Ok, here's the story. I was out-and-about, feeling a little under the weather (no, not the "C" word) and trying to figure out what to get. Thought about something simple like rice and beans from Joes, but as I was driving by the food court, had read about Shilla for a while and had been wondering ... I decided to support the food truck industry this time. Navigated the icy snow, and rolled up to the truck where there was a menu sans prices. I ask and it's $14 for the Ramen with a $3 charge for container if I haven't brought one with me (ouch I think). Still, a local burger nowadays floats in the same range if not higher (thinking restaurant not fast food) and I was given one gratis as it was my first time - after that I'm on my own! So, I wait in my car a little (made to order and it was freezing outside), picked up the food with a smile from the chef, and drove home. Sit down, pop off the top and OH EM GEE !!!!! Wishing now I had thought ahead to take a pic of the beginning vs the end. Chock full to the top of everything. Stunning broth, very slightly spicy - not a lot - but enough to be there and a mixture of slightly sweet, salty, meaty and just dahm tasty! Perfect Umami. Added in were succulent pieces of perfectly cooked chicken, with thinly shredded carrots and purple cabbage, and crunchy noodles arranged on the top along with a personal fav DAIKON! lol For those who haven't had this yumminess before or it looks a little odd (it is bright yellow after all) it's a radish that is slightly salty, sweet and crunchy and a perfect accompaniment to everything else. I don't know where they get it? Cos you def can't find it here in town. (Insert sad face) I was in heaven. I thought I wasn't very hungry, yeah, well, that was wrong. Couldn't make it all the way through the bowl though because under all of the above was hiding a huge serving of ramen. Not your instant pot noodle kind, nope ...the firm yet soft, full of flavor from the broth real stuff. YUM!!! So, am I happy I stopped, yes. Do I mind the price now I've eaten it and seen how much is there? Nope. Was it totally worth it. Absolutely yes!!! I even was kind enough to share some with my youngest son. Only a small bowl tho, even though he was giving me those eyes, grin. He loved it too and would have been straight down there himself, but they had just closed. End of the story is, don't let the very strange negative reviews floating around put you off. I don't know what universe those folks live in or on, but it was so not my experience. Both with the service (serious but kind - just a professional chef about to "wok" vs fast food front person kinda deal?), the food is definitely authentic, cooked to order (so you are better off calling ahead if you don't want to wait?) OH, and bring own container :) If you want Americanized "Asian" food like stir fry with broccoli and mushrooms - don't go. If you want to expand your tastebuds, get to experience (perhaps) a new cuisine and have something truly VERY good to eat, then go. I'd like to say mention me and receive 10 percent off, but I can't, grin. I can say you will thank me if you listen to this review :) PS I'm also feeling a lot better! SUPER GOOD. this place is bomb. We had the ramen and chicken curry and will definitely be back. The curry had some nice heat to it and the chicken was so tender. The ramen was full of flavor. We did learn about their sustainability program (save your bowl, bring it back, initial cost of the bowl is $3) and it's worth it! 100% will be back. read more

This bowl was delicious and generously sized. The food was ready relatively quickly as well. As someone who grew up eating home made Korean food, I was pleasantly surprised to be able to get good Korean food in Sandpoint. Pro tip: Know what you want when you get to the front to keep the line moving. If in doubt, I would get the bowl. read more

First, the guy, who we were told is the owner, is not very friendly. Not at all personable, just give me your order, I won't smile or change my facial expression. Give me your money, extremely overpriced and I'll hand over the food. We were too scared to ask him about what veggies he uses, maybe that's his deal - intimidate people. Or maybe he warms up to people he knows, who knows? But also the food was weird - really weird veggies - don't know what they were. Why can't it be like brocolli, mushrooms, things we would recognize and usually see in a veggie stir fry. We had to move all the veggies to the side (that took a while) and then eat the noodles, and there weren't many. Too funny, when we were walking out of the food court, we looked in a guy's bowl he got there and he had done the same!! No thanks not returning. Give a smile, try to like your customers and put in recognizable veggies. Thank you anyway for your effort. read more

Read other reviews and just had to try Shilla. I ordered the ramen bowl with traditional broth and it took a while but it was well worth the wait! Came out piping hot, the vegetables were really fresh and the broth was delicious. I'm not an expert on what Korean BBQ is supposed to be like, but I love good food and this was it. Would definitely recommend this place. You may want to try ordering in advance to avoid the wait. Yum! read more

The beef street noodles with an order of pot stickers is the best food I have ever tasted! No lie. The dude making the chow can be a tiny bit abrasive but who gives an actual F###? He's a genius level bonified graduate Chef who is doing 13 things at the same time like a frickin circus clown juggling chainsaws over a flame throwing 2000 degree grill... Then you or I comes at him all slow motion and shi# cuz you are on your lunch break exausted from sorting paper clips and telling jokes at the water cooler all day, asking him stupid questions like is this gluten free, can you take third party out of state payroll checks with no ID or just staring at the menu like you are having a stroke. Have some respect! Notice how fast he jerks those pans, expertly flipping the contents of 4 differently cooked and timed ingredients 2 feet in the air every few seconds like it ain't s##t while literally juggling marinade bottles behind his back and under his leg like nunchucks, stopping in a mid air freeze frame just long enough to squirt the right amount in a millisecond while trying to work the counter, answering the phone pinched between his neck and shoulder and looking to the future in his minds eye to plan the next 10 orders!!! Just get the Beef Street Noodles if you've never been there. It the best anyway. You'll see. OR look at the pictures of the menu items online and figure out what you want BEFORE you get there and you will be rewarded with the best food you have ever tasted. These guys just changed their menu and their prices got even higher than they were! I used to get the BOP bowl at $14, which tasted great albaiet a bit pricey. Now this is no longer an option, so I got a Ramen Bowl. This set me back $17. The food was mediocre. I definitely wont be back at their new prices. read more
