I was very pleased with the service and quality of the cleaning. I took in a dress that my daughter wore when she was about 2 years old. I'm bad, I never had it cleaned, it had some spots on it. I didn't expect it to come out completely clean, but it did. Looks brand new, no stains. The person that helped me was kind and looked at the dress carefully since it is quite old. Was concerned about the little flowers but said she would be careful with them. I also took in a baby down blanket that was equally as old as the dress. Although a couple of stained didn't come out, she had said she thought they might not. I've been here about 10 times in the past year. Every time I come here I'm impressed with their ability to clean my shirts. I'm pretty sure I had ink on a shirt once, and they got it out. I only had one stain they couldn't fix, and I wasn't even disappointed. They didn't charge me extra to try again. Service is always good. Somebody mentioned a guy with an attitude, but I've never dealt with anybody except a woman. She just rings you up no problem, and gladly takes your item back if it's not satisfactory. Be sure to point out any stains and they will mark them beforehand. Usually I bring in 4 or 5 shirts and my bill is under $20--that's not bad considering how well clean they are. read more

When you have to wear a suit and tie to work everyday you need a quality dry cleaner, and Shine definitely does the trick. They do quality work and I've never had a single article of clothing damaged, which is impressive considering the amount of clothing I've given them to clean. Anyways, I attended Santa Clara University which is down the street so if you're a SCU student, look no further. After trying out a few of the local dry cleaners and coming back disappointed each time, I turned to Yelp to find this place. There are two nice Korean ladies that run this place and they know what they're doing. Slight alterations and fixes, such as sewing back on a fallen button can be done here, which makes it even better that I don't have to run around town to get my suits/coats tended to. As for the actual dry cleaning, whenever I turn in my clothes to them, it comes back to me looking like I JUST bought it. Seriously. I've been using this dry cleaner for several years now, and they do an all around great job! They also get things done when they say they will and will put in the effort to rush something if you need it. If some Santa Clara cops use them for uniforms, then they have to be good! I have even used their services for dry cleaning my sister's wedding gown and for alterations and they got it done right the first time! If you bring in garments that would seem complicated to clean (like that wedding gown) or alter, they'll tell you if it requires anything special and give you a timeframe for when they'll have it done. read more

We found Shine Dry Cleaning and gave it a try. We never realized HOW BAD the old dry cleaners were until we started bringing our clothes here! They do a GREAT job with dress shirts, dresses, down to coats and delicate clothes. Shine Dry Cleaning is one of the hands down best establishments around Santa Clara University. I tried the other two dry cleaners in the area: one is a hole in the wall that looks a little run down, while the other is just a storefront. Although the latter one was cheaper, some of my clothes came back with stains and always smelled of chemicals. After such experiences, I had all but given up hope for a decent dry cleaner around SCU. Someone definitely should have told me of Shine Dry Cleaning earlier. I noticed it after a couple of trips to Thai Pepper and Mio Vicino which are also in the same mall. I was assured on my first trip there, after noticing that Santa Clara University was actually using them for some items (I saw some SCU banners there for pickup). The people who work there are extremely nice, and the store is kept neat and clean. Many times, my clothes were ready before the day I had requested them. I have not had any problems with missing buttons, stains, tears, etc. with this cleaners. The only thing I would wish for is lower prices, but other than that, this place is great. read more

I must admit I love this place. I went to a few different dry cleaners in the area and wasn't impressed. Shine was recommended by a buddy of mine and I've been completely loyal to this store since. They are more expensive but I'm willing to pay it for the extra care and handling. Whenever I buy new dress shirts I need the sleeves shortened because I guess I have lame T-Rex arms. Like I mentioned in the tip, I never go anywhere else for dry cleaning - and I live in the east bay. This is probably possible because I am a student and don't have much clothes to dry clean. But once i move to south bay, im pretty sure this will be my go-to. I recently had a new silky blouse stitched up because it was torn when I bought it - cost me only $6, fit perfectly! Staff are relatively friendly, and easy to communicate. *NOTE: If you bring stuff to them before 7AM (I believe, I might be a little off), you can get it back on the same day. They're also open on Saturdays, so you could shop at the Santa Clara Farmer's Market on Saturday and then walk across to Shine for your dry cleaning! read more

UPDATE: I did indeed go back, and they didn't disappoint! One suit and one shirt, for $13.70, no problems, ready on time, and cleaned and pressed very well. This place is near my work, thats why I started coming here. A tad on the expensive side, but they always do a great job. Very friendly employees (owners?) always a quick in and out. The ask when you need the clothes back by, which is nice. I've never asked for same day because I'm never in that much of a rush, but I'm sure they could accommodate you. Bonus: Dropped off some pants that had a broken zipper that I had forgotten about. She called my cell # I had left with them and asked if I wanted it repaired. Why, yes, I do. Thank you for asking. Done and done. Also did the same for a blouse that had a hole in it, they called asked if I wanted it mended, I said yes, they mended it. Easy peezy. Extra bonus: Another time I dropped off some pants and I had left some money in the pockets and they put it in a baggy and stapled it to the hanger the pants were on. Honesty. Gotta love it. This cleaners is NOT your $2.00 any item, bargain cleaners. They are a bit pricey, but WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!! I brought one dress, one silk/cotton sweater with some balling under the arms and a blue mark from a marker on the front and a pima cotton jacket/blazer that had balling all over it. Two days later, I picked up the items (they do have same day service-in by 9, out by 5) and brought them home. The sweater was TISSUE FOLDED on a hanger (nice!), the balling is GONE, and so is the blue mark!! The dress is now in like-new condition and so is my JACKET!!!!!! I'm SO EXCITED!!!!! It cost me $18 for all three items. The peoepl that wirk here are awesome too! Very friendly. Their computer also says "Have A Nice Day!" Oh, and I think they accept cash only. read more

