We go to Shiki every year because it's where we had our first date. This was the first time at this location though; normally we go to the one on May. The servers were all very personable & polite. I ordered the spicy tuna roll with a side of eel sauce & shrimp al a carte. Wife ordered hibachi steak & shrimp with fried rice and no veggies. The salad & miso soup were brought out quickly and were very tasty. Wife asked for no mushrooms in the soup, so the server added extra fried onions. Wife was very excited about that! The rest of our food came out quickly and was exactly as we asked. The only, and I'm stressing only thing that would've made this better is if we didn't feel rushed. I don't think she meant anything by it, but before we were completely finished eating, our server asked how we wanted the check and handed it to us. Usually one of our favorite places, so Monday night amid the virus scare and only a dozen or so patrons in the restaurant. We had even called ahead, but they sat our party of four with another party that had already finished their soup and salads. We told the waitress that if we were going to get rushed that we wanted to move to another table but she said that wouldn't happen. So the soup and salads came out together and ten seconds later here comes the chef and his cart. I was barely three sips into my soup when the chef starts his show and he's starting to put food on my plate before I get done with my salad. My wife and I brought the grandkids because they love the show and the food, but tonight was a horror show. They were even trying to clear plates before we were done like it was Friday night and they needed the table. The food was okay, but my filet needed to be cut into slightly smaller pieces. My husband ordered Filet Mignon and chicken, I ordered filet mignon. two other people were at the table not with us. the chef cooking at the table established our meals. The chef started to give the other party the New York strip he ordered, but the guy said no he did not want the mushrooms that the chef mixed in. The chef turned the meat and put it on my plate. I said no I had the filet and he said it's okay I'll make it right. He then took my filet and gave it to the stranger. He took a small amount of the filet and put it on top of the New York strip. I was upset but the chef did not acknowledge what he did. my meat was not tender and it definitely was not what I ordered and paid for. I told the waiter what happened and he told the manager. The manager did not care - he said he asked the chef and he said that did not happen. All 4 of us at the table saw and knew what had happened. If I could give no stars I would. I came here an hour and a half before they closed and they rushed us on ordering. We ate hibachi, he didn't put any seasoning on it, our chicken was so chewy all 4 people spit it out, my sushi roll that had avocado in it was all dark brown. When we let the manager know she told us "sometimes chicken is chewy" and "all avocados are brown". we will NEVER be back and DO NOT recommend eating here. Awful service and food. read more

We are here with a couple on Friday-- called around 6-6:15 to make a reservation for 7:15. It was great that they were able to get us in, because we were really craving hibachi! All of our service was great and our table was ready when we got here. I will note one nice thing, is their hibachi tables are smaller. It sat 8 instead of the huge tables that seat a big party. (They might of had larger ones that I didn't notice) the size was perfect for us 4. I had the Philadelphia roll which was really good and brought out close enough to the hibachi, where I wasn't done with my meal when the other dinner was served. I also split the filet and shrimp hibachi with a friend, but it still felt like a regular portion! They're HUGE but so incredibly delicious! (The cooked almost everything with mushroom and it was so good) I do wish hibachi grills would offer a "half size dish" because I like to mix the meal up. We had drinks through the night, and our waiter and the staff was on top of refills and cleaning up. I was really favoring another Asian restaurant, however after Friday, with the food and service, it might have slipped into my top spot. read more

My family came to Shiki with my on a Wednesday early evening and was shocked to find it sparsely populated. It's one of our favorites and we come regularly. Tonight's dinner was literally the best we've had here. It's the same price and same food as fancier hibachi but we can come casually and enjoy ourselves. I called in to Shiki and ordered a meal for two at 11:48am on 6/17/2015. I requested it to be ready at 1pm and was told this would not be a problem. This would give me plenty enough time to pick up my order, drive back to work, and eat it with my fiance. I show up here at about 12:45, and was told since I was early it was likely they could have my food ready before 1pm. Excellent! I pay my bill ($59.55 + tip) and have a seat in the waiting area. 1pm rolls around, and I asked about my food and was told it would just be another minute. 1:10 rolls around, and my meal was still not prepared. At this point I requested a refund. I was asked if it would be OK if I just waited a little bit longer, but already fearful of not making it back to work on time, I decline and requested the refund. My bill was refunded to me, and I might have thought about going here again because I'd really like to try the food - but not a single apology was offered. Unfortunate since I generally eat sushi several times per week, and this place is very conveniently located near my place of employment. read more

