like store bought dry noodles that you can buy at the local Asian grocery store. The charsiu portion was pretty generous, but was not nearly as tender as other places I e tried. Wish they would have mentioned there we're two types of noodles when we ordered. Gyoza and seaweed salad were very good. Tonkotsu ramen needs to have a rich creaminess to it - that's why people love tonkotsu ramen: for its heavy and fatty flavor. But this broth was so thin and bland that eating the ramen was purely for survival, not enjoyment. They also forgot to give me an egg, which made the overall experience even less enjoyable (Ramen lovers will know what I'm talking about.. That egg is essential!) Hmm - this place is a pass. There really isn't any good ramen restaurants in the area (other than Orenji in Issaquah) and it was unfortunate that the ramen here was blander than most. Good noodles broths across East Asia have an emphasis on a mild aftertaste and deep flavor when tasting. I had the Shio ramen and there just wasn't any depth to the flavor? The noodles themselves felt like they were bought from the refrigerated noodles section and given a quick boil... there was nothing pleasant about the ramen. The pork slices that came with it were also not that great and a bit flavorless except for some bits of fat on the edge. The takoyaki was fine, though the sauce was a bit much and could've been a little bit milder to complement the mayo. The okonomiyaki was a surprise, not in a good way, simply because it's made up more of flour than any of the other ingredients combined. Sure you get a taste of the lettuce and the same sauce used for the Takoyaki, but is that really what you wanted to get from a platter of Okonomiyaki? This is probably not the place for foodies to visit but if you have a colleague or friend who appreciates a bit of blandness in their lives, this place is for them. read more

Spacious and loungy restaurant that is clean with lots of natural light. Our server was super friendly and made sure all of our orders were correct and was super attentive to our party. I ordered the spicy tonkatsu ramen for around $11.50 and it came out looking real purty. Garlicky, flavorful, and a rich broth that was spiked with garlic and chili oil. While the broth was really tasty, the noodles themselves were pretty bland and didn't hold onto the soup well. It wasn't my favorite type of noodle, pretty thin and flavorless and it really needed the spices and flavors of the broth to make it a cohesive dish. While the noodles themself weren't that great, I also was really happy to see a full soft boiled egg inside my ramen - I feel like ramen joints lately have been getting stingy only serving a half of a boiled egg in the ramen as opposed to the whole. I would probably come back here if I was craving ramen in the area but the fact that it was also a Saturday during dinner time and the restaurant wasn't packed validated my feeling that the ramen was good but not great. read more