I lived in Santa Clara for 8 years and didn't know about this place. But I guess that is because I lived on the other side of Santa Clara. I couldn't seem to find a good dry cleaner and one day I yelped for one and found this place! I love this place as they have great service and they are super nice. My clothes are cleaned well and they try to accomodate if there is a rush. The prices are a little higher here than other places but worth it. read more

I gave them 1 star because there is not an option to give 0 stars. My wife brought in a dress to be hemmed. When she received the dress back from Shine Dry Cleaning, they messed up the hem. She brought the dress back to them, but due to her busy schedule, she was unable to pick it up and asked me to pick up the dress for her. She explained to me that they hemmed the dress because the first time they hemmed the dress, the hem was done incorrectly, and because it was a re-do, they should not be charging us for it. When I picked it up, there were 2 women running the dry cleaner. I gave my wife's ticket to one of them. She brought the dress back out and proceeded to charge me $28. $28 FOR A HEM!!!! I told her that it was a re-do per my wife's story, and that we should not have to pay for this alternation. She was insistent that I pay the cost of the hem to the point that she asked me to come behind the counter and look at her computer screen. I obliged and stepped behind the counter at her request, where she showed me that the "re-do" option in their computer was not selected on the customer invoice screen, and thus, it was not a re-do. They had entered the transaction as a new invoice, and therefore, it "had not been hemmed before." So the lady's argument that I owe them $28 for the dress was based on the likelihood that they made the computer error; they did not enter the transaction as a re-do when my wife brought the dress back. She then explained to me that they have customer invoice histories, so I asked her to pull up her customer history and look at an itemized list of the previous visit. And sure enough, among the list of items on the previous transaction was 1 dress that was hemmed. So in turn, I asked the lady: If they hemmed the dress previously, indicative by the customer invoice history, but the hem was done incorrectly, wouldn't it make sense that the second time the dress was brought in that it WAS A RE-DO? It is not our fault that they did not enter the items in the computer correctly, and we should not have to pay for their mistakes. She still charged me $28, told me she needed to check with her manager about refunds, and would get back to me in 5 business days. Terrible customer service. read more

Great place that always has my shirts looking clean and finely pressed. The only thing that ever bothered me was when I realized they wrote my name on the inside of my shirts. Big deal? I brought my normal dry cleaning here for the past year, and always had fine experiences, but am sorry to say I will no longer be a customer after they ruined my wedding gown. If you don't have the equipment to adequately dry clean a wedding dress, you should inform your customers and have them take their dress elsewhere before ruining their $2,000 gown. After taking my dress to Shine, the tulle skirt appears yellowed and is rough to the touch, and what was once a flowy skirt is now poofy and adds a good 15 lbs when I put it on. The dress is ruined, and I will no longer be able to sell it as planned. They gave me the dry cleaning for free when I expressed my disappointment, but I would rather have paid significantly more to have a dress back in its original form. I am just glad I didn't bring it here before the wedding. read more

This place is the Shiznit. I already graduated from SCU and still use them as my dry cleaners and I live in the East Bay! (but work in the South Bay). They will have your clothes ready before the day they said they would be finished and will rush them if necessary. I have never had any problems with lost or ruined clothes and they have ALWAYS been able to get food stains out (even red wine) of clothes, including white. Prices are a little more, but well worth the price to pay for quality and speediness. Better than all nearby dry cleaners, hands down. Place is very clean and the two ladies that work the front desk are extremely friendly, even their computer says, "Thanks. Have a nice day." What more could you ask for? read more

The people who work here are very nice, it's inexpensive, and they actually do a good job of removing grease stains from 100% silk and things like that. However, I take my clothes to the cleaners to have stains removed, not added! The very first time I took a 100% silk dress in for dry cleaning, they returned it to me with two yellow stains on the front that kind of look like you accidentally brushed a yellow hi-lighter against the garment. I know for a fact these stains weren't there before. When I complained about the stains, they tried to tell me that "the dry cleaning process often reveals stains that were hidden under the dirt and grime." Um, what? It's not like I turned a dress in that was covered in dust or mud....so they told me that since they want me to be happy they would gladly re-clean the dress at no extra cost. Perfect. When I got the dress back for the second time, the mysterious stains were gone, so I decided to keep coming back to Shine since they are close to my work and very affordable. Fast forward a few months later, and they return two blouses to me with the same exact yellow stains and little blue dot stain! At this point, I think that either their dry cleaning machinery is malfunctioning or someone is messing up. I complained and they were able to *barely* remove the yellow stain on one blouse but the blue dot stain on the other blouse still remains. Would not recommend this dry cleaner until they figure out what's up with the yellow stains and blue dots. read more

This review is long overdue. After trying at least 20 different cleaners, I found my cleaners soulmate. The staff is very friendly which goes far in my book. My items are always returned looking great! Also, they are a "green" cleaner, so you don't get that funky smell on your clothes either. They offer same day service as long as you have your stuff there by 9. Also have used them for alterations and everything comes back great and to my specs. Went here to get my wedding dress cleaned (it was a sample and thus really dirty). Once they found out it was before my wedding, they said they were going to be extra careful. It took nearly two weeks, but when I went to pick it up I was blown away by how nice it looked. It was in great shape and looked like a totally different dress. They must have hired someone new, because I had decent results over the last year. The last three times, however, I've had problems. Mistakes in ironing (leaving serious creases), failure to adjust technique to details such as built in creases/pleats, and several yellow spots left by their equipment. I came in on a Tuesday morning with a long sequin dress that had to be taken in all down the back seam that I needed for that Saturday and they were able to have it done by Thursday evening.
