Still one of my favorite steakhouses in Bethesda/Chevy Chase area. My favorite appetizers are the clam chowder, lobster crab cakes, Wedge Salad and the Cold shellfish platter. For the Cold shellfish platter, they serve you shrimp cocktail, oysters, lobster claws and lobster tails. For steaks, my go to is the Kona crusted NY Strip and the Porcini-Rubbed Bone-In Ribeye. They are so good. Order them medium-rare. It's so tender and flavorful. You honestly can't go wrong with any of their steaks. You can also add the Kona crust or porcini rub to any of their steaks as well. I actually had their Pan-Seared Sea Bass with Miso Butter last night for dinner (4/24/2026). Let me tell you, this was one of the best fish I've had. The fish was so good - melt in your mouth goodness. The miso sauce complements this dish so well. For sides, the creamed spinach, mashed potatoes and Au Gratin Potatoes are my favorites. For dessert, the Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake is the one to get. They do have a kid's menu and for larger parties they do require a private dining room. They validate up to three hours in the parking garage, so parking is free. Service has always been top-notch. Beautifully designed restaurant space with dark wood tones, warm lighting and oil paintings. Evokes a traditional American and steakhouse vibe. We were seated right away in a booth near the bar area. We were there to take advantage of a promotion, wagyu and wines event. One could order a Wagyu burger platter (3 different varieties) that came with sea salt fries. Cost would be $35 with the wine, $10 less without the wine. The burger would be paired with Orin Swift red wines (4 different kinds). The waitstaff also provided a happy hour as well as regular dinner menu for those who want options. We got the Wagyu. I ordered the bleu cheese and truffle burger with the Cabernet Sauvignon. We also added the mushroom truffle arancini appetizer from the happy hour menu. Minutes after ordering we got the complimentary bread basket. It was warm and covered by a white napkin. It included crisp flatbread, 2 pieces of onion focaccia, 2 poppyseed rolls and 2 pieces of brown bread with raisins. Bread was tender on the inside and slightly chewy on the outside, very fresh. Every type was delicious. The arancini were gold ball sized (5) and topped with Parmesan sitting on a thick rich sauce. The interior had creamy risotto and black mushroom. A great starter and not too heavy. The burgers were thick patties (cooked medium) with a perfect outside char. Inside was lightly pink and very juicy. It was topped by blue cheese, truffle, Bibb lettuce, tomato and pickles, topped by a poppyseed brioche bun. Was rich and yummy, everything went well together. Fries were crisp. My companion had the mushroom Swiss burger and enjoyed. Wine was smooth, fruity and had great depth, with no bitterness. It shone almost as much as the Wagyu. Service was excellent and gracious. Though the dining area got full it never got noisy. A great place for a romantic dinner or drinks with colleagues. read more

I've been enjoying The Capital Grille for over 20 years, and it continues to be one of my favorite go-to spots. On our recent visit, Nikki was our bartender, and she did a great job. She was handling the entire downstairs on her own, and you could tell she could have used a little more support -- especially when it gets busy and she's running up and down. Even so, she stayed attentive and provided very good service. The food, as always, was excellent. We had the French onion soup, which never disappoints, and of course, I still love the bread basket. The only small note is that I wish the shallot butter sauce was available earlier in the day -- but that just means we'll plan a later visit next time. Overall, great service, great food, and a place we'll absolutely keep coming back to -- especially for the Kona steak. read more

This restaurant is located on the border of Maryland and Washington, DC, at the intersection of Wisconsin and Western Avenue. I've been to The Capital Grille in Scottsdale, and the menu and flavors here are very similar. However, the decor at this location really stands out--it has a sense of history and a museum-like feel, almost like a collection of national treasures. I especially loved the bronze statues throughout the space. I ordered the oysters for lunch, and they were an excellent choice--fresh, briny, and very refreshing. This self-proclaimed "upscale chophouse" restaurant chain has NEVER disappointed me. The SERVICE is impeccable and the food is just perfect. IYKYK. Sunday, 12/21/25 was a planned Christmas dinner with my grown children before they scatter off in different directions (with their significant others) for the holidays. BEST choice for our family dinner. We're not newbies but every visit is a treat and an honor for us. From the prosciutto wrapped mozzarella to the butternut squash bisque to the PERFECTLY seasoned/seared filet mignon to the coconut cream pie and EVERY other starter, entree, dessert and cocktail enjoyed this evening is the reason why we remain faithful, repeat patrons. This location (Bethesda) is more vintage/traditionally decorated than the others. Personally, I prefer the aesthetics of the McLean, VA location but grateful to dine in any of them! Enjoy the pics. To be fair, it was Christmas Eve as many local office parties were winding up this place was getting hot. Folks already buzzed, arriving, looking to spend more time with their work associates. Crowded. Our server Heather dealt with all of the masses in stride. Bar tenders were super busy and unfortunately left cocktails in the shakers too long and not only was the old-fashioned. Very watered down, but my vodka martini was as well. Poor rating on the cocktails- high rating on the service, mid rating on the food. The oysters Casino arrived at the table lukewarm. Normally you have to let them hang out for at least five minutes to cool down after they've been out of the