I have been here many times for slacks pant hemming and dry cleaning. The staff here are so kind, and it's very conveniently located. I don't have any issue finding street parking. Turnaround time is usually a few days to a week. Prices are fair, around $20 for dry cleaning a jacket and hemming. Amazing little place near Santa Clara University and conveniently located right down the street from my house! I was a little confused at first as it appears to be somewhat conjoined with a Vietnamese sandwich shop, but it appears to be its own separate thing - maybe has the same owners? Regardless, the man who helped me was pretty blunt and not super friendly but the whole interaction was quick. Prices were reasonable and you can get in and out quickly. As a perk, they were able to rush dry clean a dress for me and have it ready only a few hours later! read more

She made me fresh brewed tea with lemon in hopes of making me feel better. Anne and her husband Don are always so nice. They have my clothes ready by the next day and always in excellent condition. The university cleaners is walking distance from where I live. At first I was super excited, how amazing that I don't need it drive around to drop off my cloths! Oops what A mistake... They damaged first 2 dresses I gave them. There were footprint on both! I asked them to fix it but it got worth by adding one more footprint! How amazing is that. She not only charged me twice also didn't take the responsibility for their mistake. I would never go back there, nor suggest this place. read more

A few weeks ago my girlfriend lent one of her silk blouses to a friend. She got it a little dirty and, like most Santa Clara students, went to University Cleaners to get it dry cleaned. She went to pick it up after our Thanksgiving break and returned it to my girlfriend, who hung it back in her closet with the plastic still over the blouse. Last night she was planning on wearing it out and when she went to take it out of the plastic, one of the silk ties on the blouse was completely shredded. The next day she went to ask the nice woman at the counter about what had happened, and she called to talk to her boss. Several hours later we returned to find that not only did her boss "not care" about what had happened to her blouse, he had said that "if you hadn't noticed anything wrong with the clothes in 48 hours, they were no longer responsible for what they did to them." We both used them a lot in the past and had no reason not to trust them, so obviously my girlfriend felt a little betrayed. She asked to speak to the owner and when she got him on the phone (he's never in the store for presumably this reason), he proceeded to tell her that he "doesn't give a sh*t about her blouse, or the fact that he upset a customer". My girlfriend then stated that he needed to take responsibility for the damage he caused to her blouse (it wasn't cheap) or she would be forced to seek the help of a consumer protection agency to make sure she, or anyone else, wouldn't get screwed. Apparently enraged at the fact that his less-than-stellar dry cleaners might be hurt by the bad press, he then proceeded to tell her, "F*ck you, I don't care one bit about what happened to your shirt. If you try to hurt my business I will call the police on you." Then he hung up on her... We were both extremely offended by the lack of respect this jerk had for both his customers and his service, and needless to say, we will never return. If you need anything important cleaned, I would recommend taking it somewhere else as no issues that may arise will ever be solved (at least without being cussed out). read more

The jeans got picked up today and the hems look good. However, I went to pay with my CC (sign on the desk says no CCs under $10) but it was a $30 total. She shakes her head and says no because the woman sewed them. Huh?! Communication was a little tough but come to learn that they do NOT take CC's for any alterations. I told her they need to have the posted in plain sight because no one would naturally assume that. So, she had me write a sign for her on their alterations signs. read more

My mom knows the owner here and i use to work for him for a couple days. This place doesn't only do just dry cleaning. It does Heels repairs for any of you ladies that walk around a lot or go clubbing and breaks them on accident. Shoe shine as well He buffs them out so it looks like new and he also puts new insoles for your dress shoes as well and fixes holes on your shoes. Also does duplicate keys if you need any keys to be duplicated for you. Before i left i remember that he was building a PO box area for the University kids that don't have mail going to there dorms. I'm not quite sure if he still owns that store but he's a real nice guy and does the job quick, very nice as well. read more

Located right next to Blondie's Frozen Yogourt, I assumed with so much business regarding dresses (stains, alterations, and more college-like requests), they could easily get out the red juice stain from a dress my friend borrowed. Unfortunately, when I arrived to pickup the dress I had to wear that night, the stain still existed. Not only was the stain still obvious, but the beading was slightly altered. I have also heard many negative reviews from others regarding the loss of dress, problems with alterations, etc... Though the prices are college-student friendly, I DO NOT recommend University Cleaners! read more

Brought two items, a baseball hat and a sweater, for cleaning. The sweater needed elbow patches I'd already bought sewed on. Baseball hat ended up somehwat cleaned but still with dirty spots, plus they added a dab of glue on the front that looks like dried snot. One elbow patch went on the elbow, the other arm had the elbow patch on the front. Had to have them take it off and put it on right, and it took them three more days to do it. Then when I put the sweater on (merino wool) it no longer felt soft, but very rough, and they had shrunk it so it was too tight and stopped above my wrists. Could they have possibly screwed up anything else? Maybe lighted the items on fire, but that's about it. To say the least I won't be going back. If you value your clothing, go somewhere else. read more

i've been taking my clothes here to be cleaned and altered for over 5 years. it started when i went to santa clara university and whenever i can, i take my clothes here. they are cheap and reliable. i take my jeans to get the original hems done and my dresses to be altered. i've had heels replaced there on my shoes, and purse buckles replaced too. every time they have done a great job. if they can't do it, they won't try and i think that's great because they would rather not mess up your stuff than make a buck. sometimes there are communication issues and that's the only reason why i haven't given them 5 stars. read more
