I discovered Shining Health Spa via Groupon, where I got a deal for a facial for just $30. I was initially skeptical when I arrived because the exterior is very unassuming and no frills, but don't be fooled - the service was incredible! I ended up adding an oxygen treatment to the package for an extra $30. The entire treatment took about an hour and 45 minutes, and I was very impressed because each minute there was something being done to my face, whether thorough extractions, the oxygen wand, or a calming mask. Each step was done meticulously, and even during "downtime" like when the mask was drying, my technician filled the time with a relaxing arm and leg massage. Well worth the time and price! read more

I have gotten my lashes done here three times and each experience has been pleasant. Although the eyelash tech takes an hour and a half to almost two hours to complete a set of 100 pieces; the result is quite beautiful. The eyelash tech is very friendly and makes the experience pleasant; they play soft music in the background and honestly I have fell asleep during all my appointments which makes for a great nap. They do have other services like facials and massages but I haven't used those services yet. The back area looks a little dark and not very inviting so I'm not sure if I would try those services in the near future. The set last around 3-4 weeks which is the standard and their prices are quite reasonable. If you find the promo price on Groupon, they will match the price at their location. Parking is a bit difficult because it is located in a busy street in Steinway but you can get lucky with a meter parking. read more

My favorite spa in Astoria, have searched high and low for a consistently good facial and massage experience and this it it! All the rooms and bathroom are always clean and the establishment seems to be owned and run by women and I always feel super comfy. I originally purchased the Groupon facial deal and I've been getting facials there for about a year. It's a great combo of estheticians who make you comfortable and know what treatments to use on your skin. They really take their time, the products smell and feel great. It's the little details like making sure the steam is at the right temperature, doing a great facial massage and doing a shoulder and arm massage while you get your rubber mask - a lot of places just kind of leave you in a room while you get wear a sheet mask. My skin is always glowing and happy when I leave. The massages are just as good, I can tell my masseuses know anatomy and they really help get those difficult knots out. I like that they check in to make sure the pressure is good (I have had massages that are way too hard at other places and I suffer in silence lol) They use heat pretty effectively with hot stones and hot packs. I haven't tried their other services but definitely going to do my lashes at some point! read more

Wow, what an experience. The lady (She introduced herself as Coco) is asking for $5 tax from the get go. The place it filthy, found someone's black hair on my sheets. The lady looked at my skin for 5 seconds and said it's dry (which is not true). She covered my eyes and started putting layers of lotions on my face straight from a jar! Repeatedly immersing her fingers from my face to the jar. ( keep in mind that she is probably doing this to every client so that cream is contaminated with all sorts of bacteria from ALL the clients that's ever been there) . I've asked her to verbalize the steps and tell what is she putting in my face, she said "ok" and sat in silence. Then she put a mask (again have no idea what mask) and left without saying for how long. Everything she was putting on my face smelled funky and felt dirty. After the mask I had pieces of dry mask stuck to my hair. She wiped my face with same greasy water she's been wiping me the entire hour, and told me to look how beautiful it is. I came home and washed my face after this experience. These people really need to up they hygiene if they dealing with people's faces! read more

We were shortchanged. We felt cheated of our money. My 2 children and I went there on May 12, 2024 for our one hour facial with microdermabrasion at 3 pm. It was supposed to be a one hour service. But I was left for several minutes by the attendant. She was gone for so long. And she didn't tell where she's going nor what the next step was. My children told me the same thing. The attendants left them for so long. Good for my daughter she timed how long the attendants were gone. 30 minutes! Do not rely on those 4 stars you see about this spa! Unreliable. read more

Grace is AMAZING. I came here for a 60 minute cleansing facial/ massage. I recommend to call or text to see the different facial options she has to offer. Grace is super informative and walks you through each step and why. She gives great recommendations. She also showed me the blackheads during the extractions which was eye opening. No facialist has been that thorough before. The overall experience was wonderful. I can't wait to be back. The massage was also fantastic. read more

My second facial service was just as thorough as the first. My eyebrow experience and results exceeded satisfaction.

My facial was excellent however the pushy lady at the front desk almost ruined the experience. The second I arrived she demanded I pay the credit card tax since I had a Groupon. I paid the few dollars that was fine. Once it was time to examine my skin she said it was extremely dry (thanks, I know) and tried to upsell me. Then came the facial/massage which was wonderful. I made sure to tip on the full amount the service would have been. As I left I had another encounter with the pushy lady telling me I need to come back soon, once again implying that my skin was terrible, and not to use a Groupon next time! Ok, If you are trying to get me to not come back, good job. Again, treatment- fantastic, customer service- awful. read more

Grace was amazing! I had the best facial and back scrub. I found this place by accident in Groupon, and so glad I did. I'm bringing my family and friends to her. She really takes her time to examine your face and customizes on your needs. She also adds an amazing shoulder and hand massage. After I left I felt recharged, and I can't wait for next session. I've been looking for a new spot to get my lashes done. My last girl moved out of the city. Pleased to say, I found it!! Grace does amazing work. She did exactly what I wanted and I'm so happy with how it came out. She was extremely fast as well. I got semi-volume and it only took 1 hour!
