This place is top notch for Japanese cosmetics! I am a dermatologist and always looking for different skincare items to test ingredients and product formulations. When I went to Tokyo last year, I went crazy and bought two extra suitcases of just skin care and cosmetics to try out. Until I found Shibuyala, I could only get these products either at Japanese supermarkets or Takeshima which are pretty limited. When I found Shibuyala, I saw so many of the items I love and they constantly have new stock of topselling items from Japan as ranked by Cosme a top beauty site. The staff and especially the manager are so helpful in explaining the products since the writing is in Japanese. At other places, you get no help and have no idea what will work for you. I just bought special high end all in one eyeliner, pencil, shadow pens for all my employees. They have this cool new lip gel that goes on all lipsticks to prevent them from smearing and it does not make your lips dry!! A big plus is that the manager speaks Japanese, Chinese, and English fluently and has helpful suggestions without being pushy. They also give you free samples to try of new products! It's a Japanese beauty supply store. Workers are not that helpful so you need to go with what exactly you are looking for. Don't expect them to know what color foundation or what you can buy to make your skin better. I will come here if I'm in a bind and forgot to order from my online place. This place is a rip off! I'm so very angry. The sale staff pushed to sell me some crackers and I bought 2. The prices were not advertised nor placed on the packages. After purchasing the staff, I checked the price on the receipt $28.50 each! I asked the staff to return one and was told "no returns" and then I said you didn't even put on the prices on the packages! The staff then said fine I'll put on the prices right now! What the hell?! And then the staff said the manager wasn't in so tough luck and deal with it. What a terrible place. Plus after looking at the packaging the crackers were expiring in a few days! DON'T COME HERE! Went to go buy some face masks and asked the worker id they were adult or childrens since they have both together. She told me adult so I purchased two packs since I was running low. I ended up getting home and trying them and they're kids masks. I don't understand why she would lie and say they were adult masks and then after circle that all sales were final. If I could give a 0 star rating I would. read more

AHHH is all I could say when I stumbled upon this place while getting dessert in the shopping center. If it wasn't near closing time I would have spent an hour browsing their aisles! They have every Japanese product I grew up using (shampoos and face washes) as well as beauty and skin products I've grown up to love (including my favorite Japanese Biore skin care with prices cheaper than Amazon and comparable to buying in Japan). I left the store with a cute Doraemon wipes dispenser that I totally didn't need but had to have. I'll be back again very soon when I have more time to peruse! read more

Their COVID-19 protocol says to ring the doorbell to shop inside the store and their hours are 12pm -8pm. I came to the store just 10 minutes ago at 12:28 and pressed the doorbell as directed by the sign. No one came to the door to let me in--I assumed that if the sign says to ring the doorbell, that the door itself would be locked. I peeked in and saw two employees at the cash registers. I rang the doorbell again after waiting a few minutes, they continued to ignore that there was a customer at the door. I could see the employees staring at the door but not even doing anything. Why have a sign saying "please ring doorbell to shop inside our store" if you aren't going to honor it? Went to Miibox just a little further down the street instead. read more

Japanese products galore. New haven of new and exciting products to try and inquire about. Ladies were helpful explaining how to use stuff. I got an enzyme powder wash & my pores are tighter. I also picked up a pricing whiting essence and I'm pleasantly surprised. I couldn't find these at a local Murikai or Mitsua. read more

The worset store ever. I've never seen a store that no return or exchange, and the Japanese product that they sell was different from Jepan, However, they said they bought directly from Japan. If you are a person of color, be prepared to be followed and stared down the entire time. I visited the store with my mother and baby sister after dropping off some documents at UCI. We felt as if we were being followed but we ignored it. My mom was also asking one of the workers about the products, when a white woman passed and she just left to assist the lady while my mom was still speaking. After a while, my mom was excited and ready to buy two packages of an eye cream that she found there. She told me to hold them, and the same older lady came over pretending to help us. She saw me holding the creams and told me they had them at the counter. I was like okay, and kept holding them. She obviously was still very uneasy, because she proceeded to snatch them out of my hands and place them back on the shelf, repeating that they had some packages at the front as if we were going to steal them. Love the store!I used to come by there a lot after getting off work and they got many cute Japanese stuffs and fair price. Just one thing I think they prolly should improve customer service. Today when I went to this store, there was one girl standing at register and not saying hello no anything, and she's like crouching over the counter and having some food didn't even know customer came in. I asked her questions and she kept ignoring me, then I had to find the stuff I want by my own. Truly an amazing hidden gem in the crowded plaza that this place is located, me and my girlfriend found it by mistake one night after having korean bbq, I felt like I was walking into a mini H-mart, but it felt like true japanese heaven. My girlfriend was amazed by the big selection of cosmetics, hair stuff, lotions, perfumes, even plushies that they have, a lot of selections for cute heat pads for eyes, shoulders and headbands as well, many types of japanese chips too, pencils, keychains, but the cosmetics was the focal point of it all, the girls that work there are very respectful and focused always on helping customers and answering questions, truly great customer service. Just be aware that they do not accept refunds, or gift cards, you buy it you keep it for life, no returns or exchanges, so make sure you check the product before buying, They do accept debit card, which truly is a delight. DON'T EVER GO HERE!! Significant other and I were out on a date night and decided to walk in because it looked so cute and bright on the inside. Even greeted the workers and kindly asked how to pronounce the name because we could not figure it out and wanted to be sure we were being respectful and pronouncing it correctly as this was in a language we did not know. We were having a great time beforehand but that quickly changed! We are both dark skinned, him more than I and we were RACIALLY profiled from the moment we walked in!! As we walked down an aisle, LESS THAN TWO MINUTES IN, he stated that we were being followed. I turned around and low and behold we were being VERY CLOSELY followed by all of the workers. Never mind that there were other light skinned people in the store that they did not bat an eye at or look twice at. We walked to the back and I saw a worker peek her head around the corner and when I turned to look she quickly pulled her head back. THEN, probably the same worker, came so close to us I turned and asked "hi, how are you" and she quickly made an excuse of how there was 12% off in the store. So, you wait until we are aaallll the way in the back of the store to tell us of the promotion, not when we first walked in? Interesting! I was so interested in the skin care products because of the beautiful skin the Japanese have. It's amazing and wanted to give it a try. I HAVE NEVER EVER BEEN TREATED SO POORLY IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.
