    New England corn chowder

This restaurant is located on the border of Maryland and Washington, DC, at the intersection of Wisconsin and Western Avenue. I've been to The Capital Grille in Scottsdale, and the menu and flavors here are very similar. However, the decor at this location really stands out--it has a sense of history and a museum-like feel, almost like a collection of national treasures. I especially loved the bronze statues throughout the space. I ordered the oysters for lunch, and they were an excellent choice--fresh, briny, and very refreshing. Service is a little bit disappointed, everything takes a little a bit long to come up.

This self-proclaimed "upscale chophouse" restaurant chain has NEVER disappointed me. The SERVICE is impeccable and the food is just perfect. IYKYK. Sunday, 12/21/25 was a planned Christmas dinner with my grown children before they scatter off in different directions (with their significant others) for the holidays. BEST choice for our family dinner. We're not newbies but every visit is a treat and an honor for us. From the prosciutto wrapped mozzarella to the butternut squash bisque to the PERFECTLY seasoned/seared filet mignon to the coconut cream pie and EVERY other starter, entree, dessert and cocktail enjoyed this evening is the reason why we remain faithful, repeat patrons. This location (Bethesda) is more vintage/traditionally decorated than the others. Personally, I prefer the aesthetics of the McLean, VA location but grateful to dine in any of them! Enjoy the pics. May your mouth water and stomach growl profusely and quickly entice you to visit any one of the locations in the DMV. When you do, share your thoughts and tell them you saw it on Yelp.

Pan-Fried Calamari with Hot Cherry Peppers

To be fair, it was Christmas Eve as many local office parties were winding up this place was getting hot. Folks already buzzed, arriving, looking to spend more time with their work associates. Crowded. Our server Heather dealt with all of the masses in stride. Bar tenders were super busy and unfortunately left cocktails in the shakers too long and not only was the old-fashioned. Very watered down, but my vodka martini was as well. Poor rating on the cocktails- high rating on the service, mid rating on the food. The oysters Casino arrived at the table lukewarm. Normally you have to let them hang out for at least five minutes to cool down after they've been out of the salamander obviously, these were sitting on the line for longer than that. The fried calamari with hot peppers arrived hot, crisp, filling, and the peppers helped balance the greasiness of the calamari. The sliced New York took some time to arrive. It arrived at perfect temperature however, I've never seen such a small New York. I understand this was the happy hour menu, but I saw several other of those appetizers go by with much bigger portions. The food took so long to get out we actually consumed eight drinks between the two of us and were not at all buzzed when we left. I expected more in this neighborhood and I really miss Ruth Chris in Bethesda.

We had the best waitress! If possible ask for Makayla when you visit the Capital Grille. The steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly! We ordered Bone In Ribeyes and sides Calamari, Mash Potatoes, Corn, Brussel Sprouts, Creamed Spinach and Cup of Chowder. Overall the sides were good but just average. The Calamari had too many peppers and was not crispy. The New England Chowder was good. Also, the bread was fresh and delicious. Cocktails were great! We had Espresso Martinis, Margaritas and Moscato. The atmosphere was very nice and festive for the holidays or special occasion!! Parking is very convenient. They usually give a 2 Hour Complimentary parking pass but that may be subject to change. Business will definitely increase since the Cheesecake Factory is closing in Friendship Heights.

Always a pleasant experience here! The lobster bisque is rich and creamy and the lamb lollipops are tender and juicy, perfect afternoon snack. Excellent service and consistently good food!

At Capital Grille, you know what to expect. The portions are a good size and the price isn't too over the top. I had the sea bass this time around and although I typically get a steak, it was a nice piece of fish with a yummy sauce. We had a baby at the table this time around and no one seemed to mind so while it cab have an upscale feel, it's still family friendly.

Capital Grille is a fantastic steakhouse with superb service. We had Alexander, I believe that was his name, and was he great. Attentive, very knowledgeable and made our youngsters laugh a bit. I asked for him the second time i was there a week or two later. The lobster and crab cake is a good starter and can share this with another person. Wasn't expecting much lobster, but there was! Their shellfish platter to start sets the mood for a great dinner to be had. You come here to get steak and does not disappoint. The kona crusted ny strip had a great char and so juicy inside. Great sauce. The star though was this porcini ribeye. Such great flavor. I highly recommend this ribeye. The sides were okay, being mashed potatoes, spinach with garlic, and mushrooms. For desserts, the chocolate cake was a standout. The lava cake was a snooze, and their coconut cake was good too. The atmosphere is old school country club style, with lots of wood, carpet, making it easy to converse with your table mates. They got rid of their valet parking but it's kind of a waste since you can park anywhere in the vast parking garage. Good place for private parties too. They have two or three rooms to rent and we used this two times for small family birthday parties.

