Very clean, a bit odd to order from counter to sit in, bottled drinks no fountain, friendly staff. The price for two ramen, edamame, and two drinks was about $50.00 tip included. I've been coming here for lunch with a work colleague for almost 6 months. It's been a very pleasant experience with excellent ramen and sushi, as well as really nice staff! They always greet people warmly and are extremely professional. If they have time and you reciprocate, they'll come by your table and chat a bit! I like the chicken miso, both normal and spicy, depending on how adventurous I'm feeling that day lol! It is a large bowl filled to the top with a tasty broth and all the usual ingredients. They also have a really unusually prepared chicken gyoza that's air fried, and it is excellent without all the heaviness that I normally feel after eating it fried the traditional way! We tried an ocean roll last week and it was also tasty. It is very quiet with mellow background music, so we like spending a quiet lunch there and getting a break from work. They also have a rewards system with a coupon that reduces your meal after several visits. Overall, a great place for lunch or dinner! read more

Shimoda ramen and sushi was a great experience. Everything was fresh, the restaurant was clean and the staff were attentive. You pay at the counter which was amazing for going as a group to avoid the hassle of splitting the check. They have a great variety of bottled drinks both American and Japanese. Little kids receive a complimentary bowl of noodles and broth due to the size of the Ramen.... Everything was amazing I was too busy enjoying the food to continue to take pics but we had the gyoza, edamame, pork ramen and pork gyoza as well! read more

We went to their soft opening. They have 10 employees but one lady runs the show. Feels like she kinda tries to run the register aaaaand the kitchen... so you wait to order from their menu of like 6 items when like only 3 tables are full. It's kinda lame. We ordered all the chasu ramens. $15 some a bowl. EVERYTHING is packaged food. The ramen isn't even hot. Lukewarm at most. Do better Shimoda. Maybe try sticking to foods that are from your own country instead of calling yourself Japanese. Or actual learn actual Japanese ramen instead of fooling the good people of Havelock. So you order and then you pay. Then you wait for your food. Food gets to you immediately. You know those big black electric cauldrons they have at like most restaurants with the soup of the day. Thaaaat's where the base of your ramen comes from. Toppings are all packed except for the cabbage. The noodles aren't even cooked fully. They are noodles from yakisoba package. They just open it from the package and into your bowl. No cooking it no boiling it. NOT worth their outrageous price. NOT worth all the dumb "this reminds me of Japan ramen" comments. I D K where in Japan you tried ramen from but y'all need to go back because that's a lie. We need a Mitsuwa or authentic Japanese place. This is nothing Japanese. Buy your own ramen and buy your own toppings. Party of 5 we spent well over 70 bucks for packaged everything. Never again. Very disappointing. The lady who made our food and served us was a delight! She was so sweet and made sure we were all happy. All the food was delicious, from the kalimari salad to the Ocean Roll sushi (which I highly recommend!). The sushi rice was clearly made fresh and was super fluffy and tasty. The shrimp tempura that was in the roll was sizeable, warm, and crunchy. My boyfriend is very particular when it comes to food in general, but especially his sushi (he refused to touch anything but California rolls until tonight). I stopped by shimoda because i love sushi and i know it is new, and i'll say it was amazing, a very refreshing taste for a small town. The sushi was by far the best in town, it was fresh and so tasty. The ramen was also delicious, it had a fantastic broth with such strong great flavor, tons of noodles and topping for a great price! The staff was super friendly and explained how it all worked to us first-timers and our food came out fast and hot! the restaurant itself is small, serene, and relaxing. Restaurant was a little confusing as when you walk in there's a register immediately to your left and you're not sure if you order there or take a menu and sit down to order. Found out you grab a menu then go back up and order and they bring the food to you. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I read some reviews saying the sushi was the best in town I'd have to argue that point. It was average at best. Also ordered some spicy ramen but it had barely any flavor. My 7 year old daughter liked it though so I guess it wasn't a total bust. Would I go back? Ehh probably not which is unfortunate because Havelock needs more food choices than Mexican and fast food. read more
