Shiner's Saloon has the friendliest bartenders. You know its good when the owners are working there too. Every time I am there, which is often, I feel like I am at home. They have live music every night. ****Great place for a party or special event. They cater food and are willing to work with pretty much any specifics including music, drinks, and staff.**** They have great specials like, $1 whiskey Wednesday, $3 Skyy Vodka and $4 Forty Creek Whisky on Fridays. and almost every day they have $2.75 domestic drafts and $3.25 premium drafts. For all of those Shiner fans, they consider Shiner Beers as domestic... finally!!! Not only is Shiner sold at a domestic price, but they have all of the Shiner beers on draft, including the seasonal and anniversary!!! Great sports bar. They have many TVs and a drop down big screen. It is a Pittsburgh Steelers bar, but they will play all other televised games. Spent the Super Bowl here... it was awesome! I went in on a Sunday and ended up staying all day The food is bar food that refuses to be bar food. From the avocado sub to tacos to sliders to homemade kolaches, you just can't order a bad meal from them. Plus, I was there late on a Friday and found out that they sell $2 breakfast tacos after 2am on Fridays and Saturdays downstairs on the street. These guys are great people and always provide a great time. If you want excellent laid back service, great food and amazingly cheap drinks, head to here. You won't be disappointed. read more

Great food with a really nice staff. I had the chicken tacos and they were pretty legit. The kitchen is supposedly open till 2am so I plan to come back next time I'm drinking downtown. I nibbled on a friend's pizza roll and was pretty jealous, that bread is great. Oh and the selection of shiner beer on tap is all that sold me on trying this place out... The guy inviting me in was very nice and made the place sound appealing. Once upstairs.... The worst experience EVER!!!! I asked about the menu items and both bartenders (bearded short guy and shaven tall guy) were irritated and could barely hear. So I passed on food-good sign because other sent theirs back. They were EXTREMELY IRRITATED AND SHORT TEMPERED with ME but patient with the 7 other patrons. "Not sure why." I order a blue moon paid cash... Then... When I left, the taller shave bald bartender ran down the street to catch me (the best service I had the entire time) to tell me I need to pay for my beer.... REALLY!!!!! I told him I paid. He said I didn't all I did was asked about pizza. I went back to the bar and only to meet the rude short guy with a beard who said he didn't remember giving me a beer.... I was the ONLY BLACK MALE IN THE PLACE..... Are you that unaware? Do you not look at your customers? Or do you simply ignore black men who pay you? Never again will I step 1 foot in that establishment... Yes, my hotel where I stay 2 weeks out of the month for work is down the street I will make sure my company and my employees know about my experience. A week ago last Sunday my wife and I stopped by Shiner's Saloon for "one drink". We had such a great time that we stayed for much longer and decided to eat too. Our bar tender, ZZ-Kupkake was very fun and very sharp on the trends! The service, food, and the other customers were beyond GREAT and very cool! We enjoyed the huge TV screens as we watched the football playoffs. As the place got very busy we never had to wait on any of our needs. That same day my Wife lost her bracelet. (Christmas gift) We left messages at the various stores, shops, and places we visited around Round Rock and Austin that day. I am please to announce the honest folks from Shiner's found the bracelet and left us a message wanting to know where to return it. They also sent a text picture of the bracelet to be sure it was hers. We had already planned to return to Shiner's the next time we visit our relative's in the Austin area. Now we cannot wait to go back and thank the staff in person and have another very fun visit. Thanks again Shiner's group! We WILL be back!! read more

Let me get straight to the point, this bar was terrible. My buddy's band had a show here and the place was probably 1/5 capacity, it was a Tuesday night. After only a couple of drinks in and at around 12:30am, the bar service just plummeted. I literally stood at the bar for 10 min trying to flag down the bar tenders but to no avail. They weren't serving anyone, the two were just chatting it up. I honestly don't know how this place can have 4 stars with such terrible service. Avoid. At. All. Costs. read more

When you walk up the stairs, past the Shiner bottle chandelier in the entranceway, you come up into a space on the second floor that feels like there should be sawdust on the floor. Phenomenal place if you're in Austin! Great selection of beer, several varietals of Shiner on tap. Great staff, super reasonable prices. We are from Chicago and decided to hit as many joints as possible in town and this is one of the best! We actually ended up going back at the end of the night for some food. I was visiting my brother In Austin when we stumbled upon Shiner's while looking for a place to grab drinks. We originally looked to bar hop but after a few drinks we had no choice but to stay. The bartenders were awesome, the doorman was helpful and even the help in the restroom was a blast to hang out with. These people are amazing and took great care of us, should I ever be back in Austin again this place will be a necessity to see! read more