salamander obviously, these were sitting on the line for longer than that. The fried calamari with hot peppers arrived hot, crisp, filling, and the peppers helped balance the greasiness of the calamari. The sliced New York took some time to arrive. It arrived at perfect temperature however, I've never seen such a small New York. I understand this was the happy hour menu, but I saw several other of those appetizers go by with much bigger portions. The food took so long to get out we actually consumed eight drinks between the two of us and were not at all buzzed when we left. We reserved a private room for our group, and while the apps were excellent, the rest of the meal was uneven. The salad was standard. The filet looked beautiful and was enormous, but it was served lukewarm at best. The fish also missed the mark on flavor. Cheesecake and key lime pie were just okay. The biggest disappointment was the service, we had to leave the room more than once to track down our servers just to order more bottles of wine. Capital Grille is a fantastic steakhouse with superb service. We had Alexander, I believe that was his name, and was he great. Attentive, very knowledgeable and made our youngsters laugh a bit. I asked for him the second time i was there a week or two later. The lobster and crab cake is a good starter and can share this with another person. Wasn't expecting much lobster, but there was! Their shellfish platter to start sets the mood for a great dinner to be had. You come here to get steak and does not disappoint. The kona crusted ny strip had a great char and so juicy inside. Great sauce. The star though was this porcini ribeye. Such great flavor. I highly recommend this ribeye. The sides were okay, being mashed potatoes, spinach with garlic, and mushrooms. For desserts, the chocolate cake was a standout. The lava cake was a snooze, and their coconut cake was good too. The atmosphere is old school country club style, with lots of wood, carpet, making it easy to converse with your table mates. They got rid of their valet parking but it's kind of a waste since you can park anywhere in the vast parking garage. Good place for private parties too. Noe, our server, quite literally never left our table the entire visit -- which was both incredibly attentive and honestly a little funny. We splurged for a birthday date night and another time to take out my mother in law! I don't remember our waiters name but he was a tall older man who works the top floor section near the stairs and he took care of us both times! He was really kind and provided great service. I ordered the Waygu steak which was a special for that day and it was sooo delicious and tender. My husband really enjoyed his ribeye and my mother in law has the Cod which she loved. On my birthday I ordered the scallops which was perfect. And the dessert they served me along with the surprise table decorations was all perfect! It was not busy during our visit and the noise level was moderate, suggesting that this would be a loud place on a busy night. Our server was friendly but not especially attentive--far below what customers should expect at this restaurant's price point. Both of our meals were DELICIOUS. Steak and lobster tails for me (the tiniest portions of both that I have ever seen); lamb chops for my partner. One thing to note: If you don't order any side dishes, you will get meat on a plate, and absolutely nothing else. The restaurant is EXTREMELY expensive so beware that. We shared a salad, each had an entree, got asparagus and au gratin potatoes to split. No appetizers and no desserts for us. The bill came to $268. It's been a hot minute since we went to a Capital Grille, and overall, it's a decent experience for being a chain. We were recently at this location to celebrate a family event, and were tucked into a private room upstairs that was cozy--they even did a little decorating, which was a nice touch. The menu was already prix-fixe, so the items weren't necessarily what we would have chosen, but everything was good enough. The starter prosciutto-wrapped mozzarella was crisp on the outside and gooey on the inside, and the calamari was good in that run-of-the-mill kind of way. Same with the salads, which consisted of a bit of a too-gloopy wedge and an uninventive garden salad. But we got our greens in! For mains, we were happy with the filet mignon, which was cooked exactly how we ordered it. The sea bass had a nice crisp, but the sauce was pure butter--too thick and too much of it. We liked the lemony sides of asparagus. For dessert, the cheesecake was the big star, with the flourless chocolate cake coming in second. We do want to say that service was stellar. Our main point person was very sweet and attentive; waters were continually topped and dishes were cleared with tact. We think that we would have had more of a four-star experience here had we been able to control our order choices, but all things considered, it was pretty good. Certainly better than our experience the previous night at The Cosmos Club. Three satisfied stars. read more

Really wanted to try somewhere nice to celebrate getting married today and left very disappointed. Our server was nice but we waited 15-20 minutes to just put our order in after we got water. She had taken the order of the table next to us that had arrived later than us, our food also took an exceptionally longer time to arrive than others around us. An hour into being sat down, we still hadn't had our appetizers. We couldn't help but the notice the difference how another server was with their tables, checking on them frequently. Other tables that arrived an hour later than us were eating their entrees before us. Ordered the fresh oysters, they were very small and not cleaned well, there was a lot of dirt. Lobster bisque was good, very creamy, lobster was tender. The scallops and lobster risotto was okay, good but nothing special. The dry aged New York strip is pretty good! I ordered more than I should but have