Attention to Detail I go to this car wash as they have two convenient locations in Marin (Mill Valley & Larkspur) and I really enjoy the high standards they have and their employees are not only nice but they too pay attention to details. My car has not looked this good in a long time and it's relatively new. (As long as it looks new I am happy.) Pro's: New equipment eco-friendly. Staff is always happy and go above and beyond. Universal tip jar so you don't feel like anyone is left out and it's anonymous, they use an air gun to get out the water hiding in the crevices, management is always around to answer questions or concerns, they sell Chevron gas at a discount with Wash, they provide a 24 hour guarantee if it rains (nice touch), I see ultra exotic cars there all the time (Ferrari's Porsche, Austin Martins, etc) and of course they typical SUV and such, efficient in time. I used to go to these people when I lived in Mill Valley. I never thought they did a very good job, but it was easy enough to get a simple, straightforward car wash. Today I was down in that area and had to get gas, so I thought I'd give it another try, and ask them to wash the outside and clean the inside. They actually damaged my car today, and when I talked to the manager about the damage they'd done to the interior, he started yelling at me and saying it was just an older car anyway. I tried to de-escalate and said I just wanted to ask if they had insurance or if my own insurance might cover it. And at that point the manager who had been pretty obstreperous then started swearing and I just got out of there. It was actually a frightening experience. I do not think these people should be allowed to run a business like this. And as of today, I don't think they should be in business at all. Most of the employees are not bad. But the management, in my experience, was just dreadful and overtly hostile. read more

Fastest and least expensive smog test in the past 6 years. I didn't catch the gentleman's name, but he was very kind and efficient. Suggested I take a seat under the trees, completed the test, submitted the paperwork to the DMV, then brought my car over to me to pay in the gas station. It is unfortunate to experience such poor customer service at a place I've seen with so much demand. I've paid, for a couple years, the cost for a wash that includes additional unlimited exterior washes for a month. At first, the guys checking me in, used to tell me I had 2 weeks for the unlimited washes. I believe I came back once, due to the fact I didn't really feel my vehicle was dirty enough and the two weeks would fly by quickly. Later on, I found out it was a full month for the washes included, which I believe I've used once. Today, I came asking if my time for the additional exterior wash was up, and I was told I was still within the threshold. Therefore, I asked if a quick wipe of my dashboard could be done and the worker said he needed to talk to his manager. Manager (in the picture) comes and tells me "unfortunately I can not do more than the exterior wash", even after explaining the above. I paid $800 for a 1 time wash on my Chevy subIran and they did a terrible job! There were water masks on the rear mirrors there were water marks on the front of the vehicle and when I asked them to check it out and redo it, they said that that's how it was going to look and denied redoing it. Be careful when you are doing a car wash over there. They smash my dash board vent and didn't want to know anything about that. Finally, after insisting, the manager show up and didn't want to assume they made a mistake. After arguing for a while, they decided to try to repair it and they scratched the plastic. Im 100 percent certain it was stolen from the car at this car wash. The manager there today implied that my husband and I are too old to keep proper track of our belonginga. My mechanic gives me a coupon for a free car wash from Shineology after each smog check. The first time I did this was 2020 and Shineology insisted on a $10 "COVID cleaning fee" (or something like that) to redeem the coupon. I felt like I was being scammed but I did the wash anyway. It was ok; nothing special. One star because they actually did wash my car. But next time, I went elsewhere when paying for a car wash. Then I went back with another coupon from the smog check. The guy checks the date and says that last year they changed ownership so I'd have to pay $29.99 to redeem the coupon. So I produced my second coupon, from March of this year. This would have been after the change in ownership he described. He couldn't explain why but said I could pay $29.99 or redeem it at the San Rafael location. It felt like I was being scammed (I'm not sure if that ownership change really happened) but I drove off, then pulled over to run directions to the San Rafael location and learned that it's permanently closed. I can't be sure but I suspect that telling me to go to (closed) San Rafael was retaliation for my insistence on a business honoring its promotional coupon. read more

Confession: it's been at least 4 months since my last car wash. So forgive me, father, for I have sinned. But in all fairness, this damn pandemic (aka damn-demic) hasn't helped matters at all. But then again, I haven't really been doing much driving in that time. Needless to say, I was happy to hear that car washes were open again in Marin County. For a while, some car wash places would only clean the exterior of your car but not the interior. But now it's game on for both inside and outside your vehicle. So I drove down the hill to my go-to car wash which is located in a Chevron station next to McDonald's. They've always been reliable. And don't get me wrong, they still are reliable and do a thorough cleaning. But man oh man, this spot keeps getting more expensive. The last time I went, I paid $35 for a basic cleaning + tip for the hardworking staff. On my recent visit, they charged $40 + a $5 sanitization fee. So after tax/tip, I drove out of there with a $50 dent in my wallet. Is it just me, or does this seem a bit pricey. I'm all for adhering to best safety practices right now. But a $5 fee for sanitization seems like a stretch. After all, the people cleaning the cars are already wearing masks & gloves. And I'd like to think that the cleaning products they're using already have disinfectants. Maybe it's just me, but I haven't heard of any other business charging a sanitization fee. I would understand this rule at restaurants and other public places. But at a car wash? In any case, I guess this is just the new norm. And at the end of the day, this is merely a "1st world problem" to be complaining about. I am glad to see them back in business and employing so many hard working employees. Do not come here--worst car wash place ever. I opted for the second most expensive option because I really wanted a deep clean for my car after several road trips. Unfortunately, the service was a complete letdown. In less than 15 minutes, they told me my car was ready. When I checked, the hood of my car had many visible dirty spots, and they definitely didn't clean around the license plate areas. The services included interior but besides the mats, it looked untouched. My dashboard was still sticky despite the service I paid for. Do not ever come here or to any shineology. They WILL scratch your nice car and damage your paint. They dont use a grit gaurd to clean the mitts and thus rub dirt into your car causing scratches and swirls. I came here and they somehow missed the center of my hood, so after complaining The owner told me to come back for another wash. Before my next visit, I throughly looked over my car for scratches which there were none. After the second visit i found scratches all over my vehicle and spent two weeks trying to get the owner to meet with me to figure out a solution. Which for him was to deny it was his fault and told me to file with my insurance. Insurance estimated $6000 in damage to fix my paint and scratches all over my vehicle, which then left me without a vehicle for some time. Don't come here and ruin your nice paint. I'm always shocked at any car wash that can charge $49.99 for a simple car wash that they call "The Works" and get away with it. Only in Marin. It doesn't even include polish wax, which if you wanted that, would cost an additional $150. I just hate paying more for the same basic service I can get down the street for less. We live in a neighborhood with pine trees and sap, so we garage when we can and we have to wash regularly. Because this is part of Marin living, we have become fond of the lower cost washes, because frankly there seems to be after two years of washes, little to no difference in the quality of the work of the higher and lower cost car washes in Marin. For example, we see little difference in the cleaning we get here at the Strawberry Chevron Car Wash and a small gas station touchless car wash down the street. There are always dirt spots on our finish at the end of our completed wash, that we have to request a little extra elbow grease to, both here and at the much less expensive spot down the road, so why pay more for the same average service? I'll get right to the point, as other's have said, there is a strong "up sell" here (and it's about selling you a more expensive car wash and supposedly better cleaning) but you know what makes it easy to say no? When the cost is already outrageous for a basic wash, and you just don't have any confidence in the quality and value of the end product that would justify an upgrade. read more