Mariana set the tone with her warm welcome, and the service from start to finish was nothing short of impeccable. Noe, our server, quite literally never left our table the entire visit -- which was both incredibly attentive and honestly a little funny. Drinks were refilled before we even realized, plates cleared seamlessly, and recommendations were spot on. The food was outstanding, cooked to perfection, and beautifully presented. What stood out most was how the staff elevated the experience while still keeping it comfortable and enjoyable. Overall, a 5/5 visit that I'd recommend to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience.

Birthday dessert- I think it was tiramisu and crem brûlée

We splurged for a birthday date night and another time to take out my mother in law! I don't remember our waiters name but he was a tall older man who works the top floor section near the stairs and he took care of us both times! He was really kind and provided great service. I ordered the Waygu steak which was a special for that day and it was sooo delicious and tender. My husband really enjoyed his ribeye and my mother in law has the Cod which she loved. On my birthday I ordered the scallops which was perfect. And the dessert they served me along with the surprise table decorations was all perfect! Thank you capital grille, we will be back soon!

This restaurant is always delicious and wonderful, I love eating the salads here because there's always a gigantic portion size, and it was absolutely delicious! The steak was really nicely cooked, and we got it added to both our salads for a little extra but it was worth it. Calamari was so crisp and came with pickled peppers, which were so nice. Waiter was courteous and kind as always and we had a great time at this very fancy, nice restaurant! Great spot to catch up with friends.

Happy Birthday to me! Had a steak - She had a crab cake - I had the tall red liquor drink with fizzies in it - we had the humongous desert and I am not sure what it was - it was yummy and coconutty creamy and whip creammmy! Love the place!

Birthday celebration on Friday, 1/23/2026. Dinner was delicious. Toasted Almond was made for me to perfection even though it was not on the menu. This is probably our fifth visit. We had a great time. Our host Jose was fantastic. Only sore spot: they were extremely busy and forgot to put a dessert in our to go bag. No hard feelings. We will return. We ordered lamb chops and sea bass. My favorite was actually the salad. So fresh.

Little Blackbird is phenomenal!…read more I've been here a few times and have never been disappointed. Great service from super friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff. A large wine list that they know back to front and can recommend wines from based on your food choices and personal tastes. An elegant but not ostentatious interior. But first and foremost, incredible food. There have been a few items I was unsure of when reading the descriptions, but I have always been blown away by the thoughtfulness and balance that comes with each or their dishes. Of note, their seared scallops that came with a savory and sweet white chocolate sauce were one of my favorite dishes of 2025. Not to mention, the prices here are reasonable and not unnecessarily inflated like other places that market themselves as wine bars. I hope the success here signals a shift in the wine bar model toward unpretentious but thoughtfully designed dishes for a reasonable price. Overall, Little Blackbird is an incredible restaurant that I think deserves more recognition. I will certainly be back soon.

The pork chop was surprisingly so good with its caramelisation, side fruit and veggies, and sauce. I loved the gingerbread martini with the cookie and whipped cream drink itself. Baklava was apparently alcoholic and tasted good. The vibes here were pretty chill but also somewhat nice - they had some winter decor up too when I went. I'd definitely come again to try some of their other stuff and maybe their fun wine pairings!