no complaints. The steak was cooked just right, tender, and juicy and I made sure to get the crab meat and butter with it. The lobster Mac and cheese had generous portions of lobster. And the fries were crispy but still had that soft center, the stuff dreams are made of. Let me begin this review by saying I'm ordinarily not a steakhouse kind of guy. I typically enjoy grilling my own steak from the comfort of my home. The Capital Grille isn't just a steakhouse, though: it's an experience. I took my fiancé there for our one year anniversary, and we were treated like royalty. The staff was incredibly friendly, the mood was quite romantic, they set the table with decorations for us, and they offered us some very nice touches that made this a perfect anniversary celebration. We had the best birthday dinner at Capital Grille Chevy Chase -- hands down, one of the most thoughtful and seamless dining experiences we've ever had. I had accidentally made our reservation at the wrong location and didn't realize until I was already en route with two young kids in the backseat and my husband's birthday dinner on the line. Total panic mode. I called and explained the situation, and the team could not have been kinder or more accommodating. When we arrived, they found us a table that felt special and spacious -- the chef's table, which also gave our toddlers room to "stretch their legs" without disturbing anyone (parents know how priceless that is). Our server, Evangelina, was a dream -- knowledgeable, kind, warm, and so patient with our boys. Sean (possibly the maitre d') made sure we were taken care of from the moment we walked in. And the best part? They brought our kids back into the kitchen in chef coats to help prepare the birthday dessert! Our boys are still talking about it. The crème brûlée and cheesecake were perfection -- but that thoughtful gesture is what truly made the night unforgettable. From start to finish, we felt like we had a team assigned just to us. Excellent steakhouse! We hosted a large group at the capital Grille tonight. We ordered a set menu that included calamari, roasted prosciutto wrapped in cheese, followed by green salad. Then we each ordered from a choice of delicious entrées, salmon, filet mignon, and of course, I had a delicious strip steak, perfectly aged, seared on the outside, medium rare on the inside, dusted with crack pepper. It was excellent! Flavorful, juicy Delicious. We ended with a very nice dark chocolate espresso cake. We had great service. Our private room room was comfortable. Nice! read more

We went to capital Grille for anniversary. Our friend bought us a gift card that was sent to us electronically. I would say for future reference ask for a plastic gift card that's tangible because we had some issues that the number would not display. The manager Scott and Sean were wonderful to work with to help rectify the issue. Onward to the dinner, our Waiter was David. I highly Recommend requesting him. He was customer service oriented and exceptional and making sure we were OK during the dinner. The restaurant was busy and we had a nice booth in the back. They had a beautiful anniversary card for us and decorations on the table. I ordered the onion soup, the tuna tartare, and the lobster mac & cheese. Everything was flavorful and made to perfection. My better half got the Tomahawk veal-chop and shared it was tender, fresh, and cooked perfectly. He also ordered a side of corn. I had a great dinner here. All the drinks I had were good. The bohemian was sweet and bubbly, the stoli doli was sweet and refreshing, and the old fashioned was strong and good. The oysters I had were fresh and delicious. I also really liked the lobster Mac and cheese. It was very creamy, they didn't skimp on lobster, and I liked the bit of crunch they added to it. We came here for Valentine's Day and I was gifted a card from Christmas I remembered to use but I would gladly have paid fully if we didn't. That's how exceptional the service, food, and atmosphere was here! We had a reservation for 8pm and we arrived a bit before. We did not wait long to be seated, even though there was 1000 guests there last night (literally) our server David told us. Everything was wonderful once we got seated. Even the lady that fills our water and brought us bread before we got to David was super sweet and helpful. She also helps with table prep for the next guests. They brought all the ladies a single white rose during their meals, which was a very nice touch and two chocolate covered strawberries which were ripe and juicy. My girlfriend and I enjoyed everything we had from my steak and lobster tails that were very nicely done and flavorful but not too over cooked, to the mashed potatoes which were creamy and delicious. Then we got our drinks, which I enjoyed but I had to switch out once because one of them was not to my liking. David was very understanding and accommodating. He was a pleasure to have last night and we hope our tip reflected his great service. He was very knowledgeable and attentive. He made sure to get us our food quickly and checked on us throughout the night. Then we ordered dessert. I got coconut cream pie which was scrumptious!! I didn't even want to finish it I took it home it was so beautifully done and delicious OMG. My girlfriend had the creme brulee which had vanilla bean in it you could see the specs of vanilla bean in the actual creme brulee. The fruit was fresh and delicious as well on her dish. To top everything off they had beautiful arrangements of flowers all over and a wine cabinet that really complemented the space well showcasing the sophistication and elegance of this place. I had heard great things and seen great things on their website and I can tell you with 100% certainty they do not disappoint everyone that we came into contact with throughout our night was super helpful and nice to deal with. They even told us as we were leaving to have a great night and they weren't the ones that helped us.