I was extremely disappointed in my experience with Shiki. I have been going here for years ordering the same three rolls. All of which are cooked. I called because my to go order was incorrect and was belittled by the manager and host saying I was completely wrong and the chefs were right. The roll was supposed to be a philly, but instead it had no cream cheese and had raw salmon. I was refused a refund because I was unable to return to the restaurant to prove the mix up. This was my first time at this Shiki location. My observations are as follows: First, the decor is typical for a teppan style Japanese restaurant with seating for about 18 around the grill. There is also a sushi bar tucked into the back corner. Menu choices are pretty good and they also have a variety of rolls & stuff for sushi options. The hostess and wait staff were very attentive so that is a definite plus. The soup and the salad preceding the meal were good, but not great. I ordered a dynamite roll along with my teppan meal and while it was ok, it wasn't anything I would get excited about - I've had better at other places in OKC. The chef preparing our meal was friendly enough, but not very dynamic. I had the chicken and shrip with fried rice. Over all the food was pretty good as the veggies were tasty and not overcooked and the chicken & shrimp were both tasty. There were two big disappointments though. The bean sprouts didn't have much flavor and my son's children's beef plate had a lot of fat in it. Several pieces were nothing but fat as a matter of fact. Bottom line: Shiki is a fun place to go occasionally for something different, especially if you've got a larger group. I'm usually not a fan of Asian food. I guess you could say it's just not my cup of sake. Shiki is hands down the exception! My girlfriend is an avid sushi fan and she suggested we try this place. I definitely don't regret it! Shiki hits the 3 main sensory requirements for food: flavor, smell & appearance. They offer speedy service and are very efficient. I went here to catch up w/ a good friend that I had not seen in years. We sat at the bar and that was the best thing we could've done all night because the bartender was pretty legit. We didn't really know what the best rolls here were so he gave us some advice. All the rolls we had were all incredibly good but also unique from one another. I had my reservations of the authenticity of a Japanese restaurant in OKC, but since the area I was in had pretty sketch pedestrian crosswalks along with me being vegetarian my options were pretty limited. Maybe the sushi or meat dishes are better, but my experience was "salad" that was nothing more than lettuce with dressing, a serviceable (not overlying on being salty) if ingredient-meager miso soup, rice that while not non-Asian rice awful was still worse than what I can do at home with a rice cooker, and watery, bland and flavorless veggies as my main dish. There were some sauce for the veggies, but the sauces had the texture and acidity (albeit not the taste) of vomit. Maybe such texture/acidity for the sauces are authentic, but even if they are, the lack of synergy with the watery veggies still brought out the worst of them. I felt bad for tipping sub-15% considering it wasn't necessarily the waittress's fault and she was fairly quick, but when I would rather eat nothing but fries and dessert foods from McDonald's then come back here again I think a little spite is understandable, petty though it may be. read more

I have been to the Sushi bar at Shiki twice. Both were a visual feast and a treat for the tastebuds as well. Just this week I went with a friend for my birthday. We sat at the Sushi bar. I had never done this anywhere and it was a lot of fun. I'm definitely not a sushi expert, but they answered all my questions and never made me feel stupid for asking them. Since the sushi chef at Shiki is a veteran of Tokyo Sushi Bar (also in OKC), you know he's got to be experienced and talented as well as willing to make suggestions and take requests. You can't go wrong with anything on the sushi menu. However, the sushi bar is relegated to the rear of the restaurant while teppanyaki steals the spotlight. I haven't strayed from the sushi bar but their teppanyaki chefs are entertaining to watch and appear skilled. The restaurant itself is lovely and waitstaff is friendly. I'm always happy when I can find a good sushi restaurant on my trips, especially one I can count on every time I'm in the area. Shiki is that sushi restaurant near the OKC airport and I stop in at least once very time I am in town. I like it when the sushi chefs will talk to you and maybe recommend something instead of just cutting fish in front of you all night. The guys at Shiki will do that and they greet you when you sit down and thank you when you leave. They also have a hibachi section of the restaurant but I always go to the sushi bar. read more

Tonight was an awful experience. The cook was in such a hurry that our food was undercooked. The calamari, the shrimp, and even the chicken!! We brought the chicken up to the manager and he said it was special "Woodstock chicken" and that it was suppose to be like that. We literally watched the cook put our food on the grill for seconds and take off. So disappointing especially for a $130 meal and we ate very little. My love of sushi dates back to 1982, so I am pretty familiar with what's good/bad when it comes to sushi. Shiki is a nice location with friendly staff and the decor is updated. They offer a sushi bar, tables and a hibachi section. (table side cooking) Fresh ingredients and a large menu. I recommend the Tako salad for an appetizer...yes that's octopus. Horrible service. We were rushed and given about 3 minutes to order drinks, appetizers, and food. The food was given no seasoning and took about 10 minutes to cook chicken, steak, and seafood. The server was extremely rude. Our chicken was not cooked fully through and was rude and they didn't care to fix our problem. The server proceeded to cause a problem in the restaurant, completely embarrassing by yelling around because we didn't like our food. They told us that they have their sushi sitting out all day including their avocado which was brown when we got the sushi roll. The next sushi roll was missing ingredients and they told us "we don't do what you want". The manager comes out and tells us that the chicken comes out like rubber and chewy sometimes because it wasn't fully cooked. They handled this horrible. As we walked out STARVING they started eating the food off of our plates and we watched them through the window. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!! THEY NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN FOR GOOD. HORRIBLE SERVICE. I went here last night after driving from Columbia, Missouri. I picked it because of the reviews, the fact that they were open late, and the extensive menu. When I arrived, I was seated immediately. The restaurant is set up well, and the decor is pleasant. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. I was delighted to discover that they have a wide variety of cooked sushi, as my companion is not a huge fan of raw food. All of it was delicious, but two rolls would have been plenty. I let my eyes run away with me and ordered three, but ended up regretting it at the end when I could barely finish my meal. I would definitely return here. read more