The dining room decor is straight out of Paris and provides a pleasing environment for conversation and people-watching. The food was good. The brunch menu has something for everyone. I had the Caesar Salad and the Steak Frites. Both were solid. Were they the best I ever had? No, but certainly more than satisfying. Boy, does she look beautiful now!!! Last time I reviewed this restaurant, I was underwhelmed by the dining room. It was generic, dated and - my main memory - the floor was greasy and slippery. Now, the renovations show a beautiful new restaurant with high end finishes and fancy decor. Whoever redecorated this place did a fabulous job! So, I take back my old review and state very clearly that Mon Ami Gabi in Bethesda is stunning, first rate and very high end looking. The food was very good. We started with escargot and mussels. The mussels were a bit bland in my opinion. Yes, there was garlic, yes, there was onion, yes there was wine but the overall flavor was just sort of mediocre. The escargot, on the other hand, were beautifully cooked, prepared and seasoned. The garlic and other seasonings turned what is really just a garden pest into delightful little bite of intense flavor. I loved them! For our main courses, 3 of us got beef. Of course, it was well prepared. The French fries were crisp, hot and lightly salted. I did not want to share them. My zero-proof drink was lovely! I had the grapefruit cooler and it was a perfect balance of tart, sweet and bubbly. This place paid a lot of attention to a non-alcoholic beverage. That says a lot to me!!! The service was not up to the beautiful appearance of the dining room. We had spotty attention and a lack of focus from our waiter. At the end of the evening, they really rushed us out. But, overall, I am impressed with what has happened at Mon Ami Gabi. Will I be back? Oh yes! Do I recommend it? Definitely!

Barcelona was okay but has room for improvement…read more I checked out the menu and other Yelp reviews before visiting. Many of the reviews mentioned the loud music, tightly packed tables, and lukewarm food, which is exactly what I experienced. I don't want to feel like I'm in a club, watch servers barely squeak by my table, or eat room temp food. We visited on Sunday night for a 6 PM reservation. The place was busy but not full, and got a little busier by the time we left around 7:15 PM. There was a small line at the host stand, but people were quickly seated. The host initially took us to a two-top next to a four-top that had a baby in a high chair and some kids books/toys nudging into our table space. We politely asked for a different table, which the host accommodated, but we shouldn't have to ask; they should give guests more space proactively. Our waiter was not particularly friendly or helpful. He asked us about allergies, but did not offer to explain the menu, make recommendations, or anything else. I overheard the waiter at the table next to us telling his table all about the menu and warning them to order any large dishes early, because they can take up to 45 minutes to prepare. We got no such advice; thankfully, we didn't plan to get any large dishes. I do appreciate that the food pacing was pretty good, all the dishes came out quickly and were cleared quickly, and our waiter offered us another piece of bread later (for a dish that only came with one piece and should have come with two...). We got a pitcher of red sangria ($38) which was 4 glasses worth. The sangria tasted fine but was very generic; nothing special, not much fruit, lots of ice. The server who poured it for us did it in a very noisy, distracting way -- shaking it a lot to get the ice to settle, struggling to balance the amount of ice in each glass, spilling some ice on the floor. It was unpleasant and almost comical. We tried eight different tapas dishes: Eggplant Caponata ($7.5), Rainbow Carrots ($8.5), Whipped Sheep's Cheese ($8.5), Cauliflower ($9.5), Grilled Chicken Thigh ($10.5), Bacon-Wrapped Dates ($8.5), Jamon and Manchego Croquetas ($7.5, four pieces), and Lamb Merguez ($10.5). Everything was pretty good. The best dishes were the Sheep's Cheese and Chicken Thigh. The cheese was a nice portion and worked well with the honey. It only came with one piece of bread and should have come with two. Also, although the bread had grill marks on it, it was not warm at all, barely room temperature. The chicken was excellent all around -- tender, salty, spicy, with a very nice green sauce. All the other dishes were ok but had room to improve. The croquetas -- which I love in any form -- had a nice, crunchy exterior and a soft interior that reminded me of mashed potatoes. I wouldn't say they tasted particularly like jamon and manchego, though. The bacon-wrapped dates -- also a favorite dish -- were fine if a bit sweet; the blue cheese on the plate cut this a bit, but I wanted more flavor from the bacon, which was lost against the sweetness of the date. The carrots looked pretty but had different levels of doneness -- some softer or harder than others -- and I wanted more flavor from the sauce. The lamb merguez came with fava hummus and both tasted bland. The eggplant did not have a uniform heat level -- some pieces hot, some room temp -- and I disliked the sauce, which reminded me of sweet BBQ sauce in a negative way. The cauliflower was underwhelming; the sauce needed to be punchier and the dish needed another ingredient, like a few crunchy nuts. I would like to see the restaurant turn down the music, give diners more space, and tweak many of the dishes. It was an okay meal but I wouldn't return.