Hands down the best bar in Austin! Great atmosphere - they have an awesome rooftop deck, yummy food and really cold draft beer (not to mention lots of other great drinks and shots - maybe too many shots)! First, I'd like to say I plan nightlife social events for groups in Austin. I always bring/send groups to this bar. Went tonight, had a friend who was in town for his bachelor party. Had a group of 12 people straggling behind. Went up to the bar to do a vapor shot while we waited. The female bartender ask if that's all we want and I said that would be good for now. She yelled across the bar to the other bartenders that all we wanted was a vapor shot. She didn't realize she was about to have 10 other guys come up and order shots and drinks. She turned around and asked if we were paying cash or card, which didn't really matter, and I said I had both which ever is fine. Because she had a bad attitude about the vapor shots, she thought I was talking trash. She asked what I said and I told her that I didn't care for anything, thank you and bye. I understand those shots are a pain to make, but she should have been a little less pissed off. Like I said, I'm a party planner for bachelor and bachelorette parties in Austin and typically bring people here. Because of the level of service, I will no longer be doing that. read more

Went to this place to see some live music and had heard about the musicians through a friend. I'm not really a country fan, but I still liked to hear this band live. The place had plenty of room, and it had a good number of people without being packed, which I like. The band had one of those sit-down bass players, which I always think is badass. The guys mingled and talked to people after the show, I bought a couple of beer coozies. The ambiance in the place was pretty cool and chill, at least to me. One of the bartenders was a bit of a smartass to a friend of mine for no reason whatsoever, and that's really the only complaint I have, but that could just be the dude's personality or whatever. The drinks weren't overpriced, and no cover that night, which was a plus. The guy working the door was really cool, and seemed to go out of his way to be nice to everyone coming in. Would likely go back if the same band was playing again. The place has a patio/outdoor area as well but I didn't check it out. read more

This place was absolutely awesome. The bartenders were friendly and hilarious. My friend and I went in expecting to grab one drink and leave and ended up staying over half the night - with no regrets! 'Cupcake' is the best bartender I have ever had, he even introduced us to a new drink that is now one of my favorites. Had a great time last night at this bar. Went in for a late lunch and got to chatting with Kup, the owner who was kind and helpful with where to go when in town for the weekend. Me and my two friends were partaking in the Bar Crawl Nation 2016 event this Friday night and we made it through all 11 bars, paid for our tickets, bought drinks and followed all rules. Finally made it to shiners saloon to finish the event, and my friend had her barely expired military ID that EVERY bar had accepted all night long. The bouncer at the saloon literally started yelling in our faces and said "we could get the fuck away from HIS bar" and was yelling in my face and would not let us finish what we paid money for. I have no respect for a "man" who can yell in a customers face especially a woman's. Then he said "bye little girl" to me after telling me to "get the fuck out". We're sitting at the rooftop bar enjoying cocktails, cold beers and tasty bar food. The bartender/owner put our game on one of the 3 TVs. He's so pleasant and accommodating (provided ice for an injured hand!) and fun. Wonderful music on the speakers. Folks playing corn hole and having a good ol' time. Wandering around downtown late one night I push through old west style swinging doors. I grabbed my imaginary pistol from my holster and climed the stairs to the saloon. I stepped through the doorway expecting to see a group of guys playing cards, a piano player, and hopefully a few scantily clad maidens. A boy can dream right? That scene didn't play out the way I expected, but I did find what I was looking for. Great Texas beer (Shiner, Real Ale), a solid food menu, and a friendly staff (from the front doorman to the bathroom attendant). I have been back numerous times and try to always make a stop here. The furniture is very comfortable. If you can, stake out an area in the back where the leather couches, chairs, and tables are. The prices of the drinks are very managable, but the happy hour is where you get the best deals. The food I have ordered has always been good enough for me. I enjoy watching sports and this place has numerous TV's on the walls for that reason. A couple video games in the back, Buckhunter and I think it was Galaga/ Pacman. The ONLY complaint I ever have is most of the time the music is really lacking for my tastes, but you do get an occasional gem. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone as a great place to start your night and if all goes well a permanent hangout. Tip your bartender! read more
